Well, I kinda forgot to update last week. That ones on me. Don't even have an excuse for it. I was home pretty much all day. Whoops. Anyway, now that the new trailer's out, I'm kinda screwed. I was hoping for more story elements and game mechanics, and maybe some underground areas, but this just completely threw me off. I have no idea how I'm going to incorporate the fucking floating islands into my story. I still have a while until I'll actually get to where I'll need to put them in, so I'm gonna have to do a lot of brainstorming. As of now, I am of the belief that it's Skyloft and current era hero. Unless it gets confirmed otherwise, that's how I'm going to write it as. But again, I have at least another five chapters to write before I actually get into sequel territory.

Chapter Fifteen:

"Ok, I get how she got here before me, but how on earth did you get here so soon?" Ganondorf asked, staring incredulously at Link.

"I have no idea," Zelda chimed in. "He was here when I got here."

Link looked back and forth between the two of them and shrugged. Zelda chuckled. "You never cease to amaze me, Link."

Ganondorf stared at his sister. Half sister, technically. But still. The same blood flowed through their veins. She was his kin, although she didn't know it. And neither did he, until recently.

Sister. Ganondorf couldn't shake the word from his mind. It clung to him, like sand stuck to his sweaty skin. Ever since his mother told Ganondorf that his father was the previous King of Hyrule, that's all Ganondorf could think about. Princess Zelda, heir apparent to the entire kingdom of Hyrule, was his sister.

A mechanical bird cry brought Ganondorf back from his thoughts. The trio looked up to see Vah Medoh circling high above them. Ganondorf could feel the robotic eyes on him, boring down from high above.

"I was able to speak with the Rito elder briefly," Zelda informed Ganondorf, still looking up at the sky. "Most of the Rito were able to flee into the Hebra mountains. But they suffered significantly more losses than the other races of Hyrule. They rely on their ability to fly to escape from most enemies, but since Medoh dominates the airspace, it was easily able to slaughter a portion of the Rito. Most were able to reach a safe haven in time, but many were lost."

Link stepped forward and put a comforting hand on her shoulder. Zelda smiled grimly at him before looking back up at the sky. "I'm not sure how we can put up there, however. Medoh has a shield of Sheikah energy, and I'm not sure if it will interfere with my teleportation, and I'd rather not risk it."

"Does the force field have any weak spots? Anything that could be taken down from the outside?" Ganondorf asked.

"It has four shield generators on the outside of the shield," Zelda informed him. "But you'd have to get close enough to target them. Perhaps we can ask a Rito warrior to fly us up there?"

"No need," Ganondorf said, stepping forward. "I can destroy them."

Ganondorf raised his hands and closed his eyes, focusing. Instantly winds kicked up, whipping by his face. Within a minute, dark storm clouds had gathered, looming ominously over the region. Rain began falling from the sky, and lightning cackled overhead. The rain poured even harder, slamming into the earth with a vengeance. The storm continued growing, pieces of hail starting to fall. Lightning slammed into the earth, thunder booming in the distance.

Ganondorf opened his eyes and stared at the titanic bird. The mechanical monstrosity flew high overhead, well out of reach for any of their attacks. But it would not survive the wrath of the storm.

Lightning smashed into the Divine Beast's protective barrier, dissipating off. Ganondorf growled in frustration. Another bolt of lightning struck the enormous machine. This time, the bird cawed in annoyance, turning its gaze to the ground, scanning for the source of the lightning. Ganondorf paid it no mind. Bolt after bolt of lightning slammed into the shield of the Divine Beast. None did any damage, much to Ganondorf's irritation. Finally, Ganondorf spotted an anomaly. A piece of Sheikah technology floating alongside the Divine Beast. The odd contraption seemed armed with a cannon, and was the only piece of Sheikah tech not inside the barrier. Finally, a better target.

Two lightning bolts slammed into the generator in quick succession, destroying it completely. Medoh groaned in surprise and redoubled its search for its assailants. Ganondorf searched the outer edges of the barrier for more of these devices. Ganondorf found another and blew it to pieces.

"Ganondorf! Look out!"

