I am the bone of my sword
Steel is my body and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to Death,
Nor known to Life.
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works.
"Huh? What's this?" Yang asked in confusion.
Ozpin recognized the first stance, and answered. "It's probably the magic spell used by Archer to create his weapons, though this is just a speculation." Winter was writing the aria into her notebook for further research.
"It sounds kinda sad and poetic." Jaune pointed out.
"When I came to, I was in a burning field."
(Shirou is describing the fire, everything is dying.)
"In other words, in order to let my body live…
My heart died."
The audience felt sick looking at the fire. Ren and Nora were hugging each other, trying to comfort themselves because the fire reminded them of what happened to Kuroyuri. Raven and Vernal finally saw the disaster that gave birth to Shirou and the source of his nightmares. Ruby and Slyvie was crying for seeing Shirou walking in such a hellish landscape. This fire far surpasses anything they have seen before, and it felt malicious to them. Ozpin recognised that the fire felt like the park, and some part of his mind told him the fire was magical in nature.
Everyone was thinking the same thing. What happened here?
"Oh my god...How did he survive this?" Blake asked in a horrified tone, while rubbing her hand on Ruby's back to comfort her. Yang is hugging Ruby as well.
"I'm dreaming."
(Shirou wakes up in a hospital and gets adopted by Kiritsugu.)
"Yeah. To start off with, I'm a sorcerer."
"Wow, you're awesome."
I guess I said so with bright eyes.
"Wait, so he just adopts him and says that he is a magus? I thought they were supposed to stay hidden?" Weiss asked.
"Maybe he just doesn't want to keep any secrets with his son?" Jaune suggested.
(Shirou convinced Kiritsugu to teach him magic, Kiritsugu went on long trips, and as time passed on, Shirou wanted to be like him.)
"Huh, guess he had a pretty peaceful childhood compared to when he was with us." Vernal said. It feels weird to see Shirou living a peaceful life since the Shirou she knows is constantly looking for Grimms and bandits to fight.
(Sakura wakes Shirou in his shed, Shirou greets Sakura, Sakura leaves to cook breakfast, Shirou has a habit of fixing broken things.)
"It's not like I get attached to things.
I think it just annoys me not to use things that can still be used.
And just like that, I was fixing up this stove all last night."
"That's Shirou alright, fixing things that nobody tells him to fix." Raven said with a smile. It is undeniable that Shirou's arrival in the tribe has changed it for the better, since they now have better equipment, better food, and a stable source of lien.
"See! Falling asleep while fixing stuff isn't weird! Shirou does it too!" Ruby complained to her teammates. They simply sighed and shook their heads.
(Shirou comes out of the shed, talks about his house, Old Man Fujimura helped with his inheritance."
"Old Man Fujimura is the big landlord in this neighborhood."
"He's not "like" a yakuza boss, he "is" a yakuza boss."
"Wait, what?" Winter asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Why is he involved with the yakuza?" Yang asked curiously.
"It's certainly true that he's energetic and scary, but he's actually not that bad a person. It really helps me as he pays a lot when I tune-up the motorcycle he likes to ride."
"So he helps the yakuza boss to fix his motorcycles. Who would have thought?" Qrow said sarcastically.
(Shirou goes to help Sakura cook breakfast, Sakura has been helping him for a year and a half.)
"Maybe I'm just feeling guilty about being attracted to my friend's sister."
"Wow, so he's still just as dense as he was in the tribe back then, huh?" Vernal said dryly. It was pretty clear that this Sakura was into Shirou, but Shirou, being the dense idiot he is, couldn't tell. Why would a girl go to a friend's house to cook breakfast every morning otherwise?
Slyvie and Ruby were feeling a little hostile towards Sakura. So they have another rival vying for Shirou's affection now. Looks like they'll have to up their game when they go back to Remnant.
(Sakura, Shirou and Taiga had breakfast. Taiga pranks Shirou.)
"W-What are you thinking!? You're always like this even though you'll be turning twenty-five this year!"
"Ugh, this reminds me of Yang. She sometimes pranks me during breakfast as well." Ruby complained.
Yang pulls Ruby into a bear hug with a grin. "Well, pranking little sisters is a big sister's privilege, ya know?"
"Fuji-Nee, Sakura, and I are now the residents of the Emiya household."
(Shirou explains he is a magus and he hides his identities, he has been training secretly.)
"I say I'm learning, but I can't even cast a single magic spell properly."
