Author's Note: Questions answered...

Jim and Bones entered Harry's accommodation and the slight brunet smiled in welcome, his hand stroking the head of a large, black dog. "What's with the dog?" the blonde asked.

"Looking after him for a bit," he replied. "Are dogs allowed on the Enterprise?"

"No," he spoke immediately.

"Sirius'll have to take him back then. He's a dog person," he spoke with a shrug.

"And you're not?" Bones asked as he and Jim settled opposite him.

"Don't know," he murmured. "I've known a cat person too. Not sure which way I go." He shook himself. "Everything okay?"

"The repairs are on schedule," Jim stated. Harry's expression turned debating. "What?"

"Did you take the Admiral position?"

"I turned it down," he replied, unsurprised at the question. "My place is Captain of the Enterprise, not riding a desk." Bones glanced at Harry, who shook his head slightly. "What?"

"Doesn't matter," the doctor retorted.

"Seriously what?" Silence. "What do the two of you know that I don't?"

Harry licked his lips. "Ambassador Spock died," he spoke slowly.

"I know, Spock and I touched on that before you joined us."

"Well, with that and the state of things with Vulcan," Bones continued, shooting Harry a glance.

An inaudible sigh from the slighter brunet. "Spock was considering leaving Starfleet," he stated.

"What?!"

"Oh it's true," Bones stated. "He told me when we were stranded, but since he hasn't mentioned it to you, he must have changed his mind."

"I wonder if the 'what would I do without you Spock' had something to do with it?" Harry mused.

"You knew that much detail?" Jim asked.

"Is that what the two of you got privacy about?" Bones demanded. Both his companions nodded. "So how does it work anyway?"

Padfoot nuzzled Harry's hand, and he scratched behind his ears. "Mostly it's just a feeling, 'do that', 'don't do that'," he answered slowly. "'Say yes', 'duck', 'don't interfere'," he continued. "But a couple of times, I saw a series of events."

"Saw?" Jim prompted.

"With Khan I dreamt everything, and with Eddison I literally saw it."

"When you hugged Sirius," his companions spoke in unison. He nodded. "Just so we're clear, Sirius can join us on the Enterprise," Jim stated. "He'll just have to stay with you in your quarters."

"We appreciate that," he stated and Padfoot barked. He gave his head another scratch.

"I'm amazed you're being so open about this," Jim remarked.

"It doesn't relate to the M word," Harry replied with a casual shrug. "Apparently, my Mum had it too, but I think-"

"Yes?" Jim prompted.

"Mine was subtle for the most part," he stated. "Instincts."

"Duck, go left?" Bones guessed.

"Yes. It became stronger not long before I joined you, but my first 'vision' or whatever you'd call it was here."

"Maybe because you didn't need to see it before?" Jim suggested.

"Even if I couldn't change it, it would have been nice to have had a heads-up. Several times," he muttered. "Okay, your curiosity is satisfied, now you can sate mine," he announced.

"Me or Bones?"

"You."

"Shoot."

"Why have you never made a pass at Spock?" The blonde stilled. "He's hot and intelligent," he pointed out.

"Is there something I need to know?"

"Don't try and change the subject, you know I'm just as stubborn as you are."

"Fine," he huffed. "He is," he acknowledged, "but I don't know that he's attracted to me."

"You've flirted with far less encouragement, Jim, so what's the real reason?" Bones retorted.

"We have a really good relationship, and I don't want to mess that up."

"Yeah, but we know what happened with Uhura, and she was the only one that was weird after," Harry pointed out.

"The man's far too logical to be otherwise," Bones muttered.

"All right, I'll think about it."

"Uh, Dutch courage is fine, but if you're drunk, he won't think you're serious," Harry informed.

"Noted."

Jim entered Harry's accommodations and Sirius smiled welcomingly. "Harry's out," he stated. "He won't be long."

"That's all right," he spoke with a grin. "You're good company."

The older man bowed dramatically before straightening. "Thank you, Jim, for letting me join you on the Enterprise."

"Harry's only just got you back, I'm not going to separate you. And besides, it's better for you to be together, for whenever it's time for him to go back. I'm assuming you'll go back with him." His companion nodded. "If he stayed, would you stay?"

"Of course." He met Jim's gaze seriously. "You do know-"

"That he's not going to stay?" Jim finished with a smile. "Yes I do know," he assured.

"So," Sirius spoke with a grin, "have you spoken to Spock yet?"

"No I-" he cut off, shooting the brunet a hard look. "You were the dog, weren't you?"

"Yes," he replied easily, causing Jim to startle. "If the answer was no, I'd just say no, and staying silent is the same as saying yes, so I may as well say it," he spoke with a grin.

"You encouraged him to talk to us," he murmured.

He nodded. "How did you figure it out?"

"Harry is too loyal to tell you what we spoke about, and since the only other person in the room was the dog…"

Sirius grinned. "'Dog person,'."

"He was giving us a clue," he murmured.

"He's gotten better at talking around it. I don't know what he's told you about me," he remarked, "but I was a bit of a Casanova."

"He did mention that. Well, he said you were a ladies' man," he corrected himself.

"I dated a few guys in my time too," he stated. "I don't know if you'd trust my judgement or not…"

"Please," he invited.

"I'd say he's just as attracted to you," he stated.

Tension left Jim's frame. "I'm actually seeing him later today."

Sirius clapped him on the shoulder. "I'd say good luck, but you won't need it."
