Author's Note:
* Hello and welcome to the first chapter of Ben 10: Ultimate Alien! This version of Ben has only been seen once, albeit a cameo in another Ben 10 story of mine, namely the Bride To Be series. One thing I'll mention right out of the gate is that Ben and Gwen in this universe are not related. I know it's canon for them to be cousins, but I wanted to mix things up a little. Oh, yes, and there's the fact that Marvel and DC don't exist in this universe. So, just like Gwen 10, I've decided to give this Ben his own story!
* Before I get to my last point, I want to mention how you may have seen that there's a original character named Nathan Black involved in this story. If you don't know who that is, it's a character that my beta reader came up with, whom we've integrated into my story. It's not entirely necessary, but checking out Volume Two of my Ben 10: Bride To Be story would be helpful in understanding this character. Most specifically chapters 100-110 and after Chapter 131 is when he becomes more of a main cast member. As this version of the character is different from that one, taking this advice isn't necessary, but I think it would be helpful!
* This story will focus on how the Ben of this story came to be a superhero in Bellwood. I won't say anything else to keep myself from prematurely spoiling anything. But anyway, let's get right into the chapter!

Ben
My name is Ben Tennyson. Every story has its titular hero. Well, you would laugh if I told you that I'm the hero of this story. I mean, you look me, and you'd see a fourteen year old freshman in high school, who's short and scrawny and wears glasses. Glasses that were crooked more often than not.
Oh, yes, and I was also subject to bullying. So, with all of those taken in mind, what makes me a hero? Trust me, I would come ask myself that question a lot. Okay, okay, enough of the confusing narration. I might as well start this again. Okay, my name is Ben Tennyson. I am fourteen years old and am going into Madison High School as a freshman.
I have brown hair and brown eyes, and I have the average weight and height for a teenager my age. I am however scrawny and not very muscular at all. I was a nerd at school, another prime reason of me being picked on. Luckily, I wasn't always alone when the bullies came to beat on me. My only friend, Nathan Black, who had a lot more guts than I did, usually defended me from the bullies. Besides all that, my life was pretty swell.
…
"Agh!" I gasped with surprise as a container of fries was thrown at me.
I let out a sigh as I heard the chuckling of my usual tormentors, J.T., Cash Murray and Kevin Levin coming from a few tables over. I had decided to get out of the house to go read a book for a while, but I had apparently picked the wrong place to read: the Mall. The Mall was one of their most frequent hangouts, so why did I come here?
I tried to go back to reading as I heard them approaching me.
"Whatcha reading, bookworm?" J.T. asked as he plucked the book from my hands with ease.
"Fandations of 'Merican Govnernment." Cash read the title of the book, completely butchering it.
"You need to check your glasses, Cash." Kevin replied. "It's called "Foundations of American Government"."
Hey, look, I thought. Someone who can actually read.
"I know what it says, pinhead! I was just fooling around!"
J.T. slammed the book down onto my hand.
"Ow, come on guys!" I exclaimed, speaking for the first time. "Do you really have to bug me today?"
They all looked at me with serious faces, before Kevin sneered.
"Oh, come on, Tennyson!" he exclaimed as he pulled me into a head lock and began to ruffle my hair. "We're just messing with you!"
He pulled away from the head lock and slapped me on the back, before he and his cronies departed. Once I was sure that they were gone, I let out a sigh, adjusted my glasses back to the way they were and reached for my book. I opened it and began to read but was almost immediately interrupted.
"Heads up!" Kevin screamed from behind me.
I didn't have time to react as I was hit in the back of the head with something. Whatever had hit me exploded upon impact, drenching me in some kind of dark fluid. The fluid splattered all over the pages of my book, as well as drenching the entirety of my head and back. I just sat there, before sniffing the fluid that ran down my arm.
The fluid smelled familiar, so I took a small amount off with my finger. I put my finger in my mouth and was surprised that I didn't recoil at the taste. The fluid was chocolate. Dark chocolate. I had just been hit with a water balloon full of dark chocolate. I let out another sigh as I closed my book and sat it down on the table. I listened as the laughter in the food court around me drowned out any thoughts that had been going through my head.
"Hey, Ben." a voice said, interrupting my daze.
I looked up to see my only friend, Nathan Black, standing by the table I sat at.
"Nathan! What uh, what are you doing here?" I asked.
"I needed to buy a new wardrobe for when we start at Madison in couple days. So, I'm buying new clothes. The thing is, I could ask you the same thing. What are you doing here? And what is the dark brown stuff?"
I looked down at the table.
"It's dark chocolate from a water balloon. And I came here to get some studying in. I guess I didn't plan on Kevin and his cronies being here."
Kevin was going to be a sophomore at Madison high, as for J.T. and Cash, I think that they were close to the same grade as me, as we had gone to the same junior high school together. But even if Kevin and I didn't go to the same school yet, he still picked on me with the help of his cronies, as they frequented most of the places that I would go outside of school and on the weekends.
