Chapter 31 Bolaii Beach Gym Battle
Ash and Lillie are now back at the battlefield of the beach, where Emily, Gladion, and Chelsea are waiting for them.
Chelsea: Sorry for the delay. Or well, Team Portal are the ones who should be sorry for it.
Ash: It's fine. I am excited to have a battle with you.
Lillie is now sitting beside Emily and Gladion, and she is surprised that they are still here.
Lillie: You decide to watch this one as well.
Emily: We haven't seen Ash's battle this close, so it will be a great opportunity.
Chelsea: Well, water you wading for? Come at me, Slowbro!
Referee: The match between Gym Leader Chelsea and Challenger Ash is about to begin. Each Trainer will be using 6 Pokemon, and when one side loses all their Pokemon, the other side wins. Now please send out your Pokemon!
Chelsea: Here is my first Pokemon, Yohane!
She sends out Mantine as her first Pokemon, and Ash decides to go with Luxray.
Chelsea: Yohane. Show your power as the fallen angel. Use Rain Dance!
As Mantine goes for the rain, Ash just feels like he already knows she's going to do that.
Ash: Luxray, use Scary Face!
Luxray makes a face to make Mantine a little frightened, and then it goes for Spark, which deals some damage. Mantine goes for Tailwind, and it goes for Bounce. And the attack hits Luxray hard.
Ash: That is a nice bounce, but now finish it with Electro Ball!
Chelsea: You're Electro Ball will be sent back by Water Pulse!
As both attacks clash with each other, Electro Ball goes through Water Pulse and knocks out Mantine.
Chelsea: Well, that is nice. But I know someone that can avenge Yohane. Go! Ruby!
As the second Pokemon appears, it is a Corsola. Ash decides to switch out and goes for Sceptile for the battle.
Chelsea: Ruby! Let's go with Light Screen and Calm Mind!
The attacks are raising the Special Defense, but Ash doesn't seem to be worried.
Ash: Sceptile is a Physical attacker, use Leaf Blade!
But much to their surprise, Corsola uses a berry to block the attack, and that berry is no other than Rindo Berry.
Chelsea: Now show your Ganba Ruby! Use Ancient Power!
The attack goes towards Sceptile and deals some damage.
Lillie: Ganba Ruby? How did she...
Gladion: Looks like someone is using your motto as well.
But in the end, Sceptile goes for Brick Break, and it defeats Corsola in the end.
Chelsea: Ruby is working hard. Now let's go with You!
The third Pokemon is a Lapras, and Ash knows this Pokemon is trouble.
Ash: Lucario, I need your help!
Ash sends out his Lucario to battle the Lapras, and Lapras goes with Sing to make Lucario asleep. With the aura helping it, it goes for Power-up Punch to attack Lapras, which is also super effective.
Chelsea: Now Full Steam Ahead! Use Water Pulse! Yosoro! (salutes like a sailor.)
Lapras goes for the Water Pulse, which deals some damage to Lucario, and then a Body Slam causes it to get paralyzed.
Ash: Lucario! Wake up and now go for Aura Sphere!
Lucario eventually wakes up and uses Aura Sphere, knocking out the Pokemon in the end.
Chelsea: I guess let's change into big guns. Mari! You're next!
Ash and the others are surprised to see the Pyukumuku, it is not normal colored, and it is green.
Lillie: That Pyukumuku is quite rare...
Emily: Yeah...it sure is Shiny~ Lillie, do you know how Chelsea nicknames her Pokemon?
Lillie: What is it?
Emily: Their nicknames are actually from a famous Anime known as "Love Live Sunshine!"
Gladion: What is that? I didn't watch too much TV.
Emily: They are a group of nine members who become School Idols to save their school from being abandoned. Now that I think about it, Yohane and Ruby are actually first-grade students, You and Riko are second grade, and Mari is in the third grade.
Ash sighs at how many anime that Emily has watched when she stayed with her grandmother, but right now she is trying to deal with this Pyukumuku.
Ash: Use Bullet Punch!
Lucario tries to punch the Pokemon, only to be Countered back by Counter, and Lucario is knocked out of the battle.
Ash: Well, I did my best. Gourgeist, I choose you!
The four Pokemon for Ash is Gourgeist, and it goes for Trick-or-Treat to make it a Ghost Type, and it also sets Leech Seed to suck its health. Pyukumuku doesn't learn any attack moves, so it is defeated by Shadow Ball in the end.
Chelsea: Time to send out my star, Riko!
As the Brionne appears, Ash decides to go with Ampharos. Ampharos is hit by Disarming Voice, which gives some damage.
