Draco POV

The last few days have passed in a blur of work and handling the kids, Hermione has been working most nights, trying to find a break in the case and wrap it up. I have been as supportive as I can be, helping wherever is necessary and handling all of the household chores so that Hermione can focus on her work. I know that she is upset about the time she has to spend away from us and I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't a little disappointed each time I received an owl saying she would be home late, but I understood. After this case was finished, Hermione and I would need to sit down and have a talk about how things currently stand. We both know that something has to give, but right now is not the time to push it and add to Hermione's stress. We will get through this bump in the road, we always do.

Over the last few days Hermione had been waking up not feeling well, she kept brushing it off and saying that she'd probably just picked up the stomach bug that Ellie had last week, but I wasn't so sure. If that was truly what it was, I would have thought she would have been over it by now. For Ellie it had been a twenty-four hour thing. I made a mental note to see if Hermione would make an appointment with Ginny if she didn't feel better by the end of the week. I think the stress was starting to get to her in more ways than one.

I had just received another owl saying that Hermione was going to miss dinner when I had a great idea, one that would make all of use happy. "Hey, kids, Mummy isn't going to make it home for dinner again, but what do you say we eat here real quick and then head over to the Ministry and bring Mummy some food?" I asks, turning to the kids who were already seated at the kitchen table, ready for food.

"Yes!" Lucas cheers as Ellie nods eagerly, "Let's go see Mummy." With that settled, I prepared the children's plates and getting my own I sat down at the table to enjoy my dinner with the children. As soon as we were finished, the kitchen was cleaned and Hermoine's dinner was packed, I led the kids to the fireplace in the living room, ready to Floo to the Ministry.

"Hold my hands," I said to both kids, extending one hand to each, Hermione's bag of food looped around my arm. The kids took my hands and off we went flashing from our living room to the almost deserted lobby of the Ministry of Magic. It was nearing seven o'clock and most of the typical office workers had gone home to their families for the day. The only exceptions were the few frazzled interns scurrying towards the lifts, arms full with papers.

I led the kids through the familiar building, heading to the Auror's offices, my mind flipping back to times I've made the walk to Hermione's office in the past.

"I can't believe you're here," Hermione laughs as she looks up from her desk as I lock the door behind me. I was on my lunch break at the hospital and needed to see my wife, all morning I'd been unable to keep thoughts of taking her on her desk from my mind. I was here to make those thoughts a reality. At this point we had been married for just over a year and with no other responsibilities than work, Hermione and sex were the only things ever on my mind. The two went hand in hand.

"I missed you," I answer with a shrug as I cross the room in three long strides and meet Hermione where she is standing from her chair. "And I needed you," I murmur, grabbing her by the waist and pulling her close, startling a little yelp from her that I silence with my lips.

"I like the sound of that," Hermione murmurs against my lips as I back her up against the desk and pull her up to sit on it as she wraps her legs around my waist, giving in to me.

Snapping out of the memories of Hermione and I getting down and dirty in her office desk, I follow the kids out of the lift and down the hallway, into the Aurors offices. The kids excitedly rush through the door, almost barreling down someone who is standing right inside.

"Whoa there," Harry says, catching Lucas who has bounced off his legs and holding him steady. "The Malfoy's," Harry says with a smile as he takes the three of us in. "Your Mum will be happy to see you," he smiles, meeting my eyes. "She's in her office", he says to me. "Make sure she takes a break and gets out of here tonight."

"That's the plan," I smile before ushering the kids down the hallway to Hermione's office, as excited as they are to see my wife.

Hermione POV

I was sitting at my desk studying the case files again, wracking my brain for anything that I was missing. We were so close to a major breakthrough and it couldn't come fast enough. I'd just had to send Draco another owl letting him know I wouldn't be hope for dinner again and it had about broke my heart. I vowed to myself that tonight was the last night I would miss dinner. I needed to spend time with my family, they were the most important thing in my life and I knew over the last few weeks I hadn't made nearly enough time for them. I needed to make sure the cake first, no matter what that meant for my job.

On top of being at work nonstop the last few weeks, I hadn't been feeling great either. At first I'd thought I'd picked up Ellie's stomach bug, but by this point I knew I hadn't. After a week of waking up feeling like shit, only to feel better the rest of the day, I had a feeling I knew what was causing the sickness and exhaustion I was feeling and it wasn't a stomach bug or the stress from this case. After all, I'd been through this twice before. Laying a hand over my stomach lovingly, I make a mental note to schedule an appointment with Ginny for confirmation. I would keep this news to myself until I knew for sure, I didn't want to get Draco's hopes up if I was wrong. If I was right, things needed to change drastically.

