Alright guys so here we go again. I've decided that he'll be going to Touou Gakuen as opposed to Shutoku. No other Naruto characters will be appearing in this story unlike the last one. Someone asked what the pairing will be and I'm not sure if there will be one. To be honest there isn't much to choose from in the Kuroko world besides Riko, Momoi, Alex, or the coach from Yosen. Anyways I hope you guys enjoy the story hopefully it'll turn out a little better than the previous versions.
Touou Academy. A once relatively low level competitor in the basketball world had come up in power in the past year after going out of their way to recruit national level players. They'd even managed to get their hands on the former ace of the Generation of Miracles, Aomine Daiki. With this newly assembled team they managed to make it to the final of the Inter High only to come up short against Kyoto's Rakuzan.
The Touou team knew they'd need to get stronger in order to win the Winter Cup coming up. unbeknownst to them their team was about to get a major boost in power. Standing outside the gate of the school was a young man seventeen years old. He wore the standard dark blue blazer and matching pants along with a white button up dress shirt underneath. Fortunately for him the dress code didn't say anything about shoes to which he wore black and blue Jordan 1s. The young man is Uzumaki Naruto.
Despite his Japanese appearance he hasn't been in Japan since he was born as his family moved to America shortly after. His dad had gotten a job offer in the states and it was too good to pass up at the time. His mom who happened to be half american herself on her dads side made sure Naruto knew how to read, write, and speak Japanese as she didn't want him to grow up without knowing that part of his ancestry.
Naruto looked at the golden plate next to the gate and looked at the characters quickly going through them in his head. "Touou Gakuen" He said to himself. He looked around once and headed in. There weren't too many people around as classes wouldn't be starting for another half hour. He'd been instructed by the principal to show up thirty minutes before classes started.
Walking into the building he found the administration office where he was greeted by both the principal and the vice principal along with the receptionist. They wanted to assess his Japanese ability as well as giving him his school schedule. They seemed relieved that he knew the language well considering he'd never been to Japan apart from his birth. He received his homeroom number as well as a small detailed map of the school. To his surprise they also told him that he'd need to join a club. In America that was optional but he'd have to comply. Finally they told him he'd be pardoned for any tardiness for the first week as he adapted but no more than that.
When he finally left the office the school was a lot more crowded. He wanted to take a look at the list of available clubs they'd also provided but noticed he didn't have much time before classes started. Oh well, he had a week to do it. He was sure he'd find something good.
By the time he reached his homeroom up in the third floor he was only ten minutes late. He took a deep breath. "Here we go" He muttered to himself in English before opening the sliding door and heading inside.
For the next few hours of the day he managed to stay awake throughout the classes. The curriculum in America had covered most of what was being taught already with the only exception being history and literature as they focused on different things. Finally the day was over and he could head home. The damn uniform he had to wear was ridiculous. He went from being able to wear whatever he wanted to basically a stuffy suit. That would take some getting used to.
Along the way he mentally groaned when he realized that he still had to unpack a lot of his belongings. When he finally made it home he threw his book bag on the floor of his room and let himself fall onto the bed. A few hours of resting his eyes later he sat up pulled the club pamphlet out of his pocket.
"Let's see what we got." He opened it and began going through it.
Caligraphy club. Pass.
Kendo club. Pass.
Ikebana club? Hell no.
Baseball club? No.
Finally after ignoring all the rest of the clubs he found what he was hoping for. The basketball club. Quickly circling it he put it down and went to unpack. At least thats what he should have done. Next to the boxes was his ball. He remembered on the way home he did pass by a park with some nice looking courts.
"I'll unpack tomorrow for sure" he promised himself as he put on his other jordans and headed out. It only took a few minutes to get there. One court was already being used by three people who were shooting around. Turning his attention to his basket he began dribbling which unknown to him got the attention of the others.
He dribbled with his right hand through his legs to his left before doing a fake to the left, crossover to the right quickly. He dashed forward before abruptly stopping and hitting a fade away shot from near the free point line. The ball swished through the net with ease.
Getting it again he ran through the same movements though this time he went in the opposite directions. Swish.
"Getting smoother" He thought to himself happily as he did it once more but from the mid range. His fade away was one his favorite moves he'd been perfecting, among other things, in America.
"Yo" Naruto stopped his movements to see who'd called out to him. The three guys on the court parallel to his were making their way towards him. He couldn't help but think they looked a bit familiar. Suddenly it clicked. The guy who called out to him with the glasses was in his homeroom.
"You're Uzumaki-san yes?" He asked. He didn't let him respond as he continued. "Imayoshi Shoichi. Nice to meet you." He introduced and bowed slightly. "These guys behind me are Wakamatsu Kosuke and Susa Yoshinori." The two also bowed.
"Uzumaki Naruto but you can just call me Naruto. Would I be right to assume you guys are on the basketball team?" Naruto introduced then asked. He'd noticed they shot with good form and Wakamatsu jumped pretty high for the rebounds.
