Just some things I wanted to address before getting to the story. Yes, this is going to be a rewrite of the previous Dr. Doom x Rising of the Shield Hero because a lot of the criticisms I've gotten from people I wanted to take seriously and improve upon. Specifically the one about the story being the same as the original anime. It was a true and fair critique and one that I'm wanting to fix in this story as well as another story I'm writing, but this story, I feel, needed to have a fresh start to achieve it in better capacity. This includes a new cover for it so please tell me what you think of it when you get the chance!

From here on, I'm going to try to make everything more authentic and believable for what would happen if Victor Von Doom actually was brought into the world rather than Naofumi. Thank you to everyone that didn't hold back with their comments/reviews and and, I hope you all had a great Christmas, Hanukkah, Yule, or whichever holiday you celebrate this time of year!

Dr. Doom

Latveria

The heat rose as the flames which emitted from the Human Torch, Johnny Storm, launched an assault of fire within the castle walls. Each beam of flames struck both the Doombots and wool, the metal melting and banners burning. Within a space encased by violet energy was the Invisible Woman, Sue Richards, and Mr. Fantastic, Reed Richards. They rushed forward, bursting through each of the Doombots with ease. The three reached the end of the hall within a little more than a minute.

Sue took down her field, allowing her husband to expand his arms until they were about half the size of the double wooden doors. He then threw his white gloved hands forward and crashed through them, leading to another hall filled with more robots. Before the other two rushed forward, the flaming one reeled back his hand and threw another burst of fire upwards, hitting the camera the Latverian ruler was using to observe them within the room. When it struck, the monitor's screen turned black before reading that the signal had been lost. This made the metal-clad man chuckle on his heels.

"They wish to pursue me? So be it." Dr. Victor Von Doom began his descent down the steps to his throne, placing his hands behind his back, "Those fools are down a man already." Victor marched forward, aiming for the doorway to his expansive library where the final battle would take place. "Today will be the day Doom triumphs over that pest, Richards! Victor Von Doom shall win this day!"

While he marched through his halls, he kept an eye on the three of the Fantastic Four, who were now closer to struggling against the increase in the quality and quantity of the Doombots, which now outnumbered them fifteen to one within the dining hall. Sue would throw one of the dining tables against five of the robots, though one broke through the middle to shoot a blast of energy towards her. This was intercepted by her brother via a fire bolt which redirected it towards the ground. He switched off towards a few Doombots which were scattered along the walls, a feature inspired by a particularly annoying wallcrawler, who were primed on the flaming, flying man. He threw a wall of fire along the path of bots, melting their appendages and sending them to the ground. Meanwhile, Richards was bending around the soldiers which surrounded him and constricting a few in a line like a snake would.

The robots were crushed like an aluminum can before they were thrown towards a crowd of their brethren, the crushed batteries inside them combusting and destroying nearly half of them within a single attack. Before the explosion could affect any of the three 'heroes' Sue gathered the three of them and made a protective bubble around them. They were safe from the explosion; Victor was sure of it. There was no point in hoping for their demise, it would never come. Not if it wasn't by Doom's hand!

Victor took his step into the library, which was filled with books spanning the single circular wall of three levels with aisles among each story of it. Doom had read almost every book in the library and knew each of the titles of them. None of them were irreplaceable, of course, so there were no concerns of whether or not a book got destroyed or not.

This would be where Reed died, amongst the world's knowledge. On the ground with which all the collective intelligence of humanity, the best of the two would be proven to be Dr. Doom once and for all! This would be the next book in history, the one which set a new era in where Victor Von Doom reigned supreme and ruled humanity! The first page of a new chapter in the next book the Latverian would carve Moses with the Ten Commandments, this would be absolute!

He stood in the center on the library, where all the aisles pointed towards his country's insignia. In front of him, the entrance to the library burst forward, Reed in front and the other two shortly behind him.

"Victor, this ends NOW!" Reed declared, "You're going to pay for what happened to Ben and the Avengers!"

"You are correct about one of your assessments, Mr. Fantastic." Doom mocked, "This will end here, in this room. But, I will not be 'paying' for anything; Doom will win today and your friends will die soon. It is inevitable! Though, I am surprised you would be here so soon, in truth."

"Guess you're getting rusty in your old age!" Johnny taunted, suddenly bursting forward and charging his open palms forward for an attack!

"JOHNNY, DON'T-!" Invisible Woman called out! But it was too late for the young man.

