"He died doing what he wanted, no matter what, right? I bet he was happy" - Guts

Thank you, Kentaro Miura, your legendary work will continue to live on.

Rest in peace to one of the greatest mangakas in history.

I do not own 'Fairy Tail' or 'The Gamer'

Lumen Histoire.

My mind began to scramble as I tried to recall what exactly that was.

While I knew Ivan and his guild were at the Grand Magic Games, the details concerning that arc are passable at best as some key details are lost to me. The phrase itself was something I was familiar with, as I do remember him asking his son if he knew where its location was. Based on how he brought the topic up, I can deduce that it was obviously magic-related and was possibly linked to Makarov, since he ordered Laxus directly rather than confront his father.

Other than that, I had no clue what he was talking about or why I could be involved in this.

"Are you going to answer my question child?" The veteran mage stated as his eyes fixated on my own, his annoyance wasn't hard to notice, "Or not?"

"I have no idea what that is," It was a mostly true statement because of my meta-knowledge, but that was it.

The tension growing between the group was evident as the Ex Fairy Tail member was leaking bits of his magic, likely to intimidate us. It was akin to what Gildarts used against me during the S-Class trials with his Magic Augmentation, but I wasn't entirely sure it was the same.

From the corner of my eye, I could feel Erza and Kagura calling upon their [Requip] space, ready to move at a moment's notice. The temperature around us began to steadily drop as Gray's fingertips froze, his [Ice-Make] magic was on standby.

"Do you know why I sent an S-Class mission out to not just any random guild, but Fairy Tail in particular?" He asked as we answered his question with silence, "It's quite simple really. I required strong mages for what I needed to do. The people in that pathetic village were barely enough."

"Then it was you who made those people disappear…" Gray widened his eyes as the dark mage only rolled his own in response.

"They are a part of it now." Ivan pointed behind him with his left thumb to the beast resting behind him, "Shouldn't be long until it's up."

With a swift glance over to what I assumed to be an Etherious, I used my [Observe] skill.

Curse: [?]

A good chunk of this is way too confusing.

I couldn't even see his total stats as it was 'unknown'.

My eyes trailed downwards as I stared at what was supposed to be the monster's magic, instead it was replaced with something else.

What the hell is a curse?

His MP was now replaced with CP as he has no magic to use.

Wasn't he supposed to just have magic?

He was an Etherious as I suspected. His reputation 'Despised', was likely a default because his status was always pissed off.

Perhaps my [Observe] skill isn't powerful enough to recognize these 'curses'. I was tempted to use it on Ivan, but quickly remembered he was a [Thought Projection] and wouldn't work.

I reached out with my [Sensory Magic] on 'Abaddon' and shuttered at what I felt.

'Please help me!'

'This is hell!'

'Kill us!'

'Make it stop!'

'Mommy! Daddy!'

'It hurts so much!'

Agony.

Despair.

Hatred.

I was overwhelmed, even with [Gamer's Mind].

This was like...no...it was the thoughts of people crying out, waiting for the suffering to end. Rage wasn't the only thing mixed into that abomination, people's very souls were fused and forced to fuel the creature's boundless fury.

Men, women, and innocent children were violently used as a feeding tool for the beast.

How many people were shoved into that...thing?

My hand slowly moved to clutch my mouth.

It was sickening to just ponder about that.

"You're a monster!" Kagura roared as her sister placed my hand on her shoulders, stopping her from advancing towards the man, "No wonder why you were kicked out!"

"What exactly is your purpose?" Erza frowned while she held the gravity mage in place, "Why are you doing this?"

"What would happen if Fairy Tail failed their mission, and is the sole reason why an entire town is wiped off of the map?" The son of Makarov grinned as we listened in horror, understanding his intentions, "I wonder what the old man will think when his poor children are found dead at his feet."

"So you're trying to frame us?" I glared at him, realizing what the man was planning, "You're going to swoop in and stop the monster after it's caused enough havoc, so you won't be recognized as a dark mage anymore due to your 'heroism', am I right?"

+1 INT

"You catch on quickly," He said in an amused tone, "But yes, that is precisely what I intend on doing."

Gray clenched his fists as he heard the former Fairy Tail mage chuckle at what would be genocide. While I knew why he was getting emotional listening to something hit way too close to home for him, now it was purposely being done for the sake of a publicity stunt.

"Something doesn't add up," I said with a frown as he glanced over to me, "Why did you enlist those people if you could do it yourself?"

"They were a simple means to an end, why should I be the one to get my hands dirty?" Ivan shrugged nonchalantly as he continued, "I wouldn't want anything to come back to me, now would I?"

Ah, so that explains why they were acting normal. Although, I'm still somewhat baffled how he could bypass my [Sensory Magic] like that. He had the power of a Wizard Saint though, I shouldn't be surprised at how he casually went unnoticed by us.

"If you truly don't know anything concerning Lumen Histoire…"

I could see Ivan snarling as he grew more frustrated. Almost immediately, we tapped into Magic Augmentation as the [Thought Projection] used his own.

"Then I suppose this concludes our little talk."

In just a moment, hundreds of paper dolls formed around him and were launched forward, forcing us to dodge in opposing directions. While [Sensory Magic] allowed me to see the attack before it was launched, my body could only react so quickly. Luckily, I was able to move in time to avoid the attack.

