Everyone had thought it was best if she stayed at the Boarding House. Her friends reminded her about Rose and how she had hallucinated. It wasn't safe for her to be around humans.
Caroline agreed, she couldn't risk hurting her mum. She still wanted to say goodbye, though. As she lay down on the unfamiliar sheets, she started writing a letter to her mother. Elena sat next to her on the bed. It's been so long since Caroline had properly spoken to her friend. With all the drama, they hadn't invested much in the friendship much. Caroline was more drawn to Stefan these days.
Elena broke the silence and said, 'I never said sorry about Matt, I knew you were together.' They started talking as if Caroline wasn't dying, it was easier that way.
'Actually, he had broken up with me during the Decade Dance,' Caroline admitted quietly. 'Because of me being a vampire.' Caroline took a deep breath then and said, 'I could say the same to you, though.'
'Yes, old Elena would have probably ended up with him,' Elena thought aloud as she looked down at her legs. Caroline knew what she meant. She meant the Elena that still had both parents and hadn't seen as much.
The blonde nodded in sympathy. 'I am sorry,' Caroline said to her. They shared a look of genuine friendship. Still, it felt strange to be around Elena without Bonnie.
'Do you know where Bonnie is?' Caroline asked curiously as she examined her wound. It was starting to feel quite painful now.
'Yes, she and Stefan are trying to find a cure for you,' Elena said.
Caroline groaned and said, 'I'd rather be able to say a proper goodbye to them.' She sunk down on the bed dramatically.
Elena raised her eyebrows and let out a laugh. She must have looked 'So Caroline.' That's what her friends often said about her.
'Well,' Elena said, 'I'd rather we don't need to say goodbye.' Caroline knew she couldn't stop them and changed the subject.
'Can you get Tyler? I want to say goodbye to him,' Caroline said suddenly.
Elena looked up in confusion at this statement. It probably didn't make sense to her that she would want to say goodbye to the person that caused this.
'Are you sure?' Elena asked tentatively.
'Yup,' Caroline said with a smile.

Her head felt heavy on her pillow. The blonde felt hot and she was sweating uncomfortably. It's starting, she thought. Caroline was startled by the knock on the door. In a sudden movement, Caroline turned her head to face Tyler. She was lying on her side then, watching him. He was stood near the door, slightly awkward. Not knowing where to put his arms and where to look.
'Caroline,' Tyler said hoarsely. His brown eyes were raw with emotions. 'I am so sorry.' His face fell as he looked at her arm.
'I forgive you,' Caroline said. She didn't want him walking around with guilt for the rest of his life.
'I don't forgive myself,' Tyler said closing his eyes.
'Tell me what happened,' Caroline said. 'What do you remember?'
He stumbled over his words at first. 'I was...' He paused. 'I remember getting knocked out in the tomb, and the next thing I know is I wake up in the woods somewhere.' Tyler shook his head in confusion. 'I could feel myself starting to shift, the moon pulling at me.' She could see Tyler's pain as he spoke. 'I tried to make it back to the Cellar in time... But I was too late.'
He sputtered. Wanting to explain himself more.
But Caroline interrupted. 'It's okay,' She said. 'I understand.' She smiled at him. It was after all not his fault that he was left in the woods unconsciously.
Tyler was bewildered at her understanding. 'I don't deserve you,' He said.
Caroline closed her eyes then. 'Goodbye Tyler,' She said as her head fell back on her pillow.

'Klaus,' Caroline shouted, her eyes opening wide. Someone was holding her. She needed to get away, she thought. She was in danger she was sure of it.
'Shh,' Stefan whispered, 'It's a hallucination. You are okay.' Caroline identified the source of the voice. It was Stefan. Stefan held her tight as he carried her up some stairs. Caroline looked around her, she didn't know where they were. Was Stefan her enemy?
'Where are you taking me?' Caroline asked distrustfully. Her expression was wild. She looked around for attackers. The blonde felt like she was burning and she was drenched in sweat. Her shirt was clinging tight to her upper body. 'Let me go,' She said with venom.
Stefan didn't answer her as he opened the door.
The first thing she saw was Elena.
'Elena,' Caroline said, 'Are you in on it, too?' Caroline looked at her accusingly. 'Are you with Stefan?' Elena raised an eyebrow at her.
'She is hallucinating,' Stefan said blankly.
'Ah, that explains it,' Elena said.
All of sudden Caroline heard another voice. 'Ripper, it's time to take Katerina out for a stroll.' Stefan looked surprised at this request. 'This is part of our agreement. I expect you to be back soon.' That was the moment Caroline realised Klaus was here. 'Do not lose her,' Klaus added. The 'or else' was left out, but everyone knew it was a threat.
