Harry Potter and the SCP Foundation
Chapter 8 - Survival of the Strongest Part 1
Doctor Rallim was running as if his life depended on it. When the warning came he doubled all efforts to get to his destination.
It took a while but he managed to make his way to the command center for Site-81 and when he got there he half expected that this situation would have been resolved by now.
No such luck sadly.
Not too long before his arrival he had heard the same warnings as the whole facility did, the message that SCP-682 broke containment and that was not good at all. That monster was not to be trifled with; not to be underestimated one bit.
Like many other scientists he has had the pleasure of studying the 'Hard to Destroy Reptile' and what he had learned was that it was intelligent, very intelligent and possibly more so then humanity. It could speak communicably and had emotions which qualified this creature as sentient being; but one with a seriously bad case of misanthropy.
It hated humanity with a passion, so much that extreme but necessary measures were needed to contain it.
But this was not its most intriguing trait even though it was nothing more than a large reptile like creature. What made this one a interesting specimen was its ability to be immune to death, or at least all man made methods to inflict death upon someone.
An abundant number of tests were performed on it to see what would be most effective at neutralizing it should it break containment and the only thing learned was that nothing could kill it.
Guns... no.
Explosives... no.
Chemical weapons... no.
The list could go on forever but all they knew was that it was for all intents and purposes un-killable. All definitions that could kill most organic life went out the window in the face of this thing.
This was why immersion in acid was used as the primary method of containing it, for if it had no muscles or flesh then it would be hard for it to gather any strength to bust out of it holding cell.
Or so they thought.
Somehow it broke free and it is now on a rampage in the facility. Thing could not get any worse.
"Agent Ulgrin sir, we've found SCP-6934 and SCP-682."
The moment he heard those words, Rallim ran right towards his colleague who was monitoring the whole situation.
"What is the status of Samsara." Ulgrin spoke authoritatively.
Rallim skidded to a halt when he heard that. He had to be hearing things he almost voiced out loud.
"They're on route as we speak sir."
Ulgrin walked towards a computer monitor which was showing him real-time data on what was going on with this Samsara.
A map showing an area outside the facility and blip on the map, indicated by red arrow shape heading towards the facility at incredible speed. Whatever it was, it was in a rush to get here very soon.
"When they get here, their first priority must be SCP-682." Ulgrin ordered. "Then they are to proceed to SCP-6934."
The soldier on the monitor was just about to relay the message when he hesitated. "Sir, there may be a problem with that." The soldier gulped.
"Speak up soldier?" Ulgrin commanded, he did not like to be kept waiting.
"SCP-682 has broken through to F-Wing and is right next to SCP-6934's position."
With that information, Ulgrin and Rallim were now in anxious mode. The one thing they never want to happen has happened.
Two SCP's interacting... what were the odds. But what made this worse was an known SCP interacting with a new relatively unknown SCP.
Yes, thing could not possibly get any worse.
-[]-
When Harry heard it speak, SCP-682 that is, he was for the longest of moments in shock.
Surprisingly you would think that someone like Harry who comes from a world of magic where creatures both big and small existed; both strange and exotic lived that he would be used to such wonders. Back when he was first introduced to the wonder that was the wizarding world, this was what he loved about it, but at the same time it was also a reason to be afraid, which he eventually came to believe.
Life after his fight with the man who murdered his parents showed Harry that there was a time to enjoy and a time to be weary. Learning from this, he began a new life where the famous word vigilance was an all-time important quality to live by, even in peace times.
And this was one of those moments Harry came to conclude where he needed to be extra vigilant, for when SCP-682 spoke his name in familiarity he knew that there was something really fucking bizarre happening that he was not in the know about.
It was not the fact that it talked that got Harry, not even its bizarre size or appearance, no what got him was that it knew his name as if it knew him personally.
So Harry stared down at it, figuratively speaking, and it back at him with its reptilian slit eyes and he swore that it was happy to see him, almost gleefully so like it was seeing a friend for the first time in ages.
The amount of razor-sharp alligator like teeth it was revealing made it look like a hungry hippo ready to snap but Harry knew it was smiling, in its own terrifying way.
Whatever it was thinking about Harry could not really gauge from outward appearances but if the amount damage was any indication of its intentions, he would hazard a guess that it was eager to fight.
Harry Potter has no good luck whatsoever... life really sucks he thought.
"ARE YOU NOT GOING TO SAY ANYTHINGrrrrrrr." The monster growled.
Oh there was much Harry could say right now, a whole repertoire of colorful words but for time constrained reasons, he decided to keep things simple.
"How do you know me?" He asked, and as Harry spoke he made sure to keep himself at the ready, to move at any given tell that he was in danger of being chomped. "I don't think we've ever met."
His words did not rouse any kind of response. Whether this was because it did not understand the question or was confused by Harry's statement, he could not tell. But it did lose the smile it was sporting, and instead it was replaced by what Harry could only guess to be confusion with a hint of anger if his senses were not deceiving him.
It took a step forward with its huge arms and claws, shaking the hallway and then repeated this as it made its way towards Harry.
