First of all, a big shout out to my team of pre-readers and beta: NimNimBonjangles, bevey99, and Fran. Thank you so much for all the help with this story.
Also, a huge thank you to all of you who've read, fav'ed, followed, and reviewed this. It means a lot to me.
[Bella]
When the bus pulled up in Forks High School's parking lot, I wasn't ready to see the disappointment on Jake's face when I told him I wasn't able to come to La Push. The truth was, I wasn't as much tired as I just didn't feel like socializing right now.
I chewed on my bottom lip, feeling warmth seeping through my veins as images from last night replayed in my mind.
No one had ever been able to make me come with only a couple of minutes of just finger-play. I hadn't pegged Edward as that kind of lover – to focus on his partner's needs. In all honesty, I didn't even expect to come last night, before we started.
I felt my panties getting soaked as images of his intense, lust-hooded green eyes danced before my closed lids. The ghost memory of his hands on my body, of the moment he slipped into me. I stifled a whimper at that particular memory. My guess in the condom length had been accurate, but nothing could have prepared me for his girth.
I'd had my fair share of boyfriends and one-night stands, but no one had come even close to last night's experience. I still couldn't believe Edward was an eighteen-year-old, because he knew exactly what he was doing with his dick and my body.
Again, the envy tasted bitter in my mouth, but his previous experience molded him into the perfect lover.
Part of me was worried about my decision to invite him over.
I hoped no one would notice his car following mine.
As we left the bus, Jake was busy scolding some boys for pushing each other as they climbed down. I stood aside, waiting for the perfect moment to cancel our plans.
My eyes searched for Edward as my heart thumped wildly in my chest. He was walking toward his car, focused on the phone in his hand, ignoring his friend talking animatedly next to him.
My phone pinged in my pocket, making me jump. I pulled it out, already knowing the message was from him.
The way he'd left me that note was the sweetest thing ever. He'd even used my words about wanting to do it again soon.
Raincheck?
My heart pummeled to my stomach, and I felt irrationally disappointed. I was set to cancel my plans with Jake, and even though seeing Edward was the main reason, and I didn't feel like being around others, I suddenly felt alone. It was stupid.
He had his own life.
He had to be home. His family was most likely worried about the delay in his arrival due to our thirty-minute stop on the side of the road. Some cables at the battery had come loose, which resulted in our little impromptu stop.
Don't worry; I typed back. I wanted to say more, to tell him he could come over later, whenever he wanted, but that was going to be extremely pushy and not appropriate at all.
Now that we'd crossed the line, we had to tread carefully. It was going to be extremely difficult.
Jacob stopped by my side as I covered a yawn with my hand. He shot me an amused look.
"What the hell did you people do last night?" he grunted. "Half of the bus was sleepy this morning."
My breath had caught in my throat after his first question, but I shakily exhaled when he didn't mention just Edward and me being tired.
"I couldn't sleep," I lied. "All that excitement, you know."
"Yeah, I get it. If you're tired, we can postpone the trip to La Push," he offered.
"Are you sure?"
"Go and sleep, Bella. You'll be no good for these little monsters tomorrow." He winked.
I snorted, shaking my head. "They're not that bad." Some are better than others; one in particular actually…a mighty fine creature. Thinking of Edward, I looked over, seeing him holding his door open and talking to his friend. His eyes met mine for a moment, and a smile tugged at his soft lips.
I focused back on Jake when McCarty spun around to check who had made his friend smile. Sadly, Jacob had noticed the exchange, too. He walked me to my car, awfully quiet.
He cleared his throat once I had the back door shut after I'd thrown my bags in. I turned to face him warily. "Is Cullen giving you trouble?"
"What? No," I said quickly. "What gives you that idea?"
He shrugged, glancing over his shoulder in Edward's direction. "I just know him. He picks random teachers to irk them to death."
"I think I'm safe," I laughed shakily. "During our time together when we repotted the plants, he made it clear about his dislike for Tanya."
Jake barked a loud laugh. "Yeah, she's not even trying to make herself likable. Anyway…watch out."
"Thanks," I muttered, getting behind the wheel of my car.
If that brief, innocent look had attracted attention to us, it meant we had to be extra careful.

.
.
It was early evening, and I was snuggled on the couch with a book when the doorbell rang.
I sprang up, nerves racketing through my body.
I opened the door, and before I could focus on Edward's drenched hair and clothes, he walked me back into my apartment, shutting the door with his foot. His hands went into my hair and his mouth covered mine as he groaned loudly.
"Fuck, Bella. I can't stop thinking of you."
