Destiny has been crushing Merlin for far too long. Gaius has noticed but can't help, Arthur's noticed (but not understood) but Mordred's had enough of the cold shoulder from Merlin and wants to help. The only way to help is to venture into Merlin's mind and possible soul, there's just one problem…Magic is outlawed.

She was there when he needed her. She was there when he felt lost and sad. She was his first love...and would be his only love. Life becomes too much for Merlin and all he wants is someone to be there for him. After two painfully hard days, Merlin feels his magic being called out. He follows that call and finds himself at the Lake of Avalon, where she awaits

Set during The Kindness of Strangers. Merlin does things differently, starting with deciding to face Morgana and becoming more involved with helping the people like him. He knows he has to find a solution, but choosing one side, he might endanger this other.

This started as an OC I could just throw into merlin and Arthur's life who could convince merlin to stop making stupid choices...and then it turned into a gender-swapped Arthur, Secretly Royal Merlin fanfiction, and then I actually started writing it...and absolutely love the character my OC became and he became the lead...

He held her in his arms as she died, he loved her. He messed up everything, but he especially messed up her. She stared up at him as she passed, she loved him too. They were both doomed though, it was far too late for the two of them. (Oneshot)
