Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. J. K. Rowling does.
Preface:
Boom! Those was the first sounds that greeted Harry to his eleventh birthday. Boom!. Harry sat up from where he lay on the shack to just look up and see his Uncle Vernon holding a gun rushed into his room and yelled to the stranger who was at the front door "GO AWAY!" There was silence. Then a tremendous bang echoed and the front door blew down. A man stepped into the shack. He wore odd black, flowing long cloak that looked like a dress. He was thin, with yellowish skin, a large hooked nose and yellow uneven teeth. His eyes were stone cold. He had long greasy black hair which framed his face.
"Potter," said the man. "Come with me." His tone was very silky.
"Sir! I demand you to leave," Uncle Vernon roared, jabbing his gun at the man. Aunt Petunia rushed in. Her face when she saw Snape was utmost shock.
"Snape?" Aunt Petunia gasped. "What are you doing here?".
"You know this freak?" Uncle Vernon spat, looking at the man with hate.
"He was Lily's freaky friend," Aunt Petunia replied. The man took a step forwards.
"Don't you dare come here!" bellowed Uncle Vernon, raising his gun a little higher. There was a bang, a jet of red sparks and Uncle Vernon's gun went flying out of his hand. Aunt Petunia screamed. Harry and Dudley was watching fearfully.
"Come," said Snape, looking at Harry and Dudley. Dudley whimpered. The man strode forward and roughly seized Dudley. "The next time I order you to come, come Potter!" He spat at Dudley.
"I'm not Harry, " said Dudley fearfully. "He's Harry." Harry was filled with dread. This Snape was going to kidnap him. He got up and darted towards the door.
"Potter! Come back here at once! Accio Potter!" Snape yelled, jabbing his wand at Harry. There was a whooshing noise and Harry found himself flying towards the man. "Got you," the man snarled. Harry bit the man in the leg as hard as he could. The man howled in agony. Seizing the chance, Harry ran towards the door. He spotted a boat in the lake which the man had come and jumped into it, lifting the oars and starting to row as fast as he could. "COME BACK! THATS MY BOAT! " roared Snape brandishing his wand. Harry rowed faster and faster. Soon, all he could he was the gentle sway of the water and Snape's distant yells. Harry rowed on and on until he reached the bank. He jumped out and tied the boat. What was he going to do? He had no home, no food, no anything. True at the Dursleys they had never really cared for him but they had at least given him food and a bed. He needed a place to stay. Then a thought came to him. He knew that there was an orphanage in Charring Cross road. If he could get there, he could be adopted. Now all he needed was to get there. Suddenly there was a crack and he experienced the sensation of being squeezed through an exceptionally small tube.
Harry appeared onto Charring Cross road, panting. What had happened? One moment he had been standing at the bank of a river and now he was at Charring Cross! All he had to do now was to find the orphanage. He couldn't find it! It was gone! He had remembered it was exactly at the place where now a very shabby looking pub 'The Leaky Cauldron' was situated. Harry looked at the pub in astonishment. What had happened? Harry looked around. There was a ten pound note lying a few feet away from him. Harry decided to have drink. He picked up the note and walked towards the door of the pub.
When he opened the door he was greeted by the most strangest thing he ever saw. People were crowded at the tables. But the odd thing was they were all wearing cloaks that Snape man wore. When Harry entered, the people all looked up. They looked at him in astonishment. Suddenly, a old man who was wearing a purple cloak said, "Blimey, is this Harry Potter?" . There was a silence as everyone looked at Harry. Then, everyone suddenly got up and moved to greet him.
" Dedalus Diggle, pleasure to meet you Harry Potter!" squeaked an man wearing an emerald cloak.
"Tom Abbot, owner of the Leaky Cauldron," said Tom the barkeeper.
"Welcome back to the Wizarding World Mr. Potter!" an reporter said. "I am Rita Skeeter, Daily Prophet Reporter. How would you comment on your flashy appearance. Can you remember your parents at all?" Harry was so overwhelmed. Wizarding World? Just then, a huge man came into the pub. He was not huge. He was ginormous! He was three times the size of a normal man.
"Whats going on here?" asked the man. His tone was booming. Then he spotted Harry. "Harry!" said the man.
"Errr, hi," said Harry awkwardly
"Nice to meet you Harry, I'm Rubeus Hagrid, Hogwarts GameKeeper but I expect you know that already."
"Err, Sorry," Harry said, "whats Hogwarts?"
"You don't know," breathed Hagrid. "You don't know?"
"Know what," Harry asked curiously. Hagrid was about to answer when a owl came zooming through the door. It was carrying a letter. How odd.
"Its for you," Hagrid said. "Read it first and you'll understand." Harry took the letter. It was addressed to him in yellowish parchment envelope and written in emerald ink. Harry slit it open. It read: HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY.
