Chapter 13: Discussions

"And why should I have to train him?" Aizawa asked.

"You are best suited to teach Izuku how to fight. You fight basically quirkless too, something Izuku needs to learn," Nedzu replied.

"Why does he need to learn how to fight without a quirk?"

"Because he's quirkless,"

Aizawa's eyes widened by a fraction but his face remained the same otherwise, "None of my concern. You said his name is Midoriya Izuku, so I assume he's a relative of Hisashi-san. I'm sure he can teach him just as well,"

"No, he sucks at teaching, that's why I'm asking you," Nedzu said bluntly earning a deadpan stare from Aizawa, "Even so, isn't this favoritism for Midoriya,"

"Perhaps," Nedzu replied blandly, "What's your point?"

Aizawa twitched, "My point is, I do not see the purpose of teaching Midoriya when I can teach the other students at UA. It would be a better allocation of my time. I don't see why I should waste time on training Midoriya when you are asking me to train him on basis of a personal favor,"

Nedzu rolled his eyes as Izuku sat like a statue at the two adults debating his training, "Firstly," Nedzu replied, "Since your class is expelled, you have plenty of time to train Midoriya. We both know, you're just going to use the extra time for sleep," Aizawa twitched, "And secondly if I was training Izuku as a personal favor, I wouldn't have asked for your help nor would I have brought him to UA. It is only because I am confident in his potential that I ask you to train him," Nedzu with such determination that made Izuku smile. Aizawa also wore a slightly shocked expression considering he had never seen Nedzu so fired up or talk so highly of someone, let alone a kid who seemed to still be in middle school.

"I'll still need to test him myself to see his potential,"

Nedzu grinned, "This will be enough," he handed something to Aizawa.

Aizawa took the paper with suspicious eyes and read.

Hero Analysis
Subject: Eraserhead

As his name suggests, Eraserhead's quirk is to negate a quirk. From the photos and videos I have obtained, Eraserhead seems to wear black attire along with a scarf that seems to move telepathically. In addition, his eyes turn red when his quirk is used.

Since Eraserhead does not have access to strength or combat-enhancing quirk, he needs to have a good grasp of martial arts and quirkless combat. His fighting style consists of using his scarf to capture enemies. Quirks act as crutches for many of the villains and when their quirk is erased, it's easier for him to take the villains down.

However, Eraserhead's quirk most likely does not work on a mutant quirk. A mutation is part of those with mutant quirks and cannot be turned on and off like emitter quirks. This leads me to believe that Eraserhead can only negate a quirk from working. His quirk cannot negate the effects of a quirk. For example, Eraserhead can stop Endeavour from emitting flames from his body, but if Endeavour burns a building, negating Endeavour's quirk won't extinguish the building on fire. Similarly, Eraserhead can probably stop Hawks from moving his feathers but his quirk won't cause his feathers to suddenly vanish.

Since Eraserhead's hair and capture scarf seems to levitate whenever his quirk activates, it is safe to say that his quirk might have a telekinetic link. His eye color change when his quirk activates might be a result of his telekinetic quirk. This can explain how his quirk works. It may simply be that through telekinesis, Eraserhead affects the brain of his opponent and shuts down parts of their brain, deactivating the quirk.

The limitation of the erasure quirk is also something that needs to be assessed. Eraserhead's quirk obviously will not work virtually through a screen, but will it work through a mirror? In addition, does he need direct visual contact? If so, does covering oneself fully mean Eraserhead cannot deactivate their quirk?

Lastly, Eraserhead's weakness is speed, stealth, and strength. Someone who is fast enough can evade his line of sight and make sure their quirk is not negated. While someone with a strength quirk can have their quirk negated, that won't be the case for someone with superior core-body strength. Core-body strength is natural and does not require a quirk. Someone with superior core-body strength to Eraserhead can easily overcome him. Similarly, a master in stealth can get the jump on Eraserhead and ambush him.

