Thanks for the love last chapter. There's only two chapters left after this. I hope you all enjoy.
Junior Year
"Ava, I need your help." Brett says softly so Santana won't hear.
"What did you do this time to piss her off." Ava asks.
"I didn't do anything. Why would you think that?" Brett says.
"Because you normally only ask for help when San's upset with you." Ava says.
"Well, this is different." Brett says a little nervous.
He's been thinking about this for a while now but this would be the first time, he's verbalized it.
"What is it?" Ava gently asks.
She can tell he's nervous about something.
"I need help to find your sister an engagement ring." Brett quickly says.
"You're going to propose." Ava says smiling.
"I am, I'm not sure when yet but I want to in the next few months." Brett says.
"I'll help however I can and I'd love to help you find a ring." Ava says biting back a smile.
"Thanks, I'm not going to talk to our parents until I have a plan or a better idea of a plan." Brett says.
"I won't say anything yet." Ava promises.
Brett's super glad that Ava's willing to help out and keep a secret for now.
"I can't wait until I get to call you brother." Ava says giving Brett a hug.
Before Brett can say anything, Santana comes in and he stops himself. Ava and Brett share a look of that was close.
"What are you two up to?" Santana asks.
"Nothing," they both say.
"Sure," Santana says not believing them at all.
She narrows her eyes at them but decides not to push them and heads back to her room after grabbing a bottle of water.
"That was close," Brett whispers.
"She suspects something." Ava points out.
"Yeah, that we're causing trouble." Brett chuckles.
Over the next few days Brett puts a lot of thought into where and when to propose. He wants to do it somewhere that will mean something to both of them. Many of the ideas he comes up with, he instantly rejects like proposing back home in Lima or at Central Park. He's nearly asleep when it hits him. Where he wants to propose. It isn't till the next morning after Santana leaves early to meet up with friends that he can ask Ava what she thinks.
"I've come up with the perfect proposal for us." Brett says as soon as Santana's gone.
"And you want to run it by me." Ava says.
"Yes, I know you'll tell me if it's good or crazy." Brett happily says.
"Lay it on me." Ava says.
"Okay, I want to propose at the homecoming game with hopefully our families there. I'm thinking of actually proposing after the game. What do you think?" Brett says.
"That's a great plan. She's going to love it." Ava says. "We should get on buying a ring as the game is a little over a month away."
"If we can get away tomorrow…." Brett trails off.
"We'll tell her that we have extra practice or something." Ava says.
"It's a plan, now I'm going to call our parents." Brett says.
"Good luck, I'll keep San busy." Ava says heading down the hall.
Brett calls his mom first wanting her to hear first aside from Ava.
'Brett!' Mariam shouts having answered her mom's cell.
'Hey little one, how are you?' Brett asks smiling so glad to hear her voice.
'Good, my friend just got a puppy but mom says I can't have one.' Mariam says pouting.
Brett hears his mom say something to Mariam.
'I'm talking to B.' Mariam loudly says.
There's some more noise before he hears his mom.
'Brett honey is everything okay.' Susan asks.
'I'm good mom, can you get Gray and Mariam. I have something I want to tell all of you.' Brett says.
'Hold on,' Brett hears before he hears her shout for Gray.
It takes a few minutes but finally his mom has everyone there and speaking phone on.
'You're on speaking phone.' Susan tells him.
'I'm going to propose to Santana-'
Before he can finish his mom screams, 'YES!'
'That's great son!' Gray says.
'Sanny's going to be my sister.' Ava happily says.
He waits until his mom calms down before continuing.
'Ava's going to help me pick out a ring.' Brett says before his mom interjects.
'I'm sending you some money to help.' Susan says.
'Mom you don't-'
'I don't want you going into debt, buying the kind of ring that Santana deserves.' Susan says interrupting him again.
'But I want to pay for it myself.' Brett says.
'Let your mom help. She's so excited about this.' Gray reasons.
'Okay,' Brett sighs knowing it's pointless to argue.
'When are you going to do it?' Mariam asks.
'Well…..I'm planning to ask her at the homecoming game. I hope you all can come out and I'm going to ask the Lopezs too when I call them next.' Brett manages to say without his mom interrupting.
'Of course, we'll be there.' Susan practically shouts.
'Honey calm down.' Gray says.
'How can I calm down when my son's about to be engaged.' Susan asks.
Brett sighs as his mom and Gray "argue" until Mariam speaks up stopping it.
'Can I stay with you and Sanny?' Mariam asks.
'Maybe,'
'No,'
'We'll talk about it later.'
After that Gray gives him a few pointers before they say bye as Brett still has to talk to the Lopezs.
'Don't worry the Lopezs will be just as happy.' Susan says before hanging up.
