Yeah I saw it this afternoon and it begs for a loooot of hayffie missing scenes XD
A Gift
"Effie!" he called when he spotted her at the other end of the corridor in the Presidential Mansion. He waved away the soldier he had been talking with. She switched course and walked toward him, waiting until the man in grey was gone before speaking.
"Katniss is settled in her room." she declared.
"Good." he commented, eyeing her up and down with a smirk. "You're ready to go back to the circus, I see."
She pursed her lips, narrowed her eyes and tilted her head. With the wig, make-up and huge dress, the scene was achingly familiar and he was transported back to a time when things had been, not easier, but, maybe, less complicated.
"This dress looks like a bow." he snorted. "You look like a giant gift."
The annoyance on her face slowly morphed into amusement. "And who would that gift be for, I wonder?"
"Well, I wouldn't mind unwrapping it." he teased, wriggling his eyebrows.
The laugh took her by surprise and she swallowed half of it back, shaking her head with fondness.
"I might let you." she hummed playfully.
"Yeah?" He tugged on the collar of the dress but she batted his hand away.
"You are a resourceful man, aren't you?" she declared. "I am certain you can find out where my room is…"
She glanced around to make sure they were alone, pressed a kiss at the corner of his lips and sauntered away on her heels.
He watched her leave, thinking it was good to smile again.
She had a knack for that : making him smile.
