Alright! Here we are with the first chapter of the post season! But first... reviews!
Hazzamo - Honestly lol. And Yang being able to reign Hatsume in makes a lot of sense. I'll have to remember that when they inevitably meet each other.
the mysterious Mr.E - Thank you!
saelinne - I gotta keep pulling her semblance away from y'all! It's all apart of the tease! Just kidding, we'll get to see it front and center in the future, that's a promise!
Apothecary23 - Thanks, it feels good! And thank you for sticking it out and waiting, I can't express my gratitude enough!
Fans del Yuri - Well that is an idea, and as far as what to do with the weapons, I feel like there is going to be a ton of debates going around for the authority figures of MHA.
Brendan1479 - The grandest!
DragonLover26 - Thank you, I really appreciate the support!
Shirosakurai - It was the first line I came up with for Shigaraki when he fights the two, I just thought it was very fitting. In hindsight, it isn't that serious when comparing it something like Bakugo's gauntlets, but at the very least those were made at U.A and are signed off by U.A. Also, for as mean spirited and aggressive as Bakugo can be, he lacks the experience and that extra oomph to actually do anything major, whereas the Remnants, while being cooperative, do innately carry those traits simply because of where they grew up. So, some worry I feel is justified. But this is an issue that I feel will crop up many times during their stay here.
PrintTheDeaf, There are not names, MagicalCatgirl68, Askforlaw - Thank you all for the support and nice words!
chiposkippy - Remnant is a world of bloody evolution. I feel like that only makes sense that it would affect it's population in a dramatic way, even if they still have some reservations. It just means that they can let those reservations go if necessary. I only hope I can display this accurately as this story continues.
Kayden Delta - Thank you so much! There's not too much going on this chapter, but it does scratch a few itches I've had for this story. The next two are where the real fun begins!
ReaderWarrior - Thank you for the reassurance! Finally hit that double digit milestone! Here's to plenty more where that came from! Yeah the Nomu broke out of his ice prison. I really wanted to emphasize the Nomu's absurd power in comparison to everything else. The Rule of Cool is always important! All Might's fast. Simply put. I do think I'm understating the Remnant's abilities a little bit, but I don't want to outright make them that much stronger than their peers, otherwise Class 1-A wouldn't have even a slight chance at competing. Aura and questions, but no immediate answers. I guess you'll have to wait and see. Yang with Bucky's arm would be killer! Anybody wanna petition for a RWBY X MCU crossover similar to Hunters of Justice? Because I'm down for that! And thank you once again for the reassurance of my tumultuous schedule of uploads and updates. I really do appreciate it more than anything!
InverseRaptor - Random chance lol. Maybe I'll keep that in mind for future updates as a sorta birthday present for ya!
Alright, alright, alright. Now we can finally get onto the chapter! I hope you all enjoy it!
Chapter 11 - Post Season 1: Pt 1, Damage Assessment
Instead of returning to grab their personal items from the classroom, Class 1-A, excluding Bakugo, rushed off to the school nurse's room to check up on their injured classmates.
"So, what exactly happened to Midoriya and Xiao-Long?" Kaminari asked to his fellow classmates.
"Yeah, most of us weren't around to see what happened." Hagakure added with a pointed glove.
"After the Nomu defeated Eraserhead and Present Mic," Todoroki began, "A few of us stepped in to protect our teachers."
"Wow, really!? You guys faced off against that giant creature by yourselves!?" Kaminari shivered just thinking about that thing, he wouldn't know what to do if it was right in front of him.
"You should have seen it!" Ashido exclaimed with wide arms, "The villains were about to leave and then all of a sudden, the guy with hands on his face rushed towards Midoriya and Asui!"
The students absent from the action looked towards the frog girl for confirmation. Asui lightly gave a nod as she walked, her tongue sticking out of her mouth.
"It's true. I thought we were dead." Asui said bluntly which shocked the others, "But thankfully, Bakugo, Kirishima, and Xiao-Long appeared and stopped him before he could get close, ribbit."
The gaze shifted to Kirishima near the front of the group at this statement. He grit his teeth at the reminder, but stayed silent, content to focus checking up on his classmates instead. When it was clear that Kirishima wasn't going to say anything, the others continued their conversation.
"So, what happened next?" The bird-like Tokoyami asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.
"If I remember right, they were actually able to capture the hand-guy. Xiao-Long anyway." Sato said scratching his chin, "While Bakugo pinned down that warp villain."
"You would be correct. Not long after, myself and Schnee came onto the scene to help out. I froze the main villain while Xiao-Long restrained him on the ground." Todoroki stated stoically, "However, my ice prison didn't last long as he called for the Nomu to break him free with one punch."
The others gasped at this. They knew how strong Todoroki's ice could be, but that thing was able to break a whole prison of it with only one swing.
"After that, he sicced the Nomu after us."
