"Gory gory what a helluva way to die," I said drifting down to the earth, perhaps a mistake in my life got me here, but I wouldn't know. Well actually I would, since I got here by portal and not by death, so whatever me in the past did to get jettisoned from a comfy office chair to drifting to an icy hell is beyond me. "You know if I was any smarter, I'd say I got the anime fanfiction treatment, and was launched into this world by a bored or desperate god...hey gods above you listening cause I would really like some help getting down to solid ground again!" I shouted while still half way from the earth below. A burst of cold wind sent me flying towards the ground.
"FUCKING HELL!" I yelled, gripping the risers on the parachute for dear life. "I'm an artist not a paratrooper!" I shouted, flying through the air, a new portal opened up causing me to skid on a...white void?
"Welcome to the realm of the gods," A...yellow...glowing deer man said to me.
"...Fucking hell I'm in the shitty timeline where I get ejected out of my own and into the RWBY one, this is a shitty fanfiction, fuck me" I thought squinting my eyes, trying to get used to the brightness of the place.
"You know you could be nice about this," the brother god said sighing.
I got up from my current position on my ass, "well that's more emotion than what I know from-"
"-From the show, yes I already know," the god said, cutting me off.
"Well, go on, explain my grand deed I need to do," I said sticking my hands into my pocket.
"Nothing grand, my brother and I remembered our old project remnant and wish to check on it, however the gifts have not been united yet, and therefore I cannot give judgement nor show up," he said. Sighing, I continue to stand and listen.
"This is where I come in I presume," I said with a slight grimace.
"Indeed, however I don't need you to intervene, simply to act as a career for me as it were," he said with a slight smile, weird.
"Which means? What you ride in my head while I go get myself killed by the grimm overrunning the planet?" I said annoyed.
"Not quite, how do I put this in a way that makes sense for you, you'll be the camera broadcasting to my television, and I'll view the world through your eyes, and see what you see. I will of course send you off with two gifts, ones that should make your task of exploring and living in the world easier, and in return I simply need you to live your life," he said projecting a diagram of what he said onto the void in front of me.
"Alright seems simple enough, what's the gifts though?" I asked.
"The power of creation and augmentation, some of my power essentially, consider it an investment," he said using the relic of creation and a gilded wrench as symbols.
"Alright, fine you have a deal, I hope you'll find this entertaining at the very least," I said sticking my hand out. Shaking it, I fall through a new portal this time only a few meters above a dumpster in an alley. Crashing into the dumpster, I crawl out of it with a groan and realize something, "wait...I never asked how to use my powers...crap," I said aloud annoyed, sensing the gap in knowledge, a book plopped itself in front of me, titled powers for dummies. So the brother gods have humor now, guess that time away must have taught them something. I pick it up and quickly read the section creation.
"Okay so it's as simple as thinking up the object and willing it into existence then," I started to think of a new outfit, one I would be far more comfortable with wearing especially in a new world and city. Turning to dust, my old clothes of thrift store pants and shirt gave way to an army uniform from the stuff I drew not but an hour ago. Looking carefully at myself, I see that I'm now wearing knee high leather boots and an olive drab cotton tunic, over a bark brown dress shirt and tan pants. The main difference between this and what was on a character of mine is a lot of insignia and markings, things like flags and unit markings. And more importantly rank markings, rather not be mistaken for an army officer while i'm still in the orientation phase of my new life in this new world. Getting an M1 helmet, I put it atop my head and walk out of the alley and into the street, immediately recognizing the surrounding area as mantle, well that or a european city.
"Now then, to find the time," I said to myself walking on the sidewalk, a moment of peace in a mostly chaotic world, finding a bench, I sit down and continued reading the manual on my powers. Learning nothing too new, or nothing I couldn't imply. Being that I got these powers from a god and not my semblance, "can I even have one?", I don't have any drawbacks from using these powers as I like, and augmentations can be applied to things after creations, whether a major modification or a simple change like what someone sees. "Speaking of, I think I might just make this a little more interesting," I started to augment myself, changing my eyes to an emerald green from a dark brown, and then changing my left eye to a more mechanical look, something only noticeable to a keen eye. Partially for looks, partially to keep things linked for me, a I changed my view to include a HUD of information, things like what something is or what my current status is.
"Should make life easier to navigate," I said to myself quietly, getting up from my bench I started to wander around reaching a hotel, looking inside I see a familiar woman...or well a future woman. Currently she's hardly more dangerous than any other child. Cinder fall, in the future a manic only wishing for her own power, right now a helpless child in a bad situation. Walking inside I walk up to her.
"Hello there young miss, would you happen to know where the reception desk is?" I asked innocently.
