Disclaimer: Indy best girl
The USS Portland (CA-33) is a heavy cruiser named after the city of Portland, Maine. The ship has served in every major carrier battle of the pacific, earning 16 battle stars from her extensive service, leading it to be the seventh most decorated US ship in history. This is her story.
Portland's POV:
"INDDYYYYYYYY-CHANNNNNNNN!" I covered my adorable sister's eyes, "Guess who?"
"Shut up, Portland." Indy sighed.
"You guessed me on the first time!" I took my hands off my sister and hugged her tightly. "Indy's sooooo cute and smart! Your hair smells luxurious as always… MHmghgm…"
"Portland, people are looking." Indy elbowed me weakly.
"Have you grown?" I slid my hands under her clothes. "Two hours ago, It was a D-cup, 3-"

"Inddyyyy" I rubbed my head, "That hurts..."
"Portland, we've talked about this before." Indy readjusted her clothes.
"Indy-chan, Do you want me to get you some donuts to make up for it?" I asked her.
"Only if you put away the camera you hide in your superstructure." Indy pointed at my barrel.
.
.
"Indy-chan, it will pain me beyond what I can go through if I don't keep my camera around me at all times. I have a special bond with my camera, and I will never let it go." I got on my knees, "Will it hurt so much to let me keep my treasured belonging next to me at all times?"
"I could just eat by myself." Indy offered.
I grabbed her shoulder, "I won't use the camera. Just eat with me!"
"So you will allow me to clear the camera's memory when we're done?" Indy asked.
.
.
.
.
.
"Well…"
"I figured." Indy turned away. "You're always up to no good."
Indy…
.
"All I wanted to do is to have fun with you..." I pleaded. "Do you hate me?"
.
.
.
.
"Just this once." Indy sighed.
"INNNnnnDDdDDY!" I hugged her tightly. "I wuv youuu!"
"I know." She patted me.
Mhmmmm…
I watched Indy gently nibble at the donut. It was just so cute! The way that she left petite bite marks on the outer ring of the donut, and how she winced a tiny bit when she accidentally licked the icing…
I could watch this all day.
"Portland, you're drooling." Indy looked up.
"Hmmm?"
"Portland, please stop." Indy took a napkin and wiped my face.
"Inddydyyyyyyyy. You're so cute…" I giggled lightly.
"Is there alcohol in your donut?" Indy backed away.
"So cute that I just want to pinch your chubby cheeks." I reached for Indy's face.
"Portland…"
"Your skin is so smooth." I rubbed Indy.
"Um… If this is not a good time, I'll just inform Shikikan." Someone said.
"It's fine, Enterprise." Indy said.
ENTERPRISE!
"This is a completely fine time. I was doing nothing suspicious, just having some family time with Indy, who I have a completely platonic and non-abusive relationship with!" I smiled. "How was your day?"
If I get caught touching Indy again, Enterprise will send me to the academy! I don't want to be rehabilitated again...
"Okayy…" The albino narrowed her eyebrows. "Anyways, you two have to do a commision with Lexington and Chicago. They are waiting at the dock for you."
"Got it." I nodded. "As the self controlled and law abiding venerable citizen that I am, I will meritfully serve the Eagle Union! I have changed from the pennetary!"
"Okay, Portland." Enterprise raised an eyebrow.
"Hello!" I waved to a blonde ship and a pinked haired one. "Are you Lexington?"
"You must be Portland then." The pink haired lady nodded, "I am Lexington, Everybody's favorite big-sis idol! This is Chicago."
"Nice to meet y'all." Chicago shook my hand.
"Who's the one behind you?" Lexington asked.
"This is my sister, Indianapolis! She's the cutest little thing, but has some problems talking with others." I reached for my Indy collection, "But that makes her even cuter! Look, I have some photos of her sleeping…"
"Hello, Indianapolis." Lexington reached out for her. "I'm Lexington. Nice to meet you."
"Tell her nice to meet you." Indy whispered in my ear.
"She says nice to meet you." I told Lexington.
"You don't have to be afraid of me." Lexington told Indy, "Just treat me as your big sister."
"Sister?" Indy asked.
"That's right." Lexington reached out for a handshake.
"Take a step back." Indy aimed her guns at Lexington. "Don't touch me, old pervert!"
.
.
.
.
Lexington stumbled back.
"You okay, Lex?" Chicago caught the aircraft carrier.
"Everybody likes me. Everybody likes me." Lexington fanned herself as she repeated her mantras. "I'm a popular YOUNG Idol…"
"Sooo," I changed the subject, "What's our commission?"
"It's to bring planes to Midway Island." Chicago layed Lexington, in the midst of an existential crisis, on the ground. "Though I don't know if we can do that now."
.
.
"Portland." Indy tapped my shoulder, "Say I'm sorry."