Sighing and brushing my hair back from my face, I shake those thoughts out of my head. I needed to focus on the case tonight so that I could get home to my family. Voices in the hallway outside my closed door have my ears perking up, I could swear I had just heard kids voices in the hallway, but that couldn't be right. It had to have been Harry and Ron talking about the case, I assure myself. Right as that thought pops into my head there is a knock at my door. "Come in," I call, expecting to see Harry when the door opens.

The door opens inward to reveal, not Harry, but my family. My heart skips a beat and my mood suddenly improves as Ellie and Lucas run into the office and around the desk to hug me. "Hey, kiddos, what are you doing here?" I ask with a smile as I slide off my chair and crouch to hug them both, looking at Draco in question.

"We figured we'd bring you dinner," he answers with a nonchalant shrug, holding up the reusable bag in his hand. "I hope that okay," he adds, but I know it's just to be polite. Draco knows what I need before I even do half the time, this is definitely one of those times. This is exactly what I need right now.

"Yeah, Mummy, we wanted to see you," Lucas says in that matter of fact way of little kids as he holds my hand.

"I'm glad, seeing you guys is exactly what I need right now," I smile, ruffling his blonde hair.

"So, what do you we have for dinner?" I ask, gesturing to the bag Draco is holding as I realize just how hungry I am. Draco unload the spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread he had made and I sit down and dig in, asking the kids about their day and enjoying this time with my family.

All too soon my food is gone and I know Draco and the kids will be leaving soon, I don't want them to. "Are you going to be home to tuck us in?" Ellie asks, her brown eyes meeting mine, her face so innocent.

Making the decision I've been mulling over for the last half hour, I nod and say, "Yes, I'm coming home with you, just give me a few minutes to pack up some files. I'll work from home a little after you two go to bed." As I say the words, I know this is exactly what I need. I can get some more work accomplished at home and still get my family time in.

Without a word, Draco grabs my hand in his and squeezes, conveying just how grateful he is at my decision. I send him a smile and he smiles back before standing and saying, "Come on, kids. Let's give Mummy a few minutes to get picked up." The kids bounce off after Draco and I quickly gather my files before following him, glad they'd stopped by tonight and made me realize just home much I needed to be home.

Draco POV

I had been so happy when Hermione had said she was coming home with us, I knew it was exactly what she needs and what we needed as a family. Maybe we were on the same wavelength after all and I wouldn't have to stage the intervention I had been planning to the extremes I'd thought.

After helping with the bedtime routines for the kids, Hermione had gone downstairs to get some more work finished. When I walked into the living room I found Hermione sitting in the floor, files spread out in the coffee table as she poured over the case. She was so cute sitting there all spread out and lost in her work, it reminded Draco of time at Hogwarts when Hermione had been getting ready for exams.

"Hey, love, how's it going?" I ask as I join Hermione on the floor, bracketing her between my legs as I slide in behind her and hug her around the waist.

With a sigh, Hermione sinks back against me, "It's going."

"I'm glad you came home with us tonight," I whisper against her ear before placing a kiss to her neck.

"So am I," she sighs as my lips brush her neck again. "Thank you for everything you've been doing this last few weeks. I know I haven't been here much and I'm sorry. When this case is over I am going to make sure this doesn't happen again," she says, interlocking her fingers with mine and cuddling against me.

"It's okay, babe. We'll get through this, we always do," I assure her, glad she is seeing everything the same way I am. "How have you been feeling lately?" I ask, worried about how this stress has been affecting Hermione.

"It still comes and goes," Hermione answered me with a shrug, not saying anymore.

"Do you think maybe you should go see Ginny to see if she can figure out what's up?" I ask, stroking Hermione's hair.

"Yeah, I was already planning on going on Friday," Hermione says as she leans into my touch.

"Good," I murmur my agreement as my lips glide over her warm neck, breathing her in. "How late do you plan on working?" I ask as I nip at her collarbone, drawing a gasp of surprise followed by a non of pleasure.

"I can be finished whenever, did you have something in mind?" She asks, her voice playful as she shifts to face me, her brown eyes sparkling with desire.

"Oh, I definitely do," I breathe as my hands move to graze up her sides, my eyes flicking to her kissable lips.

"Then I'm all yours, Draco," Hermione breathes as she shifts to wrap around me, inviting me to distract her from work.Without hesitation, I close the distance between our lips, capturing her mouth in a heated kiss. For the rest of the night we are going to focus on each other, nothing more. This is exactly what we both need, to lose ourselves in each other's arms.
