Chapter 24 Wonky Woods and Pond
In Wonky Woods, they find some wild Pokemon living in the forest, like Poochyena and Foongus, and there are Pumpkaboo and Phantump as well.
Ash: I think I want to capture a Pumpkaboo...the Trick-or-Treat move is really good.
Lillie: I agree, changing Pokemon into Ghost Type and defeat it with Super Effective move is also a good strategy.
Ash then has Hawlucha go for Acrobatics, and then Ash uses the chance to capture the Pokemon.
They also find an Exeggcute, and Ash has Espurr battle the Pokemon, and after battling for a while, it becomes a Female Meowstic.
Ash: Lillie, do you know that different genders of Meowstic learn different moves?
Lillie: Really? I never noticed...
Ash: Like my Meowstic can learn Shadow Ball and Charge Beam, which can't be learned naturally by male Meowstic unless you gave it a TM or Move Tutor, as well as other methods.
Lillie: That sounds cool. (Notices Wynaut.) I think maybe I'll try to have a Wobbuffet. I mean, Team Rocket might have one, but the way it only attacks after being attacked sounds interesting.
Lillie has Makuhita battle the Wynaut, since using Counter is a Fighting Move, and Mirror Coat is Psychic, and it will be better to use Fighting. After capturing the Pokemon, they train for a while and Wynaut evolves into a Wobbuffet, while Makuhita evolves into a Hariyama. They also find Drowzee and Misdreavus in the forest, but they decide not to capture them as they use them for training. And Lillie's Geodude evolves into a Graveler after training with the Pokemon, and so is Chewtle, which becomes a Drednaw.
Lillie: Now I can use my Drednaw with the Mega Stone...but the problem remains, the Key Stone...
Ash: I know. But it will be great to gather Mega Stones so that it will be satisfied when we get the Key Stone.
As they are walking around, they see a Drifloon watching TV in the middle of the woods.
Ash: Another weird thing that we found in this place. A Television inside of a forest and a Drifloon is watching...
Lillie: I agree.
Just then, the Drifloon floats towards them, it has an adventurous look in its eyes. It tries to grab onto Lillie with its arms, but it can't support her weight.
Lillie: (Surprised what the Drifloon is doing.) Do you want to come with us? (Drifloon nods.) Okay, I'll take you, just let me go.
After Drifloon releases Lillie, she sighs as she captures the Pokemon. Just then, their Ranger Application is calling out to them, as they have a new mission.
Mission Name: A Walk on the Wonky Side: A couple went out to explore Wonky Woods since its reputation made them curious. They've been gone for long enough for their friends and family to start worrying, hence this request was sent to us. The mission is pretty straightforward: Just find the couple and make sure they're okay. Or at least, it would be straightforward if Wonky Woods wasn't such a bizarre and dangerous place. Be careful in there, rangers.
Ash: Wonky Woods is where we are! Great...let's go do it.
Lillie: And how are we supposed to find the couple when this place is wonky?
Just then, they hear a scream, which comes from the couple, and they decide to follow the sound. As they follow the sound of screaming, they find the Couple being surrounded by Unown. Five of them are normal Unown, but one of them is a blue Unown.
Ash: (Remembers what happened in Greenfield) Oh no...they are surrounded by those Unowns...
Lillie: We have to help them.
After dealing with the Unown, they fled except for the blue one, which decides to join Lillie's team.
Husband: Thanks for fending off those Unown! We were helpless!
Wife: We'll go back home now. We don't regret coming to check it out, but it's too much for us.
Husband: If you're ever in the Umira Area, come to visit us.
Then the couple leaves the woods. Ash reports to the rangers and their mission is complete.
Before they leave the forest, they find Gina standing in front of Delicia and Felicia, and she is licking Felicia's face.
Felicia: You'd fit right in with my team. My Pokemon like to lick my face too, haha.