"Seriously!?" Jirou quietly muttered in surprise, "We struggled fighting even a small group of the regular villains, how did you not die?"
"Truthfully, I wasn't the one fighting it head on." Todoroki answered with a hint of frustration at that fact. Instead, he looked ahead at the white-haired mage of the class. If it hadn't been for her and Xiao-Long, then he wasn't sure how any of them would have survived that fight. That was the most challenging thing he's ever faced and he was relegated to a side role during the chaos.
"Xiao-Long and Schnee were the ones to fight it head on." Asui answered the unasked question as everybody looked to the front of their group once again at their older classmate.
Weiss heard this and sighed before nodding her head, "Me and Yang took it upon ourselves to occupy the creature while the injured could be saved."
"That's seriously awesome." Kaminari said in awe.
"How was it that you two were able to keep pace with that creature? From my understanding, All Might was the one to beat it." Yaoyorozu looked to her classmate and fellow class deputy with a hint of dismay. If she was able to keep up with an All Might level villain, then how far is the gap between them really?
"We weren't. At least not really." Weiss answered firmly, "If it wasn't for Yang's honed reflexes and mobility, she wouldn't have been able to distract it long enough for us to come up with a plan." Yaoyorozu let a brief amount of relief wash through her at that, but it still let her know that she wasn't near on their level just yet. "While Yang distracted, I took the chance to ask for aid from Todoroki in helping." Weiss looked back at the boy, "Thank you, by the way."
Todoroki didn't know how to respond to such a genuine comment but simply nodded and averted his gaze elsewhere. Clenching his fist at his side.
"With the help of Todoroki, me, Yang, and Kirishima were able to lead it into a trap."
"Ooooh, so that's where that giant glacier came from!" Sero said now having that question answered, "We weren't able to see much from up on the stairs, but all of a sudden a whole iceberg just appeared out of nowhere!"
"Your super powerful Todoroki!" Hagakure said cheerily towards the stoic boy.
"That might be an understatement. The Nomu was frozen entirely at point blank range, ribbit." Asui said while Sero shivered lightly.
"Yeesh, I'd hate to be frozen like that."
"But Todoroki was only able to get the attack off thanks to a team attack that you called out Schnee." Shoji pointed out, grabbing the attention of everybody else, "What was it called again?"
"FreezerBurn." Weiss answered, "Normally a combination attack between myself and Yang to disorient our foes and hide our presence, but Todoroki unintentionally filled in for me thanks to his ice."
"Team attacks?" Ojirio finally broke his silence, his tail wrapped around his shoulders like a towel, "When did you and Xiao-Long have time to come up with those?"
The others agreed as well and leaned in to hear the heiress' answer. Most of them had never even thought of the idea of team attacks before, they didn't even have regular attacks yet.
"We came up with it a year or so ago, before we arrived in Japan or U.A. The schools didn't exactly tell us to come up with them, but we took the initiative to do so anyway since me and Yang are typically spending most of our time together." Weiss answered.
"Efficient." Yaoyorozu said holding her chin in thought.
"More like awesome!" Kaminari exclaimed with a wide grin, "How does it work? What do you do?"
Weiss let a small smile come to her face as she looked to the lighting kid as well as a few of the others who were leaning in with rapt attention.
"It's nothing complicated I assure you. We simply put two and two together." Weiss held up her index and middle finger on both of her hands before gesturing with her left hand, "Yang's Ember Celica has explosive ammunition; however, she also has incendiary ammunition." She then raised her right hand, "And Myrtenaster has the ability to fire multiple different elements, one of those being ice."
Weiss then brought both her hands together and held up four fingers on her right hand with a smile as everybody followed the gestures, "When ice meets a sudden explosion of fire,"
"It produces mist." Yaoyorozu finished in realization, "And depending on the force of which the fire is delivered it can produce bigger results. The mist acts as a cover for yourself and a distraction for your enemies. That's…genius."
"Huh?" Kaminari narrowed his eyes in confusion, not following what Yaoyorozu was saying.
Jirou sighed in exasperation before smacking the boy behind the head, "It's like a big fog machine idiot."
Kaminari rubbed the back of his head before perking up in realization, "Oooh, that's awesome!"
"Yeah! I want to come up with a team attack! That sounds like fun!" Ashido enthusiastically said as she waved her arms around, "Come on! Who's with me?"
Ojirio scratched his cheek with a small smile, "We should probably wait until we have regular attacks first Ashido."
Ashido blew a raspberry at the tail man and pouted.
"Not to ruin the fun," Tokoyami interrupted, "But we still haven't heard how Midoriya got hurt."
"Oh yeah, let me guess, he broke himself again, didn't he?" Hagakure guessed as she pointed a glove at Weiss who only shrugged her shoulders as she didn't see what happened to Izuku.
"He did." Asui answered for Weiss, "Me and him were dragging Mr. Aizawa up the stairs when Midoriya wanted to check up on the others after Todoroki let out his attack. Apparently, he seen something as he was making his way down, because I suddenly felt the stairs shake violently and he was gone."
