Chapter 17-Working Together
A grounder village
Alan's P.O.V
A man named Alan walked through a grounder village as it burned to the ground. He looks at his man. "Has the message been left?" He asks his warrior.
"We figured you would want to do it, sir," The warrior says as he throws a male grounder on the ground.
"The commander will have your blood," The man on his knees says.
"Her blood will lie on the ground the same as yours and the same as Wanheda. I will take my rightful place in that tower," Alan says as he pulls his knife out. He slashes the man's throat and watches as he falls to the ground. "Pull his shirt off," The warrior nods as he pulls his shirt off. Alan bends down and starts to crave in the man's skin. He stands up a few minutes later. He looks at his message. Your time has come, Lexa. You will fall with Clarke Griffin. Alan stands up and looks around. "Let's rollout, boys. She'll get the message," Alan says as he leaves with his warriors leaving the buildings to burn.
Murphy's P.O.V
Murphy and Raven sat in a tree watching a prison camp. It has been a week since they had started watching it. "So five prisoners. Two kids and three adults," Raven says to Murphy, who nods.
"Guards switch every hour, and all of them are in there for either theft or beating the shit out of someone," Murphy says.
"If one of them catches us, we knock them out. We don't kill any of them," Raven says to Murphy, who nods. "Okay, we move at dark," Murphy says as he looks at the sky.
"Hopefully, we can go home tomorrow. I'm sick of sleeping in a cave," Raven says to Murphy, who smiles. "I miss our friends. What did Clarke say when you told her about this?"
"She was okay with it," Murphy says. "She's okay with leading by herself," Raven nods as they continue to watch the camp.
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke sat in her house with Jasper, Wells, and Daisy. "How is hunting going, Jasper?" Clarke asks Jasper.
"Connor and Lucas went one way, and Nathan and Lisa went the other. Both groups are due back today," Jasper tells her. "We have sent someone out to find them,"
"Good, Wells. How is the building going?" Clarke asks Wells.
"Good, we should have the buildings done for the people Murphy and Raven are bringing back by the end of the day," Wells says.
"Daisy, how has training been?" Clarke asks.
"Everybody is getting better each day. They should be able to fight if we are attacked," Daisy says as the door comes open. They look at Monty.
"What the hell, Monty?" Clarke says.
"Nathan and Lisa are dead," Monty says. Clarke stands up and follows Monty outside and to the gate where Connor and Lucas were looking at the bodies.
"Were they killed by animals?" Clarke asks Connor and Lucas.
"Maggie found them," Lucas says. "But it seems like they were killed by grounders,"
"Clarke, they left a message," Connor says as he pulls up Nathan's shirt. You will fall with Lexa, Clarke Griffin.
"Someone is after Lexa and I?" Clarke asks them.
"I don't know. Looks like it," Connor says.
"Shit. I want the area around Outcast falls checked. Groups of four," Clarke says. The people start to nod as they separate. She looks at Emori and Echo.
"You two go find Murphy and Raven. Help them if need be," Clarke tells them. Emori and Echo nod as they leave. Clarke goes back to her house and grabs her radio. She changes the station.
"Roan," Clarke says.
"What is it?" Roan asks her.
"Two of my people are dead. I can't come today," Clarke says.
"I can't either. A grounder village was found burnt to the ground with a message to Lexa," Roan says.
"What did it say?" Clarke asks.
"Your time has come, Lexa. You will fall with Clarke Griffin," Roan says. "Clarke?"
"I gotta go, Roan," Clarke says. She changes the channel again.
Lexa's P.O.V
Lexa, Octavia, Bellamy, Indra, Kane, Ontari, Lincoln, Anya, and Roan stood in the throne room as Roan walked back in. "Lexa," Clarke says through the radio. Octavia holds the radio out to her.
"Clarke?" Lexa asks.
"My scouts found a village burnt to the ground with a message on a man's chest," Clarke lies.
"I know," Lexa says. "I saw it,"
"Two of my hunters were just found dead with a message carved into his chest. The message was. You will fall with Lexa, Clarke Griffin," Clarke says.
"Someone is after us, Clarke," Lexa says. "Maybe we should come together,"
"How many people died in that village?" Clarke asks.
"35," Lexa says.
"You and I will meet. Just us, if I see or hear anybody else. I'll leave," Clarke says.
"Where?" Lexa asks.
"There is a field north of Tondc," Clarke says. "The field Nyko saw Jasper and Monty,"
"Okay," Lexa says.
"See you soon, Commander," Clarke says before the radio goes static.
"Are you going alone?" Octavia asks.