"Right over there sir," she said quietly pointing to a desk manned by a stern looking woman, who I can only assume is Cinder's adopter.
"Thank you, here's a little tip as thanks for the help," I said, reaching inside my coat to covertly create some lien, handing it to the young woman. Walking away before I could get any reaction, I got to the desk and booked myself a room for a week and got a key for it. Walking inside the room, I collapse onto the bed and sigh before passing out for the rest of the day.
-The Next Day-
Getting up from the bed, I picked my helmet off from the floor and placed it back on my head and take a moment to think about what to do next. "I mean the world is my oyster I suppose, I wonder if I can get away with creating my own girlfriend," I thought to myself with a chuckle, walking out of the room, I make my way downstairs to the lobby and sit down on a couch, looking around the place seeing if I can spot the young cinder. "It's before her fall, I wonder if I can save her, probably shouldn't try to interfere in what I know, but I mean morally I have to right?" I thought with a grimace, getting up from where I am. I started to walk around the hotel in a search for la princesa del fuego, or well you know Cinder.
Finding her on the floor scrubbing away at it, I walked up behind her, "you know it might go better if you simply mopped it, it is wood flooring after all," I said creating a mop for her.
"T-Thank you sir," she said cautiously, taking the mop from my hand.
"No need, I doubt you enjoy being on your knees doing cleaning," I said leaning on a wall behind me. Going back to what she was doing, she starts to mop away at the floor quietly. "So what's your name miss?" I asked observing her, I gleaned from my Hud information about her caution and hesitation to talking, mostly due to her employer or I suppose adopter, but if you ask me slave driver, what with that shock collar on her.
"Cinder Fall sir," she said quietly.
"Well Miss Fall, if I may ask, you look a little young to be doing janitorial duties, so how come you aren't with other children either learning combat skills to become a huntsman or in classes for a more civilian profession?" I waited for her answer, I was a little curious, but I'm pretty sure I already know why.
"I'm not allowed to," she said with a frown.
"Well that won't do, how about this you want to take a break and get some lunch, it's about time for it anyways," I said with a smile.
"I would get in trouble sir," she said with a worried look.
"No you won't, c'mon you can blame me if you do, but here-" I create a robotic copy of her, "a perfect copy of you looks wise, it'll clean do the cleaning, while I get to learn more about your situation," I said extending a hand out. Grasping it, I create a cleaner, more appropriate set of clothing for a young kid like herself. "Of course while we're out there, you'll have to pretend to be my daughter, you know so no one gets too suspicious," I said while looking at her slightly crouched to meet her on eye level. Nodding we make our way out the building, and I take her to a random cafe and let her order whatever she wanted. She got only a sandwich and a water, I did the same and we sat down and waited.
"Now then, tell me cinder, what is it you desire most?" I asked. A rather long pause followed, I observed her movements, caution and thinking, which is fair. I mean I wouldn't trust any random adult either, but I suppose she figures that I can't be worse than her adopter.
"To be powerful enough to get away from where I currently am," she on her desire. To which I nod in understanding, I mean I would too in her situation.
"Well, I can't give you power," I lied, I mean I probably could, but I don't want to. Bad ideas, top of the list, give Cinder power. At least in this current moment, maybe I'm being cynical but I'd rather be a little cautious than not.
"But I can at least try to get you away from that place, tell ya what, I'll see if I can wrestle you away from that place, to somewhere better," I said calmly, she didn't make any movements to say yes or no, only observation, "and somewhere better isn't going to be me, not unless you want it to be," I said quelling any ideas about ulterior motives, I don't plan to be her adoptive parent unless she wants me to be, I'd rather her grow up in a family who cares for her. Not some Kid who's going to be involved in way more than he needs to be.
"You would do that for me sir?" she asked with a light in her eyes.
"I mean yeah, wouldn't you, were our positions switched?" I asked, answering her question. Nodding we mostly stay silent for the rest of the lunch break, getting our food we eat quietly.
On our way back I made a stop by a bakery, picking up a slice of a chocolate cake. "Here's a little gift to tide you over until I get you to a better position than you're currently in," I said handing her the boxed slice. We walk into the building and I create her old clothes and a duffle bag, handing it to her and telling her to go, hide the duffle bag with the other clothes and get back to wherever her robot replacement is. Searching for it myself, I wait by it for Cinder to shut it down and find a way to hide the thing without someone thinking I killed a child.
- end -
I'm back, at least until I either lose inspiration with this story or have a major life event that causes me to be MIA for a while. Then it's up in the air, but yeah I'm rewriting my self insert story, still me with OP stuff, but without the baggage of what I tried to do last time.
Anyways, I hope everyone enjoyed this chapter. - The US Doctor