Then Gina licks Delicia's face, and she just does a :D face. After the two siblings leave, Gina goes to Ash and Lillie as she also licks their faces as well.
Lillie: (Whines) I thought I wouldn't have to be licked...
Ash: (Sighs) It's not that bad.
Lillie: Yeah...I guess so. But hey, didn't Emily or Gladion mention something about a door that leads to another part of the woods? I guess this is the door. Should we enter it? I am not certain.
Ash: (Looks at the door.) We should. Let's hope that nothing goes wrong.
After passing the door, they are now at the place known as Wonky Pond, and they see Pokemon like Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour playing there, along with Mime Jr, Woobat, Spoink, Solosis, and even Spinda.
As for the lake, there are only Inkay and Staryu. Ash decides to capture an Inkay as he knows how powerful Malamar is.
Ash: I still remember how Malamar is capable of controlling people back in Kalos...though it turns out that they have trainers and it is Dr. Xerosic's.
Lillie: Really? That sounds really interesting.
After that, they see an Espurr with an odd color standing in front of the lake.
Espurr: Hi, Ash and Lillie! Surprised I know your name?
Ash: We are surprised, how do you know us?
Halloween Espurr: My Trainer, Isabelle, has been keeping an eye on you two! I'm what you might call a "Holiday Pokemon". There are five of us. I represent Halloween!
Lillie: Okay. So there might be one for Christmas or Valentine's Day... (Just by thinking those make Lillie blush, as he wants to spend it with Ash.)
Halloween Espurr: You can't catch me of course, since I already have a trainer. But if you can defeat me in a battle, I can make you look like me!
Ash: Why do we want to be like you? I mean...being Pokemon is very great, but we already experienced being Corsola, Cradily, and Musharna...
Halloween Espurr: As a Holiday Pokemon, you can access certain places that you normally wouldn't be able to as a human. You could cross the grey "water" behind me, for example. Small puddles like the ones near the grass aren't a problem, but a large mass like that would have a person feeling woozy. And if you want to switch back to yourself at any time, I can do that too! So would you like to give it a shot?
Ash: Sure. If you want a battle, I can give you a battle!
Halloween Espurr is just like the other Espurr, it is using Fake Out on Heracross, and then uses Psyshock to give it a lot of damage, but Heracross lands a Megahorn and it was able to deal a lot of damage as well. In the end, it is defeated with ease.
Halloween Espurr: Your skills had me spooked! That was a good battle! I didn't expect to lose. Now you would become like me!
It glows and now Ash and Lillie are looking like two Espurr, and Pikachu and Snowy are surprised as well.
Lillie: Now that looks cool...though it is a shame we can't use Pokemon moves as a Pokemon...
Ash: I know, but I think there was one area we couldn't cross back in Wonky Woods. Let's go there to see what's in the middle of the island.
They use the powers to get back to the area where they can't cross, and they hear strange noise, just then, a Celesteela lands at the island
Ash: This is the second Ultra Beast we are seeing here...but are you serious? A Pokemon as giant as Celesteela on a small island?"
Lillie: I know what you mean, it is a good thing we can stand on this greywater.
With Charizard and Raboot's help, they manage to use a lot of Fire attacks to defeat the Pokemon.
Celesteela: Steel! (Signalling Ash to capture it, and Ash does it. The two trainers are surprised at what just happened as they go back to Wonky Ponds.)
They also try out the hidden cove, and they find themselves in a place known as Halloween Hideout. There are Spinarak, Pumpkaboo, Zubat, Shuppet, Chingling, Phantump, Misdreavus, and Duskull in the cave.
Ash: I think I'll have a Crobat, since it is really powerful as well.
Then he has Pikachu attack the Zubat, causing it to get paralyzed and then captures it. After training for a while, it has become a Crobat. Ash also captures a Shuppet and a Duskull with the help of Gengar, as they really like how Gengar is doing pranks.
Lillie: (Finds a Fennekin) It is so cute...I think I want to capture it.