I shuddered at his warm breath on my lips, and his words made me melt. My hands went under his hoodie, grabbing his shirt and clinging to him as we kissed for an eternity. I'd never tire of feeling his soft lips pressed against mine, the way his tongue felt against mine, the way his sweet breath filled me, making me dizzy.
Suddenly, he spun me around, slamming my back against the wall. One of his hands went into my yoga pants, cupping me over the panties. They were already wet.
"Shit," he gasped, rubbing me through the material, as his lips latched at my throat.
"Yes," I breathed, digging my hand into his ass. I had no idea what he was doing to me, how he knew exactly what I liked, and the way he touched me made me putty in his hands.
Edward hoisted my legs up, pushing his desire for me against the spot where I needed him. My pussy throbbed with need. My toes curled when he kept pushing, grunting into my hair.
"Bedroom," I managed to gasp. "That way." I pointed a shaky finger down the hallway.
Edward kept a strong grip on me, amazing me yet again with his strength, as he walked me toward my bedroom. He lowered me on the bed, wasting no time in taking off my clothes.
I shimmered up the bed, digging into my nightstand for the box of condoms I'd placed there after unpacking. I felt his warm, naked body covering mine.
"I'm prepared now," he whispered into my ear, turning me to face him. "Want to demonstrate how to unroll a condom on the real thing?" he asked cheekily.
I rolled my eyes. "You got one dip into me, and now you think you can talk to me like that?" I used my most stern voice.
His eyes widened, and he stammered, trying to correct himself. But then he probably noticed I was just teasing. His eyes narrowed playfully, his head bending closer until our noses touched.
"Two can play this game, Ms. Swan."
A gush of juices wet my thigh at the way he addressed me. I'd made the mistake of letting him know how much it turned me on when he called me that. I was so going to regret it in the long run.
I plucked the condom from his hand, holding his eyes. "Two can play a game, Mr. Cullen." He gulped thickly as I slowly covered his perfect dick in the latex. His eyes stayed on my fingers, stroking his erection. When I started pumping him slowly, he threw his head back, groaning loudly.
"No, please." He stilled my hand, curling his fingers around my wrist.
I wrapped my legs around him, guiding him inside me. He cursed loudly, a muscle jumping in his cheek. I let him slide in as slowly as he needed. It also gave me a moment to adjust to his generous girth. Thankfully I was so wet he slipped in painlessly.
Edward linked our fingers, bringing our joined hands on each side of my head when he started moving inside me. He pulled out almost all the way before sinking back slowly, all the while holding my eyes.
This wasn't the frenzied sex I expected after his display in the hallway. This was something I didn't dare name because it would tear me apart when he left for college and moved on with his life.
I tried to remind myself this was a fling – the most taboo sex ever to exist. It was ours, and no one would ever know about it.
But when I looked into his hooded green eyes, I could see much more than a fling. He wanted more. That was not possible, so I had to ground him and remind him exactly what this was. I had to remind myself it was just sex.
We didn't hurry our pace, and when we came, he cried out my name, kissing me until I had to pull away from his mouth to breathe.
I wrapped my arms around his sweaty back, holding him close until he slipped out. Reluctantly, he unrolled the condom, tying it on the way to the bathroom. I stared after his glorious naked body, already missing him. I wiped the mess between my legs with my discarded panties.
When Edward returned, he hovered at the foot of the bed, indecision clear on his face.
He had to go.
He could never stay.
Wincing as if he was in pain, he picked up his boxer briefs. I watched as he slowly got dressed as if he didn't want to cover his body. I didn't want his body to be covered either. My eyes drank in the defined planes of his abs, right before the white tee obstructed my view. He held his hoodie in his hand, staring at me for a long minute before chucking it away and crawling over me.
"Fuck. Stop looking at me like I killed your favorite pet."
"I miss you already," I said quietly, aware how silly I sounded.
A smile graced his beautiful face. "Me too. I have to go. I was supposed to go for a jog."
I giggled, running my fingers through his wet hair. "Well, you did your cardio."
He chuckled, kissing my lips slowly. "See you tomorrow, Ms. Swan." He pulled away, picked his hoodie up, and he was on his way out of the room before I could blink.
I hurried to get myself dressed and walk him out, but as I struggled to push my sweaty legs into my yoga pants, I heard the front door slamming shut.
It was clear Edward was in a hurry to leave, but not because he was worried about his family wondering where he was, but because if he lingered, he was likely not to leave any time soon.
I decided to take a bath and soak, trying not to think of him for a few minutes. It was even more difficult now when his scent lingered in the air, on my skin.
