Three years later, Hiccup and Astrid hanged around each other more than the other kids their own age.

Wherever Astrid was Hiccup was right beside her as her friend.

Ingrid smiles when she saw them together and thinks about them married to each other and having a family together.

Hiccup one night thought about where his mom was at because he never saw her around, only remembers an image of what her face looked like.

He climbs down the stairs to see his father stroking the fire, keeping it going.

Stoick hears noise and looks at the stairs to see little Hiccup and ask "Hiccup, why aren't you asleep?"

Hiccup sadly replies "had a nightmare about mom dying and missing her."

Stoick sighs and pats his knee for him.

Hiccup climbs down the stairs and Stoick sets him on his knee and tells him about what his mom was like.

Stoick smiles remembering about her "when I was younger and saw your mother, I was shy about talking to her."

Hiccup nods his head in understanding.

Stoick continues his story "I couldn't talk normal in front of her. When Snoggletog celebration feast happened, your mother approached me and ask me to dance with her. I was ten years older than your mother.

When we dance together, we fell in love with each other."

Hiccup curious ask "what happened between you two?"

Stoick grins "her parents didn't think it was right, but your mother grew a crush on me and let me court her in secret until she turned eighteen when I proposed to her with a marriage contract.

We played with each other, made each other laugh and helped each other through hard times. When She turned nineteen, we got married and two months after the wedding, we discovered she was pregnant with our child."

Hiccup nods his head listening to the story.

Stoick continues "we tried two times before you were born after your mother turn twenty years old and I turned thirty years old."

Hiccup closed his eyes thinking about his mom.

Stoick tucked him back into bed.

A week later Stoick takes him by the cliff and tells him about the home of the dragons called the Hidden World, home to all the dragons of the world.

Hiccup gape in wonder of what it is like to see what dragon species would there be at the Hidden World.

After spending half the morning with Hiccup, he let him go play with the other children and see his girlfriend.

Ingrid always called them as each other's boyfriend/girlfriend to cause them to blush.

Alistair left to join the fishing men to go fishing in the sea.

Astrid was watching her mom fold clothes.

Ingrid smirks "waiting on your boyfriend to come play with you, daughter?"

Astrid grumbles "he's not my boyfriend, mom, he's my friend."

Ingrid laughs "oh daughter, give it time. By the time you two reach fifteen you both might be holding hands."

Astrid sighs "I like him as a friend, mom."

A couple of minutes later, Hiccup came by to play with Astrid since the others were probably doing things that they shouldn't be doing.

Fishlegs was probably reading a story book or reading any book that seems interesting to him.

Hiccup decided to look for something that would show Astrid that he cares about her as a friend.

He walked across a field of flowers in a clearing outside the village and picked a blue flower and went to see Astrid to see her watching her mother fold clothes outside and says "hi, Ingrid Hofferson and good morning, Astrid. I found this blue flower and it reminds me of your blue eyes and I think it would make you look more beautiful than you already are."

Astrid blinked her eyes speechless at Hiccup's comment while Ingrid laughed at Hiccup's comment of expression how feels towards her daughter in a innocent way.

Astrid curious ask "is that your way of saying you like me more than a friend or care about me as a friend."

Hiccup replies "being more than friends and wanting a relationship with you would have to have your approval because I forcing a girl into a relationship or saying you're in a relationship with that girl when she doesn't want anything to do with you doesn't look good in your eyes or your parents."

Ingrid grew curious about Hiccup in way that he could be the best choice for her daughter to marry when they become eligible to get married.

Later on, Astrid walked around with a blue flower in the side of her braid getting villagers to look at her curious about why she's wearing a blue flower in her hair.

When they ask, she told them "her caring friend gave it to her to express that he cares about her."

When they turned five years old, villagers started to treat Hiccup differently from the other children making comments like 'he's smaller than the other children his own age and he was the first one born of the six children'.

Other comments were 'He surely won't be a good Chief after Stoick', 'he can barely lift a piece of wood when the other children can lift wooden swords to train with'.

Two more comments were 'he follows after his mother' and last one was 'when he reaches the age to be eligible for marriage, no girl would think wanting to marry him'.

When Hiccup heard that comment he felt like a little bit of himself died and hide it from everyone.

He hanged around the village drawing scenery in a new sketch book that his friend Gobber gave him for his birthday.

Astrid comfort him when he felt sad from hearing the comments.

Hiccup didn't understand why villagers suddenly treated him differently than two years ago.

Ingrid, Alistair, Astrid, Gobber and Gothi still treated him the same as when he was born.

Stoick thought he was acting the same, but a little different when they had dragon raids.

After the raid, he would ask if some dragons did some awesome defensive move or would run out of the house to catch a dragon fight and would make a noise that got the dragon's attention and have a stare down like Hiccup grew curious about the dragon and the dragon did the same about Hiccup.