"Yeah, I remember what happened." Sato chimed in, "It was hard to see, but that hand dude was making his way over to you guys," Sato pointed at Weiss and Todoroki, "When Midoriya intercepted him with a powerful punch. It looked like an All Might punch!"
"And in the process, he broke his legs again."
Everybody looked to the usually bubbly Uraraka as she spoke worriedly since they began their trek, "But his attack missed. Instead, he hit something else."
"The Nomu." Weiss finished to everybody's shock, "Todoroki's attack merely slowed it down for a few seconds. After Midoriya let his attack go, he actually destroyed the Nomu's left arm and a part of its torso."
"It was still alive?" Shoji asked in actual bewilderment despite his usually controlled features.
Weiss nodded, "Alive, but weaker. Me and Yang took advantage of this and went on the offense against it."
"And then the unbelievable happened!" Ashido exclaimed throwing her arms into the air, "Schnee summoned a giant knight to fight for her!"
The students who weren't able to see the spectacle scrunched their eyebrows in confusion and looked at Ashido as if she had grown a second head.
"Wai-What?" Kaminari broke the silence looking at Weiss for an explanation.
Weiss smiled lightly at her classmates bewildered faces before cupping her hands and producing a small spinning glyph in between to the others shock and interest. Todoroki narrowed his eyes in annoyance as white smoke began to appear before forming itself into a miniature version of the knight at the USJ. The audience gasped in shock at the tiny creature.
"What. Is. That!?" Hagakure exclaimed, "It's so adorable!" She cooed as the others leaned in to look.
"This is fascinating." Yaoyorozu was amazed at the tiny knight before asking Weiss a question, "Is this like your other creature you summoned during the tests?"
"Essentially, yes." Weiss said with a small smile looking down at her Arma Gigas that was barely the size of her forearm, "This is the Arma Gigas." Weiss commanded the tiny knight to give a salute to the others which delighted them with coos of adorableness.
"Arma what?" Sero raised an eyebrow at the weird name.
"Arma Gigas, otherwise known as 'Weapon Giant' in Latin." Weiss answered the boy. Truthfully, she was surprised it had a translation on Earth, but there were already a ton of similarities between the two worlds, so why not?
"And you said this thing fought for her?" Jirou skeptically asked Ashido who was leaning down to look at the knight.
"Well, obviously not this one. The one at the USJ was easily two stories' tall!" Ashido said before holding her hand out to Weiss, "Can I hold it?"
Weiss shrugged and told the knight to hop into Ashido's hands with a tiny jump. Ashido felt her excitement bubble as she held it out for the others to see.
Everybody ogled the creature as Weiss ordered it mentally to jump from person to person. Despite their worry for their injured classmates nobody could keep themselves from looking at the knight jumping around. Iida couldn't help himself from adjusting his glasses as he watched the thing, briefly forgetting about his guilt over the USJ. Surprisingly, it was Kirishima that was the first to turn away from the scene.
As it hopped onto Tokoyami's shoulder, the bird man couldn't hold back his words, "It's fascinating. How do your summons work? Are they sentient like my Dark Shadow, or do they listen to your orders only?"
"They are not sentient like your Dark Shadow, and they listen to my commands only." Weiss answered as the Arma Gigas jumped away onto Todoroki's shoulder.
The boy silently glared at the tiny knight as it kept on its journey to the next student. Weiss' abilities and glyphs kept getting stronger and stronger as he learned about her. Not to mention her endurance with her Quirk, she could keep producing these glyphs for far longer than what he could. And it pained himself to admit that. That glacier at the USJ took a lot out of him and effectively put him out of the fight for a while, and even when he had the strength to help out again, the most he could produce was a light casing of ice. He looked down at his right hand and clenched his fist. He needed to get stronger with his ice, stronger than Schnee.
"So, you can change your summons sizes?" Yaoyorozu asked and Weiss nodded, "Does the size affect your ability to fight?"
"Yes. The bigger the more concentration it takes, and also how much effort it takes to keep them up." Weiss held her chin, "I'm not quite sure how long I can keep them out, it's not something I've tested yet."
"Either way, this is cool." Kaminari said before patting his thigh, "Come here little guy!" He said to the Arma Gigas before it jumped over to the lightning user and landed on his outstretched hand. However, his excitement was soon replaced with a yelp of pain from the knight poking the boy with his tiny sword and sending him flying into the hands of Sato who perched him on the top of his head.
"It's not a dog dude!" Sero laughed as Kaminari sucked on his thumb where it poked him at.
"I know that! What the heck Schnee?" Weiss simply smirked with a giggle as the other students laughed at the boy's misfortune.
