New story for the Vampire Diaries! This is something that I have been planning on doing ever since that last episode in Season 3: there were so many ideas I got from it that I wanted to use the ideas to create a story. So this is my attempt at creating my version of what happens after Season 3 and trust me what I will be writing will be as much of a surprise to you as it is to me, so in other words I am writing this without a plan. However, knowing me I will eventually create a plan and mostly follow it afterwards.
This story starts just after Damon has realised Elena is dead. It occurs just when it changes scene to Alaric and Jeremy. Hope you enjoy this new story!
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of the Vampire Diaries. Unfortunately.
Chapter 1:
Jeremy walked down the stairs quickly, phone in the hand dialing his sister's ex-boyfriend. He let it ring once, twice, three times until it went to the answerphone. "Matt, man where are you guys? You should have been back by now." He quickly took his last step on the stairs, letting the panic seep into his voice. He was beyond worried about Elena. He knew that with her being outside and in the open any vampire could get to her. Any vampire could kill her.
As he turned to enter the living room, Jeremy felt a change in the air. He felt as if he was being watched. A noise sounded in front of him and Jeremy saw a tall shadow in the archway.
"Jeremy." The deep, sorrowful voice spoke. Jeremy's eyes opened wider and watched as Alaric stepped forward. He slowly lowered his phone from his ear and watched Alaric's every move. Jeremy's hand slightly shook as he realised who and what was in front of him, and how easily he could die. He also couldn't understand how Alaric had gotten into the house.
Alaric walked into the light with a wistful expression aimed at Jeremy.
"Look, haven't you done enough?" Jeremy questions as his stance tenses for an attack. He took a deep breath and furrowed his brow. "And how did you even get in here?"
"I don't know. I just wanted to say goodbye and it kind of happened." Alaric replied softly to Jeremy. Alaric watched as Jeremy's brow furrowed further.
"Ric?" Jeremy said hopefully. Jeremy watched as Alaric smiled sadly at him and stepped towards Jeremy even more.
"I just want you to know that I will always be here to look after you Jeremy." Nodding his head he continued. "That you'll never be alone. Okay? I promise." He smiled at Jeremy and watched as Jeremy's hope crashed as he slowly started to realise what Alaric meant.
"I don't understand." He said looking at Alaric before finally everything made complete sense. "Oh my God, you're a ghost. But if you're dead, that means Elena..." He eyes widened when he realised the extent of what was happening. Alaric was dead. Alaric's life was entwined with Elena's. That meant only one thing: Elena was dead.
I watched them interact. I watched as they reunited. I watched as my brother realised how Alaric came to be there. I watched as he realised that I was dead. That's all I could do. I could only watch. I was trapped. I didn't even know what I was trapped in. I could see everything, hear everything but I was alone. No one heard my screams. No one heard my pleas and no one came to my rescue. I have ceased to exist.
