Imani slept most of the next day and her father came to check on her having asked Stiles and Scott what had happened. When she woke up she was still cold and saw Gaz was on her bed post.
"Morning Gaz." She whispered. Gaz looked at her with her beautiful eyes and they shone with what Imani could only deduce as concern.
"I'm alright Gaz just a little cold." Imani said sitting up and reaching over to her bed side table where she'd placed some chocolate from the night before. She started eating it knowing it wasn't the best thing to eat when you first wake up but Lupin was absolutely correct when it helped with Dementors and it helped with Oni as it turned out. Looking up outside she realised it wasn't actually morning, it was afternoon.
"Oops sorry afternoon Gaz." Imani corrected herself.
She slowly stood and moved around her room a little tidying up what was out of place and opened the window a little more for Gaz and gave her pet. Putting on her warmest jumper she ventured out her room and down the stairs.

She sat on the couch watching the TV most of the rest of the day. Her father having written a note to her saying he'd rung the school and said you needed a sick day. Not long into a TV show Imani wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to did Stiles come home from school.
"Hi Imani I see you're awake." He said.
"Hey Stiles. Yep I am conscious." Imani replied. He chuckled and sat down across from her on the other couch.
"So…" Stiles started but paused.
"I see you want to ask me something. Just ask me little bro." Imani smiled softly. He half chuckled in response.
"About… uh last night…" He said slowly. Imani didn't flinch she'd been thinking about what to say all day.
"To be honest I don't remember much." Imani said. This made Stiles sit up straighter.
"What do you remember?" He asked intrigued.
"Well I remember you wanting to leave school early and I do feel bad about not going to the hospital afterwards." Imani started.
"Nah it's alright no need to apologise." Stiles brushed it off.
"Ok uh next after school Scott texted saying to go to his house and that he'd explain when I got there. I didn't think it was terribly urgent so I ran some errands around the school and stuff. After that I just remember arriving at Scott's house and… then being really cold… and yellow eyes like fireflies… then I remember being brought here in someone's car but not my own. Then going to sleep on my bed." Imani said frowning as her story progressed and looking at the ground in front of her like she was trying to piece the puzzle pieces together. In truth her memory was quite clear and she remembered everything. From the oni testing Scott's house, to them stopping her from fleeing, to their hand behind her ear, to the memories that passed through her mind.
"Oh." Stiles said relieved that she didn't know details but cautious because she remembered the eyes. "Well sounds like it was maybe a dream? Or maybe you hit your head on something?" Still suggested. Imani shrugged.
"Maybe. I guess the only one that will know is Scott or whoever drove me home." She said.

"Why don't I call him?" Stiles suggested. Imani nodded. Stiles got out his phone and before ringing Scott he typed something. Imani pretended not to notice this, as it was probably Stiles telling Scott to have a lie ready. He tapped the phone screen a few times and rang his friend, it rung 4 times before being picked up.
"Hey Scott I spoke to Imani about last night." Stiles started.
"Yeah she's here with me and has a couple questions." He responded, her then clicked the speaker button.
"You're on speaker." Stiles clarified.
"Hey Scott." Imani started.
"Hi Imani you doing alright?" Scott asked.
"Yeah I'm good, just a little cold. Um my memory is a bit fuzzy from last night. I remember you texting me to go to your place, and arriving there after it got dark… I don't remember much after that. Just being cold and some fireflies or eye the colour of fireflies…" Imani trailed off.
"Oh yeah um the power at my place went out last night. It went out around Beacon Hills actually. You slipped and hit your head against something. By the time we got torches and candles lit you were pretty out of it. We checked you over and it wasn't serious so Derek drove you home." Scott said.
"Ok thank you." Imani said "What about the fireflies?" She asked.
"There's quite a few that come out at night around here. Maybe you saw them on the way home?" Scott asked. Imani thought he was smart coming up with a lie that didn't fit everything so it didn't sound to made up and perfectly fitting. Made it more believable.
"Maybe… thanks Scott." Imani said. Stiles hung up.
"Why not for a change I cook dinner for the three of us." Stiles suggested.
"So long as you don't burn the house down. Actually that might warm me up." Imani smiled. Stiles scoffed but stood up and headed into the kitchen.
It was a relatively peaceful evening after that. Her dad asked her how she was when he arrived home and it was clear he'd been told what happened so she relayed what the lie was that Scott told her so he wouldn't say anything to supernatural.