"Class! We've made it to the infirmary." Iida interrupted the fun as he pointed to the door just in front of them, "Now, everybody please be calm and respectful-,"
Before Iida could even finish, the others were all rushing forward to see their injured classmates and completely ignoring the boy. Even Weiss and Yaoyorozu were among the group to run forward as Weiss dropped her summon and made her way to the front.
"Even the deputies…" Iida sighed, exasperated as he sought to catch up with the others.
With a burst of energy, the door to the Nurse's Room slid open as the kids of Class 1-A tried their best to squeeze through the door. Recovery Girl and Midoriya jumped in surprise as the students came straight up to them asking questions a mile a minute with wide eyes and concern radiating off of them.
"Quiet!" Recovery yelled over the kids causing all present to immediately shut up at the stern tone, "Thank you."
Iida came into the room last and bowed to the old nurse, "I am very sorry for the intrusion, I tried to keep them in line, but I was not able to."
Recovery Girl's face softened lightly and tapped the boy on the shoulder, "Not to worry Sonny, it was just a surprise is all." Iida nodded and stood back up as she addressed the eager crowd, "I can only assume you kids are wanting to check up on your classmates then?" Everybody nodded. "Go ahead, but keep the noise down."
"Thank you." Yaoyorozu said to the elderly woman as the rest made their way over to the shocked Izuku.
"How are you feeling Deku?" Uraraka asked with concern looking over his body and the casts around his legs once more.
"Yes, are you in any pain?" Iida was quick to jump in, "Do you need anything?"
"I can go grab something if you do!"
"Yeah, don't hesitate to speak up!"
"How are your legs?"
Izuku's face was red at the amount of concern being sent his way, but eventually found his voice to speak, "I-I'm fine, guys!" The class of students quieted down as Izuku regained his composure, "Thank you, but I'm fine. No pain whatsoever."
Uraraka's shoulders sagged lightly and her eyes seemed to brighten up at this, "Well, that's a relief. You had m-US worried there for a moment." She caught her slip up as the others chimed in with their own agreements.
"Thanks, but it's not me that you all should be worried for."
Izuku frowned as he looked to the bed opposite his on the other side of the room. The rest of the class followed suit with worry as they looked at Yang lying down in the bed, still asleep despite all the noise. Kirishima, Weiss, and Koda were already by her side while the others were focused on Izuku with Weiss leaning down to hold her hand, Koda standing in shock, and Kirishima clenching his fists.
"Is she alright?" Jirou asked Recovery Girl who had gone back to her desk chair.
"Yes, she's simply sleeping after I used my quirk on her. I imagine she will be knocked out for a while."
Izuku raised an eyebrow at the old hero. He never saw her use her quirk on Xiao-Long, she even said that the girl simply didn't need the healing despite everything that had happened, of course he didn't think she knew that he had been awake at the time to hear that.
"Schnee, if you could stay behind a moment so that I can talk with you?" Weiss caught the old woman's eyes and could immediately tell that this talk would be much more important and should be kept away from prying ears. Weiss nodded her head a moment later, "Thank you deary."
"I'm sorry."
Everybody looked to the spiky red head that spoke as his knuckles turned white looking down at the girl.
"Kirishima?" Ashido asked holding her hand out to the boy in concern.
"I'm sorry. I should've helped." He shook his head as he addressed the sleeping girl, "I should've done something, but I wasn't strong enough. You told me to run, to help somebody else! But all I did was leave you to get injured, both of you." Kirishima's anger flowed out of him, mixing with the relief and concern he had been feeling for his classmates, especially Xiao-Long, ever since he had left them to fight the Nomu on their own.
When he saw Midoriya fly in and take himself out of the fight, he knew he had made a mistake. That's why he turned on a dime to take Midoriya away so that he wouldn't be hurt, only to hear yet another scream that's been bouncing around his head for the past hour. He had already come to a lot of conclusions about Xiao-Long; She was strong, she was fast, she was fearless, and above everything else, she was brave. She didn't back down in front of the villains. She didn't cower at the sight of them as she put herself in between the class and the danger, ready to act as a brick wall if need be. Something that he strived to be, all because he was too weak that one day when his classmates needed it the most. And now it was happening again.
"I promise I'll get stronger. I'll get stronger and stand as a wall for this class." Kirishima had a fire in his eyes as he made the promise to the unconscious girl and to the rest of his class. He refused to stand down in the face of danger ever again. He would be a brick wall for his class! "Rest up." Kirishima then walked out of the room despite the others protest to try and stop him, but he had an objective, and he didn't want to waste any more time.
Excluding Todoroki, everybody was concerned as they watched the door where their classmate had stormed out of. They hadn't known the boy for long, but they always knew him to be somebody with an optimistic spirit and passion for fighting, so it came as a shock that he had been so serious and determined.
Ashido frowned the most out of everybody.
