Hey! Livia here!
This was my first fanfic, and is still ongoing. There are two things happening here; I'm writing more chapters, and I'm editing the first chapters. If you see the layout and panic don't worry, it gets better I promise.
Love y'all, especially those of you who put up with me continuously xx
Harry was still reeling in shock from the events of the day. It had been the craziest, most ridiculous and implausible day of his life. All he could think about was the fact (and he was beginning to come to terms with the idea that it was indeed a fact) that he was a wizard. He couldn't quite believe it. All those years of being shut up in his cupboard and picked on by Dudley and all along he could have just turned him into a toad or something?
He was being shown around London by a… giant, but it was a place far from the London he was used to. They had entered a whole other world when they stepped through the mysterious brick wall and although it was huge and terrifying Harry couldn't help but feel ecstatic.
He had zoned out a bit while Hagrid was talking, but at the word 'goblins' he suddenly tuned back in, and jumped backwards in shock. They were in a huge, beautiful building, looking up into the face of a...a goblin, he supposed. He had a pointy beard, and incredibly long fingers. Harry watched in fascination as the goblin led them away.
One stomach churning ride later he was utterly dazed, wondering how he had gone from having nothing to being rich. He had a whole room filled with shiny gold and silver coins. With a heavy purse in his bag, he felt infinitely more confident.
As he tried on robes he wondered whether the day was going to get any more surreal. Who wore robes anyway? Harry smiled at the friendly woman who was chattering at him and looked over at the blonde boy standing next to him.
The other boy was also going to Hogwarts, but obviously he knew much more about wizards than Harry. Harry, already confused, didn't pay much attention to what he was saying, wondering what quidditch and Hufflepuff were.
Draco watched the dark haired boy carefully as they spoke. He seemed bewildered by everything, so clearly either a mudblood or a simpleton. Not that there was much difference there. He smirked to himself, making a mental note to tell that to Blaise.
While Harry went home to the Dursley's, who were in a foul mood and refused to give him dinner, Draco went back to the Manor. After dinner, he was summoned to his father's study. He knocked and came in and stood by the door while his father finished writing a letter. When Lucius Malfoy finally looked up at his son he spoke gravely.
"You are going to Hogwarts soon. You will encounter many...difficulties there. There will be many other witches and wizards, and most will not have your pure blood status. You will stay away from them."
Draco nodded his agreement but didn't interrupt as his father continued.
"Naturally you will be sorted into Slytherin and hopefully you will find suitable companions in your house. You know the Zabini boy, and the Parkinson's daughter is also beginning school this year."
"Yes father."
"Good."
As Lucius turned back to his paperwork, effectively dismissing Draco, the younger Malfoy left the study.
When Harry arrived at Kings Cross he realised he had no idea where he was going. Platform 9 3/4? There was nothing between platforms 9 and 10. Annoyed at Hagrid for not telling him what to do, he stood staring at the clock, hands moving towards 11 o'clock. Terrified that he would miss the train he scanned the platforms furiously, looking for anyone who might help him.
A large family, who all seemed to be redheads walked by and he heard the woman muttering loudly about muggles. He watched them shyly, and then, as he realised that he still had no idea what they were doing or where they were going, he gathered up the courage to ask for help.
A few minutes later he was safely seated in a carriage with the youngest boy. Harry realised the boy was staring at him, the same way his brothers had earlier. It was a bit awkward and Harry wished everyone would stop making such a fuss about him. The ginger boy introduced himself as Ron Weasley, and Harry was about to respond (not that introductions were necessary for him) when a bushy haired girl came in asking about a toad. The girl was overwhelming, but she also appeared to be from the muggle world and he grinned at finding someone like himself.
Hermione smiled at the boys. They didn't seem particularly interested in what she was saying but she was used to that. She decided that she liked Harry; all the books said he was practically famous but he didn't seem to care. She wasn't sure about the ginger boy though. Unfortunately, she could't stay and talk, she really had to help Neville before he did anything stupid.
Harry's compartment was once again visited, as the boy whom he had met in the robe shop came in with two slightly daunting friends.
Draco had heard that Harry Potter himself was on the train and had come to see for himself. He introduced himself as Draco Malfoy, at which Ron laughed.
When the two boys were done trading insults he turned to Harry and held out a hand to shake.
"You'll learn a lot about the wizarding world Potter, I can help you there."
Harry, glad that there was someone who wanted to help, him quickly shook his hand. Just then, the bushy haired girl came in again, and said it was time to put on their robes. Draco and his friends left in a hurry.
As soon as they were gone Ron started telling Harry how evil the Malfoys were, leaving Harry to wonder whether he had just made a huge mistake.