The last time I'd gotten too close to someone had been during my time with Alec. He got under my skin, just like Edward did, but at least, my whole relationship with Alec had been legal.
The sane part of my brain shouted at me to put an end to this before it backfired on me. No secret of such gravity was likely to stay hidden for long. I couldn't even think what it meant if we got caught. The mere idea that I could face jail, terrified me. It should be the perfect reason to pull Edward aside on Monday and tell him this was over.
But I couldn't. I was too weak when it came to stopping whatever we were doing. He had so much power over me; it scared me to no end.

.
.
On Monday morning, I arrived late because of the unplanned trip to the gas station. I hadn't realized how far the needle was pointing to the left until I started the car at twenty minutes to eight.
Somehow, my juniors were quietly waiting when I rushed into the classroom only ten minutes late.
I didn't get a minute for myself until lunchtime. After my first classes of the day, I graded some papers, then started organizing my files for each student for the upcoming Parent-Teacher meetings.
Jasper had sent me an email reminding me about it, and when I'd seen it during my second class, I wanted to cry.
There was not enough time to compile good files by Friday, but hopefully, the parents wouldn't think I was disorganized. I often found lapses in the curriculum the students should have been taught. Either they hadn't studied, or Mr. Banner hadn't covered that subject.
I hated cramming stuff in their heads so close to the end of school.
With only a few weeks to go, I decided to focus on the juniors and the AP seniors – they were the ones who needed the information the most. The others weren't going to miss out much. Besides, it was unlikely they'd pursue a career where they'd need all the details in the textbook. Not like all my AP Biology class needed the info, either, but most of them were there because of the college they wanted to attend. Only a few of them took that class to get enough credits to pass the year.
I intercepted Jake on the way to the cafeteria, just outside the doors.
"Do you ever leave that tower of yours during the day?" he joked.
"I was busy working on the PT meetings."
"Ugh. Don't remind me. I'm going to hear all the parents complaining that I'm a brute to their kids."
"At least, you know what to expect," I mumbled, getting in line to get food.
He went on, as if he didn't hear me. "I'd like to do a poll and ask which subject is most hated by the students: PE or Math."
"Based on the teacher – Math will win hands down," I said seriously.
He laughed loudly, throwing his head back. "You haven't seen me teach, Bella. I just want them to learn something and understand that sports are good for their health."
"And we can't live without math, but I stand my ground. You versus Tanya?" I snorted.
"Yeah, I know what you mean."
We carried our trays to our table. He slumped in his chair, stretching his legs under the table.
"Now, watch them pig out with the season being over." His eyes were on the basketball team.
It was true. Their trays were filled with burgers and fries, and soda.
"You deprived them of the good stuff."
"See? I'm going to lose in that competition." He winked.
"Seriously, you're delusional." I picked at my salad, pleased to see more chicken bits than leaves. "Tanya doesn't stand a chance against you."
"You're designed to say that. I'm a man. You're a woman. But ask any of those horny boys. They'll choose Tanya."
"Only if they're blind," I deadpanned. "Besides, we're not talking about a competition between who's hotter between the two of you. We're talking about who's the best at the job. Not even that, really. The question was about the subject you're each teaching."
A throat clearing startled us. Edward was standing in front of our table.
"You said Monday, Coach. It's Monday. I want to sign my name on that shirt."
"The jersey and the ball are in my office. You'll sign them during gym," Jake said seriously.
Edward winced, glancing at me. He opened his mouth to say something, but Jake sat up straighter in his seat.
"If you plan to skip my classes now that the basketball season is over, you're going to be the first person in the world to fail PE."
"You're the worst," Edward mumbled.
"See? They hate me," Jake grinned my way, winking.
Edward huffed, storming away. I watched as he threw himself in his chair, slapping Rosalie's hand when she patted his head.
"Yeah, you're the devil in person," I agreed, rolling my eyes.
After lunch, I returned to my tower, as Jake had called the Biology laboratory.
Part of me expected Edward to be there, but I knew he was still in the cafeteria with his friends when I'd left that place.
I returned to the files I was working on. All I'd managed to do were half of my juniors because there were so many details to cover.
When students started arriving, I realized it was a lost cause to concentrate on that with all the talking now in the room. Sometimes, it felt like there were fifty of them, not merely ten people.
I was surprised to see Edward and Rosalie stepping into the room laughing together. It was the most friendly I'd ever seen them, especially with the recent events of Edward breaking Rosalie's friend's heart.
"Yorkie won't make it," Edward said, stopping next to me. "He was sent to the nurse."
I tried not to let it show how surprised I was. "Is he all right?"
"Who cares?" He shrugged, fighting off a smile.