It was late into the evening when Imani heard movement and voices in the house. Groggily she rolled over and woke up listening. If it was intruders they had another thing coming. Grabbing her wand from behind her bed side table she got up. But hearing the talking going on she heard Lydia, Scott, Isaac and Aiden. It was then she was confused. Stiles was missing? It was Aiden mentioned Lydia getting feelings when someone's about to die did Imani snap awake. Putting her and in the pocket of her hoodie Imani rolled out of bed and shuffled to her door opening it making the teenagers jump.
"Hello… everyone? What are you all doing here?" She asked rubbing her eyes on her sleeve.
"Uhh…" Scott paused not expecting her to wake up or be home. The other three didn't know what to say either.
"He didn't say anything about telling his sister." Isaac whispered. Lydia rolled her eyes and stepped forwards.
"Stiles is missing and rang Scott. We came here hoping to follow tracks or something to where he may have gone. Scott is now going to the station to tell your dad." Lydia summed up. Imani blinked a few times honestly not expecting her say the truth.
"Uh… that was definitely not what I thought you were going to say." Imani to Lydia and turned to Scott "Stiles is missing?" She asked Scott couldn't look her in the eyes but nodded.
"It's freezing tonight." Imani stated.
"Yes which is why me and Isaac are going to go and tell your dad. Why don't you wait here and see if Stiles comes back alright?" Scott went over and put a calming hand on her shoulder. Imani nodded and her thoughts came together and she went back into her room and came back with her phone and went down stairs. By the time she was at the bottom of them Scott and Isaac were already out of the house.

Station House

"Okay. Is there anything you need to tell me that I can't tell anyone out there? And what about Imani does she know?" Sheriff asked Scott and Isaac.
"Lydia knew he was missing. And yes Imani knows he's missing but I told her to stay at the house in case he comes back." Scott said.
"Good. Can Lydia help find him?" Sheriff nodded.
"She's working on it." Isaac answered
"Anything else?"
"I've called Derek and Alison for help." Scott said.
"Can you find him by scent?" Sheriff asked looking desperate. It was then Parrish knocked on the door saying they'd found Stiles' jeep. At Beacon Memorial.

Stilinski House

Imani had managed to make herself a cup of tea and was sitting at the dining table with it in her hands occasionally sipping it. She was trying to work out what had happened to her brother and how she hadn't noticed him leaving the house. Granted he didn't have to walk past her room to leave but still. She sighed in frustration and angrily rubbed the mark behind her ear.
"Stupid oni." She whispered. Imani knew she couldn't do much magically with Aiden and Lydia in the house. If it was just a werewolf maybe she could do something but she didn't know what Lydia might sense if she tried to find Stiles magically, and she was pretty sure if she tried to leave and look for Stiles and then do something magical they'd tell her stay and may even make her stay.

Hospital

"He's not here. Not anymore." Derek called as Scott and Isaac races up to the roof of the building.
"You mean the whole building?"
"Gone." Derek answered
"I'll go tell Stilinski." Isaac said
"And see if you can find Alison she's not answering her phone." Scott said. Isaac nodded heading back inside.
"Notice how strong the scent is up here? You ever hear of chemo signals?" Derek asked. Scott shook his head "Chemicals signals that communicate emotion. And just our sweat can give off anger, fear or disgust. Take a deep breath and tell me what you feel." Derek answered.
"Stress." Scott said confused.
"And anxiety." Derek continued.
"What was he doing up here?" Scott asked.
"I don't know but there was definitely some kind of struggle." Derek looked around him.
"With who?" Scott wondered hoping Stiles wasn't kidnapped.
"Himself."

Stilinski House

Imani could hear Aiden and Lydia talking upstairs.
"Nothing at the hospital. Derek headed to high school. Isaac going to find Allison. Scott's with the sheriff." Lydia read off, clearly having received a text from Scott.
"And we're standing in a bedroom staring at walls with Stiles sister downstairs." Aiden said. The conversation lulled and the house went quiet once more. Then Imani heard a twang of a string being plucked like on a guitar or something. What followed had her looking around. She heard whispers but they quickly faded. Turning and sitting perfectly still she tried to listen for them again. It wasn't long before she did, more than once. From hearing what Aiden and Lydia said in between whispers they were plucking strings that Stiles has set up around his room that helped with cases. Imani hadn't noticed she'd grabbed her wand and was gripping it tightly. That was why she was hearing the whispers. Imani's eyes screwed shut at the unpleasant whispers. Witches and wizards were not meant to hear what Banshees hear but they could if they wanted to. Although it did cause headaches.