Something knocked him to the ground an instant before a laser slammed into the spot where he had been standing. Ganondorf grimaced and guarded his eyes from a bright light that suddenly appeared in front of him. Another laser exploded nearby, sending dirt flying.

A hand appeared in Ganondorf's line of vision. Blinking his confusion away, Ganondorf grabbed it and it pulled him up. Ganondorf nodded his thanks to the Hylian knight and turned his attention back towards the Divine Beast. The metal bird was boring down on them, purple eyes focused on the trio.

"Anytime you can get that shield down, Ganondorf," Zelda grunted, holding her arms out to protect against the onslaught of lasers raining down on them. Ganondorf raised his arms again, calling to the storm. Lightning flared behind him, before the storm's wrath turned back onto the Divine Beast. Ganondorf destroyed a third turret with his lightning and began searching for the last one.

The great bird roared and ascended into the sky with a mighty flap of its wings. The gust of wind knocked all three of them back, wrecking Ganondorf's concentration and Zelda's grip on the shield.

Link was the first to recover, back on his feet in an instant. It was a good thing he was, too, since he deflected three Sheikah lasers with his sword that would have turned the three of them ash. Medoh roared in frustration and climbed higher, trying to break through the cloud layer where even Ganondorf's lightning couldn't reach it.

Ganondorf clambered to his feet with a growl. This thing was getting on his nerves. Whipping his hand out with a snarl, Ganondorf summoned as much lightning as he could. Seven consecutive bolts of lightning smashed into the enormous bird, three of them hitting the last shield generator. With a cry, Medoh leveled out as the shield around it disappeared.

"Excellent work, Ganondorf! That was most impressive," Zelda remarked. Link said nothing, but glanced at him with a look of admiration.

"My mother taught me well," Ganondorf said simply. Ganondorf smiled internally when he saw Zelda cringe slightly. No, he hadn't forgotten whose fault all this was. Sister or no, her newfound powers did not excuse her failure.

"Now that the shield's down, I can teleport us inside," Zelda said, light circling around them. The increasingly familiar sensation of weightlessness enveloped them, and suddenly they were standing atop the Divine Beast.

Well, isn't it nice that you finally showed up, an annoyingly arrogant voice spoke.

"Revali, always a pleasure," Zelda drawled. "Look, I'd love to stay and chat, but we're here to free Medoh from Gan-the Calamity's control. Any help you can give us would be much appreciated."

Don't you get snarky with me, Princess, Revali snarled. You don't get to joke. Not when this is your fault. My Divine Beast was turned against my own people and where were you, Princess?

"The other Divine Beasts were acting up as well, there's only three of us, and none of us could reach Medoh on our own," Zelda tried to explain.

The delusional hero and the idiotic Gerudo, yes quite the team you put together. Replacing us so soon? Not surprising, since you left us all to die anyway, Revali snapped.

"I didn't leave you to die! There was nothing I could do!" Zelda yelled, tears brimming in her eyes.

Seems to me there was plenty you could have done, if you weren't such a failure, Revali observed.

"Ok, that's enough," Ganondorf interjected. "Either help us get control of Medoh or shut the hell up and let us do our job."

Not a bad bark, but that's all I think you are, the Princess' little lapdog, Revali sneered.

"I am no one's pet," Ganondorf growled.

Why don't you go sit. The real heroes have something important to discuss, Revali said.

"That is enough!" Zelda shouted. "We are taking Medoh back whether you help us or not. If you don't want to help us, that's fine by me, but for the love of Hylia, fuck off."

There was a moment of silence. Ganondorf stared at his sister with new respect. Little girl's got some spunk after all.

Fine. The Guidance Stone is below you, in Medoh's head. If you want to get inside, you'll have to get underneath Medoh. I do hope you all can fly. With those words of encouragement, the Rito warrior finally went silent.

The trio looked at one another. After a moment of awkward silence, Zelda spoke up. "Well, I can fly. And Link's got his paraglider. How about you Ganondorf? Can you make a cyclone that you can ride on, perhaps?"

"In theory, yes, but I've never done it before," Ganondorf admitted. "In all likelihood, I'd just fall and make a nice snack for the crows. Or the Rito, if they like splattered Gerudo."