"What caused his visit to the nurse?" I searched his eyes.
"It wasn't me," he muttered.
"I didn't say that."
"He tried to grope Rosalie. Let's say Yorkie forgot who her boyfriend is." Smirking, he went to his desk.
Ah, the high school drama. I could clearly remember how often boys got in fights over some girl.
I went to close the door, then I took my spot, leaning against the front of my desk. I'd chosen pale blue jeans today and a soft red shirt. I kept the top two buttons undone. I planned on being the mature one and stop the games we'd been playing during my class.
I introduced them to our subject for today: DNA fingerprinting.
"Is this another practical lesson?" Mike Newton asked loudly. "What not to do so you don't get caught by the cops?"
"DNA fingerprinting or DNA profiling is indeed a forensic technique in criminal investigations, comparing criminal suspects' profiles to DNA evidence to assess the likelihood of their involvement in the crime. It is also used in parentage testing, to establish immigration eligibility, and in genealogical and medical research."
I kept talking until I had to pause for a sip of water. It wasn't often when they didn't interrupt me, but some lessons didn't offer much interaction between us. However, what the class didn't know was that I had something fun for them planned.
When I noticed the bored looks on their faces, halfway through our lesson, I decided to let them in on my surprise.
"Anyone who wants to know what their fingerprints look like, I've got an ink pad and several blank papers. It's non-toxic, so don't worry," I said smiling, noticing I got their attention.
"Are you going to turn these into the police?" Newton asked, slightly worried.
"Do you have a reason to be worried about the police having your fingerprints, Mr. Newton?" I tried not to laugh.
"He's probably worried Stanley will have him arrested for trying to rape her ass in his attempt to fuck her pussy."
"Edward!" I shouted, not even caring I used his first name. He wasn't the only one I called by the first name. "Apologize right now."
He looked at me incredulously. "I think Newton should apologize to that poor girl."
I clenched my jaw, reminding myself not to get riled up. "You're staying after class."
"Of course, Ms. Swan."
I had no idea why I expected him to protest.
He had to say my name like that, in a voice that sounded like dripping sex.
One by one, every student came to test the ink pad. They all left with a handful of sanitizers, scrubbing vigorously at their fingertips.
At the end of the class, I allowed them to have the sheets with their fingerprints.
When the door shut after Angela, the last to gather her things and leave, I went to Edward's desk.
"You realize such behavior is not accepted, right?"
"Are you going to tell Whitlock?" He looked up at me through his dark lashes as one of his hands ran over my thigh.
I pushed his hand away. "Not in school," I hissed. "And, I won't have to take you to Mr. Whitlock if you stop bullying Mr. Newton."
"I'm bullying him?" he protested.
"You've been taunting him from the beginning."
He shrugged. "Newton's an easy target. And it's the truth."
"I don't care if your accusations are true or false; just stop it. He might be crass and rude, but you don't have to point it out to him. It makes you look stupid, stooping to his level."
Edward grinned, grabbing my ass with his hands, pulling me closer. I stumbled, holding myself with a hand on his shoulder. He winced slightly, reminding me of his injury. It also helped me escape his clutches.
"How's your shoulder?" I returned to my desk.
"Stiff," he mumbled, then shot me a heated look. "You know what else is stiff?"
"I swear to God, Cullen!" The door opened brutally, and Jake stormed inside. "I'm tired of hearing Ms. Hale telling me you were held up somewhere when you have to be in my class!"
I hadn't realized how long I'd kept him in there. "It's my fault," I said, glancing at Edward. "I wanted to talk to him after class."
Jake scoffed. "I bet you loved having an excuse to miss my class."
"It wasn't like Swan was going to keep me here for fifty minutes. I'd have made it to the gym…eventually. Or maybe I'd have gotten lost on the way." Edward shrugged. "We'll never know now because you'll drag me there kicking and screaming."
Jake looked furious for a moment, making me understand what he'd said about the students not taking his class seriously. I expected better from Edward, though. He was the captain of the basketball team.
"Suit yourself, Cullen. I'd love to hear your excuse to Dr. Cullen when you'll have to kiss your Cornell dream goodbye because you skipped PE."
The door slammed shut after Jacob.
For the first time, I saw actual fear in Edward's eyes. "Fuck." He snatched his bag, hurrying to the door. He opened it, then looked back at me, not sure what to do.
"Go," I urged.
A moment later, his sneakers squeaked loudly in the hallway as he called after Jake to slow down.
I fell into my chair, letting my head loll back as I stared at the ceiling. Apparently, Edward wasn't going to make my life easier.