The Latverian ruler jumped back, allowing the Human Torch to slam his fists into the center of the insignia. This resulted in the flaming man to be captured in a field of green electricity formed from small tethers along the outline of the insignia, which gripped around him and held him in midair. This made the Latverian chuckled as he pulled his arm up, holding a small, blinking device towards Johnny who struggled to keep his eyes open.

"So easy to draw out the anger of a fool. Now, you are but two which places me that much closer to victory!" The man boasted, opening his hands and letting the glow of his green energy release from it, "Now, do me a favor, Reed…" He thrusted his gauntlets forward and shot two concussive blasts towards his adversaries, "AND CEASE EXISTING!"

Sue stepped forward, creating a force field and redirecting the blast away from them and instead forcing it on the aisles on either side . The heroes scattered, the Invisible Woman keeping her bubble around her but leaving Reed vulnerable as he ran in the opposite direction. Victor shot more concussive blasts towards Mr. Fantastic, hitting aisles and only barely missing the elastic man. Rather than letting his frustration get to him, he took a deep breath, paused, then whipped his arm around. This blast arched, managing to hit the older man in the chest and sending him upwards and through the floor of the second story of the library!

He redirected his focus behind him, looking for Sue who left no sign of where she went. Victor grunted.

"Gas the room!" Victor commanded, the room responding with the aisles of the library bursting to life and seeping the light grey mist around the room. It didn't take long for the gas to fill the room completely, but it took a second for the gas to settle. Once it did, Victor scanned the room, waiting for any sign of movement. Or perhaps, "A gap."

Behind an aisle, a gap in the shape of a head peered around the corner just barely enough to catch Doom's eye. He immediately reached for the third floor, telekinetically grabbing it and thrusting it downwards! The debris crashed through the second floor towards her. She gasped, barely able to create an energy field in time to stop herself from being crushed by the books, wood, and stone. However, for the moment, she would not be any trouble. Though this wouldn't last so long as Reed was alive.

So, turning his attention to his rival, Victor caught him leaping over the edge of the second story railing. He stretched his right hand forward, taking hold of the chandelier which hung down just above the second story. Richards began to climb upwards, towards the clasps of the chandelier which held it to the ceiling.

"Here, Reed. Let Doom help you with that…" Doom chuckled, reaching up and grabbing hold of the decorative light before yanking it down and breaking the bolts which held it in the stone above. This caused a few bricks to fall, which unfortunately for Victor the leader of the Fantastic Four evaded. Though, with his grip now unbalanced, this action gave way to Victor violently yanking the crystal and metal downwards then sharply back towards a pillar which started one of the expansive bookshelves.

Reed was on the receiving end of the impact, being smashed against the stone and wood until the chandelier was so little that Victor could no longer grasp it due to the metal bending and breaking. The scientist crawled out from underneath it by flattening himself and slithering out like a snake. Though he wasn't unscathed, apparent through the tear in the side of the blue and white outfit and the scrape on his left upper cheek. Dr. Doom began chuckling before pointing his fingers towards Mr. Fantastic, unleashing a cavalcade of lightning towards him! The elastic man recoiled, his shape both melting and jumping in reaction to the electricity.

"You have failed this time, Richards! With the Fantastic Four gone, Doom will finish off the Avengers and Xavier's little school much like I have the Thing." Victor raised his hand in the air, grasping his hand as if he were holding the world within it. "With this victory secured, Victor Von Doom's superiority will be engraved upon this Earth!" Victor looked down at the scientist, who's scrape finally started leaking the red ichor. "I can promise you this, Richards, Doom will take good care of humanity once all of the pests are taken care of."

Reed grimaced, wiping the blood off his face as he managed to take proper shape again. He pushed himself off the ground as best he could, but only managed to get on a single knee. The two stared directly at each other.

"You will never be the ruler of Earth, Victor. It isn't your right to." Mr. Fantastic contested. Then he let out a small smirk, "Especially not today."

The ground below Dr. Doom began to shift, causing the Latverian to step back. Before he could take a full step, the ground below burst open. Taking shape from it was a large, orange mass of rock which struck the ruler in the face, sending him back into the electric trap he had set for the Human Torch! His own electricity charred the ends of the green tunic and raised the temperature of his armor. The pain was enough for Dr. Doom to let out a grunt, but he wouldn't allow anything more to escape him.

The trap expanded until the tethers no longer connected to each other, releasing the Human Torch and throwing Victor forward. He slid and sparked against the floor as he came to a stop. The ruler began to pick himself up off the floor, taking in the situation.