"That's right. Seeing as Touou makes us join a club have you decided on anything yet?" Imayoshi asked.
The blond nodded. "I'm actually looking at the basketball club." This seemed to be a good answer as the smile on the bespectacled boys face widened.
"Well it just so happens that Touou is always looking for talent. Why not stop by the gym tomorrow after school. We'd love to see what you can really do." He proposed.
That was easier than he thought. He'd only just decided a couple minutes ago and here was someone on the team telling him to try out. "Sure. Who should I talk to when I get there?"
"I'll be there and let the coach know ahead of time that you'll be coming to try out." He answered before checking his phone. "We'll I'd love to stay and get to know you better but I have some homework to do. We'll see you tomorrow Naruto-san." He said before passing by with the other two guys nodding at him as they followed.
Once they were far enough away Wakamatsu turned to the team captain. "You think he'll make the team?"
Imayoshi's ever present smile only widened again. "Absolutely. You didn't notice it?" The two in question looked at each other and back to him wondering what they had missed. "His acceleration and deceleration into a fadeaway was just as fast as Aomine. His release was faster and his handles on the ball were fast and fluid. Finally I didn't realize he was going for a shot until he was already up in the air. He completely hid his preparatory movements which is a frightening ability.
The reason I told him to show up tomorrow is because Aomine is being forced by the coach to come. If I'm right we're in for a treat tomorrow."
Back with Naruto he continued with his drills for the next two hours before calling it a day.
The next day after classes had concluded Naruto found himself outside the school gym, his duffel bag slung over his shoulder. By the sounds of squeaking shoes and the rim being hit they'd apparently wasted no time at all to get to work.
Walking inside he stopped and looked around. Where was Imayoshi?
"Ah Naruto-san glad you could make it. Come on." Imayoshi told him as he walked passed him heading towards a set of double doors. He led him to the locker room and told him to pick a locker and meet with them when he was done. It didn't take long before he changed into a simple black t shirt with red and black shorts.
Upon seeing him Imayoshi looked down and raised an eyebrow. "You play Jordan 1s? I don't know if I should be impressed or call you crazy." He commented.
Naruto shrugged. "I got that a lot back in America. They're comfy and they work well for me."
The captain shrugged and let it go. If it worked leave it be.
"So where's the coach?"
"He'll be here in a few minutes." Just as Imayoshi finished his sentence a well dressed man in a white button up and black pants came up next to them. He had dark blue hair that was slightly curly. "Or now…" he trailed off.
"You must be Uzumaki Naruto. Imayoshi told me you were interested in trying out for the team? I'm the coach as well as a chemistry teacher here at Touou. Harasawa Katsunori." He introduced himself.
"If you'll give me the chance I'm sure I won't disappoint." The blond replied easily.
"Of course." Harasawa replied. Imayoshi had told him about the blond and he was curious as to how well the young man could play. He looked around and asked "Is Aomine here yet?"
"Surprisingly he is. On time even. He's over on the bleachers." The captain pointed out. Naruto followed their line of sight and saw a tall, tan, dark blue haired guy. The main thing that stood out about him though was that he looked bored out of his mind and wasn't practicing his shots like everyone else.
The blond could tell he was strong though. He had the the expression on his face that said he had no competition. He himself had worn that same look for a while.
"Everyone bring it in. I want you guys to split into two teams. That includes you Aomine." Harasawa ordered. Aomine looked like he'd rather not but complied and joined one side with the others. "Uzumaki, you're on the other side." He ordered.
The blond nodded and saw that he was teamed up with Wakamatsu and some others he'd yet to be introduced to. As the coach blew the whistle and had them start Wakamatsu won the tip against one of the second years. Immediately the ball came into his possession and all eyes were on him.
They were more appraising looks rather than trying to keep an eye on where the ball was. It was to be expected though. A new kid suddenly trying out, and right after they lost to Rakuzan at that. From the looks on everyones faces, bar Wakamatsu, Imayoshi, and Susa, they weren't expecting much from him.
"Let's change that" He said to himself as he prepared to attack. He ran down the court and Susa was on him. He faked going left and did a spin move to the right. Another person went to guard him as he got passed. Using his right hand he passed the ball behind his back to the left and did a teardrop into the bucket.
Now everyone was wide eyed. So that's what Imayoshi's eyes actually looked like. He ignored the looks he got from the other players and ran back on defense. That seemed to wake his team up and follow suit.
Off to the side both Momoi and coach Harasawa were surprised at what they'd seen. Momoi was the first to comment. "I wasn't expecting that."
"I don't believe anyone was. Let's see how he does now that they're more on guard." Harasawa commented as the game continued.
Sure enough almost everyone on the court now had serious expressions on their faces. That display clearly having rattled them slightly. Aomine being the only exception.
