Alright you soggy bastards here we go. This is my first attempt at actual writing so expect some (read: many) mistakes. This is of course yet ANOTHER gamer fic. Why? Because I feel like it. Inspired by the likes of The Dark Wolf Shiro, Mirlnir, A-shifty-sword and many, MANY others, feel free to point out any errors you find, whether they be grammatical, spelling, formatting, lore, or any other kind you spot. This will be as much of a learning experience for me as it is a new hobby. I also want to mention that this won't stick to any genre. One world can be all action and the next can be fucking Yu-Gi-Oh! or a mostly slice of life world. Or maybe I'll make a side-fic for the shit that doesn't fit I dunno I'm just making all of this up as I go along. With all that being said, let's get this show on the road, shall we?
What the fuck just happened? I was... actually I'm not sure what I was doing. I was going somewhere I think? Crossing one of those confusing ass 6-way intersections, and then...?
...
You Died
WHAT?
You Died
Yeah I heard you the first time, you dick! How did I die?!
You were crossing "one of those confusing ass 6-way intersections" during rush hour in one of the biggest cities in the world. Figure it out.
First off: rude. Second: It seems I got truck-kun'd, rad. I'm talking to a disembodied voice in what appears to be a plane of white nothingness as far as the eye can see, double rad. I guess this is the part where I get told that the disembodied voice is a gamer system and I've been chosen right?
Half-right
Really?! Wait, the hell'd you mean by "Half-right"?
You have been chosen to be a gamer, that is correct. However, I am not a gamer system. I suppose you can consider me a symbiote, my goal is to attain enough power to ensure my continued existence and to do that I latched onto your soul as you died. The stronger you become, the stronger I become, which facilitates even further growth.
You pulled my soul from death and are probably going to send me into some previously fictional world, and your existence is still at risk? How?!
My meager feats in no way ensure my continued existence. The multiverse is filled with beings that will tear me apart simply because they can. Although they will likely never do so, the fact that they can is unacceptable. My goal is to survive, and to do that we must grow above any and all threats conceivable.
Right, so how do I know you won't just get rid of me the moment you grow above being threatened by anything else in the multiverse?
Impossible. I grow off of your power, which I then use to empower the both of us. By the time I have enough power to exist on my own you will be impossible for me to kill.
Isn't your goal to grow above all other beings though? Wouldn't me being stronger than you fuck that up?
My goal is to ensure my survival as I have stated before. The beings that already exist and can aid me in my goals either have no reason to do so, or will annihilate me for fun. My only choice then, is to create such a being myself.
Alright, that makes sense I suppose... Why me though?
Simple. There was no reason, I chose at random.
Cool I guess I'm luckier than I thought. Come to think of it I'm taking all of this a lot better than I thought I would. Why is that? Is there some kind of Gamers mind fuckery going on or what?
No. For the time being I am Dulling your emotions so that we may properly communicate with one another without the trauma of your death and current circumstances impeding us. Now you will begin character creation for the world we will start in.
Awesome, and where will we be starting?
In an effort to make the process as easy as possible for you we will be starting in a world most suited to your interests, so that you will feel motivated, with a low power ceiling, So that you will be able to survive, with no high level beings that can or are willing to impede us. While I find a starting point, you may edit your appearance. The Character editor responds to thought, merely think about what you wish to change, and said changes will be reflected onto you. I will return shortly. Until then I will restore your emotions to their proper state.
Okay, cool. Taking a gander at myself in the neat reflective surface that just appeared out of nowhere I see a strange face staring back at me, which is... not good? I know this is my face, but it seems so unfamiliar somehow. Looking at the slightly curly brown locks atop my head I try to remember which one of my parents I inherited them from.
I can't remember what my fucking parents look like. I know they existed. I know I was walking from their home where I lived, to- where the fuck was I going? When I died I was going somewhere, right? Where tho? Where was I going? Was I going to meet someone? To work? Did I even HAVE a job? What school did I go to? Did I graduate, drop out, or am I still attending? How old am I?
I had to stop there for a second. I don't even know my age? This is nuts, I know what getting Truck-Kun'd is, I know about the whole gamer reincarnation trope, I have a personality, so what gives? Why can't I remember anything about myself? Did it all go away when I died, or did the thing that brought me here do this?
Fuck it, I'll ask it when I get back, besides I would still be dead if not for the totally-not-a-gamer-system that brought me here. It seems like the logical sort anyway, so if it did do this it should have a good reason, right?
Moving on to character creation, I should be good for the most part, I'll just make myself a bit taller so that I'll be able to fight better. The whole point of all of this is power, so there's no way I won't be fighting. 6'3 should be good, right? Next is my face. Yeah it's all good there, maybe, I'll change the color of my eyes? Dark brown is good enough, but this might be the only chance I get to do this, so I might as well ball out.
With that thought I change my eyes from brown to gray and while I'm at it I might as well make myself a bit more handsome since everyone is predisposed to liking attractive people. I feel my face change ever so slightly. Becoming more refined for lack of a better term. My jawline becomes a bit more prominent, the small scar on my nose vanishes completely and my eyes look more expressive too. Other than that I decided to stay the same for the most part.