Brett gulps. This is more nerve-wracking than the thought of actually asking Santana. He hopes the Lopezs will be okay with him asking Santana to marry him. Sure, they're cool with him being trans and dating their daughter, but marriage might be different.
'Brett? Is everything okay? Did something happen to Santana or Ava?' Maria rapidly asks nervous before Brett hears her shout. 'Mario something's wrong with the girls!'
'Maria!' Brett loudly says causing her to stop talking for the moment. 'Nothing is wrong with Santana and Ava.'
Just then Mario gets on the phone as well. 'What's wrong with my girls?' he demands.
'Nothing is wrong with them.' Brett calmly says. 'I have something I want to talk to you both about.'
This calms down Maria and Mario as they had been extremely worried something was wrong.
'Okay Brett,' Mario says having calmed down completely first. 'What is it you want to talk about?'
Maria starts to smile having a slight idea of what it might be that he wants to talk to them about.
'Well…..' Brett starts getting nervous again. 'I would like your…um…permission to….um….ask…..Santana tomarryme.' he stumbles before quickly finishing.
Maria shrieks, 'YES!' much like his mom.
Mario is surprised, he didn't think this would happen until after they graduate.
'Why not wait until after you two finish college?' Mario asks. 'Don't you think having a wedding while you're both still in school will be distracting?'
'Honey are daughter's going to get married to Brett. Who cares when it happens?' Maria happily says.
'Mario, I wouldn't want to get married until after we graduate. We're both so busy that doing it before wouldn't make sense but I want to be able to call San my fiancé until then. Though honestly I'll do whatever San wants.' Brett says feeling less nervous since Maria approves and Mario does too mostly.
'Okay Brett, I trust you. You have my permission to ask my little girl to marry you.' Mario says still so glad his baby girl has this wonderful man in her life.
Maria lets out another squeal so happy.
'Thank you, Mario.' Brett says letting out a sigh. 'I'm planning on asking her at my homecoming game. I'd like you all to come if you can. My mom, Gray and Mariam will be coming.'
'I'll coordinate with Susan.' Maria happily says.
'We'll tell Lauren, but let you tell Jack.' Mario manages to say before Maria hangs up to call Susan.
Brett calls Jack next who answers after getting excused from class.
'Brett,' Jack says wondering why he's calling.
'Hey man, I have something I want to tell you. Can you talk? I know you're in school.' Brett asks thinking he might not be able to.
'I have about five minutes.' Jack says.
'I'm planning on asking your sister to marry me in a little over a month.' Brett says.
'That's great B,' Jack says so happy for both of them.
'And I was hoping you'd come with our parents.' Brett adds.
'I'd love to and if you need any help let me know.' Jack says.
They talk a little before Jack has to go. Brett feels relieved that everyone is behind him proposing. Now his biggest problem is finding an engagement ring. It's a few days later when he and Ava are able to go ring shopping.
"Thanks for coming." Brett says as they walk into Kay's.
"Well, you need help and plus this means you have to help me find a ring whenever I decide I'm ready to get married." Ava says.
"You know I will." Brett says.
The pair of them look around unsure of where to look first. They're wearing basketball warmups and look completely out of place. All the workers are staring at them trying to figure out what they are doing here.
"Where should we start?" Brett asks Ava.
"I have no idea." Ava says.
"But you're a girl, shouldn't you have some idea." Brett says.
"I'm about as girly as you when it comes to jewelry." Ava points out.
"Let's start here at the door and work our way around then." Brett suggests.
They look through half the store, not finding anything that looks remotely good enough for Santana.
"What about one of these?" Ava asks pointing to some two to five cart diamond rings.
"I don't know, none of them seem like the right ring for her." Brett sighs.
"You're right," Ava agrees.
They both stare at the case of rings.
"This is going to take a lot longer than I originally thought." Brett grumbles.
"No matter what we'll keep looking until we find it." Ava promises.
Having watched the pair for a half hour, the newest sale's person, a guy named Derek decides to take pity on them.
"Hello, my name is Derek. Do you need help?" Derek asks.
"Yes," they both say.
"Okay, who are we buying a ring for?" Derek asks.
"My sister," Ava says as Brett says, "my girlfriend."
"So, are you planning on proposing?" Derek asks Brett.
"Yes, we're having a hard time finding the right ring." Brett tells him.
"Well, if you tell me a little about your girlfriend and what you're looking for I can help find you the perfect ring." Derek tells them.
"Um…." Brett says being a total guy.
"We're identical twins so she looks like me, but she's way more girly than me. She's into simple elegance and likes more modern things." Ava tells him.
"Yeah," Brett agrees nodding. "I don't really know what I'm looking for only that I'll know it when I see it."
"You two are kind of clueless aren't you." Derek says shaking his head as they both nod in agreement. "No matter, I'll make sure you find the perfect ring for her."