Eventually the students were able to push that to the side so that they could continue to check up on their classmates. Todoroki was the first to leave, seeing the two were fine and in good health was the only reason he came, so that was enough for him. After Todoroki, Ashido left with the pretense of forgetting about something that she needed to do, though Hagakure knew better and followed with. Koda had very reluctantly and silently left the room, looking as if he had been both relieved and still terrified all at the same time. From there, student after student left until it was just a handful in the room.
"And you're sure you don't need anything?" Uraraka insisted once more to Izuku.
"I promise, I'll be out of here by night anyway. My legs are already mostly healed as is, so no need to worry about anything. Thank you though." Izuku smiled genuinely at his friend to ease her worries. It seemed to do the trick as she also smiled cheerily.
Over at Yang's bed, Yaoyorozu was talking with Weiss, discussing all sorts of different things. From Weiss and Yang's weapons to something as simple as drinks. Which Yaoyorozu learned that Weiss had a favoring to coffee specifically, while she herself preferred tea.
"I had a friend that liked tea just like you." Weiss said smiling fondly at her raven-haired friend back on Remnant, "We didn't start off as friends, but I easily consider her as family now."
Yaoyorozu smiled warmly at this before it gradually fell into a sad smile, "Truthfully, I've never had many friends growing up. Not without trying I assure you, but those relationships never crossed that threshold of friendship."
Weiss was all too familiar with that feeling as she nodded her head along with the girl's words. Being a Schnee came with many perks but also many downfalls for her life. She was rich and had influence sure, but somebody titled friend was typically only a cover for personal gain. The closest thing she had she supposed was Winter and Klein.
"Deputies, I have a proposition for you two." Iida said as he stepped into the conversation, "Seeing as how we still haven't had a proper meeting of class officers, I wanted to request that we make plans for one. I have some ideas that I think would be beneficial to our class moving forward."
Weiss and Yaoyorozu looked at each other before Weiss spoke up, "I think that makes sense. When exactly would this take place?"
"I was hoping tomorrow, now that I've been informed by Recovery Girl that the school will be closing for a day." The two nodded their heads, agreeing to the plan before Iida produced his phone and held it out to the girls, "So that we can communicate efficiently, would you mind putting your phone numbers into my phone? This will purely be for business I assure you."
Yaoyorozu giggled lightly at that, as if Iida would use it for anything else. Taking his phone, she entered her number before handing it to Weiss who hesitated to grab the device, "Schnee, is everything alright?"
"I…don't have a phone." Weiss said somewhat sheepishly, "Yang and I still haven't gotten around to getting a phone for Japan. Normally that would have been priority one, but with the move taking up as much time as it did, we never had the chance."
It wasn't far from the truth Weiss told herself. Ever since they had landed on Earth, they had found out within the first day that their Scrolls were entirely useless on this planet except for the built-in functions all Huntsman Scroll's came with, as in the Aura Gauge and local communication between Scrolls provided you had the right attachments. Thankfully Weiss had used her influence to keep all of her teammates up to date with the latest scrolls so they didn't even need half the accessories except for ear pieces. Up to now they had decided to leave them off so that the Dust in its systems would last longer for when they actually needed the devices.
"But, if we need a place, I can offer a solution that will make it easier on all of us without confusion." Weiss bought the conversation back as she continued, "We can have the meeting here at the school."
"But Iida said the school will be closed." Yaoyorozu stated quirking an eyebrow.
"The school sure, but not everywhere will be. Trust me, come around nine tomorrow and I will meet you two at the gates." Weiss assured to their shared confusion as to what she was even talking about, "And before you ask, Recovery Girl can vouch for it." Weiss gestured to the older woman who nodded her head.
"It's okay."
"Well, I guess we will be seeing you tomorrow at nine then." Iida then bowed to the two before going for the door, "Rest well Midoriya. Uraraka, would you like to accompany me?"
"Sure. See you all! Get better you two, and let us know when Xiao-Long wakes up!" Uraraka said as she and Iida began to make their way. Seconds later Yaoyorozu decided it was time for her to retire for the evening from this crazy day.
"I suppose it would be best for me to go as well. I'll see you tomorrow Schnee." Yaoyorozu bowed slightly which Weiss mimicked, "Be well Midoriya, and thank you for dealing with our class Recovery Girl."
"It's no problem child, now run along." Recovery Girl watched the girl leave before letting out a sigh as she turned to Weiss, "Miss Schnee, if you wouldn't mind speaking to me outside for a moment?" Weiss nodded her head and stood up, making her way outside the room.
Once the door was closed and the two walked a little further away just in case, Weiss decided to break the silence, "What's wrong?"
"I shouldn't be surprised that you can tell somethings off," Recovery Girl sighed with a smile that didn't feel right at this moment. A child shouldn't be this perceptive. "I never used my Quirk on your friend, not much need when you have an active shield around you at all times keeping harm away from your body. However, normally when you do take damage, your Aura responds."