"[Shikigami Magic: Torrent!]" He uttered as the dolls separated into smaller chunks, chasing each of us individually.

"[Ice-Make: Saucer!]" Gray creates a giant spinning ice disk, which cuts through the magic, and maneuvers its straight towards the dark mage.

"How amusing," Ivan chuckles as a wall of paper blocks the attack casually dispelling it, "To think children could get this strong, I wonder how you'll all be in a few years?"

While I couldn't really sense his magic entirely, as I'm sure he's masking it with [Illusion Magic], he likely had to use a good amount trying to revive the beast from its container. Ivan was on a time limit and we will use that to our advantage.

My entire body began to shine as I reached into my Inventory, calling upon not only Sakabatō, but using the Kirigakure Hunter-Nin Uniform as every advantage would be needed to fight against this kind of opponent.

Physical Endurance Buffed!

50% - 55%

The attire itself was only a 5% boost, but I'll take what I can get. I've refrained from using this armor that much as I haven't gotten a Gacha Coin in a while, so I keep things like this for special occasions.

Occasions such as this.

Runes began to dance around my blade as I stomped my feet and jumped forward.

"[Dark Écriture: Annihilation!]"

The spell radiated brightly, leaving a trail of runic letters following behind my blade. I reached Ivan within moments and was suddenly blocked by a barricade of paper dolls.

"Do you think it's going to be that easy?" He lazily turned his head my way as I simply smirked.

I didn't say a word while leaping high enough to pierce my sword into the ceiling and cling to it with my feet using [Telekinesis].

"[Ice-Make: Ice Walls!]" Gray shouted as several barriers surrounded Ivan, giving a clear pathway for the siblings.

"[Twin Moon Flash!]" The sisters bellowed creating two crescent wind slashes zoomed towards the son of Makarov, as I focused my [Lightning Magic] onto my feet and waited.

Ivan turned his direction towards the attack performed by the siblings and put up a wall using his [Shikigami Magic].

Just when he did, lightning flickered at my feet as I bounced off of the cave's ceiling and aimed my strike at the man's back. He groaned in pain as my blow landed forcing me to leap away, dodging a wave of paper that crashed into the spot I stood previously. It will take some time to chip away at his Magic Augmentation in order for us to affect his body directly.

"[Gravity Magic: Lessen!]" Kagura shouted as Erza, Gray, and myself were coated in a purplish hue.

Dexterity Stat Buffed!

202 + (528%) + (25%) = 1,585.7

I felt my body grow faster. While I wasn't as agile as when I was on Tenrou Island with all of its benefits, I was still quick nonetheless. I considered using my Fairy Tail Mage perk, but decided against it. It would be best saved for crucial moments.

Hanging in the air, my hands were pulled to my side as I let my imagination take hold.

"[Lightning-Make: Mjölnir!]" My magic pulsed as an enormous hammer formed, composed entirely out of lightning, as it came slamming into the umbrella dolls that shields him at the last moment.

The cavern rumbled as I applied more pressure into my attack. I noticed Erza switching into the Flame Empress Armor and Kagura flaring her magic. With that, I retreated backward and gained some distance from the man.

"Why you little-!" Ivan growled out, but he didn't have time to say everything he had in mind as the purple-haired girl moved forward and used her spell.

"[Gravity Magic: Sky!]" The purple-haired girl motioned two of her fingers upwards, as the ground beneath Ivan rose he did with it.

"[Ice-Make: Skyward Slide!]" Gray bellowed as the ice he created began to arc up.

"[Fire Magic: Soaring Fire Blade!]" Erza utilizes her equipped sword's flaming blade, while using Gray and Kagura's individual spells to quickly rise with uppercut spiral fashion, striking the dark mage in a flurry of barrages.

A small smile began to form on my face as I watched Erza ascend upwards, constantly striking Ivan with all of her might. We didn't need to communicate in words to convey the plan. The magic dwelling within our bodies did all of the talking for us.

The requip mage landed down gracefully, as Ivan used his paper dolls to cushion his descent to the cavern floor.

Gray hurried over to our side as we waited for the man to use his magic once more. It was obvious that our approach was to simply force Ivan to continue using more of his power, while at the same time, spread his attention thinly by bombarding him from all angles.

Not only that, but the man is forced to minimize his usage of even Magic Augmentation, as he isn't capable of regenerating like us.

If he wasn't low on magic or was at full strength when we encountered him initially, even as a [Thought Projection], this fight would be a whole different scenario.

Through my [Listening] skill, I heard Ivan click teeth together indicating his annoyance as we continued to dodge his onslaught.

"You damn brats!" The veteran mage roared as he rose to his feet, his discomfort wasn't difficult to notice.

Ivan's magic swelled as he rocketed forward, prompting me to barely move out of the way, while he slammed both Kagura and Erza into the dirt with a noticeable bang. The dark mage tossed the pupil of Ur to the side as the adopted sisters were able to maneuver their way out of the man's grasp.

"[Shikigami Magic: Dark Bomb!]" With just a gesture, Ivan released a massive amount of shikigami dolls that converge, forming a large sphere, which then glows purple releasing a powerful wave of energy towards the sisters.

