Title: I'm fine, really?
Rated: Teen
Character: Zero and Shizuka
The more her fangs pierced his young neck. The more he wanted to die right beside her. The pureblood princess became his everything. She consumes everything about him. His mind, his body, his life. Even his time belongs to her.
One night. A single night is what it took to get him away from her. All his long-lost friends came together to get him alone. To give him a little breather to clear his mind.
Time will change things, but one can not change time itself. With a clear mind, Zero started to notice these changes. At first, they were small. Something that could easily be overlooked. Her strange behavior of kicking him to the corner like a broken toy. It was taking its toll on the teen. How he was willing to try anything to be Lady Shizuka's favorite again.
That wasn't the Zero he wanted people to see. He wanted them to remember him as a proud member of the Kiryu hunter clan. Not a pure-blood plaything. Now it was safe to let himself say. He was ready to let her leave. He was ready to leave her side.
One day at a time is how Zero lived now. Each day that passes, he lives it up a little more without her there controlling everything. Every day that passes, Zero sees himself in a better light than the day before. At first, he wanted to run back to her, but he couldn't let himself go there.
However, it seems things worked out somewhat differently. A good change as things started to work out for the better.
Zero still finds himself looking back on the day he watches her drive away. He still can not believe what he tells everyone now when they ask. "I'm fine without her." And yet, Zero fall back on an old habit when no one was looking. Calling up his once princess just to hear her voice.
"Zero, why are you calling me after all these months, love?"
"Just wanted to hear your voice."
"I see. Well, things are going a lot better now. I had a lot of time to reflect on us. We had to grow up some to face the facts." Zero thought his heart would shatter by now. "We were never meant to be together, you and I." But he felt fine in hearing those words. As everything turned out alright in the end.
