Everyone has wondered where Nagini's true loyalties lie and how she became the horcrux of Lord Voldemort. However, none have realized the turmoil and destructive mindset she had endured to finally retain her sanity. The once beautiful young girl who was treated like a monster became the monster that they had made her out to be.
Four children circled around a snake, poking its head with a stick before tossing a rock at it. The snake writhed in fear, trying to hide behind anything to protect itself. While a young boy watched in amusement, wanting to see what the snake would do to protect itself from these vicious children. Tom Morvolo Riddle pressed his forehead against the window, his eyes narrowing at the green snake that seemed to be begging for the four children to stop with the beatings.
"Please stop. I mean no harm!" the snake hissed, her eyes watering as one of the children whacked her with a long stick. "Please...Please stop!"
Suddenly a book flew out of the window and slammed into the child with the stick's back. Immediately, the boy turned around to meet eye to eye with Tom Riddle who looked unbothered by the ordeal. The boy wanted to do something in return for the pain Tom had caused him but his friend quickly latched onto his hand.
"Don't...he's that devil child." one of them whispered. Without another word, the four children went back inside the orphanage, afraid of what would happen to them if they angered the "devil" child. Tom Riddle had made it known that he was a troubled kid that would hurt anyone and anything that came across his path. Even the orphanage caretakers were quite afraid of the young boy despite his devilishly handsome looks.
The snake looked up at the boy, "Thank you child…"
"You're welcome." the boy mouthed back while staring into the magnificent snake's eyes.
Nagini's eyes widened in surprise, out of the many years she had been travelling alone in search for someone to understand her, she had finally found that one person. Eagerly wanting to confirm her suspicions, Nagini looked up at the window once again but much to her disappointment, the boy was no longer standing there. Each day from then on, Nagini waited for the boy from behind the trees, hoping for another simple conversation. On the day of Tom Riddle's eleventh birthday, a surprise visitor joyfully invited Tom Riddle to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. On this day, Tom had finally received the news he had longed for, an escape from the damnation of this filthy muggle orphanage.
Looking out from his window, an emerald scaly object slithered its way from the frost covered floor of the winter snow. Tom Riddle buckled his boots before rushing out without his coat, not that the caretakers cared in any way. Nagini's eyes saw Riddle running up to her and she immediately halted before facing the young boy hopefully.
"You." Tom panted, breathing heavily from the cold air. "Do you want to come with me?"
Nagini hesitated, analyzing what the male was plotting against her. "Can you...hear me?" she questioned nervously.
Tom nodded his head, "Indeed I can. What is your name"
Nagini couldn't help but see a glimmer of hope in the young boy, "Nagini. My name is Nagini. Can you truly understand what I am saying?" she questioned once again.
Tom clicked his tongue in annoyance, shoving one of his cold hands into his pockets. "I said I could. Do you or do you not want to come with me, Nagini?"
Nagini immediately nodded her head, finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, she slithered her way up to his single outstretched hand and wrapped herself around his body to keep the male warm. "Save me…from this wicked curse..."
On the day of starting Hogwarts, Tom Riddle sneakily smuggled his pet snake onto the Hogwarts Express without anyone's knowledge.
Few Years Later
After attending Hogwarts, Tom Riddle, indeed found this place to be impressive as well as found it quite a nice place to settle into. He made friends with fellow pureblood Slytherins such as the Blacks and Lestranges, the perfect friends in his opinion. However, he noticed the one man who had personally sought for him to enter Hogwarts, kept an annoyingly close watch on him. To dispel all ill thoughts of him, Tom actively displayed the good boy act in which he became top of the class. Tom Riddle often spent his free time in the library, much like a bookworm, however no one knew his thoughts lies a deeper meaning.
Placing his bag onto the table, Riddle walked over to an area labeled "Restricted Section", knowing very well he was not allowed to be in there. An emerald book immediately caught his eye, it read: From Lady to Snake, 1000 stories. He reached for the intricate binding before someone's hand had shot out, pushing the book back into its original place.
"What do you think you're doing in the restricted section? Where's your pass, child?" the librarian questioned with her eyes narrowed. Tom smiled his sweetest smile at the elder, dipping his head in a slight bow as if saying he was sorry.