Alright that'll do. Now I just sit and wait for the not-game to come back and we'll be off I guess.
I've been back since you said you'll ask me when I get back actually. To answer your question, I locked away the memories of your personal life so that you will not fall into a depression over the loss of your former life. When we have attained ample strength you should be able to return to your home world, at the exact time you died and prevent your death, continuing where you left off in your life. Although I doubt you'll leave it at that.
Okay, that's a good enough reason I suppose. So, where we headed to first Cap'n?
I was able to work out a deal with the deities of the world we're going to. Nothing you wouldn't agree to of course. An unwilling host would be sub-optimal after all. Just a few tasks that need to be done, there will even be rewards involved from each pantheon upon completion. On top of which you will not lay claim to godhood of any kind while in their world.
Enough with the suspense already! Where are we going and what do I have to do?
Our destination will be A Game of Thrones, however it will resemble the books much more than the show did.
Crossover, got it. What should I expect?
Characters that were cut out of the show, dropped plotlines and more magic than what was shown in the show. Part of the deal was that you wouldn't just be dropped into their world but would instead be taking the place of a child that would be dead otherwise.
Wow that isn't morbid at all. So who will I be? Robert And Cersei's firstborn child? Rhaegar's dead son? One of Stannis's stillborn children?
No, There are far too many risks involved with those options. You will start as the son of a minor house in Westeros around the start of the series as most of the quests given to you will require you to be there at that time. You will be given a list of heir's to replace and afterwards you may edit your appearance to fit that house.
At that a list appears before me with a frankly depressing amount of names and after about an hour of searching through the comprehensive list of houses and the information associated with them I settle on House Corbray. It's in the Vale which remains relatively safe for the entire series thanks to their neutrality during the war of the five kings.
All I have to do is expose Littlefinger, which should be hella easy once he pulls up to the vale with Sansa Stark. I just need a reason to recognize her, which is why I chose house Corbray, since they not only have a Valyrian steel sword in Lady Forlorn, but also have distant blood ties to the Stark family through one of Jocelyn Stark's daughters which means I can use that as an excuse to visit the north at some point.
Could I have made a better decision? Probably, but that Valyrian steel is clouding my vision something fierce. Besides I have a game system, so I'll be untouchable after like two weeks of power-leveling.
Not likely. You will only have access to the magics of the world we are going to and until you max all of your stats not a single one of them will go above 50 which will be considered peak human for that stat. Your level will be capped at 25 as well.
What? Is that part of your deal with their gods?
No, I simply refuse to play host to a fool who doesn't understand the value of hard work. Giving too much power too soon to anyone never works out well. You will gain stats from training and leveling your class. Of which you will have only one until you complete one of the main quests you are given by the gods. At which point you may either raise the level cap of that class past 100, or choose a new one for each quest you complete. In addition to that you will have skills that can be leveled to 100 and upon doing so you will receive a perk related in some way to said skill. All experience and stats gained after you hit the cap will be held over for after you break through.
You will be powerful, but never untouchable in this world, not until the end anyway. This will ensure that you never grow complacent. Complacency will inevitably get you killed, if not in this world, then one of the worlds after it.
Alright I guess I can see where you're coming from. It'll be more fun this way anyhow, more satisfying when I finally get strong enough to buttfuck everything in existence too. Will I at least have dungeons I can go into to level up?
If I were powerful enough to create an entire subspace with beings that you can kill for EXP we wouldn't be having this conversation. You'd still be dead and I'd draw strength from those beings instead. Trust me, you'll have plenty of bodies to run through in this world.
That's a good point, also before we jump into things do you have a name I can call you by? Calling you "The Thing" is kind of a mouthful and annoying to boot.
I have no name, nor a gender nor a body, I simply exist.
I'll call you Marcy then. Sounds good?
That is a feminine name. Very well, I see what you are doing. From now on I shall assume the identity of a female. When you grow strong enough and I have a body I will be yours... Master.
Hearing it's near robotic voice become distinctly feminine just in time to call me her master.. does things to me. Shit if that was on the table from the beginning I wouldn't need to go to a world I'm interested in for motivation. Let's Fucking GO! Wait before that can I-
Change your hair color to black to match your new house? Certainly. Before we go though there are a few more things to go over. First you must choose your main faith while in that world.
I can choose? Don't the Corbray's follow the Faith of The Seven? I don't think worshiping the Old Gods of The Forest or the God of Flame and Shadow will go over well.
There will be no need to worship openly, or at all in fact. This is mostly ceremonial in nature. You will be doing the bidding of all of the gods available to choose from as a part of the deal. In truth all you'll be doing is choosing a starting boon from one of the faith's which you can gain from the others after meeting certain prerequisites. You will also receive more side quests from your chosen faith than any other along with an extra boon at the end of their questline.
Ah, okay that's cool. So lay it on me then.
Very well
Boon of The Old Gods Of The Forest: +10 to all skills. Those with First Men Ancestry will receive immediate access to the Greensight and Warging skills. Non-First Men will gain these skills after praying to a Weirwood Heart tree. +1 to all skills for every Heart Tree prayed to.