The explosion afterward shook the entire cavern as I'm required to use [Telekinesis] to hold myself onto the ground.

I witnessed both Kagura and Erza flying out, slamming into the cavern wall with an audible crash, provoking the area to tremble once more. I'm honestly fairly shocked the cave itself hasn't collapsed, then again, Ivan likely did something so this creature 'Abaddon' wouldn't die.

Emerging from the smoke, a rush of paper moved towards me as I dodged out of the way to rendezvous with Gray.

We slid across the rocky floor, positioning ourselves in a similar stance.

"[Lightning-Make:!]"

"[Ice-Make:!]"

""[Azure Panther!]"" Emerging from our combined magical circle was a panther creating solely out of ice, but its shell was laced in blue electricity that crackled against the ground with each step, as it raced forward to its target.

Lightning-Make 73 - 74

(Cost of magic depends on the effect and complexity of said spell)

While the spell isn't exactly a Unison Raid as I simply coated his magic rather than a fusion, this was merely a small glimpse to mark how far we've come. I dare say more experienced mages aren't even capable of performing something like this.

The animal twisted and turned around the barrage of paper trying to stop it in its tracks. The panther suddenly bent down and surged ahead attempting to bite its target. Just as it got close enough, the construct was penetrated by a sudden thrust of paper piercing its underbelly. Our magic's creation begins to glow as the near-instantaneous eruption causes Ivan to put up his Magic Augmentation to shield himself from most of the damage.

I frowned, noticing how easy it is to hurt the man.

What was he trying to do?

Was Ivan purposely holding back?

Erza and Kagura were quick to recover, immediately moving to join us as we waited for the dark mage to make the next move.

"You truly are Fairy Tail pests."

We kept our guard up as I slightly tilted my head to the side.

While I'm not capable of feeling his emotions through my [Sensory Magic] due to him being a [Thought Projection], there wasn't any seriousness or urgency in his voice.

He was waiting for something, but what exactly?

"[Shikigami Magic: Grand Tsunami!]" He bellows creating a wave of paper dolls that come hurling towards the four of us.

The spell itself was covering a vast range, which was intended to both restrict and deal substantial damage at once. While [Lightning Body] could dodge the attack, I opted against it as leaving the others behind didn't feel right with me. Not only that, but the spell itself was only meant to be used for compact bursts, and that's not even addressing the overdrive aspect.

"[Gravity Magic: Earth!]" Kagura used her magic, trying to stop the impending spell from crashing into us, but it hardly fazed it.

I could sense Ivan was concealing himself behind the wall of paper, not allowing for a clear shot against him. His magic was now fairly low as the cave began to rumble once more, indicating that he only had a few minutes at best before he evaporated.

Erza attempted to assist Kagura with her [Telekinesis], while Gray and I tried to put up a shield utilizing our respective maker-magic in an effort to redirect the tide.

A sea of paper crashed into our physical and mental barriers. The hollowed cave quaked just as it did countless times before, as the earth beneath scraped against the spells being wielded on opposite ends.

I glanced over at Gray as he did the same. There were no words spoken as he simply gave a nod, causing me to drop my section of the barrier, letting the [Ice-Make] mage take over completely.

Using a considerable portion of [Lightning Magic] onto my lower body, I began to make my way around the ocean of paper. Some of Ivan's magic separated from the group to chase after me, they formed into large spears that fired out which I danced around, using the cavern walls to bounce and evade the onslaught.

Jumping away from another attack, my eyes were able to find Ivan as he struggled to impale me with his [Shikigami Magic], as I retreated to the roof of the cave.

The lightning sizzling at my feet began to intensify once I poured more power into it.

"[Shikigami Magic: Piercing Heavens!]" The dark mage uttered, as an enormous size of paper materialized from the floor like a pyramid rising into the skies.

It continued to climb at an accelerated rate as I waited for the right moment. Akin to a missile seeking out its target, the shikigami dolls rushed at me as lightning began to crackle at my feet.

I jumped towards the spell, causing a spider web of fissures from the ceiling, while leaning my body slightly away from it and diving in the direction of Ivan himself. The hands at my sides were locked in place, as I used my magic to weave around the barrage of dolls trying their best to skewer me.

My [Lightning Magic] accelerated me further as more power was put into my lower body. The dark mage widened his eyes as the buzzing sounds of electricity in my hands faced his direction.

"[Lightning Magic: El Thor!]"

A magic circle formed at my fingertips, as a bright blue pillar of light discharged outward, and consumed Ivan's very being. The large cluster of electricity exploded causing the entire cave to tremble as I poured more power into the attack.

"Holy crap!" I vaguely heard the voice of Gray shout, though much of what he said afterward was flushed out by the spell.

I landed on the rocky floor with a thump and let out a deep breath.

While I had been practicing Enel's technique for some time now, I wasn't expecting the amount of collateral damage to be this much.

I was honestly surprised that wor-

"Wha-"

There was barely any sound. I didn't have time to understand what was happening.

I couldn't breathe or scream as an enormous fist of paper buried itself engulfed my body. Magic Augmentation was the only thing stopping it from ripping my head straight from the shoulders it was sitting on. Ivan sent me crashing into a cavern wall, which I was lodged into with an impact echoing inside the cave.