Recovery Girl looked up at Weiss with those nearly squinted eyes, "My eyes may not be what they once were, but even I can see that shimmer of energy from your Aura. It's especially noticeable when your Aura restores itself. The day of the practical exam when Xiao-Long was in my room, I watched as her Aura seemed to brighten up and her body straightened as if she wasn't tired anymore. The problem is, since Miss Xiao-Long has returned today… I haven't once seen her Aura activate."
Weiss's eyes widened at this as worry once again came to the forefront of her mind. She was no Aura expert, but she couldn't exactly recall any information about something like this ever happening before on Remnant. This was a problem, a major problem. If something was wrong with Yang's Aura what would that mean for Yang's soul?
"Wait, I have something that can give us confirmation for sure." Weiss said suddenly, "Our Scrolls!"
"A Scroll?"
"A Scroll is similar to phones on Earth; however, Yang and I's were specially made for our jobs. On it, there is a function that allows us to look at our Aura percentages, over time we've tried to focus and figure the percentages on our own, bur even still we need them every now and again. It tells us if our Aura is intact or reforming."
"Then it sounds like the perfect tool to know for sure." Recovery Girl felt the mood of the situation lift and a more genuine smile formed on her lips, "Go retrieve your Scroll dear. I'll be waiting back at my room for you."
Weiss nodded before she began running down the quiet U.A halls after school. Her heels clacking against the tiled floors resounded loudly like the ticking of a clock counting down the seconds as she flew down floor by floor. Her mind running just as much as her legs, trying to convince herself that everything would be fine and that Yang would be back on her feet in no time.
After some time, Weiss burst back into the Nurse's Room to see the same elder speaking with Principal Nezu and the detective that first spoke to them. Izuku was nowhere to be seen assuming that he had already gone home Weiss shook her head as she turned on the Scroll in her hands.
"Miss Schnee, Recovery Girl has informed us of the situation, please, go ahead." Nezu gestured for Weiss to come use her device.
Weiss didn't say a word as she held Yang's scroll up, imputing Yang's code and touching it to Yang's arm momentarily before it unlocked and it shifted showing a holograph screen with a picture of the four of them together as her wallpaper. This garnered a small relief for the heiress as a Huntsman Scroll would only unlock if it could detect its users Aura signature. Within a few seconds Weiss pulled up the Aura Gauge function and it displayed the readings clearly to everybody present.
"It's…full." Weiss said, a breath escaping her at the bright green bar and the 100% percent right underneath it.
"Thank goodness." Nezu said after the tension slowly died down.
"But what about her Aura's reforming?" Recovery Girl was still skeptical as she looked at the readings once Weiss handed the device to her, "The report said that she suffered a major attack, but there were no critical wounds on her outside of her arm, but that's mechanical. And I imagine she wouldn't scream out in pain because of that."
Weiss' mood lowered as she processed what Recovery Girl was saying. She was glad that Yang's Aura was still intact, but that didn't mean that Yang was out of the clear just yet.
"You're no expert, but you weren't wrong about Aura recovery. There is a noticeable effect it takes on the user once its restored." Weiss held her chin as she tried to figure out what this means for Yang. Yang's Aura wasn't just intact, but also entirely recovered as well. So, why was it not showing itself? Unless…, "Yang took the attack straight to her Aura when the main villain attacked her. From what I saw, he had some sort of disintegration Quirk. Perhaps using his Quirk directly on Yang's very soul was too much for her Aura."
"A direct hit to your soul," Nezu spoke softly as he looked to his sleeping student, "I can only imagine the pain it would cause. Based on everything you two have told us about your powers, it almost sounds like Miss Xiao-Long's Aura has locked itself once more."
Weiss' eyes widened at that implication. An Aura locking itself after it's already been unlocked is crazy, and yet, Weiss didn't have any arguments to disprove this theory.
"However, that's only a theory." Nezu lightened up a little as he addressed the others in the room, "We are no experts on this, so we can only take these theories with a grain of salt. Regardless, I think it best we stay in higher spirits for when she wakes up. Perhaps my theory is wrong, and Miss Xiao-Long will be back in no time."
Weiss appreciated the principals attempt to cheer her up, and to a degree it did, but the more pessimistic side of her brain ran with so many terrible outcomes that only got worse and worse. That was until she took a deep breath and focused herself. Letting the air go, she cleared her head and focused on the present. Yang was currently out and her Aura wasn't acting normally, so she needed to be by her side throughout until she woke up.
"Thank you, sir." She thanked the mouse-bear with a small bow.
"No need Miss Schnee, however, there is still one more matter that needs to be resolved."
"Miss Schnee, are you aware of your weapons blade?" Tsukauchi stepped into the conversation with a neutral tone.
Weiss furrowed her eyebrows before unhooking Myrtenaster to look at it. It looked as it always had, the tiniest of scratch marks on the blade were a sign of wear and tear over the constant battles it's been in, but otherwise it looked fine. That was until Weiss looked at the tip of the blade and her eyes became confused.
"What?"