"Yes," Lexa says as she leaves the room.
Murphy's P.O.V
Murphy and Raven sat at the camp they made. They both pulled out their weapons as they heard footsteps. Emori and Echo walk out of the woods. "What are you two doing here?"
"Nathan and Lisa are dead. It seems like someone is going after Clarke and Lexa," Emori says. "It's time to come home,"
"We can't. We're almost done," Raven says.
"I figured you'd say something like that. Okay, then we have to do this now. We need to get back. Clarke left to meet with Lexa," Emori says.
"Okay, new plan then," Murphy says. "You know this place?" He asks Echo.
"Yeah," Echo says.
"Do you think you could distract them?" Murphy asks.
"How?" Echo says. Emori smirks as she looks Echo up and down.
"With this," Emori says as she motions to Echo with a smirk.
"Are you serious?" Echo asks. All three of them nod. "I hate you all," Echo says.
"Come on, Emori," Murphy says as they start to move. Echo sighs as she heads to the camp. Murphy, Raven, and Emori wait for the warriors to be distracted by Echo before they head into the building. Murphy grabs the keys and goes to the first cell. He looks at the man. "We are here to help you. Stay quiet," The man nods as Murphy opens the cell. Murphy, Raven, and Emori open all five cells. "Stay close," He says. As they get to the end, a guard walks in. Emori grabs his head and slams it into the fall, knocking him out. Emori waits for them to get into the woods and nods to Echo. They wait in the woods for Echo.
"I'm going to kill you all," Echo says as she walks past them.
"Follow us. We have a home for you," Raven says to the prisoners, who nod as they follow them.
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke sat on a log and looked at Lexa as she walked over to her. "Alone?" Clarke asks Lexa, who nods.
"Yes, Clarke. I came alone," Lexa says. "May I sit?" Clarke nods, and Lexa sits down beside her. "Our people are dying, Clarke. I think it is time we put our problems aside,"
"Our problems involve hate," Clarke says.
"Does your hate overweight your love for your people?" Lexa asks her. Clarke looks at Lexa.
"No, it doesn't," Clarke says. "The people who are killing our people is clanless,"
"How do you know?" Lexa asks.
"Because all of my hunter's things were taken. Warriors don't loot bodies most of the time or carve notes. Also, none of my scouts have spotted any of the clans in our area," Clarke says.
"Mine haven't spotted any either," Lexa says. "Clanless are active in this area,"
"You need to be prepared to pick the good clanless from the bad," Clarke says.
"Why?" Lexa asks her.
"After all this. Everything goes back to normal. You don't hunt me, and I return home. Deal?" Clarke asks Lexa, who nods. "My people are clanless. Over 50 of us,"
"How have you not been found?" Lexa asks.
"That is not of your business," Clarke says. "I will talk with Murphy and the others. You will know my answer by tonight," Lexa nods as she stands. Clarke walks away, heading for Outcast falls. Lexa sighs as she heads back to Polis.
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke, Raven, Murphy, Wells, Jasper, Monty, Daisy, Skylah, Otan, Emori, Lucas, Connor, and Echo stood in Clarke's house. "This is a group decision if you don't want to. We don't have to," Clarke says.
"This is our people's best chance, Clarke. We have to," Murphy says.
"Yeah," Raven says.
"Everybody in agreement?" Clarke asks them. They all nod. "Then we leave for Polis now,"
"I'll stay, Clarke. I'll lead," Lucas says.
"Okay. Let's go, guys. Everybody has what they need?" They all nod as they leave the house. Clarke pulls out her radio. "We're coming, Lexa," Clarke says.
"How many?" Lexa asks over the radio.
"11," Clarke says as Otan heads for the blacksmith, staying to help make weapons.
"We'll be ready, Clarke," Lexa says. Clarke shuts off her radio as they leave Outcast falls.
Polis
Evening
No one's P.O.V
Lexa, Octavia, Lincoln, Bellamy, Kane, Anya, Indra, Luna, Roan, and Ontair stood at the gates of Polis as the gate opened. Clarke walked in the front of her group and stopped in front of Lexa. "Commander," Clarke says to Lexa.
"Wanheda," Lexa says. Octavia walks past Lexa and hugs Clarke, who hugs her back with a smile.
"Look at you," Octavia says as she looks Clarke up and down. "If I wasn't with Lincoln. I might make a move," Clarke smiles.
"It's good to see you, Octavia," Clarke says. She looks at Bellamy. "Do I get a hug, Bell?" Bellamy smiles as he hugs Clarke.
