Chapter 62. The new changes

The new semester would always bring some new changes.

For example, Fred was busy training every day, and Della felt guilty for refusing his proposal. So she no longer got angry about her missing boyfriend. Anyway, she had a lot to do.

She's going to prepare for the opening of Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, also, she's going to write back to Miranda Goshawk.

Since found out by Hermione, she had been urging to write back every day.

"I can't believe it! How can you forget it!" Hermione sputtered.

"A lot has happened!" Della felt she had a really bad time in the last few days of the summer vacation, Hermione shouldn't blame her for forgetting such a letter.

"Write back! Say yes!" Hermione read the letter carefully and told her, "you need to write another paper!"

Then, she began to force Della to write another paper in the heavy study breaks!

"You can ask Professor Flitwick. If he's willing to give you some advice, it would be better." she said.

However, for Della, the invention of the Harmless and Painless Hair-Removal Spell had many coincidental factors. She couldn't write in her paper because she wanted to play with her wand and thought it was magic to cast spell, when she saw Lucy cook with wand, she suddenly came up with an idea to learn the Hair-Removal Spell. As a consequence of learningTheory of Charms at that time, she planned to improve it by the way. Finally, when she got used to having it to cut the hair of her brother, the spell was born!

...If this article appeared in a book of The Standard Book of Spells, her skeleton from the past would be seen by every Hogwarts students!

In order to evade this paper, she devoted all her energy to the compilation of the product catalogue. In the end, when Fred got it, he was slack-jawed.

He moved his sight from the thick parchment in his hand to Della, seemed pretty moved and couldn't speak out a word.

In her busy schedule, Hermione looked up from the piles of books to the parchment, she said to Della, "if you work as hard on your paper..."

Della immediately changed the topic and talked about their new professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts, i.e., Harry's godfather.

Harry hastily looked up. He was busy training recently, and Sirius kept saying everything was fine and everyone liked him.

"How's he doing? Do you like his class?"

Hermione looked up and comforted him, "yes, I mean, he explained very detailed. There's a lot of content." Take a look at the books on the small side table in front of her, the tree piles of books were stood up to the ceiling.

Harry didn't feel relieved, students like Hermione were in the minority after all. He turned to Della and thought her view were more representative of the public.

Della nodded, "yes, I should say, he's doing good."

The Defense Against the Dark Arts course was not like it was last year or the year before that.

Professor Lupin focused on the elves and animals in the magical world. Of course, they were all evil. While, in fact, some of them wouldn't go through a jungle and a swamp all their lives, nor meet a group of green Grindylow with long nails, drinking human blood and eating human.

On the other hand, Professor Moody thought they lived on the battlefield. They had to guard against the black wizard squatting on the pillow who cast curses when they slept, or needed to be wary of being taken away their lives.

Except some wise people — like her, most of students thought he's doing too much. They didn't plan to be Aurors after graduation.

Sirius talked about the influence of dark arts on people.

Why's dark arts evil? Why did people used dark arts became increasingly evil? Why's it necessary to take precautions against the dark arts?

Since he talked about many theories in class, students all reckoned he was a gentle professor and would not teach them spells.

After that, he held up a mouse and taught them the Skinning Spell.

The Skinning Spell was actually a large category, different from the Hair-Removal Charm. In her mind, Della divided the charms into chemical one that changed things themselves, and physical one that only changed the appearances of things.

The Skinning Spell and the Hair-Removal Charm were both supposed as physical spells, but the later could be acted on both people and plants at the same time. That's to say, it had crossed a boundary in the sense of magic.

The Skinning Spell could be divided into two types: The one worked on plants and the one applied on animals.

They were the same at the beginning, but turned to different pronunciation from the first tone transition.

Della had never tried the second kind of Skinning Spell — because it's longer and harder to pronounce than the one applied on an apple!

Besides, there's no need for the second one of Skinning Spell in her kitchen. She preferred a fry chicken with skin, and didn't like to peel pork: The pork with skin was the right way to her.

But, when Sirius said he's going to skinned a living mouse in the classroom, students were scared out of their wits.

—After they experienced the classes of Professor Moody, they had a new understanding of the profession of "professor". There were professors like Professor Dumbledore, as well as some like Professor Moody.

In the end, Sirius merely demonstrated the spell on a tomato. But when the red skin fell down, everyone felt uncomfortable. And no one touched the tomato soup at dinner.

Della didn't know how to describe him. "There's a crazy side to his soul." She told Hermione.

Hermione nodded, "he had such experience." She said thoughtfully.

She was a little worried about Sirius. While Harry had been busy training, Sirius never told him anything, he wanted to hide from Harry. At last, she had a conversation with Sirius, when she got back, she said to Della, "it's not good. I reckon he has a heroism complex."

Della didn't get it.

Hermione: "I mean, he seems to want to do something big, make a great contribution, to be a hero! He has been looking forward to it. It's not good. I think he's a bit out of his mind."

Della probably understood. She said to Hermione, "but people have all kinds of problems. There are no one who has no problem at all. Like me, I have a lot of problems, some of them have affected my life. I think we have to overcome it ourselves. Of course, a friend's reminder will play a role, but it's by no means the decisive part."

Hermione looked at her in surprise. After a while, she said "thank you".

She accepted her advice and said scarcely any thing, nor talked to Harry.

Indeed, she's worried about Sirius and Harry, but Della was right, she couldn't make decisions for them. She could only remind them and help them when they need her. Too eager only led to an opposite effect.

Therefore, when Harry asked about Sirius, neither Hermione nor Della said it.

But they would pay attention to him, because he's Harry's godfather.

The first Quidditch game was coming. Slytherin versus Ravenclaw.

Angelina thought it was time to get information about the enemy, so Fred and Della appeared in the stand at the Quidditch stadium.

"Rare date, we're watching Slytherin playing game." Fred complained.

Della looked around, relieved to see George and Angelina sitting opposite, Hermione and Harry were down there, all of them were with their lovers.

Grabbing a date.

"Why not? We can sit together for two hours instead of only saying hello at the table." She said.

Fred quietly took her hand and swore, "honey, I'll be with you after these days."

Della: "I'm not complaining. We all have business to do. When Quidditch training is over, it's time for you to make products with George. Your progress is a little delayed." Fred and George had only one shop, and their products were all secret recipes, so they couldn't hire workers, nor find someone to do it for them, they had to do it all by themselves, which was a big project.

Fred frowned and said, "actually, George and I were going to work today, but there seems to be something wrong with our secret stash on the tenth floor."

Della: "The Room of Requirement? What's wrong with it?"

Fred: "Emm… seems like it got a fire. The whole wall on the tenth floor is black. I don't think we can use it any more, it's ruined."

"A fire?" asked her surprisedly, "during our summer vacation?"

Fred: "Yes. I've never heard of a fire in Hogwarts."

Della had to consoled him, "what about your opening date…?" "It may have to be delayed." Fred said gloomily.