Reed was in the center of the room now, helping the young blonde up on his feet. Where Sue had been stuck was an impossibility, someone who should have been dead!

"Benjamin Grim, you obtuse pebble! How are you-?"

"Alive? What, ya think just 'cause you sent me to Mephisto's I'd be kept down?" He chuckled, pushing the debris to the side so Sue could climb out of her protective bubble. He turned to the Latverian ruler, "Helps to have friends that hates the Devil as much as I hate you, ain't it? Woulda worked had Ghost Rider not been there. So, either it's time for you to give up, or…" The Thing smashed his fist against an open palm before cracking his neck, "It's clobberin' time!"

Reed patted the back of his orange friend, "Glad to know you're okay. Thanks for the backup, Ben."

"Thanks fer putting that tracker on Vicky, there! Otherwise, I wouldn't know where t'go."

Victor shook his head. He looked down at his belt, finding a small device beneath the buckle. As anger built and welled in his head he crushed the device before slamming his fist against the stone. His whole plan, the one that almost had Richards dead, which proved he was better than him was thwarted by sheer luck and convenience against him! It was almost done; victory was a hair's breadth away! But, still, he was defeated…

"Not yet…"

Johnny crossed his arms, "Oh boy. He's in denial."

"Denial? No. I'm not deluded, I'm just sure about the conclusion of this encounter."

Reed stepped forward, "Please, Victor, let's just stop this. You've lost, your plan failed. We can go our separate ways from here today."

"Go our separate ways, Reed?!" Ben piped up, slamming a foot against the ground. "He sent me to Hell!"

"I second that." Johnny Storm backed up the Thing, "He went too far this time, we have to do something!"

Sue put a hand on Reed's shoulder. She wasn't happy about the decision, but it was clear where she stood. Mr. Fantastic sighed, opening a small compartment on his belt which he reached into and pulled a device from. Victor knew what it was. The Negative Zone.

"I'm sorry, Victor, but we do have jurisdiction from the United Nations. It was nearly unanimous. You've gone too far this time." The scientist relayed to the Latverian. "Any last words before I send you?"

Victor looked across the floor for something to give him the leg up. Because of how his own magic hit him, it cancelled out his own magic for a short period of time and shorted out much of his technology on him. His options were limited, it was grueling to consider that he might be desperate in this moment. However, if this transporter were to hit him, there was truly nothing he could do to escape for a while. Anything he could manage to grab hold of to give him a leg up or inspire him to what to do next!

He took hold of a book, which read 'The Cardinal Heroes.' A tale he didn't recognize from his collection. As he placed his hand on the book, he could feel the magical energy surge from it and expel around him. A circle of light came to life on the ground with symbols Victor didn't recognize. But he felt the magic, and he didn't want this.

Mr. Fantastic tried to used the device, but it was expelled when it reached the invisible barrier the circle created.

"Victor, what is this?" The scientist cried out.

"A summoning circle!" Victor jerked up to Ben, glaring down at him, "It is because of your moronic attack upon me I cannot resist it now!"

The Four, realizing it wasn't Victor, exchanged glances. Sue stepped forward, "Who's summoning you?"

"I cannot read this magic, it's different from any form of magic I've seen!" The Latverian growled, slamming his fist against the stone floor, "Doctor Victor Von Doom refuses to be defeated a foreign magic so rudimentary!"

Reed returned the Negative Zone transporter to his belt before turning back to Victor. "How much time is left?"

"Nearly none!"

"We'll get Dr. Strange here and figure this out, Victor. You have my word."

"Did Doom ask for your help, Richards?" The ruler nearly spat as he spoke, "I don't recall doing so."

"You don't have to ask, Victor." Mr. Fantastic replied, nodding to him, "We'll finish this if you return."

"When Dr. Doom returns, you will all fall by my hand! Doom is a man of his word…"

As he finished, the light consumed Victor completely. The man began to stand, though difficult as it was, he would not be seen as weak towards this new enemy. He would force himself to use his strength regardless of if he had the energy to or not. He would face this enemy with certainty that he will best them!

As the light dispersed around him, he could feel a small extra weight on his right arm become applied to him. He looked down, the culprit of the weight being a very plain looking shield. Not of his taste.

