Gon was broken, his eyes distant and hollow. Yet despite his sorry appearance, there was still a deathly calm radiating around him. His vision soared past Pitou and was focused solely on Kite's crumpled, dead body. His mentor's head rolled ungracefully across the ground.

...Why?

Why was this happening? Why did this happen to Kite!?

...

Why wasn't it him?

If he had avoided Killua's attempt to knock him unconscious, if he pushed Kite out of the way and saved his mentor's arm...if he had done any of those things, would Kite still be alive?

The boy was confused by this new emotion flowing through his naive mind, the feeling of raw, unadulterated despair. The man who had essentially been a father figure to him for the majority of his life was gone, just like that, and it hurt like nothing ever had before.

Gon thought back to the many times he'd jokingly said that Kite should date his auntie Mito. Those scenarios he dreamed about fondly went from unlikely to an impossibility in a mere few breaths.

He cried out a few more words, each more desperate than the last.

"Then you really aren't...going to heal Kite?"

But he knew the answer already. Kite's body was laying flat on the ground and the cause of his death stood right there next to him.

He should have never trusted her.

Gon gritted his teeth in anger. Even now, she was trying to deceive him with those apologetic eyes.

Unbeknownst to the young boy, Neferpitou was actually sorry.

She had long developed a sense of empathy through observing the many interactions between Komugi and her King. With that, she could understand his pain...but she had no choice here. There was only one correct course of action. With Komugi at the brink of death, Pitou had to do whatever it took to save her.

Her King would no longer be able to experience happiness if the woman passed away - Pitou could feel it at her core. She could not and would not fail her King, no matter the cost.

With the near-loss of somebody so crucial to her, she erratically developed human emotions - perhaps this was an unexpected adaptation caused by her Chimera Ant nature.

Even still, her loyalty much surpassed her pity and sympathy for the boy. This was the first time she even marginally regretted being a Royal Guard, but her duty was more important than personal feelings.

The humanoid cat reluctantly looked for an opportune time to attack the boy and finish him off. As she considered her options calculatively, a visible aura suddenly radiated around Gon and gusts of wind manifested around him, blowing through the room fiercely to match the sheer pressure of his quickly-growing bloodlust.

'What…what is this?'

Pitou saw a foggy dark aura spiraling from Gon. As a few tendrils breezed past her face, she reeled back in terror. Unable to withstand the pressure radiating from the boy, she started kneeling slightly.

"I don't care if this is the end…"

Gon had openly acknowledged that he was using his life force to enhance his strength. Dark Nen started covering his figure, blocking Pitou's view of him. His body forcefully grew and no longer looked like that of a child's. The short and slim boy engulfed in aura was replaced by a fully-grown man with long, flowing hair. The most noticeable change was his muscular and condensed body that boasted of strength and vigor.

"I'll use everything…"

It was a small whisper from Gon. If not for Pitou's incredible hearing, she wouldn't have even heard him say anything at all.

After the Dark Nen vanished, Pitou saw an entirely different person. A man that shared only slight features of the boy. That was when the Chimera Ant realized the intentions of the person in front of her. He didn't care about himself anymore - all he wanted to do now was kill her.

Neferpitou identified him as somebody equal in strength to Meruem. The mere thought of that left a primitive fear inside of her. Her body was telling her to run and the only thing that kept her from obeying her instincts was her overwhelming loyalty to her King.

He was a real threat now - one that couldn't be left alone.

"I'll kill you."

Gon's voice had not been particularly loud but it still boomed with authority. It told her that she was facing an apex predator. Somebody who could kill her before she could even blink.

Pitou's eyes widened in fear at the monstrosity in front of her. She wasted no time preparing herself for even the faintest attempt at surviving this one-sided massacre.

'Terpsichora!'

Using a mental cue to trigger her Nen, a monstrous ballerina manifested itself behind her. Strings made of aura extended from the puppet's fingers towards Pitou's body, linking the humanoid cat to her nightmarish creation.

"Exceed your limits, and dance!"

With the help of her puppet, she was able to force aura into her muscles and through her blood, evoking a degree of strength that she normally could not consciously control. She readied her claws and, soon after, unleashed a savage lunge through the air, her body following quickly behind. Moments before she was about to hit Gon, he vanished; only traces of black-swirling Nen remained where he once stood.

'It can't be!'

She charged through the corridors in front of her, the only exit in the room. She jumped off the walls to gain speed before thinking, 'Is he heading for the King?'

Panic worked its way into her body.

At the end of the corridor, she saw him. She slid across the floor and, with the friction, was able to stop herself in front of him.

Gon looked at his hand then quickly glanced over the rest of his body to see the noticeable change in his physique before finally acknowledging Pitou's presence.

"Come. I don't want to destroy this place."

Pitou could only stand in shock at his aura, breaking out in a cold sweat as the pressure overwhelmed her.

"Follow me."

Pitou could only nod at his command, not daring to disobey in hopes of prolonging her life ever so slightly. Gon had started slowly walking out of the building.

