Not far from Platinum's villa at the Battle Frontier, the young heiress had rented a building. It was a big but simple building. While it had been empty and unoccupied for a while, for Platinum Berlitz it was perfect.
In the days following, she and her friends had been busy carrying all kinds of equipment and hardware, and the simple building was quickly changed into a lecture hall.
Proudly, the heiress checked herself in the mirror. She was wearing a neat looking dress-shirt, a dark-blue skirt and her white lab coat. Her hair was neatly combed in her usual style. This is how a lecturer would look like, right?
Satisfied, the woman exited the room and went downstairs where her sister: Moon and her dear friends: Diamond and Pearl, were waiting.
"I know you are excited, but you were in the dressing room for over an hour." Moon pointed out, "This is not some important event of high esteemed scientists or scholars."
"It would be rude of me if I did not take this serious Moon." The lady answered, "If the lecturer does not put any effort into their job, then the students will neither!"
"You just want to try out being a lecturer." Her younger sister pointed out.
"Am I that obvious?" Platinum's cheeks turned red. She coughed and composed herself. "I cannot do that!" she stated, "If I am too excited, I will be seen as a fool. Professionalism earns respect!"
Moon, Diamond and Pearl awkwardly stayed silent.
"Uh, I think you shouldn't worry so much, lady Platinum." Diamond reassured her, "Just be yourself and you'll be fine."
"Thank you." The heiress answered. "Well then, shall we go?"
The three nodded and followed Platinum to what they had dubbed; the Auditorium.
As the name suggested, the room was transformed into an auditorium. It had a large digital screen, a podium and a crowd. Which was mainly just her juniors, seniors and their guest from a different world.
White and Black came to greet Platinum eagerly. "Good morning Senior. And once again, thank you for coming up with this amazing project! We have everything ready, just give us the signal, and Senior Silver will get everything started." White explained.
"I am just happy that I get to work on such an amazing project with amazing people." Platinum replied.
When they had finished exchanging pleasantries, Platinum went to the podium; she felt her heart beating loudly. The heiress cleared her throat and scanned the room. Everyone was present; Irisviel waved at her when their gazes met. She was holding her Deinos, Elivira and was equally excited for the seminar as Platinum was. Most of the homunculus' company was just silently waiting. The young boy Waver, while appearing to be prepared for today, was distracted by Rider's loud laughter. Her senior Gold was chatting away with Lancer, possibly informing the man of what he could expect. Her senior Crystal was on the other side of the room with her stepfather and Archer. While Platinum wasn't very familiar with everyone's circumstances, it was obvious that Kirei and Kiritsugu avoided one another. Red, Green, Blue and Yellow were oddly in the far back of the room, whispering. They had brought several coffee mugs with them. Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire were somewhat in the middle row near Crystal. Sapphire did not seem keen on today's activity, but Ruby was eager to change her mind. Emerald, lazily listened to Crystal's explanation, while also taking out a coffee mug. Her juniors X and Y were in the back. Lack-two and Whi-two were in the front, along with Sun who was cheering on Moon and Platinum.
She locked gazes with her Senior Silver, who was in charge of the equipment and nodded. The light dimmed immediately.
"Welcome everyone! And I thank you for joining me in this educational journey! I am Platinum Berlitz. I will be guiding you through these upcoming days. My assistants; Diamond, Pearl and Moon, are ready to help. If there is anything you want to ask. Well then, let us start with this project's agenda. Many of you have come from afar. While you have been living here for a while, and even adapted to our wonderful society. There is still a lot of information and knowledge that is harder to access. Thus we will begin with a little bit of the history of the Pokémon World, our origin, our development and our roots. Next, we will get the opportunity to behold the remains of several ancient civilizations. These have been kept intact for over millennia. They hold valuable information about the bonds between humans and Pokémon of the ancient days. And as of last, we will hold a discussion about our findings. The Berlitz family will sponsor a dinner as closure for the project. I hope you will be having an enjoyable time!"
Platinum took a sip from the glass of water that was prepared for her. She took the remote control and pushed the button to activate the screen. It flashed to life and depicted something akin to a mural painting of an egg and a white, equine creature.