"Are you aware that there are multiple villains currently resting in a hospital with major lacerations to their body?"
Weiss put two and two together easily as she looked back to the detective, horror and confusion etched across her face, "I-I didn't. I mean, I wouldn't! Not on purpose anyway!"
Tsukauchi put a hand up with a small smile, "Please, calm down. I knew right away that you wouldn't do it on purpose. You don't strike me as that type of person." He let his smile drop and sighed out loud, "All the same, this isn't something we can simply ignore."
Weiss mentally cursed herself. She was better than that, she knew how to use her Aura to strike somebody without theirs unlocked. It was actually something that Winter taught her very early on in her training before Beacon. What made her lose focus?
"The problem is that we haven't yet come to a decision on what to do about it." Nezu said as he looked at the gleaming rapier. "Ideally, taking it away would appease everybody," Weiss winced at this, "However, it's not something I want to entertain for your sake."
"The problem however, is that where you're from you are explicitly taught to kill your opponents. And for good reason." Tsukauchi tacked on after the principal, "But that isn't how it works here. There are no Grimm and the people don't have a protective barrier around them. When you strike somebody like you would back home, you leave lasting damage instead of a minor inconvenience."
Weiss let her shoulders sag as each word passed through his lips. She knew all of this intimately. This shouldn't have ever been a problem that she would have to face in her life, and yet here she was basically getting a retelling of the same things Winter had permanently hammered into her ages ago.
"I don't want to take you or Miss Xiao-Long's weapons away, but as an officer meant to keep everybody safe, I simply can't let this slide unless I can get some sort of incentive to say otherwise."
Even though he was talking to Weiss directly, for some reason, she felt like that last bit was said with a bit more emphasis than usual. Her eyes widened slightly at what the detective was doing. He was giving her a way out. Something to allow her and Yang to keep their weapons. Looking back up and straightening herself Weiss spoke.
"How about I give it a sheath?"
"A sheath?" Tsukauchi asked.
"A clear thick plastic that will slide overtop, essentially dulling the blade and allowing it to be relatively harmless without hindering my abilities."
Weiss hoped they would accept this solution, because truthfully, she didn't know if she would simply allow them to take Myrtenaster. It was one of the only few things she had left that tied her back to Remnant, not to mention the memories and training she had done with it throughout her whole life. While she wasn't like Ruby, she did hold her weapon fondly. It was an extension of herself as Ruby would say.
"Hmm," Tsukauchi thought over the idea, deciphering the pros and cons of it, "And where would you get this sheath made?"
"I was thinking of asking Mr. Power Loader."
Tsukauchi nodded his head at that, "Power Loader is a good inventor with inventions that can withstand damage, okay, I'll agree to this. However, I need to see a demonstration of its use when you get it made."
Weiss nodded fervently at that, "Of course. And thank you sir, you won't regret this."
The detective smiled softly, "I'm sure I won't. Well, Nezu, I think my work here today is finally done." He bowed to the creature, "I'll see you in the future sir."
"Thank you for your work detective. I wish you a good night on your way."
With that, the day had finally come to an end for the residents at the U.A building. Yang was moved to her own room back in their apartment on the school grounds where Weiss left both her and Yang's doors open just in case something happened. Recovery Girl made her way home with Nezu tagging along and the entirety of the school had fallen dark with nary a sound.

Toshinori sighed out loud as he stepped through the automatic sliding doors of the hospital. He had just visited his fellow teachers who were still recovering from the attack. Hisashi was conscious and still in a good mood despite what had happened. When Toshinori tried to apologize to him, he simply waved it off, however, he did ask for a favor from the man. It looked like All Might now had to appear on an episode of Present Mic's podcast as a special guest. Toshinori happily agreed without complaining, it was the least he could do.
When he visited the others, they were still unconscious, so he left them to recover. The doctors didn't say when they would be back in business, which made him all the more guilty for what happened. He sighed once more as he ran a hand through his blonde hair. Doing this though had him look up to the sky where he just barely caught sight of a silhouette of a person on a rooftop before they disappeared. The silhouette looked familiar to him. Not thinking much past that, Toshinori let his curiosity lead him to the buildings direction before ducking into an alley and transforming into All Might. With a mighty leap he was on top of the building where he had seen the person, but there was no trace of them.
All Might scanned the surrounding area before he spotted a blur moving in the distance from rooftop to rooftop.
"Gotcha!" He said as he leaped to their direction.
In no time he was able to decently catch up with the mysterious person, but even still the person didn't slow down or stop. Using the buildings to duck and evade from him without a break in their speed. With another leap forward after touching down on a rooftop, All Might went flying at an incredible speed where he caught sight of a tattered red cape as they passed by a light pole quickly.
All Might's eyes widened in shock before they steeled over in anger. This was the vigilante from earlier today! The one that evaded him!
'Well not this time!'
