One morning at Hexside, Amity was making her way towards the school building, when she felt something strange.
"Huh", Amity asked.
The ground seemed to be shaking, and Amity noticed some pebbles on the ground shaking with it.
"What's going on", Amity asked.
Then, out from the ground, rose a gigantic, worm-like creature with a mouth resembling that of an arctic lamprey.
"Oh my Titan", Amity said, "it's a Boiling Isles Burrowing Death Worm!"
Students ran for their lives, and Amity ran as well, but she tripped on the steps that led up to the building and fell, and as the Death Worm slithered up to her and prepared to go in for the kill, all seemed lost, until a voice called out.
"Hold it right there", the voice said.
It had come from Luz, who was dressed up as her "Luzura" persona, complete with a staff.
"You picked the wrong place to rise up from the ground in, you oversized earthworm", Luz said, "for you now must face me: Luz Noceda, apprentice to Eda the Owl Lady, the first human to learn magic, and the defeater of Grometheus the Fear Bringer!"
Luz paused for a moment.
"Now eat this, sucker", Luz shouted.
Luz fired some blasts of magic at the Death Worm, and it let out a screech of pain as it backed away.
"Back", Luz said, "back to the pit from which you came!"
After a few more blasts of magic, the death worm dove into the ground and retreated away from the school, and once it was gone, Luz walked over to Amity and held her hand out.
"You okay", Luz asked.
Amity took Luz's hand, and the latter helped her back to her feet.
"I am now", Amity said, "thanks for the save."
"Anytime", Luz said.
Amity began walking away, but she tripped again, and was caught by Luz.
"I got you", Luz said.
"Thanks, Luz", Amity said, "you're a real..."
Amity looked up at Luz, and Luz looked back at her, both having the same mesmerized looks on their faces, and after a few seconds, they leaned in close to one another for a kiss, when the sound of Emira's voice echoed in the distance.
"Mittens", Emira said, "Mittens?"
The scene shifted to Amity waking up in the healer's office with an ice pack on her head and Edric and Emira standing next to her, revealing that the whole experience had just been a dream.
"You hit your head pretty hard when you walked into the door to the school as someone was shutting it", Emira said, "are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine", Amity said, "but why'd you have to wake me?"
"I beg your pardon", Emira asked.
"I was in the middle of one of the best dreams I've ever had", Amity said, "a Boiling Isles Burrowing Death Worm came up out of the ground, Luz saved me, and we were just about to kiss, but then you woke me up before our lips could meet!"
"Yeesh, calm down, Mittens", Edric said.
"Calm down", Amity asked, "how can I calm down when I dreamt that I was about to do something it could take forever for me to do in real life, and it got ruined!
Amity walked out of the healer's office with her ice pack, leaving behind a very confused Edric and Emira.
"Looks like somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed", Edric said.
"Both this morning and just a few minutes ago", Emira said.
Later that day, Amity was getting her things from her locker, not noticing that Luz was standing next to her.
"Hey, Amity", Luz said.
This made Amity jump in surprise.
"Luz, it's you", Amity said.
"Of course it's me", Luz said.
"Well, yeah", Amity said, "I mean, that's you're body, who else would be inside your body besides you, am I right?"
Amity let out an awkward chuckle.
"Okay", Luz said, "anyways, I need your help."
"Sure", Amity said, "what is it?"
"It's abominations class", Luz said, "I'm having a little trouble."
"What kind of trouble", Amity asked.
"Well, seeing as I can only cast spells that I have glyphs for, I can't cast a spell to create an abomination", Luz said, "I was hoping you might be able to help me figure something out, seeing as you're the top student in the Abominations track."
"I'm not sure if I know any other ways to create an abomination besides magic", Amity said, "but I'll see what I can do."
"Great", Luz said, "meet me after school, and we'll head over to the Owl House."
"Sure", Amity said, "I'll be there!"
Luz walked away, and Amity pumped her fist in excitement.
"I think I just scored myself a study date", Amity thought, "well, in a way."
Later that day, Amity was at the Owl House with Luz, teaching her some fundamentals about Abominations
"So, Luz", Amity said, "as you might've already learned in class, abominations are made up of reanimated matter."
"Yes, I know about the science of abominations", Luz said, "just not how to make one."
"It's simple", Amity said, "an abomination is formed by nearby matter coming together."
To demonstrate, Amity cast a spell circle, and an abomination rose up.
"Nearby matter, huh", Luz asked, "okay, I think I get it."
Luz scooped up some water from a puddle with her hands, poured it onto a rock, and blew on it with her mouth in hopes of creating an abomination, but nothing happened.
"What are you doing", Amity asked.
"I'm trying to create an abomination with nearby matter", Luz said, "I'm using this water, a liquid, this rock, a solid, and my breath, a gas."
Amity sighed as she facepalmed.
"This is going to be harder than I thought", Amity said.
"Maybe there's some kind of clue on your abomination", Luz said, "mind if I take a look at it?"
"Sure, knock yourself out", Amity said, "but be careful where you touch it, or it'll knock you out."
"Gotcha", Luz said.
Luz inspected every nook and cranny of Amity's abomination, but she couldn't seem to find anything.
"Come on", Luz said, "there's gotta be something here."
When inspecting the abomination's head, Luz looked into its eyes, and noticed something.
"Hold on", Luz said, "what's this?"
Luz pulled out a magnifying glass and held it over one of the abomination's eye, and she could see what looked like a glyph.
"What'd you find, Luz", Amity asked.
"I think it might be the glyph for abominations", Luz said, "but I need to test it."
Luz pulled out her notepad and drew the glyph, which was a circle with another circle inside it that had upside-down crescents resembling eyes and a half-circle resembling a frowning mouth (in short, it resembled the head of an abomination).
"Okay", Luz said, "here goes nothing."
Luz tapped on the glyph, and an abomination rose up from the paper.
"Hey, it worked", Luz said.
Amity was very impressed with what she had witnessed.
"You thought the way I cast that light spell was interesting", Luz asked, "what do you think about me summoning a whole abomination that way?"
"Wow, Luz", Amity said, "that was amazing!"
"Thanks", Luz said, "now, abomination, lift me up!"
The abomination just stood there and did nothing.
"Abomination", Luz said, "I gave you an order."
"I'm afraid that's not the way it works, Luz", Amity said, "creating abominations is one thing, but getting them to do what you want is another."
"Oh, I see", Luz said.
"Don't worry", Amity said, "I'll teach you what you need to know."
"Thanks, Amity", Luz said, "you're a true friend."
Luz's words made Amity feel a little bothered.
"Yeah", Amity said, "a friend."
Amity spent the afternoon teaching Luz how to get her (Luz's) abominations to do as she says, and as she did so, the two were being observed by someone who was hiding in the woods.
AN: Here it is, at long last. My first Owl House chapter story. I gotta tell you, this story has been a long time coming, and I'm glad to finally be starting it. Whether or not I write more chapter stories for the Owl House depends on the reception this one gets. But for now, I hope you all enjoy this story that I have for you now.