Imani frowned Eichen house? What was Eichen house? She hadn't discerned anything from the whispers. They weren't speaking a language Imani understood. From what was going on though she thought it may be Japanese. She committed the sounds to memory. She'd look them up later.
Imani was unsure of what it meant in relation to Stiles and her heart rate picked up in fear for her brother. It was then Lydia and Aiden raced down the stairs making Imani jump.
Imani was unsure of what it meant in relation to Stiles and her heart rate picked up in fear for her brother. It was then Lydia and Aiden raced down the stairs making Imani jump.
"Where are you going?!" Imani called. Aiden turned around.
"Uh we think we know where Stiles but in case it's wrong stay here. We'll call if we find him." He said hurriedly before following Lydia. Imani rushed to the door to try and get them to bring her along but they were already in the car.
"But…" Imani stopped seeing the car start and drive away. Imani was really starting to hate hiding what she was. The reason behind still hiding it is because her dad was still getting used to werewolves being real along with every other magical creature and if she were to tell Stiles and not tell her dad that's just a new secret Stiles has to keep. Plus she wanted everything with her brother to calm down to so she wasn't adding to preexisting stress.

On the bright side though they were out of the house and Imani turned racing upstairs and practically dove under her bed for her magical ingredients, it startled Gaz.
"Sorry Gaz." Imani muttered and pulled it out opening her books and searched for a location spell. She couldn't acacia Stiles to her she needed something different.
Quickly finding what she was looking for she read over the spell and pulling on her warmest jumper and pulling on some boots she ran cross the hall grabbing one Stiles' jumpers and a pair of his shoes.
"My brother is missing I'm going to look for him. No one tells me to stay home like a muggle." Imani muttered.

She stuffed what she had in a bag and got into her car casting the needed spell. It came up in front of her wand like a small arrow pointing which direction she needed to head to. She kept Stiles in her mind to keep the spell working and using her gut instincts which have never steered her wrong, she started her car. It was then another whisper entered her thoughts. She committed those words to memory to look them up later. The arrow pinged and she braked pulling over. She looked around her at where she'd driven to and saw Melissa's car. looked around her at where she'd driven to. Getting out the wand led her into the woods a ways. She started calling out to her brother feeling that he was close by.
"Stiles!" She yelled "Stiles? Where are you?"

It wasn't long before she heard Stiles yelling in fear.
"Stiles!" She yelled back, she dropped the spell stowing her wand away and ran as fast as her legs could carry her to where she heard her brother. Racing around a few trees she saw Melissa, Agent McCall and her brother. He was screaming in fear and saying the word 'wait'. Melissa pulled him back into her arms saying that it was alright.
"Stiles!" She cried and skidded on her knees in front of him and put her hands on his arms letting him gain some focus and wake up before she hugged him.
"Stiles you're alright." Melissa said. Stiles breathing was returning to normal slowly but it was clear he was still freaked out.
"Stiles." Imani said calmly. He looked at her and reached out a hand for a hug and she happily gave it. Once his breathing had slowed and he looked more aware Imani pulled out the shoes and jumper.
"How did you find us?" Agent McCall asked looking at her suspiciously.
"I went looking. Scott told me my brother is missing and tells me to stay home. Like that was going to happen. It's coldest night yet." Imani said helping Stiles with the jumper.
"You brought…"
"Shoes and a jumper? Yes. Didn't you hear me it's the coldest night yet." Imani stated. Melissa was also a bit stunned Imani found Stiles around the same time they did.
"But how did you end up looking here?" Agent McCall asked pulling Imani a little to the side.
"Scott told me what happened when he showed up at my house. Stiles rang me about a week ago saying he'd been having trouble sleeping, I used to sleep walk as a kid so figured Stiles must be doing the same. I've looked up sleep walking and know people do weird things." Imani said. "I was driving around searching when I saw Melissa's car and thought I'd join you. That's when I heard Stiles scream. I had a hunch I followed it. My hunches haven't steered me wrong yet." McCall let her go and she went back to her brother. Melissa gave her ex-husband a dirty look at what he was insinuating.