All Might thought as he redoubled his efforts to catch this vigilante. He still had nearly an hour left in his hero form, and he was more than willing to commit his time to chasing after this person. If he caught them, at least he will have done one thing right today.
As he increased his determination to catch this person, he could tell that he was catching up to them leap by leap and step by step. Still though, they were wily and slippery even for him. Constantly ducking behind and past structures to throw him off, but he wasn't giving up so easily, not now when they were so close. They had already crossed a good ten miles or so from the hospital before the person suddenly leaped high into the air, landing on top of a pillar connected to a bridge that led into Hosu. All Might leaped onto the opposite pillar across from them, his muscles tense and ready.
He tried to get a better look at the vigilante, but all he could grasp was a simple dress shirt and the tattered cape flowing in the wind. The only other thing that struck as odd to him was the handle that poked out of his side on his lower back letting him know they were armed.
"Show yourself! Who are you?" All Might said, putting as much of his heroing voice into it to try and cower the person into answering.
The person put up their hands in a placating manner as they spoke, "Whoa buddy, I'm not your enemy here."
His voice was like grinding rocks together. He was male All Might observed as he looked more closely at his silhouette in the darkness. The spiky hair and lanky figure helped paint a picture to the hero.
"You showed up a few weeks ago, and have been purely working outside of the law. Vigilantism is a punishable offence that directly puts you against me. So, sorry to say, but you are."
The vigilante scoffed at this, "This place's stupid rules." They shook their head before reaching into their shirt for something that made All Might tense up slightly, "Don't worry buddy, it's not a weapon." He shook the rectangular object in the air in front of him as it made a sloshing sound. A flask. "You want any?"
"I'll pass." All Might grit his teeth as they shrugged their shoulders and took a drink from it, "The rules are here to keep the peace, why do you feel the need to break them? What help does it do to strike out on your own?"
He put the flask down before shoving it back into his breast pocket, "What 'help?' How about earlier today when I was trying to help you out."
"So, it was you."
"In the flesh. But before you attempt to try and capture me, I'll tell you now that I didn't mean to have you chase after me like you did."
"Overlooking a vigilante out in the open goes directly against my job as a Symbol of Peace."
"And I can respect that, truly." Despite the circumstances, All Might could tell that was genuine. "I've been watching, you keep these people safe, but you can't be everywhere. So, I figured I could help every now and again."
All Might internally groaned. Vigilantes were some of the most annoying parts of the job for him. They weren't villains, they saved people, the problem is that they didn't play by the system. They act out on their own without thought for the rules put into place. This wasn't America where vigilantes popped up all the time without consequences.
"Look, I appreciate the gesture, but what your doing is still opposing the laws of Japan. But perhaps I can change your mind. Come with me and I can help you continue doing what you're doing, but legally." All Might held out his right hand, hoping this guy would just make this easy for him.
The man let out a small tired laugh as he shifted his weight, "Sorry pal, no can do. Simply put, I don't have the time or patience to go through the heroing process. What I'm after can't be put to the side."
"What are you after? Maybe I can help."
"A way home."
All Might narrowed his eyes. A way home? Why did that sound familiar to him?
"Where do you live?"
The person turned to face the river. All Might readied himself if he tried to make a move.
"Far away from here. So far in fact, that you wouldn't believe me even if I told you." All Might made to retort but was stopped when the man spoke once more, "Well, I've wasted enough time here already. I've got plans tonight, plans that can't wait for anybody. I'll see you around All Might."
With that the man leapt off the pillar.
"Wait!" All Might reached out his hand as the man disappeared into the pitch-black water below. He could jump down there and search for him, but even he knew that would be a pointless endeavor with how dark it was. "Dammit."
He shook his head in aggravation. A way home? That wasn't the normal motivation that vigilantes had for why they do what they do. But why was that piece of information so stuck on his brain? It was like he had heard it before.
He decided to put it on the backburner for now. It was late and he was far away from home, not to mention that he was still in his hero form. Not wanting to exceed his time limit, All Might leapt far into the distance away from the bridge, resolved to figure out the vigilante's words in the morning.
7,493 words.
As the title of this chapter said, damage assessment. Not much happened in this one, though at the same time some stuff did. We got Class 1-A's general reactions to the USJ as well as some characters in particular having some interesting developments moving forward. All of which I hope I can capitalize on and deliver a good story for you all.
So, I'll say it straight up that there will be one or two more chapters before we truly dive back into MHA proper. And these chapters will be heavily character based. I really want to expand some of the characters relationships with each other, as well as setting up more things for the future. And don't worry, the topic of the Remnants attitude and weapons is far from over. But it has been a long day for everybody involved and so I feel that they can put it to the side for just a moment. We'll get to see more of those topics cropping up as the story continues. Delving into the pros and cons of them both.
With that, I guess I'm done here. Again, not sure when the next chapter will be out, but I already have a good chunk of it planned out already, so all it needs is to be written up and edited over multiple times. I guess I will see you all then!
Peace!
