Pillow Fight
"You're taking all the space!" Effie complained, kicking him in the shin not too delicately for someone who always insisted on manners.
Haymitch grumbled but turned on his stomach, half asleep. His arm was dangling from the bed now. He hated those beds, they were narrow and cold and not at all made for sharing. A persistent tugging finished to wake him completely.
"What are you doing?" he mumbled, annoyed.
"You're hogging the blankets too! Really, Haymitch, I have no space and no blankets. Where do you expect me to sleep?" she huffed.
He turned his head to look at her. She was sitting, wedged in the tiny space between his shoulder and the wall. He could barely see her features in the darkness but he knew she was pouting.
"In your own bed?" he snorted.
She narrowed her eyes at him and pushed him to get more space. Or rather she tried to push him. Haymitch was very happy to remain a dead weight and watch her exhaust herself for nothing. After several long attempts to move him, she gave up with a huff. He wasn't hiding his smirk.
"Tired, sweetheart?" he mocked, stretching his limbs until he was occupying all the space available.
"You're a horrid man." she growled. "I want to sleep. Move."
He should have seen the blow coming. She hit him with the pillow twice before he moved to take it from her. They struggled for it and when he managed to snatch it from her hands, she simply grabbed his and hit him again. He snorted at how ridiculous she was but used his captured pillow as a weapon to fight back carefully – he didn't plan on hurting her or on falling off the bed. She started giggling and he took advantage of her lack of attention to grab her around the waist and pull her down with him.
"Are you done?" he asked.
"I'm cold and I'm sleepy and you aren't helping at all." she sulked.
He rolled his eyes and maneuvered them until she was sprawled on his chest. It wasn't the most comfortable for him but at least she would get room. It took her a while to find a good position to sleep in and to settle with her head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her and closed his eyes again.
"Better?" he mumbled.
"Perfect." she sighed against his neck.