They slowly got Stiles into Imani's car and drove towards the hospital with Melissa and her ex following behind.
"Why were you insinuating Imani have something to do with her brother back there?" Melissa asked angrily.
"You got to admit it was weird she rocked up like that." He said.
"She's been searching for longer than have and Stiles was yelling pretty loudly. Anyone would've that. She loves her brother she wouldn't do anything like that." Melissa said.
"How much do you actually know about her? Her records are exactly detailed." He asked
"You had her looked into?!" Melissa asked stunned.
"When her dad was missing yes. What? She was missing for years and suddenly turns up out of the blue? Is she really even Stiles's sister?" He asked.
"Oh I know she is."
"How?"
"She came into the hospital asking for a blood test to be sure to prevent exactly this from happening. I was the one who took the bloods. It came back positive, she is a Stilinski." Melissa ranted. He didn't respond at first.
"It wouldn't be the first time an abandoned kid comes back for revenge." He said.
"God! You're a piece of work! If she didn't care then why was she looking for him? She said it herself she saw my car recognised it and knew more eyes would be better than just her." Melissa argued. He shifted and sat quietly after that.

Hospital

Imani helped Stiles get out of her car and onto a waiting stretcher. He was still a little freaked out and held onto Imani's hand. She walked beside him into a room and her dad showed up a few minutes later. The doctors then came in and Imani stepped out the room to wait with everyone else. Her father joined soon after.
"He's sleeping now and he's just fine. He doesn't remember much. It's a bit like a dream to him. Thank you." Her dad said giving Imani a one arm hug.
"It was the repellent we sprayed in the coyote den to keep other animals out. I couldn't go near it without my eyes watering. It's just a good thing he mentioned it over the phone." Agent McCall said.
"No it was more than that. Thank you." Her dad said
"It was a lucky connection." Imani rolled her eyes.
"McCall can you shut up please and accept my sincerest gratitude." Her dad starting to sound annoyed rather than appreciative
"Accepted." McCall said and the two shook hands.

Imani went home for some needed sleep before she went to work. She felt ok in doing so after the oni thing and knowing that Stiles was safe and in good hands with their father there to.
She noticed Derek walking through the school and frowned why would he be here? He headed towards Kira and spoke to her. She let it slide.
Walking near the classroom Kira's dad teaches she remembered the words from yesterday.
"Mr Yukimura?" Imani asked standing in the door way.
"Yes? Oh Ms Stilinski-Potter." He said smiling.
"Please call me Imani. My last name is a bit of a mouthful." She replied.
"Sure what can I do for you?" He asked.
"I was wondering if you could translate some Japanese for me? I heard it but I have no idea how to spell it." Imani said.
"Sure tell me what you remember."
"Um something like 'Watagushi, na ke de wa nai.' "
"I am not alone."
"And 'Korewa wa re ramogoto nanocha.' "
"This is what we are.' "
"And finally 'Daremoga sore o motte imasuga, dare mo sore o ushinau koto wa dekimasen' "
"Everyone has it, but no one can loose it. You pronounced it very well. Does that help?"
"Thank you. Um it does to a degree."
"It sounds like you only caught part of a conversation and that last part sounds like a riddle." He said.
"Well the answer is a shadow." Imani smiled. "Thank you again."
"Anytime." Mr Yukimura said. She left just as Allison and Isaac walked in.
Thankfully Imani only had a half day of work so she could get to the hospital sooner. Her dad had texted her saying they were running tests on Stiles and that he'd tell her more in person.

Hospital

Once arriving at the hospital she met up with her dad who was waiting outside Stiles' room.
"Hey so I'm here what did you need to tell me about the tests?" Imani asked knowing this was serious by her dad's face.
"They want to do an MRI." Sheriff said looking down.
"Oh okay." Imani said it was clear he wanted to say more but couldn't bring himself to.
They entered the Stiles's room and chatted for a bit before they were ready for the MRI.
"I'm not sure I know how to pronounce this or if it's not actually a misspelling."
"Just call him Stiles." Her dad said.
"Okay. Stiles just to warn you, you're going to hear a lot of noise during the MRI it's due to pulses of electricity going through the metal coils inside the machine. Uh if you want we can get you earplugs or headphones." The doctor said.
"Oh no, no I don't need anything." Stiles mumbled
"Hey we're just one the other side of that window. Okay." Her dad said.
"Okay." Stiles said softly. With that Melissa, her dad and the doctor walked behind said window.