"Before any civilization, before even the world existed, there was only a vortex of chaos and nothingness. Within that vortex, a single egg came into being. From that egg, the Original one, Arceus, came into being. The Original one collected the vortex and gave life to three dragons: Dialga, Palkia and Giratina. Dialga's breath marked the beginning of time, and Palkia's heartbeat stabilised space. And thus, the universe was created. Giratina, however, was the opposite of the two and governed anti-matter. As a result of its destructive nature, a fight between the three dragons broke out. It is not known how long the battle lasted. However, Dialga and Palkia ended it victoriously, while Giratina was banished to the distortion world. It is said that afterwards, the two retreated into their own dimensions."
Platinum switched the screen to a new image, which depicted the Arceus, the three dragons and an egg with tree creatures.
"Aside from these three dragons, three other beings were created from Arceus as well. They are the beings of the spirit: Mesprit, Azelf and Uxie. These beings taught knowledge, willpower and emotions to all life and have the task to control Dialga and Palkia if they were to ever stray from their paths. They are also known as Sinnoh's guardian spirits who slumber in Sinnoh's three lakes. While there have been various texts about the creation myth. Oddly enough, the existence of Giratina has been confirmed only recently. There is a lot of controversy on the topic of 'Giratina's presence in history and the origin myth' as there is little information about it. Giratina's existence has only been discovered recently, with no mention of it in the ancient texts. Whether the erasure of its name was done consciously, as to erase the fear among the people. Or whether they had never known of Giratina's existence, as it had disappeared even before the first signs of life on these lands appeared, is still unknown. A recent discovery is Celestial Town's ruins suggest otherwise. However, there are still many questions left unanswered. Celestial Town, as one of the most ancient cities of the Sinnoh region, and also the city closest to the location that marked the start of the universe. Has been a place of interest for many scholars, its history dating back even before the first settlers...
Platinum continued to ramble enthusiastically, completely forgetting about the original topic and her confused audience.
"Ah, here we go again," Emerald mumbled. As he used his gadget hand to steal popcorn from Gold.
Pearl coughed and poked Platinum gently. "Lady Platinum," he called out softly.
The heiress awoke from her frenzy. She blinked a few times until she became aware of her behaviour. "Ah... I have strayed from the main topic again, have I not?" Her cheeks burned from embarrassment. She switched the slide with a new image that depicted three different creatures.
"Anyway, with the birth of the universe, waters began to fill, and the earth amassed. By the trenches of the deep seas, as well as the magma deep below the earth's crust, Kyogre and Groudon were born and formed by the elements within the ozone layer, Rayquaza came to be. Groudon raised the lands and Kyogre called the rain from the heavens and filled the lakes and rivers. The lands gave birth to Regigigas, who split the earth to create several continents. These continents became the regions of the present time. Aside from the continents Regigigas also created golems from minerals and raw energy, Regice, Regirock, Registeel, Regieleki and Regidrago. While they are acknowledged as Pokémon. Their composition differs greatly from every other Pokémon. Normally the idea of studying them would be a difficult task. However, you are lucky today! Diamond, would you please?"
Diamond blinked, gulping down his onigiri as he looked at Platinum in surprise, "uh my lady, I don't this is a good idea." He told her.
"Nonsense, this is a perfect and rare opportunity. So many scientists would dream of having this chance!"
"Uh, okay."
Diamond rumbled through his bag and took out a Poké Ball. He threw it on the podium, and to the audience's shock, a gigantic white golem popped out and destroyed the ceiling, creating dust everywhere.
The trainers could only sigh at Platinum's eccentric behaviour. While the servants and masters stared speechless at the sudden appearance of the creature. At the same time, a strange squeaking and clapping sound was heard in the front row. Waver tried to find the source but he was unable to do so with the dust piling up.
"Dia— cough, lady Platinum!" Pearl yelled, "What are you thinking?!"
Platinum coughed. Maybe she had not thought it through, but there was nothing that money could not solve. "I am sharing knowledge!" The heiress proudly declared.