He ignored this for the moment as around him, the scene was becoming clearer. It was a vast room which resembled the inside of a Victorian era tower lit with candles along every other pillar which were placed within equal, periodic spacing of each other a small distance away from the back wall. The room itself was circular rather than rectangular and rose higher than the ground was large. The flooring was a light grey smooth stone which was reflective enough to redirect some of the light of the candles upwards. Around him was a circle which mirrored the magical symbols of the summoning forced on him which differed only due to the circle being quite larger than the one that brought him to this place.

Within the circle was three others, all young men. One was a blonde with a light, red jacket over a white t-shirt and brown slacks which carried a lance in his right hand. Another was a boy with black hair, a blue jacket over a black turtleneck and black pants with a sword in his right hand. The last boy had sand-colored hair and a sage school uniform complete with a tie over his white dress shirt. He had a bow in his left hand, but no arrows from what Victor could see.

They were summoned like Victor was.

The Latverian turned back to outside the circle, where five men in black robes with golden accents stood in front of the four who were summoned. None of them looked discernable from each other due to their hoods being up, with the exception of one robed man who stood in front of them whose hood was down, exposing a head without hair and a face weathered by time with wrinkles.

"Ah, the Cardinal Heroes!" The robed man began, opening his arms in welcoming, "So glad you have arrived! Mostly unharmed, it seems." The man gestured towards Doom, getting the other summoned 'Cardinal Heroes' to look towards him.

The blonde whistled at the Latverian, placing the lance on his shoulder, "Man, you look badass as hell! Where'd you get that armor?"

The ruler ignored the boy, marching towards the man in the robes, "So, you were the ones that summoned Doom?"

The man in the robes raised an eyebrow, "I'm not sure what you-."

Victor lurched forward, grabbing the man by the neck and lifting him above his own head with a single hand. The bald man struggled, and the other four men in robes got into defensive stances. They began pulling energy from around them, culminating and transforming it into magical energy. Before they could conjure anything, however, the bald man raised his hands to them. They stopped creating their magical defenses, but still were obviously on edge.

Victor lowered his gaze on the bald man, "You dared to summon Doctor Victor Von Doom, so begin speaking on why you've done so or you will perish, peasant!"

The voice of one of the boys, the one with sand-colored hair, interjected the confrontation. "Hey, Dr. Doom, was it? You need to calm down. They don't mean any harm."

Victor turned to the boy, glaring at him with the same amount of spite as was pointed towards the bald man. "Calm? You command Doom to be calm, boy?"

The blonde stepped forward, fists clenched, "They're just asking for help, dammit! We're the Cardinal Heroes, summoned to help a world in crisis. Ringing any bells?"

"I refuse." Victor replied surely. He turned to the bald man. "Now return me to my world so I may face my rival and his allies with integrity!"

The old man coughed, trying to get a breath in, "P-please… Speak with the king first… He m… may have a p-prize which interests you."

"How would the king know which prize would interest me?"

"Y-you must speak- urk!" The man was at the brink now, "Speak with him."

Victor dropped the summoner on his knees so he could catch his breath. The old man coughed as he inhaled as much air as he could manage, as if he was making up for how much he had lost while he was being strangled. He looked up at Victor, who merely had his arms crossed as he glared down with his dark, brown eyes.

"Take Dr. Doom to the king, but no promises are to be made."

The old man bowed his head before he pushed himself to get on his feet, leading the way as he continued to rub his now sore neck. Victor followed promptly behind with the other three Cardinal Heroes behind him. They were led up a staircase, in which the boys seemed to fidget with nervousness. It was nothing that the Latverian was concerned with, he was simply glad they weren't annoying him with needless conversation. Along the way, however, he did take note of a window they passed by.

The castle they were in, as well as the city below, which would be easily described as something akin to medieval. The stone of the castle's outside walls were all flattened stone with no indents to speak of. The rooftops were mostly orange with curved roofing tiles which was consistent for the castle itself and the city rooftops. The cities beyond the castle walls were layered in such a way that a stone wall separated the city into different sections. Likely, by Doom's knowledge of history, to create physical barriers between the economic and social classes.

They made their way through expansive hallways not unlike Castle Doom, though the aesthetic was much lighter and more vibrant than his own. That, plus the carpet that was a constant throughout the flooring of this castle was a stark contrast to Doom's own stone floor which was lined with narrow carpet from the entrance to the castle to the throne. The doors to the throne was a pair of double doors which stood at double the height of Victor but were thin enough for the two guards at the door to open it with what seemed to be ease. In front of them now, past the beams of light which shone into the room beyond the doors, was a single man sitting on a throne.