"You know what they're looking for right?" Stiles asked. Scott shrugged. Imani shook her head. "It's called frontotemporal dementia." Stiles answered "Areas of your brain start to shrink." He started and looked at Imani "It's what our mother had. It's the only form of dementia that can hit teenagers… and there's no cure." Stiles finished and Imani's eyes teared up. She had moved to sitting on the bed Stiles was sitting on and reached out to hold his hand.
"Stiles if you have it we'll do something. I'll do something." Scott said. Clearly it meant more than just those words, Imani knew it meant giving Stiles the bite possibly. But Imani could also look into what she could do for her brother in the magical world. She briefly let go of Stiles's hand when the two hugged. When they parted Imani gave him the biggest hug she could and then also moved behind the window. She didn't stand next to her dad but stood a few steps away right now not wanting anyone to touch or hold her or she might break into tears. The noise that came from the MRI initially made Imani jump slightly but she got used it after a little while.

Derek showed up a few minutes later and wanted to talk to Scott. Imani followed saying she was getting some water and listened in on the conversation.
"You know the stuff you were telling me about chemo signals earlier? It reminded me of the time you were teaching me to use anger to control the shift." Scott asked.
"I think you ended up teaching me more about that." Derek responded.
"You teaching me again?" Scott asked.
"Think of it more like sharing a few trade secrets. You know I took Cora back to South America right? It's where she spent most of her time after the fire. But that's not the only reason I left. I needed to talk to my mother."
"Your dead mother?"
"She told me something that changed my perspective. On a lot of things. She said my family don't just live in Beacon Hills, they protected it. This town needs someone to protect it. Someone like you."
"And someone like you to teach me a few trade secrets." Scott said but then he realised something "He was trying to protect us. Stiles was protecting us." Scott said.
"From himself." Derek realised. Imani jumped and stepped away with her cup of water walking towards the MRI room when they ran the opposite direction. Towards the stairs and up to the roof. When she turned back to go into the room again she dropped her cup to cover her ears. Lydia was screaming again.

Imani soon uncovered her ears and looked around hoping no one had seen that and thankfully no one had. She picked up her now empty cup and threw it in the bin going back into the MRI room.
"See this?" Doctor said. Her dad nodded. "The tissue here and there. Both those spots are showing signs of atrophy." The doctor finished not pleased to be relaying this news.
"Atrophy." Her dad stated.
"I'm sorry." The doctor said. Her dad looked stunned and terribly sad, grieving. Imani's heart felt like it turned to lead and stopped. She couldn't speak. She turned away slowly and walked out the room again. It was as the door closed that she heard the Japanese whisper again. It was the riddle. She then heard it again but in English. Her hand still on the door knob from closing it she whispered.
"A shadow." She answered barely audible. It was then the lights started to flicker. The electricity had surged. Imani getting the bad feeling yet again yanked open the door and looked straight ahead. Stiles wasn't in the MRI.
"Where's my son?" Her dad asked.

Imani stepped back and ran to Stiles's hospital room but stayed around the corner from it. A few moments later Stiles stepped out, dressed in his clothes. Imani frowned this wasn't her brother.
The elevator at the end of the hall opened and a Japanese woman who vaguely looked similar to Kira stepped out, and Stiles seemed to recognise her.
"You know me." She spoke. He nodded.
"Then you remember that I won't be deterred by your choice of host. Even if it's an innocent boy." She stated.
"Are you threatening us?" Stiles asked calmly. Imani's heart skipped a beat. That was eerily similar to one of the Japanese lines she'd heard. It was then two oni appeared behind the woman.
"Now I'm threatening you." She said.
"We're not really afraid of your little fireflies." He said sounding bored and he turned to walk away.
"If the oni can't defeat you, I know someone who will." She said hurriedly. It grabbed Stiles attention for a few moments.