Other than the skill boosts it's about what you'd expect from The Old Gods. Thanks to House Corbray's ties to the Starks I'll get the skills immediately. The +1 is good, but it'll require a lot of traveling in the North, which is what I was already planning to do so no worries there.
Boon of The Seven Who Are One: +20% additional increase to all forms of EXP. Choose 7 major Skills to gain an additional 7% EXP increase. Every level gained in a major skill grants an additional 7 EXP. Major skills will start with +7 levels.
Okay, so instead of granting new skills, The Seven boost EXP gain. Neat. The major skill thing is ripped straight from Oblivion, except with a Faith of the Seven touch, but you won't hear me complaining. The additional EXP per level part implies I'm mostly going to be leveling up through skills like Skyrim. The boons of The Seven will help me get to the point I need to be to complete all of the main quests as quickly as I can, and I'll have the other boons anyway.
Boon of R'hollor, The Lord Of Light: Allows access to the Flame vision Minor flame manipulation Lie detection and Poison reflection skills.
Instead of the more balanced perks of the Old Gods, or the purely EXP based perks of the Seven, The red god seems to be going all in on skills. And damn if they aren't good skills.
Flame vision is exactly what you'd expect; I can see visions in fire, whoopee, the last three though are incredible. Minor Flame Manipulation caps out at inhaling a bit of fire and breathing it out, but with a little bit creativity I'll be able to do some crazy shit. Lie detection can - you'll never guess – let me know when someone is bullshitting me. Poison reflection will be the most useful by far, if anyone tries to Joffrey me then not only will they get fucked by their own juice, but I'll know what families and factions have it out for me, especially if I question them afterward thanks to Lie detection.
Boon of The Great Stallion: All combat skills start at level 20 and gain 50% more experience. +150 health and stamina. +50% hp regen during combat. Take 50% less damage while on a horse.
Okay the Great Stallion rules. I honestly forgot about the Dothraki, they just ran into the darkness and fucking died in Season 8 and that's all she wrote. Kind of sad honestly. This will help with the whole staying alive bit and the combat skill boost beats the Sevens by far, but the Sevens are more generalized than the Great Stallions which will help me reach 50 in all stats sooner.
Boon of The Drowned God: Return from death once, with full health, + 10 levels to all skills and +5 to all stats. +15 to all skills when near a body of water or during rain and storms Allows access to the Water breathing and Sea healing skills.
Holy shit, what is dead may never die indeed. So on top of the fucking zenkai boost, I become Percy Jackson. I thought for sure that there'd be at least one set of perks that wouldn't be that great, but so far they all look great. I may come to regret this later, but I already know what Boon I'll take.
Hey,Marcy?
Yes, My lord?
Give me the boon of the Seven.
Very Good, Sir.
Yeah, after thinking it over I found the seven to be the best boon for me. Increased skills and EXP will help me get to the point where I'll be able to take on the other main quests without too much difficulty and I'll be able to complete the side quests without looking like a heathen. So what's next.
I have just enough in me to give you a few stat point to assign. So have at it. Your Stats will reflect themselves in your characters life prior to your transmigration.

You know what these are
Damn right I do. At this point I don't even care to ask why I can't choose my class or why my HP SP and MP already have modifiers, the whole 7 theme going on makes it obvious. Speaking of my class I should see what that's all about before I go screwing with my stats.
[Lord}: +1 to all stats per level. Stat gain per level Increases by 1 every 25 levels. Gains access to the Lordly skill tree.
It's simple, but solid. And once I break that level cap I'll be getting 2 per level, and the 3 at 50, and 4 after that at 75. which is just busted. Although with what Marcy has said so far about not growing complacent I doubt I'll have an easy go of it. Well, since I'm getting even stats across the board every level I guess I don't need to be careful about where I put my points then.
Alright so in my experience with any game that has a charisma/speech function, you want to level that up the most when you're starting out. So I'll dump 7 points into CHA, next up is 8 in CON, 4 in STR, 3 in DEX and 2 in WIS.

There we go. So, Marcy is there anything else before we get going?
No, that should be everything. If we missed anything, I'll patch it in later. I'm very tired now. Goodnight, master.
Goodnight Marcy. And now, it begins.
Okay, so that was the first chapter of A restrictive game. I banged that one out in like half a day and I'm worried it might be obvious, but fuck it, I won't improve unless I put myself out there. I thought about making it possible for The MC to start in a Dothraki Khalasar, but after giving it some thought I realized that Marcy wouldn't let the MC go anywhere near a warring tribe, that considers a wedding without at least three murders boring. I might include a what if segment every few chapters though. Maybe one or two for every boon? I was going to make it so that where he'll end up will be based on what boon he chooses, but decided against it. MC will choose Major skills next chapter once he successfully transmigrates since he'll be starting off with Lyon's skills.
If you liked what you read then let me know. If you didn't then let me know. Want to know when I'll update? Then that's tough, I'll do it whenever I feel like it.