"They didn't miss us," Murphy says to Raven with a smirk.
"Nobody would miss you, Murphy," Octavia says.
"We would miss your Murphy," Skylah says.
"Thanks," Murphy says.
"I feel introductions are in order," Anya says.
"Still serious, Anya," Clarke says. "Yeah, I guess. That is Daisy and her sister Skylah. That is Emori and Connor. And you all know Echo,"
"She was never meant to come back," Lexa says.
"She's here with us. No, her, no us," Clarke says. Octavia hugs Jasper and Monty.
"Sorry about helping to lock you up," Octavia says to them.
"Thanks," Jasper says. "Can we get this underway? I would like to go home as quickly as possible,"
"I agree," Murphy says to them.
"Where is home?" Luna asks.
"Nice try," Clarke says. "Let's go," Lexa nods as she leads them to the tower. Kane walks beside Clarke.
"I would like to send a message to Abby. She would love to see you," Kane says to Clarke. "I know there is tension between us all, Clarke. I hope one day we can all be one people,"
"Maybe," Clarke says as they walk through the city. "Tell her to come and bring Harper and Miller," Kane nods with a smile.
"I know you won't tell us where it is. But what is the place you live like?" Kane asks.
"It's so beautiful, Kane. I hope to show it to you someday," Clarke says to Kane. "I think out of everybody you would appreciate it," She looks at Bellamy.
"He'll come around," Kane says. "Clarke, I need to know something," Clarke looks at him. "Are you happy?"
"Yeah," Clarke says. "I'm happy, Kane. I really am," Kane nods as Murphy walks up to Lexa, who looks at him. She was far away from the others.
"Is there something you need, John?" Lexa asks.
"You hurt her," Murphy says to her.
"I know what I did," Lexa says.
"I'm going to keep this nice and short. You try anything here. You hurt her or anybody else. I'll kill you. Commander or not. I will put a bullet through your head,"
"I could kill you right now," Lexa says.
"And Raven will have an arrow in your chest in a second. You hurt Clarke. A woman I love like a sister. Don't do it again," Murphy says before he steps backward. "Also, if you meant it. You know killing me would hurt her," Lexa looks ahead as Murphy walks beside Raven. They get to the tower.
Top of the tower
After they all got to the top floor, they all met in the throne room. "It is late, and I bet you are all tired," Lexa says. "Everybody will have to share a room,"
"Wells and Daisy can share," Skylah says, making them both look at her.
"Okay," Octavia says.
"I'll share with Connor," Monty says. "Jasper can share with Skylah,"
"Hey, Clarke. Why don't you share with me?" Raven says with a smirk.
"No. I'm scared you might try to make a move," Clarke says to Raven.
"Nobody would blame her," Octavia says.
"I'll share with Murphy," Raven says. "That leaves Clarke, Emori, and Echo,"
"I'll share with Emori," Echo says.
"That leaves me," Clarke says. "I'll sleep on a couch,"
"She can take my room," Ontari says. "I'll share with Bell," Bellamy nods, agreeing with her.
"You may all sleep. We will start tomorrow," Lexa says. They all nod as they leave the room. "Clarke," Clarke stops and looks at her. "Can you stay?" Clarke nods as the others leave.
"What?" Clarke asks. Lexa stays silent for a moment.
"I'm glad you came," Lexa says.
"Goodnight," Clarke says as she leaves the room. Anya walks in after her.
"Are you okay?" Anya asks her.
"I can see the hate, Anya," Lexa says. Anya walks over to Lexa and hugs her. Lexa slowly hugs her back.
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke sat in her room and looked at the door as there was a knock. "Come in," Clarke says. Murphy opens the door and walks into the room.
"You okay?" Murphy asks her.
"I've seen her before. I'm worried this time will end just like Mount Weather," Clarke says to Murphy as he sits down.
"It can't," Murphy says to Clarke.
"Why not?" Clarke asks.
"Because you'll have us no matter what happens. You'll have Raven and me," Murphy says. "We are going to beat these people, and then we are going home," Clarke nods as Murphy kisses her head.
"Goodnight," Murphy says before he leaves the room. Clarke smiles as she lays down.
Alan's P.O.V
Alan walked into his hut and looked at his wife. "Is it done?" His wife Rose asks.
"Yes," Alan says as he looks at his son's room. "Soon, our family will have our rightful place in that tower," Rose nods as Alan goes to his room.
Thanks for reading. With that, the chase is over for now. It will not truly end until later but for the first time. Clarke's side and Lexa's side are in the same building, and I am very excited for all the character interactions. I can finally do. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