Stefan let go of Caroline and a couple of moments later she was left alone with Klaus.
With no support, her body felt so weak. She stumbled, but Klaus held her upright. He was standing behind her. He had his arms around her waist pressing her to him. Caroline couldn't see his face, but she could feel it make contact with her cheek. His stubble created friction with her soft skin.
'Are you going to hurt me?' She asked. Klaus paused before pressing a small kiss on her shoulder.
'After saving you?' Klaus asked tilting his head. 'Now that would be silly, wouldn't it.' She felt the vibrations of his voice in her ear, it calmed her down. Caroline let out a deep breath.
His face was near hers again. She felt his smirk as he said, 'It's almost as if you wanted to see me again, Caroline.'
She furrowed her brows. 'I don't know why I am here,' Caroline said, 'Stefan wouldn't answer me.'
In response to that statement, she felt him gently touch the area around the bite. Caroline gasped at the touch, it was sensitive. Klaus paused and a twisted smile appeared on his face.
Then he brought his lips to her ear and said, 'Stefan mentioned you had had an unfortunate run-in with a werewolf.' Caroline felt his warm breath on her as he spoke, it made her shiver. 'He came practically begging for me to cure you,' Klaus sighed, 'saying he would do everything.'
Klaus paused for a moment before pressing her tighter against him. 'Should I be jealous, Caroline?' He teased, before adding, 'I would have cured you anyway, but I wanted to see just how far he would go.' She felt his lips brush against her collarbone, it made her moan slightly. 'See if he would really do everything.'
'What did you do?' Caroline asked quietly. This couldn't be good.
'I have my Ripper back,' Klaus said gesturing enthusiastically at the pile of empty blood bags on the floor. 'And I have you to thank for it, Caroline.'
The blonde shook her head. No, no, no. This is so wrong.
Before Caroline could say anything, Klaus bit into his arm and brought it to her lips. The smell of the blood was overwhelming and she felt out of control.
'Drink, love,' Klaus encouraged.
She did and it tasted so heavenly that she moaned. Caroline drank the blood like it was sweet nectar. She didn't allow his arm to move, holding onto it tightly with her hands. She was greedy, she couldn't get enough, any drop that escaped she caught with her tongue.
Klaus was behind her and still holding on to her waist with one hand, keeping her close against his body. So close that she could feel that he was hard. Caroline let out a moan in excitement. She desperately wanted more, she was that greedy. She had an idea.
'Bite me,' Caroline said as she finally let go of his arm.
'Wild thing,' Klaus said as he turned her around and moved them across the room. Klaus pressed her hard against the wall. Her breathing was loud in anticipation of whatever was to come. The way Klaus looked at her was so hot. His eyes were intense, and she had never been so desperate for someone before. Caroline started touching his back with her hands, pulling his body into her. She felt his warm breath on her neck, then Klaus sucked and nibbled on it, not yet breaking the skin. Instead, leaving little marks all over her neck.
Caroline figured he needed an example of how it should be done and bit him hard. Klaus laughed at her impatience, tutting at her as he moved closer to her, wrapping her legs around his waist. He kissed her neck before he finally pierced her skin with his fangs, alternating between licking and sucking her blood. Caroline felt his hands wander all over her body. And she couldn't help but think that this was the sexiest thing she had ever done.
They had to stop when they heard noises on the stairs. Stefan and Katherine were back. Though, Klaus did ask her if she would really mind if they walked in. She had laughed and slapped him playfully.
Even standing a couple of meters apart the tension between her and Klaus could be cut with a knife. Yup, the moment Katherine walked in she had known something was up. Eyebrows raised Katherine had joked and asked them if they needed more time because clearly she and Stefan had interrupted something.
Klaus had only smirked in response and Caroline had turned red as a beet. More time would have been nice though, she thought.
Stefan caught her eyes then, silently asking her what the hell is going on.
Caroline ignored him and quickly changed the subject. The blonde asked Klaus lightly, 'So, what are your plans with Stefan again?'
'We are going on a little road trip, aren't we Stefan,' Klaus said happily with a twisted smile.
To which Stefan had raised his blood bag in a 'cheers'. This is so wrong, Caroline thought. Thankfully a plan came to mind just in time.
'No way, I am letting my bloodaholic friend go on a road trip with an enabler,' Caroline said. 'This is all my fault. Stefan was here because of me and I don't want to be responsible for all the deaths that follow.' Caroline put her hands on her hips and said, 'I want to come along as to minimise the damage.'
Klaus smirked at her and raised his eyebrows. 'A threesome it is, then.'
Katherine pouted, 'This sounds surprisingly fun,' She said.
'You are not coming,' Caroline said decisively. No way, she would have a road trip with her murderer.
Klaus shrugged, 'You heard her, Katerina.'