Eraserhead is fast enough to keep up with a speedster who doesn't have a quirk, but in the case where a villain has a speed-related quirk, he can use stealth to his advantage to negate his quirk from afar before using his capture scarf to arrest him. Someone who is stronger than him will also not necessarily have an advantage as Eraserhead can use his capture scarf to trip, choke and whip the opponent. A master in stealth has the best chance of taking down Eraserhead, but considering Eraserhead's identity as an underground hero, he must be skillful in stealth himself and will not fall into an ambush easily.

Aizawa finished reading the short yet on-point analysis. He could see why Nedzu was adamant about having him teach Izuku and gave him a long calculating look. Izuku winced under Aizawa's stare, "I know it's not much but I didn't have access to combat videos since you are an underground hero,"

"That's precisely it Midoriya. I'm supposed to be an underground hero so all of these should not have been easy to find out. The videos and photos themselves must have taken weeks, maybe even months to procure. Not to mention to know about my capture scarves and eye-color changing, you would have had to obtain close footage of me,"

"Well, that was actually easier. I just asked around on forums. Small-time villains you had caught offered me a few details and I pieced it together here and there," Izuku grinned.

"Even so Izuku, your analyzing skills are frightening," Nedzu commented and turned to Aizawa, "He has made analyses on several hundreds of pro-heroes which I plan to refine a bit more before handing them out to help them. Of course, Izuku will need to gain an analyst license for that first,"

"Analyst license?" Izuku asked.

"It's something that restricts the number of people to formally hand in analyses to pro-heroes. Many amateur analysts often threaten the safety of the pro-heroes. Professional analysts are taught how to minimize the risk of damage," Aizawa explained.

"So Eraserhead, still think he has no potential?" Nedzu smirked.

Aizawa handed back the paper, and sighed, "Fine, I'll teach the brat,"

"Really!?" Izuku asked ecstatically.

Aizawa nodded, "You have much more potential than my expelled class so I'd rather teach you but be warned, it's not going to be easy. While I fight quirkless, my quirk allows me to make sure my opponents and I are on equal footing. Not to mention, villains often let their quirks become crutches. I take away their crutches which makes them fall more easily. However, you cannot say the same. You can't bring your opponent down to an equal footing so you will have to learn how to overcome them while being quirkless," Aizawa explained.

"Yes, Eraserhead!"

"Call me Aizawa, problem child,"

"Yes, Aizawa sensei. What do you mean by problem child...?"

"It's his way of showing he cares even though he might act annoyed by you," Nedzu laughed earning a dirty glare from the teacher, "It's lunchtime now so why don't you go down to the cafeteria. I have already informed Lunch Rush so you will get sufficient food. I hope you can find your way to the cafeteria?"

"Yup, dad gave me the blueprint," he grinned cheekily holding it out getting a wide-eyed stare from the principal, "He said he stole it the last time he was here and asked me to give it back,"

"That little-" Nedzu cursed under his breath, "Didn't he realize that it could be stolen from you by villains?"

"Oh, he did! He just wanted to show you how lax your security is... again," Izuku grinned chaotically and left for the cafeteria. Nedzu smiled and shook his head in disbelief.

"I'm curious to know what he wrote about you," Aizawa said.

"It wasn't nothing much to do about my quirk itself. He just pointed out that even though I am a Chimera, animals often don't have proper vocal cords to talk in the human tongue. He theorized that I'm actually an animal or chimera with a quirk that lets me be human and cited that some animals have higher IQs than humans to explain my intelligence," Nedzu replied with a smile.

Aizawa whistled in amazement, "I can see why you took such an interest in him,"

"Indeed. A rare gem," Nedzu admitted, "Now, let's make a schedule for him,"

"Did you hear that class 1-A got expelled?"

"There were already rumors that Aizawa-sensei was going to expel them,"

"Yes but apparently they were given a second chance,"

"So? They probably messed up anyway,"

"Nah man, see that green-haired boy?"

