Chapter 12 Quizzes Part 1
While walking in the classrooms, they find two classes in session. But as they meet a teacher, she says something that surprises them.
Teacher: The usual instructor is taking the day off for his birthday, so I'm here as a substitute teacher.
Ash: I see...I hope we aren't interrupting the class.
The teacher tells them that their students might want to battle them, so they just battle them for fun and then head upstairs.
They arrive at the school library as they find some books, some of the books are fictional stories for leisure instead of school purposes. They also find some people telling them about how the Move Struggle is used, Shedinja's Wonder Guard ability, and also the Eeveelutions. All of the information are useful to them, and they are glad to learn about the information.
And they continue to head north, they find four gentlemen. The bottom left Gentleman notices them as he is the first one to talk to them.
Gentlemen: Would you like to take my quiz? "Types" is the category of my questions.
Ash: Sure, let's give it a try. (Lillie also nods in agreement.)
Gentleman: Very well. First question: which type is immune to the effects of spores and powders? Grass, Bug, Ghost, or Fire?
Ash: This is easy, Grass Type is the one.
Gentleman: That's correct! Second question: Which of these moves is Normal type? Bite, Sweet Kiss, Dizzy Punch, or Nuzzle?
Lillie: Bite is Dark Type, Sweet Kiss is Fairy Type, Nuzzle is Electric, so the answer is Dizzy Punch.
Gentleman: That's correct! Third question: Which of these type combinations has a double weakness? Fire and Psychic, Fighting and Dark, Normal and Water, or Electric and Fairy?
Ash: Fighting and Dark are both weak to Fairy.
Gentleman: That's correct! Fourth question: Which type does the Fighting/Dark combo have a double weakness to? Fighting, Flying, Bug, or Fairy?
Lillie: We just told the answer, it's Fairy.
Gentleman: That's correct! Final question: which item can bypass type immunities? Assault Vest, Ring Target, Luminous Moss, or Weakness Policy?
Ash: That's Ring Target.
Gentleman: That's correct! You've completed my quiz! Here's your prize. (Giving them Ring Target) Knowing how types interact with each other is one of the fundamentals of battle! Although you can still win with a disadvantage, it's generally not advised to use a Leavanny against a Magmar, for example.
Ash: That's true. Let's see what's the next one.
And after that, they walk to the bottom right table to find the second Gentleman.
Gentlemen: Would you like to take my quiz? "Abilities" is the category of my questions.
Lillie: Sure, just give us the questions. (Ash also nods in agreement.)
Gentleman: Very well. First question: Which of these abilities can heal status problems? Synchronize, Magic Guard, Shed Skin, or Magic Bounce?
Lillie: That will be Shed Skin.
Gentleman: That's correct! Second question: Which of these Pokemon has the ability Forecast ability, allowing it to change forms with the weather? Castform, Ditto, Kecleon, or Greninja?
Ash: Castform, that's an easy one.
Gentleman: That's correct! Third question: Which of these abilities DOESN'T involve damaging the opponent? Rough Skin, Static, Iron Barbs, or Aftermath?
Lillie: That will be Static, it only paralyzes.
Gentleman: That's correct! Fourth question: Which of these Pokemon weak to Ground takes no damage from Ground Type moves due to its ability? Magnezone, Chandelure, Klefki, or Rotom?
Ash: Rotom has the Levitate Ability.
Gentleman: That's correct! Final question: How do you change a Pokemon's ability? PC deposit and withdraw, use an Ability Capsule, get Hoenn's Ability Symbol, or you can't?
Lillie: Use an Ability Capsule.
Gentleman: That's correct! You've completed my quiz! Here's your prize. (Giving them Ability Capsule) Abilities can change the outcome of a battle! Certain abilities even have effects outside of battle as well!
Lillie: Okay, now we should go to the third one.
And they go to the top-left table to find the third gentleman, wondering what question he is going to give them.
Gentlemen: Would you like to take my quiz? "General Knowledge" is the category of my questions.
Ash: General Knowledge...that seems tough...
Gentleman: Very well. First question: which of the Poke Balls has a high chance of catching a Pokemon at night and in caves? Ultra Ball, Dusk Ball, Net Ball, or Heavy Ball?
Ash: That will be Dusk Ball.
Gentleman: That's correct! Second question: Which of these Pokemon is notorious for blocking places off when it sleeps? Snorlax, Slaking, Sudowoodo, or Wailord?
Lillie: Snorlax, considering it happens at Route 12 in Kanto a lot.
Gentleman: That's correct! Third question: Ceolis has 18 gyms, but how many do most other regions have? 9, 8, 4, or over 9000!
Ash: That is simple, 8 is the answer. I have participated in the leagues before, and over 9000 is crazy.
Gentleman: That's correct! Fourth question: Why isn't the normal teacher here today? He forgot what day it was, he just didn't feel like coming, it's his birthday, or it's a mystery?
Lillie: How am I supposed to know that? (Remembers the words from Substitute teacher.) Wait, I think it is because of her birthday.
Gentleman: That's correct! Final question: What means "I Love You" in Venusaur? Saur, Soar, Sore, or Sawr?