"So Shirou's sword making is magic, not a semblance. No wonder I couldn't understand it when he explained it." Raven said.
"Woah, so what sort of magic is it?" Ruby asked with starry eyes. Her idol has been using magic all this time! This changes everything she read about his semblance on the forums!
Ozpin and his circle were in deep thought. So his "Semblance" is actually a magic spell he learned, not given to him by the gods. "Winter, write down every magic spell we've seen on screen with as much detail as possible. We won't have the opportunity to see so much magic in action again."
"Yes, General." Winter replied.
(TV news reports gas leaks because of defective construction, people fell unconscious, Sakura worries.)
"Gas leaks can happen in any building, and on top of that, it hurts to think that hundreds of people are suffering."
Winter raised an eyebrow at this. "How did the gas leaks happen so often? Something is suspicious here."
Glyda gave her opinions as well. "I agree. I know people can fall unconscious from gas leaks, but at office buildings? That's really weird."
(Sakura and Shirou head to school, Sakura heads to the archery club while Shirou heads to the Student Council room. Issei is introduced, asks Shirou to fix the heater, Issei leaves the room to let Shirou focus.)
"I block off my vision and look inside the heater with my sense of touch.
In that moment…
An image appears in my head."
"Huh?" Jaune asked. How did Shirou do that? Isn't his magic making swords? The audience is confused, even Raven and Vernal seem baffled by this development.
"That is the "magic" Emiya Shirou learned from Kiritsugu."
(Shirou explains he has no talent in magic, but is quite good at visualizing structures.)
"In fact, when I first figured out a structure and reproduced it, my father looked surprised and said "what a useless ability"."
(Shirou explains that a magus is supposed to change the structure, so reading it is useless.)
"Really? I believe knowing the structures of objects is an excellent ability. Just as shown, he can save a lot of time when fixing mechanical objects. This ability is invaluable to mechanics and engineers." Winter stated.
"So that's how he's so good with fixing our weapons and cars. I always wondered how did he figure out the fucking problems with just a touch. This explains a lot." Vernal said.
(Shirou finishes fixing the heater, heads out, Rin and Issei argue, and describes that Rin is the school idol and he is an admirer.)
"You're up early, Tohsaka."
"Wait, didn't this happen on the first viewing?" Ruby stated.
Pyrrha agrees. "Yeah, but it's from Shirou's perspective this time.
"Oh man, another one?" Slyvie groaned. Now Rin is her rival as well? Having to compete with Saber and Sakura is hard enough, now even the "Miss Perfect in school" is her competition? She's feeling rather down now.
(Shirou and Issei enter the classroom, Shinji acts like a jerk, Issei wonders why Shirou tolerates him, Shirou says he is used to it.)
"Man, I never thought there would be someone that I want to punch more than Cardin." Yang growled out. This Shinji is pressing all her wrong buttons. Even if she didn't like Shirou, Shinji's words and voice were just infuriating to her.
"Grr… wanna break his legs…" Nora growled in her seat. "No, Nora. You can't break a person's leg just because he is a jerk." Ren admonished.
"Eurgh, his voice just feels fucking disgusting to me." Vernal said.
(Taiga enters the classroom and slips, students shout her nickname, she wakes up as if nothing happened.)
"Gah, don't call me Tiger…!"
The students laughed at Taiga's actions. "Man, class will never be boring if we have a teacher like Taiga!" Yang said.
"Yeah! She looks like a fun teacher!" Nora exclaimed.
Glynda was rubbing her temples. "I cannot believe she is actually a teacher…"
(Kuzuki enters, class begins, class goes on, Issei asks Shirou for help. Shirou agrees. and Issei go home at night, Issei hopes that Shirou be picky about who he helps.)
"Hm? Am I that indiscriminate?"
"Yes. And that's just going to let heartless idiots use you as they wish. You're a busy man, so it should be okay for you to decline from time to time."
"Well, it looks like Shirou still never says no to anyone here." Raven said. She, along with Vernal and Slyvie felt relieved when they realised that Shirou here didn't really act too different from the Shirou they know. The sense of familiarity provided some sense of comfort for them.
(Shirou goes home, meets Iilyasviel.)
"You'll die if you don't summon it soon, Big Brother."
She says something strange.
"Wait, that little girl is a Master? How old is she to participate in a fight like this?" Ruby asked, horrified at the idea that a little girl like Iilya is going to fight Shirou.