Pitou followed suit.

'I don't know how he's done it, but he's somehow forced his body to mature past its natural age. With the amount of aura I can feel pouring off of him, he could probably beat me now.'

The wind breezing past her only complimented the tension she felt. His back was turned towards her, a perfect opportunity to strike. Pitou lept towards him with her claws ready to penetrate him yet again.

Gon dodged to the side and stared down at her before kicking upwards and burying his foot into Pitou's stomach. She retched in pain as she felt pressure crushing her stomach before being propelled upwards from the force of the kick.

Pitou could feel the wind going against her back. She soon felt an unnatural amount of aura gathering around Gon's fists. Realization quickly struck the Chimera Ant.

In fear, she tried to move through the air in hopes to avoid her imminent demise. What Pitou soon found out was that her body was refusing to obey her.

Gon firmly planted his feet into the earth to ground himself.

"First comes rock…"

Gon's muscles bulged as veins started becoming visible all around his body and a sphere of orange Nen covered his right fist. He cocked his arm back as if winding a clock, waiting for Pitou to fall from the sky.

"Rock."

Pitou had started descending, reaching maximum fall velocity.

"Paper."

It would only be a few seconds before she would fall back to land.

"Rock."

With tremendous force, Gon's fists shot forward like a shooting star and all of the momentum built from his arcing swing thundered towards Pitou's skull.

The impact knocked Pitou into the forest and through a dozen trees, accompanied by a loud crunching sound; her chitin-like body was unable to fully absorb the force released from Gon's powerful attack.

Pitou felt a sense of relief.

'This power could only be achieved through the sacrifice of his life energy. He's prepared to never use Nen again.'

She crashed into a giant rock, breaking it on impact and carving a crater into the ground with her body from the built-up kinetic energy.

'That was the resolve required to perform this feat,'

A final crash sounded out through the clearing, her body finally stopping after hitting a giant cedar tree. The sudden explosive force from the collision caused dust and detritus to rise up from the ground, forming a large, ominous cloud in the sky.

'This boy was born with immense talent...and he's now burned all of it away in exchange for this power, just to deal with me… A worthy trade...for my liege.'

Pitou could no longer think as she faded into unconsciousness. She was happy to know that she was the one he would kill instead of her King.

'I'll kill her… '-Gon lowered his eyes from the dust cloud in the sky- "for you, Kite…'

He started slowly walking through the path of broken trees, towards the unconscious Chimera Ant.

Killua heard a sudden explosion from the forest. He instinctively turned his head towards where the sound originated from.

A large visible orange light could be seen within the trees.

He already knew that Pitou and Gon were fighting but he didn't know who was generating that much Nen. The assassin rushed towards the forest in worry for his friend.

Killua saw a silhouette that no longer looked like the Gon he knew, The was swinging his fist downwards towards Pitou, who was motionless and bloodied from countless prior punches. He kept attacking downward toward the skull of the already-broken Royal Guard.

"Rock."

"Paper."

"Scissor."

For the final, skull-shattering blow, Gon jabbed both of his fingers into Pitou's eyes and pierced through into her brain, ending her life once and for all.

"I finished the job the way you taught me to," Gon said to Killua.

Gon's fists were covered in copious amounts of blue blood, some of it having sprayed onto his legs.

Afraid of the answer, Killua asked, "Gon, is that you?"

"Killua…" Gon said with tears dripping down his broken eyes.

Having seen Gon's appearance, Killua immediately thought of Bisky. But he realized the difference.

'Bisky's appearance changed, but there wasn't a massive increase in the aura contained within her. She was merely reverting to her original form.'

'Gon's done the complete opposite!'

Killua took a thorough look at Gon. How many years had he gained? More than ten? Decades? This would have been the result of years of endless training.

Killua could only speculate on the high price Gon had likely paid for this unnatural boost in power.

Gon looked at his hands yet again, eyeing the blood splattered all over.

Neither of the young boys realized that Neferpitou had risen once again through the usage of her puppet, Terpischora.

By the time Killua saw her, it was already too late. Gon was still frozen from shock as Pitou lunged towards him with her claws out.

'No!' Killua thought before darting towards Gon.

He just barely managed to push him out of the way. Pitou was only able to take Gon's arm instead of his life.

It turned out that Pitou's devotion to the King was so great that, even after death, she would still try to complete her duties. Terpischora clad itself in even more powerful Nen, transforming Pitou into a savage corpse puppet that was willing to do anything to take the life of their enemy.

In that fraction of a second, Gon spoke.

"It's okay. I'm kind of happy...that I get to be the same as Kite."

"Gon…are you ok?" Killua said, concerned about the damage that Gon might have suffered both mentally and physically.

"I feel like...I've been redeemed some," Gon said, before turning around to punch Pitou in the face.

Gon leapt upwards and let out an animalistic scream as he grabbed his severed arm and pivoted it towards the Royal Guard. With a thunderous crash, Gon landed and pierced his severed limb straight through Pitou's torso, pinning her to the ground.