They notice that Fennekin is having a Halloween-themed cookie with orange frosting and little black stars, it is eating that it didn't notice them.
Ash: I don't think we should disturb the Pokemon...
They go to the right side where they see 9 rocks, and they hear a large booming voice.
Mysterious Enthusiastic Voice: WE HAVE A CHALLENGER! CAN YOU FIGURE OUT WHICH ROCK IS REAL?
Lillie: Where did that voice come from?"
They look around, and they can see that the first rock is shaking a little.
Ash: I don't know, but there are nine brown rocks...
Mysterious Enthusiastic Voice: (Ash touches the first rock.) I'M INSIDE HERE! I LITERALLY LIVE UNDER THE ROCK!
Ash: Are you a Dwebble or something?
The voice refuses to answer him, much to his annoyance, so he goes to the second rock.
Mysterious Enthusiastic Voice: THAT'S A SLEEPING CARBINK! DON'T WORRY, MY VOICE WON'T WAKE IT UP! IT'S A REALLY HEAVY SLEEPER!
Lillie: Heavy sleeper...huh? (Touches the third rock.)
Mysterious Enthusiastic Voice: THAT'S NOT A ROCK, THAT'S A METAL!
Ash: Hey, maybe I can use this on Onix. As it is a Metal Coat! (He uses it on Onix, and then it evolves into a Steelix. After recalling the Pokemon, he touches the fourth one.)
Mysterious Enthusiastic Voice: I WAS HOPING YOU WOULDN'T FIND THAT!
Lillie: (Takes the Marble.) Looks like we found another one of the Marble... (Touches the fifth one.)
Mysterious Enthusiastic Voice: YOU HAVE FOUND THE REAL ROCK! AND ALSO A ROCKY CROWN! YOU ROCK! HERE'S MY PERSONAL REWARD TO YOU, IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T HAD ENOUGH ROCKS FOR TODAY!
Lillie: Just great, I can use it to evolve Slowpoke into a Slowking, but I already said I want a Slowbro.
Mysterious Enthusiastic Voice: (Ash Sees the first rock now has a Rocky Helmet on it.) A ROCKY HELMET WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FOE IF THE FOE HAS USED A CONTACT MOVE! IT SEEMS SOMEONE IS A FAN OF YOU!
Ash: (Picks the Rocky Helmet and puts it into the bag.) Though I wonder what is in the other rocks. (Touches the sixth one.)
Mysterious Enthusiastic Voice: THIS IS VOLCANO BAKEMEAT!
Mysterious Enthusiastic Voice: (Lillie touches the seventh one.) SORRY, BUT THAT'S A BEAN BAG SHAPED LIKE A ROCK!"
Mysterious Enthusiastic Voice: (Ash touches the eighth one.) OH, THAT IS DWAYNE! CAN YOU SMELL WHAT HE'S COOKING?"
Lillie: I am not going to answer that...(Touches the ninth rock.)
Mysterious Enthusiastic Voice: THIS IS A MIMIKYU THAT'S DISGUISED ITSELF AS A ROCK!
Then the Mimikyu starts to attack them, and with Pikachu's help, they manage to knock it out, and Lillie uses the chance to capture it.
After that, they go to Fennekin, and now it has two cookies in her hands. They are the same Halloween-themed cookie with orange frosting and little black stars, and Fennekin is offering them. After they enjoy the cookies, it is staring at Lillie with admiration since she gets the King's Rock. Then Lillie manages to capture it.
After getting out of the grove, they get to Halloween Espurr as they change back to themselves, they were almost getting crazy as the Espurr forgot their genders.
Here are a lot of things that I need to talk about. First of all, the Wonky Woods is very creepy in my opinion, the statue of Professor Oak, the grey waters that you can't step on, and the other things... Drifloon, Fennekin, and Unown are actually event Pokemon in this game, so you will have to do those things if you want one.