It seemed that no matter where I went, besides my own home, there was no escape from them. Nathan suddenly reached past my book and grabbed a French fry from the container of fries that I had bought once I got here.
"May I?" he asked as he looked back at me.
I was a bit confused and he then pointed at the fry, my arm caked in dark chocolate and then back at the fry. I suddenly got what he was going for. I turned away as I shuddered a bit.
"Go for it."
I felt him run the fry along my arm, collecting some of the dark chocolate.
"Mmm, not bad." He said after a few seconds.
"Are you done?"
I looked at him as he chomped away on the French fry.
"Right, sorry." He said.
I heard Kevin scream something again. I turned to see that he had thrown an apple in my direction and naturally, I ducked to avoid it. But Nathan caught it, giving Kevin a glare.
"If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand damn times! Back. The fuck. Off!" he exclaimed, causing the food court to go silent.
He then whipped the apple at Kevin, hitting him in the gut with it. That's the thing about Nathan, he wasn't afraid to use foul language and was even willing to do so with a teacher, if the situation warranted. And you would think that Kevin would be intimidated by Nathan. Nope, not Kevin. After recovering, he just blew raspberry at him but still ran from the scene, along with J.T. and Cash. Once he was gone, Nathan turned back to me.
"Ben, don't let those guys get to you. When are you going to learn that you have to stand up for yourself?"
I looked down.
"I don't know."
Nathan was silent for a few seconds, before speaking again.
"Tell, you what. I'll drop by the Tennyson Pad tonight to see how you're doing before we have to start school the day after tomorrow."
I looked up at him.
"Well, actually I was going to…"
I was trying to speak, but I got interrupted.
"Great! I'll see you tonight at seven."
I looked back down at the table.
"Okay, sure."
I got up from the table and began to walk away.
"Hey, do you want a ride home?" he called, running to catch up with me.
"No." I said as I walked towards the exit of the food court, still covered in liquid dark chocolate.
Later That Night
The Tennyson House
So, Nathan had arrived, even though I kind of wanted to just cram for a while before school had to start. Nathan looked at all of my scientific stuff that he had seen before as I typed away at my computer. By the way, it was an old computer. It had a monitor, one of those old bulky computer systems and everything.
"Dude, I'll never get over all the scientific doo-hickeys and doo-dads that you got down here." Nathan spoke up.
"It's not that much." I said in a glum tone. "You've seen it all before."
To be fair, it was a pretty small basement. Most of what I had was all in storage the next room over. I finished what I was typing and used my roley chair to roll over to the chalkboard I had set up down here. I got up, grabbed a piece of chalk and began to scribble down what I had learned from the computer.
"Hey, what's this?" I heard him ask.
I turned to see him holding a cylinder of gray fluid.
"Oh, no!" I said as I dropped the chalk and ran over to him. "Don't touch that!"
I took it from him as he looked on with confusion.
"Sorry." I said as I hugged it to my chest. "That's just really delicate."
"What is it?" he asked.
"It's a molecular adhesive. It's supposed to be an alternative to band-aids." I said. "It's waterproof and it would dissolve once the wound is able to go on without it."
"Let me guess. It doesn't work?"
I shook my head.
"The molecules are unstable."
He eyed the chalk board.
"And that?"
I put the container of goop down on a shelf and moved back over to the board.
"It's supposed to be the cure for cancer. I've been researching a lot about it and I think I can be the one to do it."
"You say a lot of things, Ben."
I turned my head to face him.
"Last week you thought you came up with a way to provide clean water for lower classed countries."
"I think I can."
"The week before that you thought you knew the key to terraforming Mars and Nasa hasn't even landed humanity on the damn rock yet!"
"I think I could know the answer."
Nathan face palmed, before looking at me once more.
"Ben, I have to ask. What makes you think that you could cure cancer?"
I turned back to the board.
"Well, I can…" I spoke but I began to trail off. "Okay, maybe I can't. Some of the principles are just too much to wrap my head around."
"Wow. Something has the Great Ben Tennyson stumped? That's amazing."
I didn't say anything. I stared at the board, as if I was entranced by the words scribbled onto it.
"Well, you seem like you're in a bit of a daze." Nathan said, breaking the silence. "So, I'm going to go ahead and just check out, okay?"
I didn't answer and heard Nathan walk to the stairs up to the main floor.
"See you on Monday?"
I turned my head, but my eyes didn't leave the board.
"Yeah."
Nathan continued walking up until I heard the door open and close again. I continued standing there, staring off into space.
Author's Note:
* And that is the first chapter of the Ben 10: Ultimate Alien storyline! I hope you all enjoyed!
* I just want to say that the story will be moving slowly at first. Don't expect Ben to get the Omnitrix until at least Chapter Six.
* So, I was really excited to get this story started, so I'm really interested in what anyone thinks. So, reviews, follows and favorites would be much appreciated. If you have something you want to say or if you have an opinion, please don't be shy, any feedback at all would be appreciated!
* Anyway, that's going to do it for me. I'm going to go though, so have a Bwen-tastic day and bye.
Next Chapter: Ben begins his first day at Madison High School.