Not that it mattered to him. Naruto slowed down and began guarding Aomine who'd asked for the ball the moment it hit the ground. From the corner of his eyes he could see that they everyone was off to one side leaving him and Aomine by themselves.
"So we're running ISO" He thought to himself as he kept his eye on his opponent. He watched as he dribbled between his legs and bent down slightly. "He's going left" Everyone watching had their mouths slightly agape as Naruto intercepted the former ace, forcing him to stop the moment he tried to dash passed him. "You're gonna have to do better than that." The blond commented. Aomine didn't respond, instead narrowed his eyes and took a step back before running towards the left wing of the court with the blond still on him. Naruto followed until they were almost out of bounds when Aomine jumped and using his left hand tossed the ball towards the backboard.
It hit once before dropping down into the basket. Naruto whistled in appreciation. He'd seen some people do that before but not with their non dominant hand. Turning his attention back to the blue haired ace he was surprised to see a smirk on his face. That was the most emotion he'd shown since he got here.
"Your moves are good against the rest of them but they won't work on me." He taunted before running back on defense.
"Don't listen to that self centered bastard." Wakamatsu told him as he'd heard what Aomine had said. "Thinks he's so great…" He trailed off before inbounding the ball to him. Naruto walked down the court, his eyes never leaving the blue haired ace.
"He's fast but nowhere near his level." He thought before motioning at Aomine to come guard him. The ace didn't disappoint and moved a timid looking guy out of the way, eager for the one on one match. The blond began dribbling between his legs alternating from left to right at high speeds. He even added a few jab steps in the mix to see if he'd bite.
Aomine's instincts were good however as he didn't bite. Oh well he had another plan. On the last jab step he took off to the right. Aomine was briefly stunned at the display of speed but quickly composed himself and gave chase. However, the moment he did so Naruto cut back between his legs and changed direction to the left.
"One more" The ace managed to turn in time to stay on him and thats when Naruto struck. He knew the strain the ankles took when changing direction in a split second and bounced the ball between the ace's legs and took off to the right again. He managed to see the shock in the tan boys eyes as his legs gave out from under him and he hit the ground. The blond however stopped and pulled up from mid range for an easy uncontested bucket.
The rest of the practice game continued in similar fashion. The entire team including coach and manager were bewildered as the new student seemed to be able to get passed and stop Aomine. Granted neither of the two were playing at 100% but it was still incredible to see. After about forty minutes the coach blew the whistle and had everyone stop.
"That's enough for today. Get cleaned up and head out." He ordered before looking to the blond. "You certainly surprised everyone today. What jersey number would you like. Keep in mind that 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9 are taken."
"8 will do." The coach nodded and said he'd have it for him in a few days and welcomed him to the team. As he headed to the locker room to collect his things he couldn't help but over hear some of the other guys talking. Apparently Aomine had gotten injured not too long ago in a match against Kaijo and still wasn't at his best.
This piqued his interest. The guy was good and he couldn't help but wonder how he'd be at full power.
"Well I'm certainly surprised." He heard from behind him as he packed his school clothes into his duffel bag. He turned his head slightly to see the team captain tying his shoes. "I had a feeling you were good but not like this. And I get the feeling you have more hidden up your sleeve."
He had no idea. In that practice match he hadn't even showed 25% of what he could do.
"In any case congratulations on making the team. After that display I have no doubt you'll be starting. Anyway some of the guys are gonna get something to eat in about an hour if you'd like to join us." He offered.
Naruto thought for a second and figured why not. Having friends would make his time here a little easier. "Sure where are we meeting?"
After getting directions he headed home to wash up and get ready. Luckily he managed to finish the little homework he'd been assigned during lunch so he had the rest of the day to himself. After a quick shower he opened one of his clothes boxes and pulled out the first shirt he saw. He stared at the piece for a few seconds. Memories of his friends back home flooded his mind before he shook his head.
Throwing it he grabbed a pair of jeans and headed out. The team was already present minus Aomine who'd declined the invitation.
"Hey guys. Sorry for the hold up." He apologized as he reached them. They all waved it off and began walking inside.
"Uzumaki-san." Wakamatsu called from next to him. "What team is that?" He asked referring to the jersey he was wearing. The rest of the team also looked to him for an answer as none of them had seen it before. To their knowledge no school besides Kirisaki-Daiichi had green, black, and white as its colors.
"Oh this is my old team jersey from America." He replied.
"And it's name?" Susa asked as he didn't see anything other than perhaps a green 'J' on the right hand side.
"Jabberwock."
So I'm gonna go ahead and end it there. Someone pitched the idea for Yosen or Rakuzan and while it sounds interesting I couldn't think of how to go about it. Maybe one of you guys can take that and run with it. Anyway what did you guys think? Next chapter I'll show a bit more of his abilities and interactions with the touou team. If you guys have any ideas feel free to let them be known. You never know they might make it. Anyways stay safe you guys.