Ash: Your Brionne isn't a Fairy-Type until it evolves, which means I can use Dragon Pulse!
The Dragon Type move is hitting the Pokemon really hard.
Chelsea: Show your strength as an idol! Use Sing!
Ampharos is hit by the attack, but after two turns, it wakes up and lands Thunder Punch, knocking Brionne out of the battle.
Chelsea: Don't you think that it will be easy for you to win, now come and help me out! Dia!
Chelsea sends out her Milotic, which is her final Pokemon.
Emily: So Dia is the last one...considering she is Ruby's sister and also the student council in the anime.
Ash: Maybe I should ask Grandma how much anime you have watched...
Emily: But you don't understand, Ash, the only ones that remain are called Hanamaru, Kanan, and Chika, Chika is the leader of the group as the nine of them called themselves Aqours!
Lillie: And I don't know anything...
Ash decides to go with Greninja as his final Pokemon. Milotic goes for Attract, and Ash knows that Greninja doesn't like it to be happening.
Ash: Let's go! Greninja!
Just then, Ash-Greninja appears on the field, and the others are surprised.
Lillie: This is actually the first time I'm seeing this...
Chelsea: I see that's the famous Greninja that everyone has been talking about...but it is still going down. Use Water Pulse.
Because Greninja is in love with Milotic, Ash is the one that controls Greninja like a puppet. He uses Night Slash to deal some damage to Milotic, and eventually, it knocks Milotic out with the Water Shuriken.
Referee: Milotic is unable to battle, which means the winner of the gym is Ash Ketchum!
Chelsea: I'm all washed up! (Recalls Milotic) That battle got my pulse racing! You've won my badge. It's the Feebas Badge because I'm all about that Feebas.
Ash takes the Feebas Badge and thanks her, but Lillie is just confused.
Lillie: What does that mean?
Emily: I don't know. But you did it, Ash! Congrats!
Ash: Thanks, Emily.
Gladion: I guess our next destination from here will be Classic Park. They were having a problem trying to calm down a Tyrantrum, but maybe it's solved now.
Chelsea: Before that...I was wondering if you four knew how this region got its name?
Emily: We read about it on the way here! When the Pokemon League was formed, it was decided to name the region after whoever could become Champion! That happened to be Ceolis. Ceolis was also one of the two founders of the league along with Kayla.
Chelsea: Your Accuracy there was 100%. Since you knew that, is it safe to assume you know about the Sea Stars, too, since Ceolis is one?
Gladion: I think I have heard of this term a lot of times, but I have no idea what it means...
Ash: The Sea Stars are an underwater civilization that lives below Ocean Coast! They're not human, but they have humanlike appearances, similar to how some Pokemon like Jynx and Machamp have human characteristics. Sea Stars can be distinguished from humans by a star mark they have on them! The location of the star mark is different for each Sea Star.
Chelsea: You've Aerial Aced the test! Ceolis was the region's first and so far only Champion. He was also the Sea Star Representative! He resigned because he wanted more time to travel to places outside this region, and no one's been able to Snatch the throne even in his absence.
Ash: But do you know where is he? It will be great to see him for once...
Chelsea: I'm sorry. Where Ceolis is today is Unown. The last time he was here, he passed on the Representative title to Ivan before leaving.
Ash and Emily seem to frown a little, and it causes the Aether siblings to be confused.
Lillie: Ash? Emily? What's wrong? Why are you sad?

Emily: Thank you so much, Chelsea! We'll keep your words in our hearts while we're exploring Ceolis!
Chelsea: It makes me euphoric to know I've left a Heart Stamp on your memories! And stay Kricketuned, because I have an Explosion of new music coming soon!
Lillie: We definitely will!
After that, Chelsea has something to do in the Legend Dairy, so they bid farewell to them and leave.
Lillie: Why are you a little sad when you were asking about Ceolis? I mean...do you know the Champion of this region?
Ash: I have never met him before, but our mother does.
Emily: Indeed, she told us to call her if we can find the Champion...though we don't know why...
Gladion: I see...sounds like he might be a person who impacts your mother a lot.
After that, they decide to leave the place, but unknown to them, Ash's back neck and Emily's right arm that is covered by her shirt have a faint glow that shapes like a star, it blinks a little before getting back to normal.
Here is the new chapter, and as you can see, Ash gets his fifth Gym Badge. If you're asking me about the gym leader's nicknames, I just read it on Wikia. I was surprised to see ICSW giving Chelsea's Pokemon nicknames for Aqours. And if you notice at the end of the chapter, Ash and Emily are actually Sea Stars. I hope you like this chapter and the next chapter will be cleaning up some of the parts in the previous routes or cities.