The response I gave to the warnings was coughing up blood and slowly dislodging myself.

My vision turned hazy as I took in the surroundings. I could hear people shouting from somewhere, but even with my [Listening] skill, my head felt like it was just used as a basketball.

"One hit…" I muttered slowly while clutching my forehead, "God damn…"

Oddly enough, the Kirigakure Hunter-Nin Uniform was still intact, though there were obvious indications of fracturing scattered throughout the armor.

While I knew Ivan was someone who I couldn't trifle with by myself, even knowing that he's currently a [Thought Projection], for him to do that much damage to me is baffling.

He was over level 100 for a very good reason.

The onslaught of explosions continued throughout the area. I tried my best to understand what specifically was going on, but my sight wasn't exactly cooperating.

"[Shikigami Magic: Spinning Shuriken!]" The son of Makarov summoned what appeared to be dozens of ninja stars that began to fly in my direction.

"[Undrawn Sword Style: Flying Form!]" Kagura blurred forward responding to the shuriken flying towards me as she leaped up in a single motion, and sliced down a good chunk of the spell in the vicinity.

Ivan responded by creating even more shuriken as they traveled past the gravity mage.

He's going to target me first.

Shit.

I focused my magic onto my feet and narrowly avoided the hail of paper by diving to the left. My feet slid across the floor as I navigated around the assault, while the throbbing pain in my head persisted.

His magic was dwindling, and yet, Ivan took out a good portion of my health in a single punch. He was overwhelming a newly made S-Class mage and three mid to high A-Class mages without too much trouble. Ivan was keeping the place intact, while also masking the entire section of the mountain with his [Illusion Magic].

This was the power and skill of someone who would be, if not already, a Wizard Saint caliber mage. If he wasn't a [Thought Projection] or low on magic to begin with, we would be long dead.

I gritted my teeth as Magic Augmentation flowed throughout my body and I entered the struggle once more.

POV CHANGE

This was annoying, and to be completely honest, not worth my time.

"Why did it have to be me?" I scoffed but kept my composure as I moved through the forest, "Damn old man, why not just go himself if he was so worried?"

The moment he was told the S-Class mission was a setup, I was forced to go and assist if necessary, but only once it was completely unavoidable.

Surprisingly enough, they didn't seem inclined to retreat and leave. This was why I was here in the first place, to make sure they don't do anything that'll get all of them killed.

It wasn't that difficult to keep track of them with my keen sense of smell. While my senses weren't exactly on the same level as that dunce Natsu, I was still fairly proficient with tracking people down. The distance between myself and the group was roughly two miles, which was a sufficient gap away.

"Why don't you just answer my question?!"

"He was banished from the guild for a reason and I will not say why, it's for your own good."

"How is kicking out my dad going to help me?!"

I grimaced as the memory resurfaced from the depths of hell I sent it to.

A hand trailed to my right eye as I felt the scar engraved into the skin.

It was a constant reminder.

No matter where I would be or how many years passed, it would never leave. A mirror, using my other magic, or just a few glances from ordinary citizens was all it took to remember.

"I shall wait for you to truly bloom, only then, will you be ripe for the picking."

I shook my head, scoffing at another memory coming into the limelight, as I focused on the task at hand.

From what I could tell, they stopped at what seemed to be on the mountainside for a good bit before they...disappeared.

I was tempted to just rush in, but then quickly remembered that one of them had [Illusion Magic] which I was told about.

It's possible Erza had armor which could use it, but I doubted that.

Daniel Mizuno.

Of course, he knew how to make damn illusions.

The brat just kept learning and learning, which quite frankly, was starting to scare me.

I had tried to get some information on how exactly that was possible, but it was supposedly locked. The only people who had access to Daniel's records specifically were my grandfather, and surprisingly, Porlyusica. Not even the Magic Council themselves knew about this or had an inkling on why this was. Only those two knew what specifically was going on.

Nobody knew why he was learning so quickly, they just recognized that he could.

Magnolia wasn't the only place that was starting to become aware. The entire country was gradually beginning to understand what someone, who was barely a teenager, could potentially do.

The spotlight was moving to Fairy Tail.

It wasn't because of our strength.

It wasn't because of our reputation.

It wasn't because of our members.

The issue was that damned brat.

I never hated nor did I like him by any means, he was an S-Class mage at thirteen years old and power was what this guild lacked, but the fact of the matter was he caused this.

My attention snapped as I turned solely on the floating letters at what appeared to be a cave entrance. The entryway itself is reasonably spacious and was likely the hideout of the arrested mages.

"Runes?"

While I wasn't proficient at creating said letters, I could at least read them.

"If only Freed was here." I frowned at that, but began to read the words anyway.

While I wasn't an expert at creating said letters, I could at least read them. The Dark Écriture mage had taught me that much at least.

ONLY THOSE THAT TRULY DON'T KNOW WHAT LIES INSIDE CAN ENTER

I wasn't able to gather anything, even with my magic amplifying my ears assisting me in doing so.

Did Daniel put this up to prevent people from entering?

It's reasonable to presume that whoever understands what's in this cave in the first place can't access it, forcing them to try and break the barrier, which would likely alert the creator to the disturbance.

