If someone asks you "Can you forgive the person who murdered your family?" Not a lot of people can answer with a 'Yes' that easily. But what if the other person did not do it out of his own free will? Could you still forgive the person that had changed your life forever?
This was the situation that Agent Maria Hill was contemplating. When they had finally subdued the infamous Trickster, she thought all they had left was to detain Loki and the rest will just follow. When was life ever that easy? The Fates don't like to leave demigods to have a normal life, especially if that demigod is Perseus Jackson-Fury.
"- I have told you many times son of Fury. My brother is innocent! Do you not see how his eyes are not the same colour?" Thor slammed his hands on the table his eyes full of determination and the air felt… sparky for lack of proper description.
Tony who was leaning back against the chair- that Fury usually sat- in an almost bored manner sat upright suddenly startling Bruce who was looking serious.
"Your brother, who killed 80 people in one day-
"-two days-"
"TWO days! The same person who opened the portal to the Chitauri which lead the deaths of hundreds of innocent citizens!?"
The room had gotten quiet, not even Steve who always believes in the best in people opened his mouth to defend Loki. All the deaths and the battle against were too recent, the wounds of the heart had not enough time to heal before they had discovered that Loki may be innocent.
"… But he- my brother was being controlled, surely you understand that?"
Percy let out a long and deliberately loud sigh. "I do Thor. I do."
"What?" Tony inquired "You can't just let him go!"
Percy looked intensely at Tony, who grimaced and sat down, and Thor looked glad but did not dare to thank the demigod just yet.
"I know what being controlled against your will is. I also saw it myself." Including Steve, most of the people in the room looked confused.
"Once my friend was being controlled against his will, and well in simple terms he attacked some of my friends- well then sorta friends?"
Thor perked up "Son of Fury. Then you must agree that my brother is innocent?"
Percy motioned his hand "Let me finish Thor. Like Loki, the action led to a three-way war until we finally figured out that we had the same enemy. He- we paid for him being controlled with death, war, and hate. Loki was controlled I don't think his eye changing is a common thing in Asgard." Thor nodded
Percy looked at each Avenger in the eye "We can't deny the facts, Clint do you think that you can forgive Loki?"
Thor opened his eyes at the realization the archer was here and what he went through. Steve and Bruce glanced at each other.
Barton was calmly cleaning his weapons but at Percy's question, he froze. An intense moment later a hard and anger filled but quiet "No"
Percy nodded "I get that, even if controlled it does not change the fact that the deaths happened"
Natasha warned Percy "Don't blame Clint for what he had no control over Jackson." She said menacingly
"I am not blaming him, Natasha. What I meant was that when Leo was controlled, I believe he paid with his life for his action." Percy's eyes darkened.
"Clint is paying for his actions by blaming himself and he will continue to try and redeem himself in his own way" Clint nodded his hands gripped tight on his bow. "I think. I think that Loki is innocent, but he still needs to pay for his actions. No matter if he was controlled." Percy said, "Does anyone object to my reasoning?"
"No son of Fury… I… understand. You will have made a wise king"
Percy huffed "Better not let the drama queen hear you" and the sky rumbled. Steve looked at Thor but he shook his head.
"Well said, Agent."
"Director Fury sir,
"So the one-eyed pirate shows himself"
"Dad"
Fury stood and stared at Percy. Tony muttered something rude while Steve and Bruce once again realized that Fury has a son and looked sheepish for an odd reason. "As Agent Jackson-Fury has said, Loki will have to pay for his actions on Earth."
But once again Thor argued, saying that since Loki is of Asgard he should return with him to Asgard and face the All-Father- Odin for his crimes. The discussion went on for a long time after that
After the meeting ended, with both party's satisfied Thor was led by Agent Romanoff to see his brother, Director Fury followed suit, just after he finished talking to Percy.
Percy was about to leave when Steve put a hand on his shoulder to stop him. "Uh, Agent Jackson Fury?"
"Yes, Mr. Rogers?" Steve winced "Uh I am sorry for your friend."
"Hmm? For what?"
"Uh, I mean the one that is similar to Barton? I am sorry for his uh death…"
"Oh, that."
Bruce was confused. Percy grimaced at how that may have sounded "Oh no Leo is just fine, he's alive"
"I thought you said he was dead?" Bruce asked, "That he paid for his actions with his life?"
"It's only just a theory… I mean the Fates do like to mess with us, and yes he did. He is alive now though."
"Wait, wait what? Time out explain mini pirate" Tony said, his hands in a 'T' shape
"Mini pirate?- Anyway well he used a potion? The thing is I really don't know the details since I wasn't there myself, but he died but Festus the happy dragon-ship helped with that."
"He died?" (Tony)
"Potions?" (Steve)
"Happy the dragon-ship?" (Bruce)
"Yeah, we are Greek demigods? You didn't know?"
"First Norse now Greek? What next Egyptian?"
"Uh about that- never mind you guys have a lot of clearance now that you are the world-saving Avengers. Did you not read the files we sent you?"
All flabbergasted men turned and yelled at Percy "NO!"
Percy rubbed the back of his neck. "Sorry I guess? Though didn't you say you read the files, Mr. Stark?"
Tony muttered about a Jarvis needing to be scolded as Agent Hill laughed silently in the corner.