Zelda gulped. "Alright, maybe you should just stay up here then? I'm sure Link and I can handle whatever Medoh's got in store for us."

"Stay up here? While you two have all the fun? No way. Maybe one of you-" Ganondorf stopped short before suggesting that one of them carry him. No way in hell would he be caught piggybacking off his sister or her boyfriend. "Yeah, maybe you two should go in without me."

"Alright then. Come on Link, let's go," Zelda said, floating up and away. Link ran over to the edge and leaped off. Ganondorf growled, muttering incoherently to himself. He paced a few times before finding a spot to sit down. Well fine. They could go on without him. Let those two do all the hard work. He'd just sit here and relax a bit. No need to get involved if they were just going to take care of it.

Ganondorf sighed. What was taking them so long?

Zelda stepped down onto Medoh's bottom level and Link landed beside her. Chunks of Malice blocked the entrance to the Divine Beast. With a wave of her hand and a flash of light, it was gone.

Zelda was about to go in when Link stopped her. "What is it?"

Link, of course, didn't reply, only unsheathing his sword. Blue flames ignited along the side of it. Zelda gasped. That was new.

Link whirled and slashed his sword, sending a ball of flame flying into the sky. It flew the entirety of the wing and landed on a terminal on the underside of it. Zelda hadn't even noticed it, but the unmistakable blue flare showed her exactly where it was.

"Wow, Link. That was incredible. No wonder you got here before us. Rudania must have been a breeze for you."

Link grimaced, tilting his hand back and forth. Zelda laughed. "You're too modest. I thought you had to access the Guidance Stone before activating the terminals. But, once again, you prove me wrong. You never cease to amaze me."

Link blushed and smiled, turning away from her. Goddess', he had such a cute smile. She loved it when he let his guard down. He was always so pent up around others. So focused and reserved. His other side only came out when they were alone together. Everyone knew he was courageous, honorable and loyal. But only she knew he was also playful, kind, observant, clever and troubled.

Link raised an eyebrow, breaking her out of her reprieve. "Ah-he-hEM. Oh, sorry. Yes, let's go."

Zelda walked into the lowest chamber of the flying Divine Beast. It had Sheikah made structures that reminded Zelda of ribs stapled across the floor, with a glass barrier separating them from the air below. Above them were large platforms made from metal and Sheikah material connected to rods that slide back and forth across the Divine Beast. Link immediately crossed to the other side of the room and flicked a ball of Sheikah flame through the air. I passed through metal bars and hit another terminal, activating it. Link turned to her with a grin, holding up two fingers.

"Oh, so it's a race then? I bet I can get the last three before you can," Zelda said, flying up. She set the Sheikah Slate in the Guidance Stone and activated it, downloading the blueprints of the Divine Beast. Once she had them, Zelda looked left and right. Without thinking, Zelda flew to the right. Inside the wing, there was a series of contraptions including a window, fans, gates, and other things Zelda ignored. The terminal was behind a gate. Zelda just reached out her hand and grabbed the metal rods with her mind and wrenched them free. The sound of metal grinding and ripping echoed throughout the Divine Beast. Zelda went over to the terminal as Revali shouted Careful! This is a very delicate machine. Zelda pressed her Sheikah Slate to the terminal, turning it blue. Zelda smirked and turned, flying to the other wing.

When she got there, Link was just standing there, leaning against a wall, wiping the flat of his blade with his bare hand. He looked up at her with a bored expression when she entered.

"Ha! I've already got one. What are you waiting for, where are the last two?" Zelda asked, looking around. Link just grinned and held up four fingers.

Zelda gasped in astonishment. "No way. That's impossible!"

She pulled out her Sheikah Slate and checked the map. It was true, all the terminals had been activated. The only thing left was the main control unit.

"Well," Zelda said sneakily. "I got the Guidance Stone, and that counts for about three terminals."

Ignoring how he guffawed at her with a mocking look of reproach Zelda continued. "Since we're both even, that means whoever gets to the main control unit first wins."