"Even fucking childrens are in this? Damn, I don't know if I can bring myself to fight her. She looks like she's not even ten years old, too." Vernal said.
"What monster would allow a little child to participate in such a dangerous event?" Glynda spat out.
(Sakura, Taiga and Shirou have dinner. Taiga talks about how Shirou should relax, and his dream is to become a superhero.)
"…She's talking about things from so long ago.
But it's all true, so I don't interrupt.
Anyways, becoming a superhero is a goal I must not stray from even now."
"I thought he said he's not a hero?" Ren asked. What he saw on screen contradicts what he learned about Shirou before.
Raven thought about this for a little, and said, "Shirou remembers nothing about the time before he met me. He probably forgot about his dream, but he still knows what he wants to do."
"Amazing! So Shirou has wanted to become a hero since he was a child, huh? Well, he certainly succeeded!" Ruby said with a big smile on her face.
(Shirou wants to take Sakura home, Sakura disagrees because of Shinji, Taiga takes her home instead, Sakura blushes.)
"Oh, right! That Shinji jerk is Sakura's brother! How is that even possible!?" Nora exclaimed. Most of the audience were thinking the same thing as well. Sakura just seems like a sweet and honest girl. Who would have thought she was Shinji's little sister?
(At night, Shirou begins to train his magic.)
"I ignore everything around me and pay attention only to what is inside me."
Ruby let out a huge gasp. "Shirou is about to train his magic!" Winter began to focus on the screen, ready to write down every detail of Shirou's magic. Ozpin is paying close attention as well, since Shirou's magic was nothing like he ever heard of.
"Trace, on."
(Shirou hypnotizes himself, and creates a magic circuit.)
"For instance, at this very moment, I am inserting a burning steel rod into my backbone."
(Shirou explains about magic circuits, mana and od. Shirou has no talent nor any Magic Crest.)
"What? How is Shirou untalented? He can make many amazing swords!" Ruby exclaimed.
"Yeah!" Jaune agrees. It angered him to see Shirou's father saying his idol has no talent. It's like the man is looking down at Shirou, therefore looking down at him as well.
(Shirou explains about origins, Kiritsugu didn't want Shirou to learn magic. Shirou can become a magic user, but never a magus.)
"I don't care about that. I don't admire a magus. I admire Kiritsugu."
"Wow, I wonder how amazing Kiritsugu is to inspire Shirou so much." Jaune wondered.
"Composition, analyze."
(Shirou tries to strengthen the pipe, but fails.)
"…It's hard to improve something that already has form."
"Strengthening magic… physical improvements…" Winter is writing down every keyword that Shirou used to explain his magic.
"Looks like he is still far from reaching his current level here." Raven said. The Shirou she knows can turn his clothes as hard as steel in an instant. She always wondered how his semblance did that, but knowing he uses magic explains a lot.
(Shirou only knows strengthening magic, make some substitute objects to practice and to calm down, and describes the dangers of magic.)
"The first step of a magus is to accept death."
"Wow. is magic really that dangerous?" Jaune wondered.
"I don't know. Rin makes it look so easy, but Shirou is apparently struggling with a basic magic." Blake said.
"…Saving someone means not saving someone else. A superhero is really selfish, huh…?"
Kiritsugu said that to me when I told him I wanted to be just like him.
I still don't know what he meant.
But Shirou Emiya has to become a superhero who goes around saving people, just like Kiritsugu Emiya.
While the students felt happy that Shirou was working to become a superhero, the adults frowned upon hearing the last sentence. There is something about the way Shirou said it with such certainty unnerved them.
It's already determined. Emiya Shirou will succeed Emiya Kiritsugu.
(Shirou wonders how he can become a superhero.)
I think a superhero is different from just helping others.
I know that, but the question is, how can I become one?
The difference between the two is the one thing I failed to understand for the past five years.
"Well, he can just become a huntsman, right?" Ruby stated. She believes that being a huntsman and huntress is the closest thing there is to being a superhero.
"Ruby," Qrow said with an unusually stern look, "How many times do I have to tell you? Huntsmen aren't superheroes."
"But a huntsman goes around saving people and fighting the grimm! Isn't that what a superhero does?" Ruby retorted with a cute glare.
Qrow sighed. He has been trying to convince Ruby that a huntsman is not a superhero ever since he first taught her how to fight. He has seen too many young huntsmen that tried to play hero, and died far too young. Ruby's current attitude resembles Summer far too much, and he's afraid of history repeating itself.