Remaining outside once the brats get back is the smarter option, only then will I show them my presence.

Time seemed to slow down to a crawl as I rested on a tree branch not far from the cave opening.

Waiting wasn't one of my strong attributes, and knowing that my magic affinity was lightning, I suspect that won't change, if at all.

It's been just under 20 minutes and not much happened. Other than a Vulcan that came nearby, which I quickly pulverized.

"Damn old man, why didn't he just send Gildarts…?"

The thought had crossed my mind once I made my way towards the village via the train station. A hand quickly moved to my stomach as I gulped at the recollection.

If I remember correctly, the drunken idiot said he was preparing to take a long-term mission sometime next year and wanted to dedicate a good portion of his schedule to training. I honestly have no idea what kind of quest made him of all people train vigorously, but I was wise enough not to get involved with any of that.

There was emptiness coming from the cave itself other than complete silence. The birds chirped as they passed by me.

For some time, I just sat there. My eyes drifted as I adjusted my head towards the blue sky above.

Barging straight into the cave without any kind of extreme dangers would be irritating and stupid. This was their battle, their mission to complete. They're Fairy Tail mages and it would be disrespectful to help them without any immediate probable cause.

My heightened senses shuddered for a moment as my head snapped towards the cave. The runes in front of only access inside began to flicker in and out of existence.

"Me and my fucking mouth." I scoffed as the runes and the magic covering the entire area subsided, revealing a nearly collapsed mountainside, "What in the hell…"

I wasted no time rushing inside, focusing my magic to speed up the process, and find out what in the world was going on.

I sniffed the air twice and caught a few scents. Four of them were identifiable and where the brats, one of them was somewhat discernable, and another was a complete unknown.

"Shit."

With a stomp on the earth, a yellow vibrant color of [Lightning Magic] I've come to familiarize myself with, discharged around my body and I zoomed forward in a single motion.

"[Lightning Magic: Raging Bolt!]"

POV: Danny

I winced as the throbbing pain in my head hadn't diminished ever since I received the injury.

My breathing stabilized once we forced Ivan to scatter his attention between the four of us. While the plan itself was effective at first, once the dark mage began to take things more seriously, our exhaustion became more evident as the battle continued.

"To your left Danny!"

I hopped backward as a paper tentacle impacted my previous place.

Ivan's magic was low, but his control over it was making every use count. It's like giving Sakura's near-perfect chakra control to Naruto's massive reserves. He's conserving every bit of power, while also hitting as hard as he possibly could.

Another wave of paper dolls emerged from Ivan's magic circle and we all readied ourselves to avoid it.

"[Lightning Magic: Raging Bolt!]"

A massive stream of lightning bulldozed its way through the air and detonated once it reached the [Shikigami Magic]. The shockwave afterward sent debris and ashes dispersing around the cave, resulting in the rest of us shielding our eyes.

Appearing from the smoking ashes, was a very tall and muscular young man with orange eyes. Each of his eyes had dark circles, with each possessing a single, prominent eyelash jutting outwards. His hair had numerous spiky strands pointing backward, though some of it fell to his forehead. The most distinctive feature he possessed was a lightning bolt-shaped scar on his right eye.

"L-Laxus…" Gray uttered as we watched the grandson of Fairy Tail's current master stride casually, his hands resting comfortably in his pockets.

"So you've finally decided to show up?" Ivan stood tall as he wiped some dirt on his cloak, his confident demeanor did not go unnoticed, "You took your time, boy."

Laxus Dreyar

Lvl 74

About 3 levels higher than I am currently, but I knew that only meant experience-wise, not in terms of power. I had no idea if I was stronger than him currently, but the situation as we were in now was a far more pressing matter than that.

"Out of all the stupid people I could've run into," The dragonslayer glared at his father, "Why the hell are you here?"

"Can't a man talk to his son?" Ivan responded with a small grin, which only elicited a growl from the other Dreyar.

"I don't have time for your shitty talks, so I'll ask again," Laxus took a few steps towards as his father simply frowned, "Why the hell are you here?"

The dark mage observed his son for a few moments as his lips twitched upwards.

"I wasn't aware you became Makarov's lapdog?"

The conversation grew more difficult to follow, as the throbbing pain in my head had most of my awareness directed towards it.

3 hours was how long the status condition said this was going to take.

What a pain…literally.

A hand clutched my shoulder as I felt Kagura using her magic alleviate some tension in my body.

"I wasn't aware you can do that," I said, glancing over to the gravity mage, "Appreciate it though."

"It's something I picked up a while ago with Porluysica," She turned towards Laxus and Ivan as they continued to speak, but my [Listening] skill was messed up to even understand what they were saying, "You need to rest Danny."

"Right now?" I asked as Kagura frowned at me.

"Yes. Laxus is here to take over for you, so leave the cave and we'll deal with Ivan." Her expression was that of a stoic warrior, a far cry from the little girl that I met at Rosemary Village, "You're too injured as it is."

She was trying to hide how worried she was because of the situation we were currently in. While I could understand where Kagura was coming from, trying to walk out in this kind of situation would be suicidal, even with the lightning dragonslayer.