Ash: Sawr... (Says in a tone that makes Lillie blush)
Gentleman: That's correct! You've completed my quiz! Here's your prize. (Giving them Ultra Ball) You never know when seemingly useless trivia will come in handy!
Lillie: You're right about that.
And they go to the final gentleman at the top-right table, but they don't know that the final gentleman is giving Ash and Lillie a lot of questions.
Gentleman: Would you like to take one of my quizzes? "Other regions" is the category of my questions. I have one for Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, and Galar.
Ash: Lillie, I'll do the questions. Since I have traveled all the regions.
Lillie: Okay, I'll trust you.
Gentleman: Very well. We start with Kanto. First question: Which of these is a popular hangout spot for Clefairy? Celadon City, Rock Tunnel, Indigo Plateau, or Mt. Moon?
Ash: The answer is Mt. Moon, I have seen it there.
Gentleman: That's correct! Second question: What did Team Rocket want to take over? Pokemon League, Silph Co, S.S Anne, or Sevii Islands?
Ash: The Silph Co. S.S. Anne is a close one, but I know it is not the answer.
Gentleman: That's correct! Third question: When Koga was promoted to Elite Four, who became Fuchsia's new Gym Leader? Sabrina, Red, Janine, or Blue?
Ash: His daughter Janine.
Gentleman: That's correct! Fourth question: What did Silph Co. create? Master Ball, Pokedex, Mewtwo, or Silph Co?
Ash: A Master Ball, it can capture every Pokemon without struggle.
Gentleman: That's correct! Final question: What does Lorelei of Kanto's original E4 lineup do in her spare time? Argue with Oak, play the Pokeflute, collect Plushies, or make quizzes?
Ash: I have met her once and she told me she likes to collect plushies.
Gentleman: That's correct! You've completed my Kanto quiz! Here's your prize. (Giving them Poke Doll)
Lillie: A Poke Doll...I am glad to have another one since I lost mine at my house.
Ash: I see...next is Johto, I'll take the quiz.

Ash: The Kimono Girls, each of them have an Eevee.

Ash: Amphy, I remember I had to go to Cianwood City to get medicine for it.
Lillie: Really? Sounds like you've been doing a lot of work.
Gentleman: That's correct! Third question: Which gym leader is infamous for using Rollout? Clair, Pryce, Whitney, or Falkner?
Ash: It's Whitney, I have trouble with the Rollout of her Miltank.
Gentleman: That's correct! You're on a roll! Fourth question: What is Cianwood Pharmacy's secret medicine? Moomoo Milk, Slowpoke Tail, Rage Candy Bar, or Secret Potion?
Ash: I think I'll answer Secret Potion.
Gentleman: That's correct! Final question: What does Kurt do? Make Poke Balls, Eat Appricorns, Pokeathlon, or Radio Tower Director?
Ash: Make Pokeballs, I remember I gave him Apricorns and he would make a Pokeball for me.
Gentleman: That's correct! You've completed my Johto quiz! Here's your prize. (Giving them a Lure Ball)
Lillie: Lure Ball...that looks like the same Pokeball for Feraligatr...
Ash: It is, I got it from Kurt himself, and I admit Misty and I had a fought for who to get Totodile after capturing it. Lure Ball is good for Pokemon that lives underwater, so use it while we're surfing or fishing.
Lillie: I get it, now let's go to the Hoenn Quiz.
Gentleman: Very well. First question: What's a hobby for some in Mossdeep City? Launching Rockets, Pokemon Contests, Secret Bases, or Wailmer Watching?
Ash: That will be Wailmer watching.
Gentleman: That's correct! Second question: Who is the most famous Contest star in Hoenn? Wallace, Lisia, Chaz, or Birch?
Ash: Lisia, she is Wallace's niece.
Gentleman: That's correct! Third question: In which place do challengers try to get past placed obstacles and reach the end of each room to outwit the owner? Battle Frontier, Trick House, Victory Road, or New Mauville?
Ash: That is the Trick House.
Gentleman: That's correct! Fourth question: Where can Glacia sometimes be found in Mauville? Food Court, Rydel's Cycles, Game Corner, or Mauville Hills?
Ash: I think it is the Food Court, I remember we saw the news from Hoenn before about how she stayed there.
Gentleman: That's correct! Final question: What is the name of the tribe of Dragon trainers who live in Meteor Falls? Sootopolitan, Team Magma, Draconid, or Team Aqua?
Ash: The Draconid. I heard them stopping a meteor with Rayquaza a few years ago."
Gentleman: That's correct! Bonus question: Where are you from?
Ash: I'm from Kanto. Is there something the matter?
Gentleman: No, you seem to be a smart person. In any case, you've completed my Hoenn quiz! Here's your prize. (Giving them a Heart Scale)
Lillie: Heart Scale...I heard that Move Relearners like this kind of item, but why is that?
Ash: But you have to admit. This sure is pretty and extremely rare. I am sure that some people are happy to receive one.
Lilie: That's right. But we still have five more regions to go.
Ash sighs as he doesn't know if he can answer the questions considering that some of the questions are really hard.
Here is a new chapter, and I decided to split the quizzes into two chapters since this is really tiring and there sure are a lot of items getting from the quizzes. I hope you like this chapter, and in the next chapter, I will continue with the quizzes, and perhaps doing something that will surprise a lot of readers.
