Kusuo sat tensely in his room after he had destroyed the meteor that had been 2 hours away from hitting Japan. His world was tinted green once again. How typical, just two days as a normal human being before my abilities were needed. Should he have let the meteor hit Japan? Should he have just ruined the mechanic suit his father was wearing and just let devastation take place? Yare yare, Japan has been spared of so many disasters, maybe it wasn't meant to be? Images of his scared friends and family bombarded his mind. No, there was no way he could pass peacefully over to the land of the dead if he let his friends get smashed by a meteor… or his family for that matter. Kusuo certainly cared for his grandparents and mother, and for some reason, he still cared for his father and older brother. He didn't want either of them to deal with the meteor. He never wanted to have to put that type of responsibility on either of them. Not because he didn't trust them, more that he didn't want them hurt or to take any blame if the plan went wrong.

The young psychic had obliterated the meteor and have its pieces shatter all over the areas closest to Tokyo. He has punched his way right through it with closed eyes, begging for his abilities to still be active as he did his heroic feat. As he now looked down on his heavily bruised hands that were marred with slowly healing scratches Kusuo couldn't help but feel slight bitterness. Why was it him that was burdened with powers? Why not someone like his mother who was mostly gentle and cared about most of the human population? Why was he, the selfish grouch with a coffee jelly addiction, the one with psychic abilities?

Boss nova purple eyes found themselves looking into a full body mirror in the corner of his bland room. Kusuo could see his ripped school uniform, bruised skin, and ruffled pink hair for a few seconds before it all turned into muscles, veins, fat, and bones. The teen never found looks important, not his own looks or others, but now that he has had a taste of how others see the world… He has never before wanted to see his own body as much as he wanted it now. Kusuo craved it. He had seen his own naked body unhindered only a few hours ago. He wanted to go back to being able to stand before the full body mirror in the corner of his room and see the magic of skin. See how he himself looked, really looked.

A few hours ago, he had stood before the mirror for ages. He looked like a normal teen. A little toned muscle here and there but with round slightly chubby cheeks. His body was mostly untainted with scars other than a few faded ones here and there from when he was young and not as iron-skinned as he had become later in life. Kusuo had looked like a soft teenager and not at all like an all-powerful psychic being. Being. Because was he really human? Did he qualify as human at this point? As he sat there in his bed observing himself in the full body mirror, he could feel his powers settling themselves back into his bones, muscles, vessels, fat, organs, and skin. Everything from his little toe to his slightly chubby cheek would be hosting psychic energy that could easily split the planet into pieces, just like he had done with the meteor. I destroyed a meteor before I even had gotten my full powers back. Yare yare, I will soon need my limiters again.

He figured it would be redundant to use the second-generation canceler Kusuke had created. Not only did it look like a turd had been rolled in sprinkles, but it only held back his abilities for a short amount of time. Why had he let himself get his hopes up? God was against him, he knew this.

I knew you would save us Kusuo! Now we can play together! Kusuo clenched his eyes closed and slapped his hands over his ears. For each second that passed more and more voices penetrated his mind. This wasn't like when his psychic powers focused on his friend's thoughts before the meteor would hit. No, this was his all-powerful mind-reading abilities coming back with full force. Thank you Kusuo, thanks to you I didn't have to fight the meteor! Does this mean that you will teleport me to work tomorrow? Salt tears welled up into his eyes and slid down his cheeks, he felt them solidify before they could drip off his cheek. My little Ku-chan is back to normal! We can visit mom and dad often now! My quest for normality was so… CLOSE. Am I really never going to be free from my powers? That was amazing boss! You totally saved my life there! Dying wouldn't be the worst outcome but I am glad to be alive. Being a ghost has its ups, but I prefer to be alive! Kusuo felt his heart clench. Toritsuka and Aiura were psychics too but they were normal enough. The psychic canceler might even work on them for longer than they did to Kusuo.

More and more thoughts entered Kusuo´s mind, some of them not even from planet Earth. His cheeks felt stiff and slightly heavy as more and more tears solidified after they were cried. Baby Ku is crying. The voice sounded close and familiar but Kusuo ignored it in favor of trying to block out the thoughts of simple alien organisms trapped inside the closest Black Hole. I should get his limiters. Kusuo sat curled up on his bed, and a nimble hand settled upon his head and ran its fingers through his pink hair. Another hand settled on his hip; it was attached to an arm that had wound around him. Someone was sitting next to him on the bed pulling him into a hug. I didn't think his reawakened powers would cause him so much grief. He looks so young… and pathetic really. This isn't the end of the world; he can't live the rest of his life hating such a prominent part of himself. The hand left his hair and returned a few seconds after with something. I never knew he had abilities like that… A second later a familiar feeling of his left limiter being put in snapped him out of his weird trance-like state. He no longer heard the voices of trapped aliens inside a Black Hole, no he now only heard the thoughts of the people in the same neighborhood as him.