He had a golden crown on his head with a large purple gem on the top. His hair was white and long with a beard which only formed along his chin and the bottom of his jaw. The king's robes were purple with white fur and golden accents with a neckpiece, which was the same shade of gold with red "x's" in golden boxes along the neckpiece. With rings on his fingers and a smile on his face, he raised his hands to welcome the group.

The four summoned heroes walked inside, eventually standing side by side in front of the king. With all four of them being illuminated by the sunlight coming from the windows the king sat down, from the right to the left until he stopped at Victor Von Doom who was a very stark contrast from the other three summoned heroes.

He shook his head, clearing his throat and beckoning to the four of them. "Welcome, Cardinal Heroes, to my grand kingdom of Melromarc! I hope your journeys here were kind ones as you traveled from your world to this one." The king smiled, brushing his beard as he spoke, "Now, to start I feel like introductions are in order. I am King Aultcray Melromarc XXXII, the ruler of this fine kingdom." He pointed to the hero closest to the windows, "Please, introduce yourself, Hero of the Bow."

"My name is Itsuki Kawasumi, I'm seventeen ye-."

The boy was interrupted by Victor, who marched up towards the throne. He slammed his foot against the stone steps which led up to the throne, which cracked underneath it. The armor-clad man pointed a finger at the king, narrowing his gaze.

"Victor Von Doom demands you explain the reason for the summoning at once! I will not tolerate such insignificant drivel." The Latverian announced as the king's face grew in anger. Doom noticed this, but could not find it within him to care for it.

"You command something of the king?!" Aultcray recoiled with poison spitting off his tongue. However, instead of lashing out, he took a deep breath before clearing his throat, "I understand the current predicament must be jarring for some of you, but we in Melromarc have a process to these things even still."

"Dr. Doom, was it?" A voice from behind the Latverian piped up. When he turned, he met the eyes of the boy with the sand-colored hair with the bow. "They brought us here for a reason, I'm sure he was about to explain everything after introductions."

Victor turned back to the king, now ignoring the boy, "I care not for your foreign traditions, nor do I like my time to be wasted. Explain yourself or send Doom back from this world to my own so I may go back to my world! Victor Von Doom has unfinished business with a rival I was in the midst of battle with."

The king clicked the roof of his mouth, keeping his eyes on the man in armor. "Our world calls it the Waves of Calamity; we are invaded by other worlds whose sole purpose is to destroy our own! So, as is customary of this world, as I myself was summoned long ago for this phenomena we of Melromarc have summoned the legendary heroes of this generation. Including you, Doom."

Victor and the king continued to have their glaredown while the blonde replied to the king, "See, Doom! It's a threat from another dimension." The boy with the spear stepped between the two, a nervous smile on his face, "How can we call ourselves good people if we turn our backs on them?"

"I care not for these struggles. Unless there is some incentive to stay, I demand you return me at once." Victor replied towards the king, looking past the blonde to the older man.

The king sighed, "As much as I would prefer to do as you want me to, Shield Hero, I do not have this power." He gestured towards the Latverian, "However, there is some incentive to help. You mentioned a battle with a rival and from what I see you were having something of a difficult time with them."

"A mere fluke, I assure you."

"Regardless," the King waved his hand to dismiss the comment. "If you manage to win this war for this world, what will result is either one of two options. You can stay and be granted fame and fortune for the rest of your life!" He directed towards the three boys before turning back to the armor-clad man, "Or you may return to your world with a more favorable position you left it in. Including something to help against a rival."

Victor never paused in his glare towards the king. "If I find when I get back to my world that you have lied to me, Aultcray, I can guarantee that I will come back to this world and show you just why it isn't wise to lie to Victor Von Doom, the king of Latveria and soon the ruler of my world!" The armored man turned his back to the king, marching beyond the two boys that were once behind him and towards the doors to the throne room.

The blonde yelled out to Victor, "Where are you going? Introductions aren't done yet!"

Dr. Doom slammed the doors open, "If I am to leave this world, no time must be wasted on the introductions of peasants and fools."

The king and the three other summoned heroes were left in the room behind the Latverian ruler. Though he had intentions of returning later he had to have some questions of his which plagued his mind while he was stuck in this world. Stuck, for the moment, only because his interdimensional transporter had burst when he was electrocuted in Castle Doom's library. He needed to get some of the fundamentals of this world figured out and the only way to do that was to explore.

One thing was certain to the Latverian, which he recanted to himself like a spell being cast on his fate. 'I shall not be trapped in this world against my own wishes, for it is not the will of Doom!'
