The sound of screams and cries filled my mind. The smell of cordite and rusty iron was all around, filling my nostrils. The feeling of adrenaline was pumping through my veins but at the same time, the feeling artic with so little emotion.

I feel my muscles moving and encountering surfaces, followed by the sound of grunts and feeling things give in to the pressure the muscles were exerting. Suddenly I found myself clutching someone and falling as the man screaming for forgiveness, but just before we end the free fall, I screamed, "See you in hell!"

My eyes open and I saw a pop-up window inside the darkness of my mind saying.

"What? Why am I not dead?" And what the hell was that pop-up?

I said the words out loud, but more to myself than anyone. My head hurt, but this quickly passed. As my eyes began to focus; I found myself inside of a room that looked like it was a converted cave. I sat up, suddenly realizing that I was in the body of my twelve-year self. (I knew this even without looking at the smell the texture of my flesh.)

This was also the same age I was when they made me an emotionless killer that clung to my humanity's embers and hid them. The name on the window was even more foreign as I grew up in the organization since I was a day old. And to my knowledge, I was only one of the many nameless souls they took care of.

I got to my feet, I steading myself as I walked towards the light. I soon found I was indeed in a cave; another just partition of the room I found myself in.

With each step, I heard a voice echoing inside of me. It was a male one, but all I could say was the voice seemed 'familiar,' not like I knew them but more like the people who ordered me to act as a child soldier and turned me into a wet-work operator/fixer.

I growled and could only be assumed I looked hilarious as a twelve-year-old with my plump cheek acting like a cranky old soldier, as I spoke, "Shut the hell up… you are a patronizing ass… I'm tired of following other people or things in order."

I felt exhausted, but I kept moving down the tunnel; the light was getting brighter, but soon I found myself walking out of it. And it was all I saw for miles in all directions.

It was an enormous forest before me. I felt my legs buckle. I grabbed the cave wall and took in a long hard breath as I continue to stare into the distance. I could hear a noise that sounds unlike anything I heard on earth, but I had a feeling it was normal.

As I stood at the mouth of the cave overlooking at the scene, the information I saw when I first awoke began to merge with my mind.

I knew this as I began to understand the information that I did not know some of them when I first read them; but now that information and my original information from my first life was beginning to combine.

After a little while, my strength returned and the numb feeling swarming in my mind. As the information combined and merged, I decided I needed to find where I'd landed (as it was very apparent, I was no longer in Kansas, Toto.)

As I descend from the cave, I found myself admiring the beauty of the wilderness. As I did, I realized I was at peace more in this place than I was on earth (even with the danger I was facing and another chance to die.)

After I walked about thirty miles from the cave, I came before something that looks like a prehistoric version of a black bear. It was three times bigger, so much so that it looked like a mid-size grizzly.

I felt my heart begin to beat and my body grew tenses. But this wasn't the first time I had to fight a bear. I had a similar misfortune in my past life when I was on a solo mission. Of course, I was in an adult body than not this child form but for some reason, I wasn't afraid in fact I was happy I suddenly remembered some text in the window.

『Constitution of the King of Mercenaries』 'The mercenary king's ability is not just limited to the growth of physical strength, combat experience, ability to response to any situations, or knowledge of weapons and how to use them.'

I felt an unseen aura wrap around me. I dashed at it, as I knew somehow it was already aware of me when my eyes first were set on it. Just as I got within its striking distance it began to make swipes that I managed to dodge and evade each of its moves.

I did not bother to see the damage this beast was causing. I could imagine as I heard things snaping and ground being dug into. With each miss, it allowed me to strike in point I had no idea why, but they seem to cause harm and after half a day I managed to beat the bear into the state of unconsciousness. As I looked at myself, I could see I had several wounds from near misses. After seeing this I saw a spell enter my mind, from one of my new memories. As I waved my hand over those spots a light engulfs me and soon as it dissipated and I could see the wounds were gone.

I looked at the bear thinking about killing it but as I thought this, another spell appeared called 'Monster Contract.' The spell and information on what it does show me I could keep it as a pawn for myself. I stepped forward and raised my hand and a magic circle appeared around the bear.

As the spell completed, I could see a mark appearing in the center of the bear. And I then raised my hand and used the same healing magic that I used on myself on it. And after the light faded the bear eyes fluttered open and it got up it no longer had any aggression towards me.

As I see this I step forward and patted the neck of the bear and smiled as I said, "Good boy. Well, you will be my traveling buddy from now on and now that I have you, I also see there's a spell in the space magic meant for keeping you safe when I get to a city."

The bear let out a yawn the hot breath went across my face and I said, "First thing if you're going to breath on me when I pet you, I am going to have to deal with your breath. Now let us go!"

We now began on our way again. I had no idea if there was a town or city from the cave. The forest seemed endless so my many goals were to locate a river and follow it. Maybe I could discover a place where I could get the information. If not, I'd have a place to find food and fresh water available.

As the sun started to drift down, I decided to stop for that day. After I found a nice clear spot, I began building a camp site. I looked to my bear and gave it an order, "Go find something for use to eat while I finish up here."

The bear's eye seems to show a sign of understanding as it turned away, hopefully going off to find something to bring back for us to share.

While the bear went to hunt, I cleared away a decent spot. After I started a decent size campfire, I worked on making a rock into a blade by smack stones against each other (as I had done in past.) After a short time, the bear came back dragging a large deer. (Its throat had been mangled.)

Seeing this I was incredibly happy. I direct the bear to bring it to the river and once we were down there, I began to dress the deer carcass, peeling the hide from the body. I then used a spell and tossed it into a [Item box].

I gutted the deer and let the bear eat these 'trash parts' as its meat too. Soon my arms were coated in crimson gore but after everything was taken out, I was finally able to lift it on my own and walked over to the river and clean the carcass.

Once the carcass was washed and clean thoroughly. I carried it to the fire and set it up over the campfire after I had crushed a few things that looked like plants from the earth that I had gathered on my walk. (I had also tasted them, so I was sure they were not poisonous.)

As the deer cooked, the bear came and laid down its eyes glued on the deer roasting over the fire; I rotated the deer every so often to avoid it burning and I said, "You'll get your share when it's done!"

It seems to understand what I said so it started to rest as I continue to man the fire. And after a while, the meat was done.

I craved a leg from the deer carcass. I then tossed it to bear and it began to eat it. As it ate, I broke down the rest, tossing a few more pieces of the deer to the bear.

I then placed most of the remaining meat into the [Item box] and took the bit I was going to eat before going to sleep.

With the food nestled in my stomach, I soon found myself laying against the bear. I feel it look at me but after tasting the cooked deer it seems it growing accustomed to this partnership.

We both slowly drifted off to sleep listening to the crackling of the burning wood in the campfire.
