It had been forty-five years since the fall of Beacon, and as much as one would hope things got better, it never did. After Lionheart was killed during the battle of Haven, Mistral still lost its huntsmen, and fell half a year later. Atlas still rots at the bottom of a lake, and Vacuo never really stood a chance without the other kingdoms.
The fight still continued, Salem didn't have all the relics, and as long as that was true, so was hope.
Ruby walked through the ruins of Beacon academy, a place long abandoned even by Grimm after the dragon was finally killed in Vacuo. She made her way towards the tower, where a man in green resides.
The man is wearing a tattered green suit over a white buttoned up dress shirt, and black dress pants with matching boots. He's supporting himself with a cane. "So you've made your decision?" He asks, raising a brow slightly in Ruby's direction. She simply nods, pulling out the broken remains of The Long Memory from a small bag before tossing them at the man's feet.
"I at least want to feel like I've accomplished something in my life Oscar." Ruby says, using a slight flick of magic to pull four floating objects from various hiding spots throughout the tower's ruins. "I'm too damn old to have wasted my life on nothing."
Oscar runs a hand through his greying hair, walking over and guiding the relics so they closely surround the broken cane. He then reaches into his pocket, pulling out a small white stone before giving it to Ruby. "Better live the best life for us both then." He quietly mutters, giving the old huntress a hug before returning to the relics. Ruby feels the stone pulsing with power already, it's ancient magics making her hand feel decades younger than it is.
She focuses on her aura and semblance, the feeling of her iconic rose petals giving her slight comfort, though is quickly ruined by the sounds of Grimm fast approaching. Ruby looks up at Oscar with worry, though he simply gives her a nod.
With that she speeds off into the distance, an explosion of white and crimson light being the last of Ruby seen in this time. Oscar simply watches the light fade before turning to the horde of Grimm.
From the black mass steps a woman with pale skin and hair, wearing a dress the matches the black veins spread throughout her body. Her black and red eyes glaring at what is the last incarnation of her former beloved. "What point is there to this?" She asks, getting closer to Oscar and the relics. "Humanity is gone, all that remains is you and I." The Grimm get more antsy the more she speaks. "So why won't you give me what's rightfully mine?" Her tone raises towards the end, but the man only gives a half smile.
"It's pettiness at the point if I'm being honest" Oscar chuckles. "There's nothing left but to make you unhappy, I can't complain though, just wish I could see your face." With those words he taps the ground with his cane, and the world goes white.
Of course such destructive means never kept Salem down for long, getting up a few minutes later after her face reshaped itself. She stumbled over to where she remembered the relics were, past the darkened spot that marks where Oscar stood. Though when she saw nothing but the broken cane and whisps of what could be assumed to be the fading magic of the relics, she screamed.

Ruby had felt many things in her 61 years of life, but she can say she's surprised about this new and strange pulling sensation ripping apart and keeping together every fiber of her being. Of course just because it's new doesn't make it nice, and coupled with the endless darkness, she could say there's some doubts about the plan seeping in.
A few minutes later (or an eternity, she wasn't sure), Ruby found herself falling out of a bed. One that was far too familiar to be forgotten. She bolted up, looking around the dark room at the shelf full of Grimm figurines. Ruby turned her head towards a wall covered in band posters, a fullbody mirror resting against it, along with a bed holding a very unruly mess of blond hair.
Ruby didn't know how long she looked at the bed, but eventually she walked to the side of it, a very young and peaceful Yang Xiao Long sleeping through the night. Ruby just looked at her sister, tears she swore she wouldn't shed pouring down her cheeks.
She heads back to her bed, trying to get to sleep, and hoping that crying won't be a common occurrence with literally anyone she sees.
