Of course I do not own Naruto

This story is my way of passing time, hope someone likes it.

Introduction.

When his parents died he knew exactly what he needed to do. There was no question in his heart as to what he wanted. He wanted Itachi to pay for what he did. Nothing else really mattered from this point. He needed to get strong enough to fulfill his desire. In academy he was popular with girls, but he couldn't care less about them. When it came to his team he wanted, deep in his heart to be able to stay with them. But it wasn't possible. He wasn't getting strong enough quick enough. So when Orochimaru sent his people for him he was determined to leave. Sakura couldn't change his mind, Naruto couldn't make him go back. His hatred was stronger than any bond he had.

But after Itachi died, after he killed him, Sasuke didn't know what to do. And there was this man, who said he was Uchiha Madara, and he explained his brothers way to him. It was all Konoha, always. Suddenly his life had another purpose. Destroy his village, burn it to the ground. In his mind there was no way anything good could come from this rotten to the core place or people in charge of it. Revolution was the only solution in his opinion. And then he talked to all the previous kages. Maybe there was hope for Konoha, but he needed to become Hokage for that to happen so he made a rush decision to become one. He joined the battle. They won, somehow. He was 17, and so far he betrayed his friends, joined most wanted criminal, killed said criminal (well, almost), killed his own brother, won the war. There was so much blood in his short life, so much pain. All he wanted is to rest, but he couldn't. Regret and guilt would eat him alive if he did nothing, so he left once again. This time he said goodbyes and was almost sure he would eventually come back.

Her life was different. She was born to the similarly prestigious clan, a hairless no less. But her life had real problems as well. Her mother died when she was little, which changed her father. To him she was always to weak, to emotional and simply no fit for a clan leader. She accepted it, it hurt and she tried but there was nothing much she could do to change how she was. When she entered academy she found herself always following Naruto, an obsession of hers that followed her for a very long time. In chuunin exams she was severely injured in battle against her cousin. Neji hated her, hated main branch and she understood that. Thanks to Naruto her relationship with Neji changed and they became close(r). She trained to become stronger, but never became strong enough in hers or hers fathers eyes.

When she was 16 she almost died sacrificing herself to save Naruto. She confessed to him then but never got any reply. She didn't mind after all there was a war coming. During this war she lost Neji. This almost broke her because it was because of her. She did help bring Narutos spirit up, but she didn't train all these years to become the best cheerleader of the Great Shinobi War. After the war she was in deep depression due to death of Neji and so much more senseless deaths that happened but also because she felt as if she was still not good enough. This time it was solely hers belief because her father for the first time in forever was proud of her and she didn't know why. Nobody could help her, not her father not her sister and not her teammates. She felt the need to look for something elsewhere so she asked Homage for permission to leave and she left.

Their lives could not be more different but the outcome was similar. He went away to look for forgiveness, she to look for herself. He left earlier seen off by his two best friends and sensei, shelf without goodbyes.

They weren't friends, they knew each other only because they were in the same class and had mutual friends. But they had much more in common than that. Both of them were driven by obsessions: his - revenge, hers - proving herself.