"Thank you," Brett says.
Derek brings out several collections of rings but none of them speak to Brett. Ava agrees and they continue to search. It takes another half hour before Derek brings out a collection of very simple rings.
"These are the simplest rings we have that still have a diamond." Derek says.
Brett looks them over and one speaks to him. He reaches out to pick it up. It's a simple sterling silver band with a five-kart diamond in the center. It's very understated and simple which seems to Brett to be the perfect ring for Santana.
"What do you think?" Brett asks Ava, showing her the ring.
Ava takes the ring to really look at it.
"It's totally San, she'll love it." Ava says.
"I don't know if I can afford it." Brett says looking at the price.
"I can see if we can give you any kind of discount." Derek offers feeling bad for the young man.
"Didn't your mom give you some money?" Ava asks.
"Yeah, but even with the money I've saved and from my mom, I'm still two grand short." Brett sadly says.
"I'll cover the rest and you can pay me back later." Ava says knowing he won't want a handout.
"I couldn't…" Brett says trailing off looking at the ring.
"It's a loan B. San deserves the perfect ring and this is it." Ava reasons.
Just then Derek comes back over. "I can give you two hundred off."
"We'll take it," Brett says nodding to Ava.
He hates that he can't afford the ring but agrees with Ava that San deserves it.
"Great, I'll ring you up." Derek says glad he could help.
"I'll pay you back." Brett tells Ava.

By the time the homecoming game comes around Brett is so nervous that he's glad their families are here to distract him. They had claimed that they wanted to come out to see the homecoming game since it's on a Saturday and neither Jack or Mariam will miss school. Ava "set" it up saying that Brett missed his sister and it was a nice thing to do for him. Santana thinks both and Ava have been acting a little weird but doesn't say anything about it. Lauren had to stay in Ohio as the kids had a cold. She's still staying with her in-laws who aren't in a hurry to have her leave.
"You'll keep the ring for me, right?" Brett whispers as he gets ready to head out.
"Yes, just like we planned." Ava says rolling her eyes.
"Sorry, I'm nervous." Brett softly says.
"No worries, just focus on the game and winning." Ava says.
"Okay…I can do that." Brett says taking a deep breath.
Brett heads out still just as nervous. Ava watches him go feeling bad for him. She gets that he's nervous, but really, he has no reason to be. Her twin will for sure say yes, there's no doubt in her mind.
"How nervous is he?" Maria asks coming over with Susan.
Ava looks around to make sure Santana isn't nearby.
"Mariam has her entertaining her until we leave, in her room." Susan says.
"He's pretty nervous, I don't think I've ever seen him so nervous before." Ava admits.
"I can image, he loves your daughter so much." Susan says.
"I know Santana will say yes, she loves him so much." Maria says.
About a half hour later the family heads out to the arena. Santana frowns as everyone seems a little off. Just too excited or something. It's like they know something that she doesn't.
"Is something wrong or going to happen?" Santana asks Ava.
"Nothing, we're just going to B's game." Ava says hoping she buys it.
Santana doesn't buy it, but decides to drop it since it doesn't seem like they're going to tell her. When they arrive at the arena both Amber and Jess meet them.
"Hey babe," Ava says giving her a peck.
"How's it going?" Jess softly asks so no one can hear her.
Jess is in on the engagement plan, has been since the start. So is Amber which is why she came. She's slowly becoming part of the family.
"Okay, she's a little suspicious." Ava whispers. "B's nervous."
"I would think so." Jess whispers.
"Amber, you're here too!" Mariam loudly says running over to her.
"Hey Mariam, of course I came to see Brett's homecoming game." Amber says allowing the little girl to pull her.
Santana and Jack along with Ava and Jess follow them in, while the parents lag behind to talk.
"She suspects something is going on." Mario says knowing his daughter well.
"Hopefully she'll not guess what it is." Gray says.
"So long as we keep our cool and act normal during the game she won't." Susan says.
"I hope so, she's good at figuring this kind of thing out." Maria says.
"We can last for the next two hours." Mario says before they all agree and head in.
Throughout the game everyone manages to act normal enough that Santana doesn't get any more suspicious.
"Brett doesn't seem to be playing at his usual level." Santana says.
"He's just having an off game." Gray says.
Brett finishes the game with only ten points on three for twelve shooting, five rebounds, two assists and six turnovers. But even with his bad game, his team ends up winning. As soon as the game ends Brett heads up to his family.
"What is he doing?" Santana says as this is not his normal behavior.
He pauses at Ava, allowing her to slip the box into his pocket before making his way a few seats over to Santana. He's thought long and hard for the last month on what to say to her and has decided to go simple.
"San," Brett says standing in front of her.
Santana looks him in the eyes, smiling softly at him.