Zelda looked back down at Link, but he was no longer there. Zelda whipped around, spotting him racing towards the exit. "Hey! Get back here! I haven't said go yet!"

Ganondorf was leaning against a pillar of rock, sitting peacefully, when all of a sudden, a body fell out of the sky in front of him and landed on the deck of Medoh. Before Ganondorf could even react, the person was rolling to their feet and dashing for the main control unit. A golden ray of light rocketed by a second later, also racing for the device. Ganondorf leapt to his feet and summoned his trident, following closely behind them.

Link unsheathed his sword, blue flames flickering to life a few steps away from the main control unit. The ball of light descended on the device as well, quickly catching up to the Hylian voe. Both seemed to reach the control unit at the same time, simultaneous flares of blue light shining from the machine.

Zelda emerged from the ball of golden light as Malice erupted from the control unit. Ganondorf reached the duo a moment later, watching Sheikah technology form on the flying monstrosity.

Zelda smirked at Link. "Well, it seems that the Princess once again outperforms the knight."

Link looked at her in disdain, mock shock on his face. He raised his hand dramatically to his chest, conveying his offense at the comment.

"Don't be too sore a loser, it takes true talent to compare to the likes of me," Zelda said, flipping her hair over her shoulder.

"I hate to interrupt, but we do have an issue," Ganondorf interjected before Link could retort.

Zelda just winked at him. "You boys try and keep up."

Then Zelda rocketed towards the flying creature, Link charging after her. Ganondorf just shook his head before joining them. "I can't believe she's my sister."

The battle was over practically before it began. Zelda outmaneuvered the flying blight, firing orbs and beams of golden light at it. The monster tried to retaliate, but Zelda was far too nimble for it. Every Guardian blast was expertly dodged, each tornado avoided. And while Zelda was keeping its attention in the sky, Link raced below it, firing beams of blue energy from his sword. The monster didn't fare well, being attacked on multiple fronts. It changed into a ball of Sheikah energy and whisked itself away, remerging to try again.

But it never got the chance.

Ganondorf was on it in an instant, lunging up and piercing it's back with his trident. Ganondorf's momentum carried him up and over the beast, until he fell, still holding his trident. With a savage roar, Ganondorf hurled the monster over him. It hurtled towards the ground, tumbling from the surprise attack. Link didn't waste his opportunity, slashing his blade through the midsection of the purple monster as it flew over his head, cleaving the monster almost in half. As it rolled to a stop, it was carpet bombed by balls of light, each echoing an explosion. After a moment, Zelda stopped her barrage.

As the cloud of dust settled, the trio saw the monster rise again. Each readied their own fighting stance as the monster threw back its head and screamed. Four, ovular things broke off from the blight's body and began floating in the sky. Ganondorf eyed them warily, but returned his attention to the main monster when it raised its Guardian style cannon. But instead of aiming at one of them, the blight fired four blasts towards the flying bits of Sheikah tech. Each time a blast connected to one, it multiplied. In less than a few seconds, dozens of Sheikah blasts shot towards the team.

"Take cover!" Ganondorf yelled, lunging to the side. He heard Zelda yelp in surprise and saw a flash of light, indicating she had created a shield around herself. Ganondorf rolled away from the sudden onslaught, trying his best to avoid the blasts. But ultimately, the rain of energy was too much, and two blasts caught him in the chest and sent him flying across the top of the ship.

Zelda saw him go down. In that moment, her concentration dwindled and she cried out, "Ganondorf!"

The blight took advantage of her weakness to fly in and backhand her, smashing through her weakened shield and sending her into a stone pillar. Zelda groaned in pain, barely registering the fact that the blight was raising its Sheikah embedded arm to finish her off.

Link did not miss this. With an uncharacteristic snarl, Link bent time to a crawl as he rushed forward. The blight couldn't react as Link pounced, driving his sword through the upright arm of the monster, slicing through wiring and machinery, completely nullifying the weapon. Link pulled his weapon out and kicked off the arm, landing softly on his feet. With time still flowing on a fraction of what it should, Link carved gauged into the front of the monster, cutting deeply into the defenseless blight. With a final thrust, Link let time resume its normal speed.

