Shinji explains the events and lessons of EoE and the last half of EVA to Asuka in this short One-Shot. (Pretty OOC for every character featured, specifically Yui, but it's artistic license.)

Yui Ikari makes an unplanned reappearance after the Contact Experiment with EVA Unit-01. But all the best plans have their quirks, and even the most amateur player knows when to re-evaluate and re-adjust. With Yui to temper the worst impulses of NERV's staff, the future seems brighter than before, but how far will she go to protect her interests: namely, one Shinji Ikari?

Anyways, the plot: Pilot Childhood Friends AU, Yui & Kyoko live, Shinji grew up with his parents, the devastation of Second Impact was avoided, but none of this will save them when the angels finally arrive. Gradual tone shift. The ReiShin plotfic I wish to see in the world.

They thought Shinji was gone forever after failing over and over again to extract him from his EVA. To everyone's surprise, however, one last-ditch effort is eventually successful. The only thing that's changed is him undergoing puberty, which was expected. That is, until puberty starts taking a very different direction…

In which Asuka is in the right place, at the wrong time. Some things are different, while some things remain the same.

Five years after the war with Seele Shinji is starting over. A fresh start at university. Some lessons are harder than others but at least he has friends to help. AU, OOC Rated M for language and some suggestive scenes in later chapters.

For some of the select few, the day that they die can be the day that they actually live. To live for the first time, you have to die for the first time, breaking from chains of shame. Likely Shinji/Rei, but it has to develop over the course of the story.

Six years after Third Impact, the planet faces another supernatural threat. Will Shinji step up this time as Earth’s protector and redeem his past mistakes? Or will he fail and leave humanity to perish again? A story of how Shinji grows as a person and as a hero with the help of a good friend, supernatural abilities, and the impending destruction of the planet.

After the 14th angel, Misato and Ritsuko come up with a last-ditch effort to retrieve Shinji from Unit-01's core. (Rated M for lewd topics discussed)

Marijuana becomes a strange ice breaker, leading them to open up about traumatic memories they have long tip toed around.