"Indy," I put her in front of me, "Why don't you say it? You need to be able to talk to other people soon.."
"Portland, this isn't funny." Indy struggled against my grip, "Just apologize for me."
"What's the worst that can happen?" I led her to what remained of Lexington.
"Portland, Please." Indy whispered, "I'll let you sleep next to me tonight."
"Indy says she's sorry!" I gave my hand to Lexington as Indy scampered behind me. "She's a bit on edge, and released some pressure at the wrong time. I'm sure she would be happy to visit you at one of your concerts!"
"Oh." Lexington brightened up, "I see. This was all just a misunderstanding. Ha ha!"
"That's right!" I laughed nervously.
Chicago looked at me funny. "Anyways, let's get started then."
"Got it." Lexington took some Tier 2 Vindicator Bombers. "Onwards to Midway!"
"Say, why are we sending planes to Midway anyways?" I asked.
"We're preparing for war with the Sakura Empire. It's a show of force to make them second guess aligning themselves with the Sirens." Chicago told me. "Though I have some slight suspicions that there might be more to the story."
"You think we're going to war?" I strafed next to her.
"It certainly looks like it. I don't think it's a good idea though." Chicago sighed, "My sister Houston, commander of the Union fleet in the Philippines, has complained to me about the lack of preparation and supplies in the Asiatic fleet."
"My sister is the cutest though!" I got out my picture book. "Here's one of her checking her weight, an-"
"Shut up Portland." Indy swiped at the picture.
"Oh?" Lexington cruised over, "How much do you weigh?"
"Ten thousand one hundred and ten tons!" I patted Indy. "Pretty chubby for a cruiser." (1)
"Portland!" Indy repeatedly hit me, red as a strawberry.
"That's more than me…" Chicago looked down before sighing to herself.
"That's nothing to be ashamed of." Lexington consoled Indy. "The more tons you have, the more power. You see, My little sister Saratoga defeated Yorktown in the 1938 naval exercises!"
"Yorktown? The big sister of secretary Enterprise?"
"That's right!" Lexington pulled out a plushy of a petite pink haired girl. "She took down Yorktown! Isn't that wonderful?"
"How did you make that?!" I asked, "And can you make one of Indy?"
"My sister and I are Idols." Lexington bragged, "It's only natural that we know how to make products."
"That's so cool!" I looked at the doll. "Can you make one of Indy?"
"Only if I get permission from her." Lexington began launching planes.
.
"Indy!" I steamed towards my sister who had been trailing a bit behind us. "Do you want a plushie?"
"No, not really." Indy shook her head as I sailed back to Lexington.
.
"She said yes." I told the aircraft carrier.
"I heard her." Lexington reprimanded me, "That's not good for you to do, Portland."
"I guess you're right." I sighed.
"I could make one of you though." Lexington offered.
.
.
.
.
"It's nothing like Indy, but I guess that's okay." I settled.
"Great." Lexington reached out her hand, and the planes around her began to grab threads of silk. Each one was connected to a specific color, and they began to fly around each other. Eventually, the threads connected to form a rough shape of a doll.
It was amazing. All the planes were connected to streams of colorful thread, creating tapestries of colors in the sky.
"Amazing, isn't it?" Lexington ordered her planes, "I call it, Avrora Borealis."
"It's almost as pretty as Indy." I look as the jets flew around each other in a dream-like fashion.
"And it's done." Lexington caught a figure of me as the planes began to land. "Here you go." (1)
"Thanks!" I took the doll. "Indy! I got a gift for you!"
"Are you sure, Portland?" Indy asked, "You wouldn't get your own then."
"It's fine!" I put the doll in Indy's arms. "Cute sisters are supposed to be spoiled. Don't worry about me!"
"Thanks, Portland." Indy looked down.
"No problems!" I hugged Indy.
A loud radio static noise came from Lexington's direction.
"Lexington! IS this you?" A voice yelled from the device.
"Enterprise? Isn't Skikikan supposed to be on this line?" Lexington asked.
"A lot of things happened, Lexington." Enterprise told her. "I will be taking command of the Eagle Union Navy until Shikikan's recovery."
"Recovery? What happened?"
"Earlier today, the Eagle Union harbor was attacked by Sakura Forces. We are now at war."
Footnotes:
(1): Well, technically Indy's only around 1000 tons larger than her predecessors of the Northampton class. However, the US mainly built cruisers up to the Washington naval treaty's limits, so although Indy would have been a similar size to other US cruisers, she would be pretty large compared to the later, newer light cruisers.
(2): This is the doll shown in Indy's "At school with my sister" skin.
I am sooooo glad I managed to finish this on Portland's launching day! Happy 88th B-day, Portland!
Anyways, I will try to make this story as historical as possible, so if you find anything wrong, please tell me!
Thanks for reading! I'll hopefully see you next week.