The monster rocketed off, smashing through a stone pillar and tumbling off the side of the Divine Beast. Link waited a moment before turning to his Princess. She was still groggy, but was trying to climb to her feet. Link smiled, and offered her his hand. She looked up at him, still dazed. She smiled back at him though, and Link's heart just about burst. She accepted his hand and he pulled her to her feet.

Ganondorf groaned, rising to his feet not a moment after Zelda did. He looked around for his enemy, but couldn't find it. Ganondorf met up with the other two, the Princess leaning against Link a little. "Is it over?" Ganondorf asked.

A high pitched screech gave him his answer. Ganondorf sighed as he turned around, facing the enormous blight on the far side of the flying machine. "Guess not."

The monster whipped out its remaining hand, sending two tornadoes at them. Zelda threw herself and Link into the air along in a flash of light. One tornado followed them, while the other converged on him.

Instead of running, Ganondorf stood his ground. He could already summon the wind. It was high time he learned to master it.

Planting his feet firmly against the ground, Ganondorf reached out with his hands, commanding the wind to slow. The tornado did not listen. Ganondorf growled, focusing his magic to turn the wind in the opposite direction, but the tornado did not disappear. It only grew closer, tumultuous winds howling in his ear. The winds threatened to drag him off his feet, ripping him from the ground and tossing him into a freefall.

And that's when it clicked. Each magic had a kind of philosophy to it. When he was first learning to use each kind of magic, he had needed a certain emotion to kickstart them. Fire played on his desire, passion, or rage. Lightning used his excitement, will or even some more primal aspects of himself that he wasn't sure how to explain. Ice was a calm element, formed by focus and meditation. If this was true, then what was wind's emotion?

While the tornado seemed to suggest fury, Ganondorf guessed otherwise. In his readings, Ganondorf had noticed that air was most often called the element of freedom by the monks of the Nuun Highlands in Labrynna. Perhaps that was the key to this element.

Loosing a breath, Ganondorf let his thoughts flow through his mind. Ganondorf felt the air flowing around him, the breath leaving his body, and the wind circling in the tornado. Ganondorf grinned. With a quick wave of his hand, the tornado that was boring down on him changed direction, turning back on the monster that spawned it.

Said monster roared in frustration, firing a few Sheikah energy bolts into it. When those failed, it flew into the air, trying to rise above the tornado. With a grin, Ganondorf pulled his hands apart. The tornado responded by growing larger, engulfing the blight. Ganondorf laughed as he watched the monster be tossed around by the cyclone. Ganondorf approached it, unconcerned by the tornado or the monster within it. He walked straight through it, unaffected by the powerful winds buffeting his body. Ganondorf smirked and snapped his fingers, evaporating the tornado. The blight was launched across the ship, and Ganondorf sighed in annoyance, since he needed to walk all the way across the ship to get back to his opponent now.

Fortunately, Zelda made that unnecessary. In a brilliant flash of light, the Sheikah infected Malice monster was destroyed.

"Well, that certainly took you long enough, didn't it?" An exceedingly arrogant voice asked.

"Hello Revali," Zelda greeted, not seeming entirely happy about seeing this particular Champion.

"I'm surprised you managed it at all. After all, it killed me. Since it was capable of such a feat, you are truly lucky to escape with your lives," Revali gloated.

"Oh shut up. You're just jealous cause we actually survived this," Ganondorf said, coming to stand beside the other two living beings.

Revali sneered at him. "You're not even worthy of being a Champion. You shouldn't even be here."

"Well someone needed to do it, and since you were too busy failing, I guess I decided to give it a shot," Ganondorf said. "Besides, it wasn't all that hard. Really, I think you could get anyone to pilot one of these, if all you need to do is beat that thing."

Revali sputtered, trying to come up with a suitable response, but Zelda spoke up before he could. "As I said, it's always a pleasure to see you Revali. But we do have more pressing matters to attend to, so we should be going."

Revali glared at the Princess. "Don't think I've forgotten about your failures. You owe me blood."

Zelda did not reply. She just raised her hand, light billowing out, coating the three figures. When it faded, they were gone.