'You can have my right arm,' Gon thought before readying himself to finish Pitou once and for all.

"First comes rock…"

A ball of aura started charging in front of Gon's stump of an arm.

"Don't do it Gon!"

Killua was concerned about his friend. Gon had used too much Nen and he could tell that Gon was going to collapse soon.

"It's time for you to sleep, too," Gon whispered.

Pitou's body was struggling and writhing around, trying its hardest to get up from the ground. It was no use however, as Gon's arm was firmly trapping her in place.

"Stop… You can't! If you keep using this power, what will happen to you?"

Killua could only watch Gon as he prepared for his final attack. There was nothing the white-haired boy could do to stop his friend at this point - he could see the unyielding conviction in his eyes. The energy Gon planned on expending on this final attack would likely cripple him even more severely than he already was.

It might even be enough to end Gon's life.

"Paper."

The ball of aura in front of Gon's stump grew ever larger, it was now much bigger than his own body.

"Rock."

The aura surrounded Gon and Neferpitou. He looked at Killua one last time. The aura finally lost stability and produced a devastating explosion that covered both Gon and Pitou. Killua leapt backwards to escape the radius and waited for the dust to settle.

When the air cleared and he could finally approach, Killua spotted Gon's unconscious body lying in a crater. He had finally shrunk back down into the form that he was familiar with, though his hair remained as strangely long as it had been during Gon's transformation.

Surprisingly enough, he could still see pieces of Neferpitou's corpse scattered around the area. With the amount of force that Gon put out, the assassin would've expected not much more than specks of ash remaining in the aftermath.

With a heavy sigh, he dragged his friend's limp body onto his shoulder and slowly walked away from the ruined forest. He glanced back slowly, his ears twitching as if hearing remnant whispers in the wind. He waited silently for a moment, but nothing changed as far as he could tell.

It was a shame. Maybe in another life, they could have been friends with Pitou and the Chimera Ants. He didn't even get a chance to fight the cat-like Royal Guard himself. With those peculiar musings in mind, he continued dragging Gon out of the forest and out in search of the other Hunters.

The conflict would probably only get more intense from here…

Simple Q&A to explain some details.

Q: How did you come up with the title?

A: Neferpitou's name is half based on the god, Nefertem. Nefertem himself was born from an Egyptian blue water-lily known as the Nymphaea Caerulea. I used this title as a way to say that Neferpitou would be born again/given a second chance. Also because the name sounded cool.

Q: Is Neferpitou going to act like an OC?

A: No, I'll try my best to make her personality identical to the one in the anime. Dedicated and loyal to people she serves but unless given a reason to, she would never obey somebody who isn't allied with Komugi. Character development is going to change her drastically, however. She changed from a sadistic and playful murderer to a caring mother who's willing to sacrifice her life for Komugi in the span of a week. Think about what'd change when given more time.

Q: What gender is Pitou?

A: She's going to be a female in my fanfiction. That's just my personal preference. Feel free to think she's a guy or genderless.

Q: How strong is Pitou?

A: She'll be as strong as she was during the canon. Main changes are probably going to be mental and emotional, she most likely won't get that much stronger in my fanfic. I'll just give a short summary of her strength, feel free to skip this if you're not interested. She's able to see people from two kilometers away, that's probably not her maximum view distance either. She was able to hear a cell phone ring on low volume inside an echoing castle. She's able to decipher the smell of a human that was hiding in a massive pile of bones. She's physically strong enough to rip off the limbs of an experienced Nen-user without any effort while only using one arm. Neferpitou was said to be able to decapitate the main character, even with a broken arm. She was able to perceive movements at speed of at least Mach 1. The terrifying cat has never slept since her birth and was able to keep her En active during that period. She was able to tank dozens of attacks from the main character who was on steroids, just the air force from the punch alone could break multiple trees. Moments after her birth, Neferpitou had already acquired enough knowledge about the human brain to stimulate certain areas in order to receive specific responses, and she later proved capable of severing the neural connections between memories and emotional responses. Her surgical skills allowed her to create her first Nen ability, Doctor Blythe, which can operate on humans and Chimera Ants alike. She also assembled a chemical laboratory in only a few days. Yeah...I don't think I'm gonna need to make her any stronger than she already is.

Q: Can I have a brief overview of Pitou's Nen abilities? Forgot most of them.

A: Sure. Pitou in canon can summon two puppets, Doctor Blythe which is a medical puppet used to help Pitou perform surgery on people. Using this leaves her defenseless/without aura. Her second puppet, Terpsichora is a monstrous ballerina that can somehow make Pitou physically stronger. It's probably done through forcefully pumping more Nen into herself, using the puppet as a medium. Pitou can use puppetry on dead bodies and unconscious people, letting her control them. I probably won't be giving her new abilities anytime soon.

Q: Will people in RWBY be able to learn Nen techniques?

A: Yes.