Kusuo slowly opened his clenched eyes. There was a slight resistance but he easily broke through the slight crust on his eyelids. He looked over to his left and made eye contact with his older brother. And so Baby Ku has come back from his little trip. You should have put in your limiters the moment you came back from beating the meteor. Speaking of meteor its pieces completely ruined some buildings in Tokyo, haven't you practiced catching rock pieces before they hit the ground? You told mom you have. Kusuo stared coldly at his brother, I have, but not with as limited powers as I had at the moment. I just had enough strength to break through it. Why do you think I have bruises? Kusuke looked him over, What bruises? Oh-shi. Kusuo looked back down on his hands after he put them down from his ears. He made sure his hands didn't touch anything to avoid psychometry. Kusuo´s hands were blemish less other than a few faint scars on his knuckles that were fading more and more for each passing second. Kusuo felt a slight joy at knowing that he was able to keep scars at least.

His eyes flickered over to the full body mirror in the corner. Kusuke looked like a casual doctor as always in his white coat and comfy clothes, hair covering his eye. Kusuo however looked like the opposite of normal. His eyes were glowing and on his cheeks was pure gold. Drops hanging off his chin looking like teardrops. I really can't catch a break, can I? Dad will be nagging me about getting the gold no doubt. Kusuo looked like himself for the most part, if you ignored the defeated look in his eyes and ruined clothes that just about covered his privates. Do you think I will ever be free from my abilities?

Kusuke let himself flop back onto the bed and spread out his arms. "Maybe. I don't know what to think. I spent ages making these, so sure they would work, but then they failed. They were supposed to make you completely normal, like any other brat, physically. I think the problem might be that you aren't quite like other humans. Your body might be meant to have that power. What situations were you in when your powers flared up? How were you feeling?" Kusuo laid down next to Kusuke, as all fight had left him. I flared up first when I was about to enter a classroom where I had told my friends to go. I was about to tell them about my ex-psychic status. I then saw a cockroach and a window blew up. Wow, Kusuo… my mind is actually getting your memories delivered into my mind. A new ability?… and seriously? A bug? Then my second flare-up was probably right after you advised me to try and live peacefully. I heard your voice without your mouth moving. After that, I got my X-ray vision when my classmate Nendo came up behind me the next school day. He startled me like always, he never has any thought that I can read unless a meteor is coming. I then found out before class started that I had teleported some library books into a cabinet when my classmates were searching for some missing keys. Then those keys appeared in my mouth… Kusuke snorted with laughter beside Kusuo. "You probably tried to deny your resurfacing abilities." Anyways, wait… before that, I had made my chair move to let me sit. Forgot about that. However, after that new ability with the keys, Another new ability? So interesting! I have to observe it later! I turned invisible and then got my telepathy back.

The blonde let out a deep breath, "Well that was a fast resurface. I honestly thought you were being a little bit dramatic when you dragged me outside the night after you got the canceler." Kusuke sat up and stared down at his little brother, "Baby Ku, I think your powers are more than a ´sixth sense´ I think it may be linked to every component of what makes you… you. Not just your bones and muscles, but your mind and senses as well. You might even be the result of a massive genetic mutation in humankind!" He fiddled with the right limiter before putting it back into his brother's skull. "To be completely honest… I am skeptical of you ever being like everybody else. I can´t replace every single part of you no matter how tempting it is." He drooled slightly and had to wipe the saliva off his cheek, "I can help you dull your abilities for short amounts of time for now, but my best advice is to accept yourself."

Yare yare, is Kusuke actually acting like a brother? Kusuke smirked at him and stood up. "I am sure you are thinking among the lines of ´is Kusuke actually acting like a brother? ´ so little faith you have Baby Ku!" He tapped his scowling little brother on the head, "You can´t continue your life disliking such a big part of yourself. I will not accept self-hatred! Stop yourself pitying and find the good sides of your life and enhance those. Spend time without your stupid monkey friends if that is what makes you feel normal. You have treated your abilities as a curse for 17 years, probably more with your constant time alteration." Kusuke bonked him on the head, "Give up and settle Kusuo." Don't look at your powers as something restraining. I know that is hard but try and look at it as a gift to help those you care about instead.

Silence. Yare yare, who knew you actually have a heart? Bring out the fireworks, Kusuke being nice to his brother without asking for a favor? Kusuke got a real smile on his face along with Kusuke, "Oh I will ask you for a favor baby brother. I HAVE to figure out how your new abilities work. Is there a limit to what you can find in your mouth? You are basically a slobbery dog bringing things to his masters… and don't say they aren't your masters. Haven't they dragged you onto tons of things you didn't want to?" Pot calling the kettle back no? Weren't you drooling just a minute ago at the thought of building a new toy?"

"KU-CHAN AND KU-KUN! DINNERTIME! » Kusuke jumped and glared at his brother, «You couldn't have warned me, Baby Ku?" Kusuo shook his head and smirked, "COMING MOM!" shouted Kusuke back before running down leaving his little brother to mull on his older brother's advice.