"My apologies, I couldn't help but notice how delicate some of these books looked. It was entirely my fault for not controlling myself properly. I sincerely apologize for crossing the line. It won't happen again."
The librarian's eyes scanned each and every movement that Tom Riddle made, making sure he was not lying to her, "It's alright. Remember, fourth years aren't allowed in the restricted area without a pass from a teacher. If you'd like to check a book out, please come back with a signed pass."
Tom nodded his head, "I understand. I'll take my leave now." With that Tom left without the book, his eyes trailing after it despite the librarian situated the bookshelf back to how it originally was. Grabbing a thick book about Potions, Tom slung his bag from the table and checked out of the library. Upon entering his room down in the Slytherin dungeons, Nagini was peacefully sleeping inside her cage. Pulling a notebook out of his bag, Tom started on his first underground concoction on brewing a potion that could temporarily allow Nagini to relive in her human body.
Nagini awoken from her slumber from the loud rumbling noises, noticed a foul looking substance inside of Tom's cauldron. Tom Riddle stirred in the pot while looking through the textbook he had checked out earlier, not understanding why his concoction looked different than he had imagined. He had wanted to alter the Polyjuice Potion into a potion that allowed Nagini to take the form of her human body, but somehow it didn't seem right.
"Tom?" Nagini questioned from her cage.
"You're awake." he replied unbothered as he continued to add random ingredients into the cauldron. Nagini wretched at the foul smell, writhing as she wanted to be let out of her cage. Tom Riddle finally looked up, unlatching the lock from the cage before returning back to his potion.
"Is that for me?" Nagini asked as she slithered up to have a better look at what he was brewing. Inside was dark and murky with a watery texture, however the moment Tom placed the final ingredient, the color changed from brown to red. Tom's eyes fixated on the potion he had just created, sweating as he used a spoon to scoop some of the substance out.
"Nagini. Do you trust me?" he asked. Nagini said nothing, eyes watching the potion the male had just created carefully. She would be lying if she said she trusted him, but honestly what had she had to lose.
"I suppose." Nagini replied meekly.
Tom Riddle held out a scoop full of potion to the snake, eagerly awaiting for her to drink. Nagini prayed in her mind that nothing would go wrong as she delved into the potion, lapping every last bit that was in the scoop. After a few seconds nothing happened, causing both Nagini and Tom Riddle to sigh in disappointment.
"Well it didn't kill you at least." Tom muttered, flipping through his notes once more to see what had gone wrong. Suddenly the door to his room flew open, revealing a young boy with red marks all over his face.
"What happened to you?!" Tom exclaimed in disgust as the boy stripped off his robes and tossed them into the bin.
Avery pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance as well as the foul smell of the concoction Riddle had brewed. "Girls, they're a menace!" Avery exclaimed, wiping away the lipstick stains from his face. "What are you even brewing?"
Tom Riddle lifted Nagini onto his bed before using a spell to clean the mess he had made, "Nothing, just practicing."
Avery nodded his head before jumping onto his bed tiredly, "Well, I'll be off to bed first. Remember Prefects are coming over tomorrow morning to inspect. Night."
Tom shrugged his shoulders, personally he wouldn't go to bed without showering, but who was he to say about another's personal hygiene. After cleaning himself up, Tom Riddle got into bed himself and was fast asleep within minutes.
"I wonder when he brought her over…" Avery mumbled to himself.
A beautiful young girl had her arms snaked around Tom Riddle as the two were fast asleep next to each other. Placing a hand on his waist, he was unsure whether to wake the two up or risk being caught by one of the Prefects.
"Tom.." Avery whispered, using his wand to poke his roommate. Tom stirred from his slumber, eyes narrowing at his friend for waking him up. "I don't mean to wake you, but you should send her back before the Prefects come…"
"Send back?" Tom questioned, feeling a weight around his waist from behind. "Who?"
Avery tilted his head towards the female who was still sound asleep, causing Tom to roll over and come face to face with a female with dark black hair and porcelain skin. Tom jumped out of his bed in shock, pointing an accusing finger at the female. "Avery who'd you bring back this time?!"