Harry took a step back and raised his hands up, his palms ready to release a spell at a moment's notice. This action stopped SCP-682 where its eyes were now on his hands... with an expectant stare.
It recognized what Harry was doing it appeared but showed no sign of being afraid of what he could potentially do with a simple gesture and word. Suddenly the room vibrated, but this time due to the noise coming from the throat of SCP-682... it sounded like it was laughing; mockingly.
As confused at this as Harry was, at this whole affair, he to needed answers and the laughing was not something he appreciated. "Is something funny SCP-682?" He asked irritably.
The lizard stopped laughing and its eyes were on Harry again. It looked not so amused now. "I SEE THAT THEY HAVE YOU SPEAKING AS THEY DOgrrrrrrr." It rumbled out.
Harry was still looking irritable. "What do you mean?"
"SCP-682." It replied. "I HAVE A NAMEgrrrrrr... JUST LIKE YOU DO REMEMBERgrrrrr... YOU SCREAMED IT ENOUGH TIMES... OH THE SCREAMS?"
There it was again, the happiness it was showing. Not only did this giant lizard show that it knew Harry but now it was claiming that Harry knew it, or at least knew enough that he should be able to recite its name.
All Harry could say for sure was that based on his current interactions with this creature, he has no idea who or what it is and to confirm this may have dire consequences.
But then he remembered the guards behind him, and knew that he has to do something, anything to protect them from certain death.
"I'm sorry to say this," Harry took a deep breath. "I don't know who you are. "The monsters demeanor changed to anger once again. "But what I do know is this," He clapped his hands and his eyes began glowing green once more. "You shall not pass." Harry almost deadpanned at saying that, thinking how stupid a thing to say at a time like this. "I can't believe I just said that."
The creature was now breathing deeply, in and out very quickly and readying itself for an attack by the looks of it. Time was of the essence so Harry did the only thing he could think of.
The action he took was dangerous but it was enough to surprise the monster as its eyes opened wide when it took in Harry's form which was running towards it.
SCP-682 smiled that toothy grin as it raised its large claw high over its head, almost hitting the ceiling. "YES! THAT IS IT, THAT IS WHAT I WAS WAITING FOR." Harry was nearly within its zone of attack. "THE WIZARD." It brought its arm down with its claw extended. "THE MONSTER WHO BUTCHERED MILLIONS."
Harry became distracted at those words and almost screwed up, his footing almost losing its rhythm. But it was too late now to back out now. The claw was right over him, its shadow completely encompassing Harry's entire body. Harry raised his hands, his glowing eyes clenched narrowly and just as the giant palm was within contact he shouted.
"OPPUGNO"
A light flashed for a nanosecond and the claw that would have crushed the tiny wizard was now changing its trajectory and impacting on SCP-682 maw in the form of a hit, and did not stop there. What should have been Harry demise turned into a event called 'stop hitting yourself'.
First the monsters own claw started hitting its face, when that failed to do any real damage it started clawing at its nostrils by tearing into its flesh and pulling at its skin removing chunks with no sign of stopping. The creatures roars were so loud, so ear piercing that one would need to cover their ears just so that they would not be disoriented by the force it was unleashing.
Now that it was distracted, Harry used this time to run back towards the guards to check on them. All of them were in one piece and all were still unconscious and safe for the moment Harry quickly diagnosed.
But now to get them out of here.
Thinking fast, Harry knew that he had no practical means to get them out of harm's way. Side-Along Apparition was out of the question because it would take too long and was dangerous in the long run. Even if he put all his effort into it, the side effects may be disastrous for not just the user but also the thing or person being taken along.
'Think Harry, think.'
Before he could think on, Harry jumped suddenly as something heavy landed right next to him. Looking behind himself he noticed that the lizard was now not roaring and was now sporting only one arm and a stump where the other should have been. The thing that made Harry jump was what was left of its arm which he jinxed to attack its owner.
"HAHAHAHAHAgrrrrrr... IN ALL MY FIGHTS WITH YOUgrrrrrr... THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE FIRST TIMEgrrrrrr." It remarked estatically.
As SCP-682 spoke, from its torn arm stump something began to emerge. It was enough to make Harry almost puke at what he was witnessing due to the graphic nature. Blood oozing, tendrils and bone emerging. It was growing a new arm but the speed in which it was doing so was like something out of a comic book but more gory and bizarre.
"BUTgrrrrrr... IT WILL TAKE MORE THEN THAT TO KILL ME... HAHAHAHAHAgrrrrrr."
Once its new arm was complete it tested out on a wall which from its attack crumbled to almost nothing. Satisfied, it started moving towards Harry once again, first it was slow strides but then it went full on running. It was almost impossible to imagine something this big moving like it did but here it was, defying the law of physics and Harry knew that he had to do something, fast.
Again, time was running out and SCP-682 was closing in toward him and the guards. So with simple flick of his wrist which he aimed at the severed arm, it levitated in the air. Harry then thrust his hand forward, and the arm went rocketing towards the rampaging beast.
He thought it would be enough to slow SCP-682 down but was sorely surprised when the creature caught the severed appendage in its giant jaws like dog catching a stick. It stood there, looking at Harry with its piercing eyes and to Harry further shock and mortification, it began consuming the piece of meat slowly as it walked at a pace towards him.