"I love you more than life itself." Brett says before he gets down on one knee, pulling out the ring box and opening it. "Will you Santana Lopez do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
Santana gasps so shocked that he's proposing that for about a few seconds nothing is said as literally the whole arena waits for her answer.
"Yes!" Santana shouts leaping into his arms.
She kisses him deeply, cupping his face before he puts her down to slide the ring on her finger.
"It's so gorgeous," Santana says staring down at it.
"Ava helped me pick it out. When we saw it, we knew it was perfect for you." Brett says smiling at her.
"I love it, you're the best fiancé." Santana says. "I love that I get to call you that now." she says looking down at her ring. "Is that why our families are here?" she asks.
"Yeah, I wanted them all here for us." Brett says.
Their moms apparently have decided that they don't need any more talking time.
"My baby's getting married!" Susan shouts hugging Brett.
"My baby's getting married!" Maria also shouts hugging Santana.
Then they switch and hug the other, both saying. "Welcome to the family."
"My baby girl is engaged." Mario says sniffling as he pulls Santana into a hug.
"Great job B," Gray says slapping Brett on the back.
"You're engaged," Ava says as she, Jess and Amber all surround Santana.
"I'm glad it's you that's to marry my sister." Jack says giving Brett a hug.
"Thanks man, I'm just so relieved she said yes." Brett says.
Mariam walks in between everyone right up to Santana.
"You're going to be my sister now, right?" Mariam sweetly asks.
"Yes, I am," Santana says getting down on her level.
"Yay!" Mariam says wrapping her arms around Santana's neck.
The family including Jess and Amber now that everyone has said their congratulations to the couple, makes their way back to the apartment to celebrate.
"Lauren wishes she could come but the kids are both sick." Maria tells her daughter.
"I'm just glad so many of you could make it." Santana says.
"We're all glad to join you on this special day." Susan says all smiles.
They celebrate until midnight when their parents, Jack, begrudgingly Mariam and Amber all leave. Ava goes over to Jess's leaving the couple alone for the night.
"I can't believe you managed to hid this from me." Santana says shocked.
"It was so hard, but I wanted it to be a surprise." Brett says.
"It was, the best surprise ever." Santana says wrapping herself around him, their lips millimeters apart.
"Ever?"
"Ever."
Santana deeply kisses him, pulling him down a bit to her level.
"I love you so much." Santana whispers into his lips. "And I'm going to show you." she whispers cupping his junk.
"Fuck," Brett gasps.
Santana shoves him down. She unzips his pants, releasing his dick. Grabbing his semi hard dick, she jacks him off until he gets hard.
"I'm going to enjoy this." she tells him before taking him in her mouth.
"Fuck," Brett moans leaning back.
She gives him the best blow job of his life. Taking him completely in her mouth.
"Oh god," Brett moans running his fingers through her hair. "I'm close."
Santana moans around his dick, bobbing faster, her tongue wrapping around the tip of his dick. He tightens his fingers as he comes, she swallows it all.
"San," Brett moans.
She licks her lips, sitting back and looking at him. With her eyes on him, he feels himself getting hard again.
"You taste amazing." Santana says.
"Fuck San," Brett moans. "We should take this back to the bedroom." he says lifting her up and carrying back to their room.
As soon as he reaches the bed, she yanks off his shirt and her own. They quickly remove the remainder of their clothes leaving her naked under him.
"That looks painful." Santana softly says staring at his hard dick.
"San," Brett moans.
She reaches down, jerking him off a few times.
"I'm not going to last if you keep that up." Brett says removing her hand.
He leans down, capturing her right nipple in his mouth, sucking lightly, using his tongue to flick the nub.
"B," Santana moans threading her fingers in his hair.
She arches her back as he pulls back.
"You're so fucking beautiful." Brett says cupping her face.
"Fuck me already or I'll fuck myself." Santana says so fucking horny.
He plunges into her, both of them moaning as he slides all the way in. He pauses once he bottoms out before pulls almost completely out and then plunges back in.
"Move faster, B, faster." Santana moans gripping his back.
He quickens his thrusts, banning the headboard with each thrust. He reaches down, rubbing her clit.
"B," Santana loudly moans. "I'm so close."
"Come for me." Brett moans in her ear.
She tightens around him, cumming. This causes him to still and shot strings of cum in her.
"Fuck, that was….." Brett says flopping next to her, breathing hard.
"Amazing," Santana finishes breathing hard.
They lay there side by side, recovering.
"B," Santana softly says.
"Yeah," Brett says turning to face her.
"I want to wait until after we graduate to get married." Santana starts and is about to say more when Brett stops her.
"I completely agree." Brett says.
"You do?" Santana says.
"Yes, I want to marry you which is why I proposed, but waiting till after we graduate to actually get married makes the most sense. We're both busy." Brett says.
"I love you," Santana says kissing him.