"He's low on magic and we don't know what that thing is," I peered behind me at Abaddon as the creature was still motionless in the entire fiasco, "I'll wait here until everything is cleared up."

She let out a sigh before nodding in acceptance.

"Laxus! Just beat him up already!" Gray shouted in frustration.

"What exactly is happening anyways?" I inquired as Laxus' magic was steadily climbing.

"We...we don't know, he's just talking to him really quietly," Kagura replied as she groaned in displeasure, "It looks like Laxus could hear him though, for some reason."

[Dragonslayer Magic].

Ivan was purposely utilizing that magic's enhanced hearing to not only tell him something, but make sure none of us could hear it.

Cheeky bastard.

My [Listening] skill was a jumbled mess due to the state I was in, so I couldn't eavesdrop on their conversation.

"In any case," This time, Ivan made sure the rest of us could hear him. He vanished momentarily then quickly appeared behind me and Kagura, quickly tossing us aside, though we took no damage because of it, "I suppose the main event should commence."

No...

No...No...

No...No...No…

I had a fairly good idea what he was planning and shit was about to go from bad to way worse.

"Laxus!" I desperately screamed as he turned his head to me, "Stop him! He's trying to release the monster!"

The second-generation dragonslayer tensed as he stared at his father, who only smirked knowingly.

Kagura grabbed onto me and jumped back to Erza's vicinity as I stared directly at Ivan who placed his hand on the crystal.

"Sadly, as young Danny had pointed out a bit earlier, I'm running out of steam," His hand slowly sunk into the crystals as the appendage became a part of it, "But there's a saying…"

Abaddon began to shine profusely as the shikigami mage's laughter only grew.

"Why not go out with a bang!"

Ivan's [Thought Projection] dissolved as it was completely absorbed. The crystallized lacrima shattered soon after as we all watched horrified.

THUMP...

THUMP...

THUMP...

A heartbeat that echoed out was swiftly overlooked by stomping that shattered the ground with each sounding step. Ivan's magic protecting the cavern from collapsing in on itself was gone, which meant

We all took a few steps back as footsteps approached us, as emerging from the shadows of ashes was a very much alive demon.

"DAMN YOU MARD GEER!"

The Etherious roared as its voice felt like the entire planet was rocking. We covered our faces to avoid the dust flying around.

"HOW DARE YOU TRY AND TRICK ME WITH YOUR PATHETIC GROUP!"

"[Ice-Make: Shield!]" Gray stated as he materialized a cover for us to conceal ourselves behind.

The ice-make mage was beyond terrified, his shield was barely keeping up and I was forced to assist with my [Lightning-Make].

"I WILL NEVER FOLLOW SUCH A STUPID BEING! WHY WAIT FOR THE END, WHEN LORD DEATH WILL MAKE ME ETERNAL!"

"What is that thing yelling about?" Laxus said, clutching his ears and clearly irritated at what was happening, probably because his dragonslayer attributes made the noise much worse.

"I have no idea…" Erza stated as she used her sword, plunging it into the ground to stabilize herself.

"Hmm...humans?" The creature glared down at us like a predator revealing its existence to the wary prey, "I don't feel that hungry, but enjoying a little snack wouldn't hurt."

Abaddon crept forward, eyeing each of us in curiosity. The demon of Zeref massaged its neck with its outstretched hand, letting a sigh in relief escape its lips.

"Now, which one of you should I-"

"[Lightning Dragon's Roar]"

His sentence was cut short by Laxus generating lightning in his mouth and releasing it in a highly concentrated, destructive blast that destroyed a vast portion of the cavern, triggering the entire area to collapse.

"We have to leave, now!" The requip mage shouted as we all heeded her warning.

It didn't take us long to start sprinting for the exit. The mountainside we were situated on crumbled from the tail-end, chasing us out of the cave with the monster's cries behind us, engulfed by the falling debris.

The runes from before were gone, dozens of nearby trees fell over or were destroyed in the process, leaving lasting marks on the ground that acted as mini craters.

Fairy Tail wasn't very consistent when it came to a mage's destructive capabilities, but my fight with Gildarts had given me a whole new perspective on the subject. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these top-tier mages could casually destroy islands.

"Laxus is a dragonslayer?!" Gray gaped as Erza elbowed him to concentrate on the task at hand.

"Oh god, it's like Zenbon Village all over again," Kagura coughed, but quickly turned to stare at Laxus, though he didn't seem bothered by it, "And this time, it's not my fault!"

"It doesn't matter," Gray rubbed his shoulders as he faced the cave-in in front of us, "That...thing...is dead anyway."

"No," The blond-haired man glared at the previously known entry point into the mountain in disgust, "It's alive alright."

"He's right," I said, reaching out with my [Sensory Magic] and located Abaddon crawling its way out, "It's still there."

While I was able to feel the beast through my sensory abilities, it was like touching a sickening amalgamation fused together to produce this monster.

Was this the power of a curse?

If I had attempted to shatter lacrima before Ivan had released it, who knows what could've happened.

"How stubborn,"

Erza clicked her teeth together as in a flash she donned a new armor. It was mainly composed of orange and yellow leather-like material, which appeared in the form of several wing-shaped pauldrons that covered her shoulders and waist.

"[Requip: Morning Star Armor!]"