'God damn it a Harry think.' He looked around quickly and could not find anything of note to aid him. Not even the guns that the guards brought was enough to... it was then he remembered.
Going through his pockets Harry found what he was looking for. Smooth, spherical and dangerous. Used properly and with the right plan in mind, he may have a chance to not only safeguard the men by his feet but also take this creature far away and hurt it.
'Blind jump it is then.' The creature was almost on Harry now, too close for comfort but not enough that he could not do this one thing.
Harry started running once more towards SCP-682 who this time was not showing any signs of performing an attack to stop him. Its meal finished it looked to be unconcerned with the wizards performance as it continued towards him with no concern.
It did not take Harry long to reach the point of no return, it was now or never.
Harry jumped at it and as he and the monster closed in on each other the its mouth opened wide, ready to gulp Harry down. It's teeth were really sharp, like the inside of a sharks jaw and stained red with the remains of its recent meal. It would have had Harry had he not vanished with a pop and reappeared above its head. Harry found himself falling onto its muzzle where he got an eye to eye with it.
It was not fast enough to close its eyes.
"LEGILIMENS"
It was not enough to enter the things mind but it was enough to throw it off its balance which is what Harry was aiming for.
SCP-682 stopped and raised its body up which had the bad consequence of impacting its head into the ceiling. This forced it to lose its balance and fall sideways into the hallway walls. This act ended with a lot of damage to the infrastructure and a highly agitated monster whose eyes were now posed with absolute hatred as they stared at the item of its anger, who at this moment was standing in front of the still downed guards.
"I WILL RIP AND TEAR YOU APART HARRY POTTERgrrrrrr... YOU WILL NOT WIN THIS TIME."
Harry just looked at SCP-682 and produced in front of it one of the grenades he commandeered earlier. The smile he was now showing was enough to make the creature growl in further frustration. Harry was about to pull the pin, but before he could end this fight, SCP-682 smiled once more.
"SHE SCREAMED YOU KNOWgrrrrrr SCREAMED FOR HELP BUT YOU NEVER CAME."
Harry's actions froze and he was about to inquire about what it meant but before he knew what was happening, he found himself flying into a wall due to SCP-682's large scaly tail hitting him unexpectedly fast and him flying off his feet.
As Harry's journey ended, with him laid out next to a wall on his ass, his noggin confounded due to the impact, he tried getting up quickly but was not fast enough.
He found himself being ensnared in the grip of SCP-682. "I'M NOT DONE WITH YOUgrrrrrr" Who proceeded to throw him down the hallway, a fair distance.
As he hit the ground Harry tried to position himself to absorb the impact. He hit another wall before skidding to a halt, the breath taken completely out of him. He tried to lessen the pain through slight movements as he rose to one knee. His eyes were firmly on the monster, glowing green with purpose and anger.
"PATHETICgrrrrrr." SCP-682 sounded disappointed. "WHERE IS ITgrrrrrr. WHERE IS THE HARRY POTTER, THE BOY WHO LIVED, THE WAND OF GOD, THE LEGION... WHERE IS HE!" It screamed furiously as if expecting an answer, but it got none but silence. "WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOUgrrrrrr?"
When it was finished, SCP-682 head turned from Harry to looking at the sleeping guards.
"THEY DID SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU NOT REMEMBERgrrrrrr." It began moving towards the unprotected guards, and Harry's eyes widened in fear at what it was planning to do. "THEN I WILL MAKE THEM DEAD."
Harry was scared now, he struggled to his feat, each movement a constant reminder of the possible broken bones he was containing and no awful tasting Skele-Gro to help him out. He raised his hand and fired the first spell that he could think of, hoping to gain back its attention.
"CONFRINGO"
The orange light flew from Harry's hand like a bullet from a gun, with the hope of blasting its target apart. When it hit, all it did was dissipate and leave little to no mark on its hard scales.
Harry did not stop.
He did this again, and again, and more times then he cared to count but it did nothing to sway the beast from its next meal.
'FUCK. I need a wand. Without my wand my spells are nothing more than overpowered firecrackers.'
This was one of the times when Harry wished he could manifest a wand. As he learned from research, a wand was a wizards or witches best friend when casting magic. A focus to control their already awesome power. Without one, there would be no finesse, no balance, only chaos. Simple spells would be so easy that a child could perform them with no issue, harder spells would be done without problems but without a wand, those harder spells would be dangerous and in most cases out of control.
How he had managed so far was any ones guess but against this monster, none of his spells are going to cut it. Even using some of the more dangerous spells would have uncontrollable and disastrous effects... disastrous effects.
It was in that moment, Harry Potter knew what spell was suited against this monstrosity. There was a chance it would backfire but he has no choice but to try at this point. He just hoped it was enough and that without his wand that it would be more devastating.
"HEY, SCP-682." Harry shouted.
The monster was just meters away from its target when it stopped. It head turned slightly towards Harry, its numerous eyes taking in the wizards disheveled and bruised form. And before it could say a word, all it felt was anguish at the word spoken next.
"CRUCIO."