"Yeah,"

"Apparently they got caught bullying him and got expelled!"

"How do you even know that?"

"Rumours. Amajiki said she heard a teacher yelling at them,"

"I'm pretty sure he's Aizawa-sensei's kid," Nejire appeared out of nowhere.

"No way!"

"But it matches up! Aizawa-sensei must have gotten pissed that his son was getting bullied!"

"Aizawa-sensei expelled some of last year's class for bullying too. That doesn't make sense,"

"Yeah, but Amajiki said that he heard the boy is quirkless. Aizawa-sensei's quirk turns people quirkless so maybe that had a negative effect!"

"Sometimes I worry about you, Nejire,"

"Wait, Amajiki told me Nedzu-sensei himself expelled them!"

"Yeah, that's what I heard too!"

"Whoa! That would mean he's close to Nedzu sensei too!"

"Guys!" Someone hissed, "He's looking at us and can probably hear us! On the off chance he is related to Aizawa or Nedzu-sensei, do we really want to piss off either of them?"

Nervously, the students walked over to Izuku whose anxiety was rising. He had no clue what they were whispering about and due to past incidents, he thought they were talking about his quirklessness. And while the students walked to izuku nervously, in Izuku's mind, the older students were menacing and he couldn't help but think that they were coming to bully him.

"D-do you want my apple?"

"H-huh?" Izuku stared blankly at the apple set in front of him.

"You can have mine too! I don't need it,"

"You can have my ice cream!"

Lunch Rush watched from afar, knowing none of that was true, and smacked some of them lightly, "Stop frightening the poor kid and eat your food! I don't think any of you want to fall unconscious in training and get a lecture from Recovery Girl,"

"No sensei,"

"Good. Now eat,"

The crowd began to disperse around Izuku's table and Lunch Rush facepalmed. He didn't tell them to go away! Nedzu had already told him about Izuku's quirklessness and he knew that Izuku would need to make friends. Fortunately for Lunch Rush, Mirio had slid into the seat beside Izuku, "You're really quiet,"

"O-oh sorry,"

Mirio laughed, "There's nothing to be sorry about. My name is Togata Mirio,"

"H-hi, I'm Izuku,"

"How come you aren't wearing your uniform?"

"Uhm," Izuku thought. He wasn't sure how to reply to Mirio. Izuku didn't know whether or not he should tell that Nedzu was training him. Then again, Nedzu hadn't told him to lie, "Well, I'm not a student here actually," he replied, hoping Mirio wouldn't pursue any further. Surprisingly, Mirio just nodded.

The reason Mirio had not asked any further questions, however, was because he believed that they were correct in believing Izuku was Aizawa's child. Why else would he be at UA if he wasn't a student? "You're quirkless right?"

"Y-yes," Izuku replied nervously, fear on his face.

Mirio laughed again, "I'm not going to hurt you! I know what class 1A did and I apologize on behalf of UA but they're new students. None of us older ones are going to hurt you so you can always ask us for help!"

Izuku gave a shaky smile, "I'll keep that in mind,"

"Mirio, the bell rang a while back. Get back to class," Aizawa appeared out of thin air.

"Oh sensei!" Mirio laughed, "I was just hanging out with Izuku since he looked lonely,"

"Tell your classmates to get ready. We're going to go to USJ for rescue practices today,"

"Yes sensei. It was nice talking to you Izuku. Visit us with your dad again!" Mirio said.

"My dad?" Izuku asked, confused as to how Mirio knew about Hisashi.

"Yeah, Aizawa-sensei is your dad right?"

Aizawa and Izuku stiffened and stared at him agape, "Well, see you in class sensei!" Mirio ran leaving behind the two, frozen in shock.

Behind the counter, Lunch Rush smiled and cackled as he took a photo. While he knew that it was all a misunderstanding, a frozen and shocked Aizawa was always great blackmail material.