"That's a new one," I commented in a somewhat surprised manner, "I've never asked before but, how many armors do you have?"

"To be completely honest," Her eyebrows furrowed together, likely in thought, before she answered, "I lost count after a while."

I snorted at Erza's nonchalant attitude as Kagura rolled her eyes.

"It's here," Laxus growled as our eyes darted ahead to see a hand surfacing from the rubble, striking down into the jagged floor, compelling us to move out of the way.

"Humans...no, insects," The beast stood tall and snarled at us, not a word escaped our mouths as we watched the muscular creature, "You should be grateful to be in my presence. It's about time I sent you all to the Lord himself."

Abaddon flexed its muscles provoking the already ruined debris of the cavern to be sent flying in its wake as a dark aura started to ooze out from his body.

'The pain won't end!'

'I can't take it!'

'It hurts so much!'

'What kind of hell is this?!'

The voices returned, but they were in more distress and louder. It felt like hundreds of voices screaming out in pure agony, I had to stop myself from clutching my mouth at the sickening sounds. Yet, even taking all of that into account, this feeling was oddly familiar. The demon called upon his magic or whatever a curse was as his fist came plummeting down like a meteor, requiring us to evade the hit.

"Do you guys hear that…?" I asked, taking a step back while continuing to watch the beast as it powered up, "Those voices?"

"Voices?" Kagura replied, looking at me in confusion then around the area, "I don't hear anything…"

"In front!" Erza exclaimed as we eluded another charge, allowing the creature to crash into some rubble.

"That's right, I completely forgot!" He shouted, throwing Laxus like a ragdoll and burying him into the wreckage, "Insects never stay still!

"[Ice-Make: Crescent Blades!]" Gray fires a barrage of crescent-shaped ice projectiles, allowing them to attack the sturdy creature.

Abaddon proceeded to shake off the storm practically unharmed. The dark aura around his body grew thicker as time went on.

In a flash, Sakabatō arrived in my right hand with runes coursing through it.

"[Dark Écriture: Sailing Sun!]" I bellowed, creating a foul shriek that split the air as a bright yellow arc fueled by runic letters flew towards the beast.

The spell met Abaddon, gashing him across the chest as he spewed purple-colored blood. I used this opportunity to get in close and enhance my sword with [Lightning Magic].

"[Lightning Magic: Injection Shot!]" I rushed towards him with Sakabatō stretched out stabbing him right at the center of the initial wound I made. Once the sword connected, Abaddon's wound started expanding further as more blood was expelled out of his body, pushing him back a fair distance.

"So the younglings have grown stronger since I was last awake, about...who knows how long ago," He casually dragged his fingers across his damaged torso, inspecting it with some amusement, "But this isn't much of a problem."

"He's…" Gray swallowed hard as we watched disturbed at what we were seeing, "...Regenerating."

The spells cast previously were basically meaningless as Abaddon's body appeared to mend itself together without much trouble. The voices continued to scream out in pain, but something was different, a few of them seemed to go silent.

Is he using the people that were absorbed into his body as fuel for this supposed curse power?

"[Gravity Magic: Black Abyss!]" Kagura shouted as the spell I recognized her use way back during the Zenbon Village, zoomed like an arrow racing to its mark, landing and injuring the beast akin to my own strike.

"Strength is all that matters..." A chuckle came from the fog the gravity spell produced, "You humans are so-"

"[Lightning Dragon's Breakdown Fist!]" Laxus, who returned from the shadows, gathers a large amount of lightning around one of his arms and then extends the fist forward in a punching motion.

Abaddon's grin was like a feral beast, no it was even worse, it was like a feral demon as he swatted the spell away like a fly.

After seeing that, there's no room for holding back anymore.

Both Erza and I darted towards Abaddon like a missile as the beast sought to crush us into the ground, only to be stopped momentarily by [Gravity Magic]. Kagura's spell had bought the two of us just enough time for an opportunity to cut across its chest creating an 'X' wound.

Putting Sakabatō back into its sheath, I whirled around mid-air and sent my [Lightning Magic] into my hands.

"[Lightning Magic: Thunder Shock Surprise!]" My eyes narrowed as I shot a lightning blast towards the beast using both hands and trapped the demon within an electric field.

Master Roshi's technique was something I had been working on for some time now. [Jutsu Shiki] took time to cast and depending on the rules I inserted, the point varied. I needed an alternative for trapping foes, at least temporarily.

Abaddon roared in pain as I landed on the ground, but still kept my hold on him through magic.

The demon was getting stronger by the second and it was gradually beginning to move even with the spell I placed.

Footsteps rang throughout the battlefield as Archenemy hummed in Kagura's grasp. Her sword radiated a bright white as it was finally unsheathed from its scabbard. With a swing of the blade, a blue curve sliced through the various amounts of debris that littered the area. The attack cut into Abaddon like butter and only stopped as it crashed into the mountain, prompting the beast's arm to fall off limp.

While my [Sensory Magic] was somewhat impaired, I could still feel Archenemy feeding off of the purple-haired girl's magic as if it were a sponge. It drained her at a very fast rate, which explains why her canon counterpart had opted to always keep it under wraps.

Abaddon roared as the limb that was removed suddenly reattached back onto him as tentacles touched his body. It looked similar to what Kakuzu does with whatever his method was called.

I noticed that the voices were a lot less intense now that he recovered his arm.

With speed I didn't even know it could do, the demon rammed its fist into my body, sending me into the distant treeline.

The local wildlife dashed off after my unexpected visit. My vision grew dark for just a moment, before I snapped myself awake with some lightning.

"Holy...Shit..." I mumbled as blood shot out of my mouth, inciting me to groan in pain, "It did that much damage…?"

Everything hurt, but I wasn't going to remain back and fall unconscious while the others fought against that thing. The worst part was it's becoming more powerful every time it tapped into the souls of the people, that's my hypothesis at least.

I hopped to my feet and dashed forward as the sounds of battle drew near with each step.

"[Lightning Dragon's Heavenward Halberd!]"

I instantly recognized this spell as the one that would've pulverized Natsu, if it wasn't for Gajeel intervening at the last second. Laxus raised his hands and formed lightning between them, producing a rather large trident, which he hurled at the enemy.

The dragonslayer's conjuration erupted on impact blasting the demon through the forest, our group following after it not long after.

Erza, who was still in her Morning Star Armor, zigzagged through the treeline and jolted with one kick of her leg.

"[Photon Slicer]" She brought the two sabers together and pointed the tips at the target. A great amount of magical energy started quickly gathering between the blades in the form of a yellow energy ball which was released as an energy blast not even a second later. After the attack was launched, she instantly switched into her Heaven's Wheel Armor.

I vaulted into the air as strings of electricity began to form a pattern I was all too intimate with. The lines stitched into one another, producing my creation to be born.

"[Lightning-Make: Susanoo!]"

I knew damn well that thing was still alive and was getting stronger with every attack. We need to stall it out and reduce the number of souls it uses to zero.

One of Madara's most powerful Jutsu awakened at my call. With just a thought, the spell/armor swung its large blade at the demon who wanted to catch it, only to be crushed like an egg shattering on the floor.

It was still regenerating, albeit much slower than before, but at this point, we've had enough of this game.

"[Ice-Make: Ultimate Ice Cannon!]"

"Dance my blades! [Circle Swords!]"

"[Gravity Magic: Fierce Tiger!]

"[Dragon Slayer's Secret Art: Roaring Thunder!]"

"[Susanoo: Indra's Arrow!]"

The resulting combination of our synced attack was nothing short of a bomb ravaging a majority of the mountainside. I had immediately encased everyone within my Susanoo as we waited for everything to subside.

The Fairy Tail universe was a damn scary place. If we were able to do things on this scale, what could Makarov and Gildarts, or even...Zeref do.

It was a terrifying thought.

"My Lord…" Abaddon whispers were heard in the rubble in his mangled state as I etched my way closer to him, with everyone else in tow, "I'm not done...I can't…"

His body tried reforming itself, but quickly turned into a disgusting pile of disfigured flesh. He was on his last legs, and honestly, it was pretty sad to watch.

An arm attempted to reach out, pulling itself slowly towards us, like a zombie with half of its body blown off. The Susanoo dissipated on my command near the demon.

"Danny?" Kagura calls out, but I ignored her as I continued watching Abaddon inching his way closer.

"My lord...I must serve...my lord…" The battered beast croaks, barely able to speak at this point, let alone move.

"All those people that went missing are stuck in you, aren't they?" A somber expression crosses my face as he coughs up purple blood, "It's about time I let them rest."

A flash of light allows Sakabatō to reach my hands. I raised it upwards, allowing a mixture of the runes from [Dark Écriture] and [Lightning Magic] to course through it.

"Sleep."

Then, I struck down at the demon, cutting him in half from its head to its lower body. There was a brief shriek in the process, though it died soon after.

'Thank you'

A whisper, but even with my broken and battered state as it is, I could still hear the small gesture.

Its body evaporated soon after, only leaving behind a leveled mountain, and a trail of blood.

I was exhausted, no, beyond exhausted after everything. The ambush heading towards here initially, Ivan being the mastermind, and the long hard battle against him and one of Zeref's demons. I was tired of it all.

Gray and Erza had moved to assist Laxus who was limping as he trudged around. Kagura walked towards me to put a hand on my shoulder, but quickly flipped me over onto her back.

"Kagura...what are you doing?" I asked, while she continued to march away from the wreckage.

"Payback."

"Payback?"

"For all those times you've done this to me," The gravity mage huffed as I overheard a chuckle from whom I presumed to be Erza, "Don't think I've forgotten."

"I can walk on my-"

"Danny...you're so bloody that I could mistake you for a crushed tomato. Laxus is in a better condition than you are." She gave me a serious glare as I winced at the intensity, "You're not doing anything unless I say so."

I opened my mouth slightly, before I closed it just as fast.

Honestly, I wasn't going to argue with her. I'd have a hard-pressed time even getting back to town in my current condition. It was just a matter of pride having her do this to me, but I'll let her have this win...for now at least.

Our four-man team, while we were injured, wasn't in any serious condition as Abaddon wasn't utilizing his full strength at that point. I was the one taking most of the hits so that explains why everyone was well enough to at least get back.

My head leaned on Kagura's shoulder, letting myself get some needed rest.