Once the dust cleared up, Platinum approached the golem Pokémon with pride. The Pokémon, despite the strange situation it found itself in, did not move.
"Ladies, gentleman and everyone else, I present you: the mythical Regigigas!"
The heiress' bold exclamation made Kiritsugu almost choke in his saliva. How did they get their hands on a being who was akin to gods?! No matter how ridiculous it sounded. One look was enough to agree that it was the real being from the myth Platinum told them just minutes ago. The Pokémon emitted raw energy. No, it was closer to aether which was supposed to have disappeared after the age of gods ended.
Rider laughed loudly. It was a laughter of amusement and awe. "This is a real surprise young lady. What is the grand story behind your conquest of a being who is said to be so powerful?"
Platinum locked eyes with Diamond, who was leisurely eating his snack and shook his shoulders at the heiress' silent question. "There is none," she answered, "Regigigas appeared before us one day when Diamond was in grave danger and chose him as its master."
"Hmm," Rider frowned upon hearing the anticlimactic answer from the woman. "I had expected something grandiose since it is supposedly a powerful being that helped shape the lands into what they are now. How disappointing.
"On the contrary," Platinum denied, "Regigigas, along with many other legendary Pokémon, are beings of rationality. They separate themselves from the world to avoid unnecessary conflict. They have no interest in matters outside of their jurisdiction. Unless there is a threat that affects them or their assigned jurisdictions. There have been many stories where legendary Pokémon chose to stand next to humans to solve an impending crisis. However, they are well aware of the effects of their powers. Which is why they spent most of their existence in slumber, in their own dimensions or hidden away in the deepest corners of nature."
"I see, I guess conquering these lands will be harder than I expected." The servant mumbled.
"Rider!" Waver scolded his servant.
Platinum approached Regigigas, her eyes shining with anticipation. She placed her hand on its arms. "Regigigas, while being born from the earth, is classified as a normal-type Pokémon. Its ancient body possesses many minerals that have been lost to time." The heiress knocked on its arms to prove her point, "The moss that covers its body is actually part of its body. A study has recently discovered that the moss functions similar to a micro-organism. This is a phenomenon that is commonly seen in grass-type Pokémon.
Despite its robotic nature, it is very intelligent, and it is said to have taught Braille to the humans of old. Furthermore, many ancient ruins found in Sinnoh are said to have been created by Regigigas. However, this theory is yet to be proven."
"Sister, weren't you supposed to be talking about the creation myth and the beginning of our world?" Moon reminded her.
"Yes, yes, we will continue afterwards!" The woman answered, "Now, are there any volunteers who are interested in observing a legend from up close?"
The room stayed quiet for most of the time. Only Irisviel and Rider appeared curious enough to raise their hands. Waver wanted to silence Rider, but by now, he was already aware that it was a futile attempt.
"Alright then. You two, please come forward!" Platinum beckoned them.
The homunculus and servant went to the podium and curiously observed the giant legendary. "Hmm, it certainly behaves differently from the gods I met during my life." Rider commented, "I would never imagine that a god would willingly put themselves on display for others to see! Hahahaha!"
Irisviel was staring at Regigigas head. It was basically burrowed in the ceiling. "Does Regigigas have some kind of ability to communicate with humans?" She looked down at her Deinos. "I understand that trainers and Pokémon have their own method to communicate. And Pokémon like Calirex let humans speak for them. But when it comes to an actual conversation, how did it interact with others in the past?"
"An excellent question!" Platinum pointed out, "This is a hard-to-study subject. However, it has been proven that many legendary Pokémon, if they desire to, can project their 'voices' in the minds of living beings. There are exceptions, which sadly, Regigigas is an example of. But luckily, we have its trainer: Diamond, with us and of course senior Yellow, who possesses the rare ability to connect with any living being!"
"Ah! Yes, is it over?!" Yellow snapped awake when she heard her name being called. Her face flushed immediately when she realised, she had become the centre of attention.
Blue yawned softly next to her, pretending as if nothing had happened.
"Senior, it would be an honour if you could share with everyone what Regigigas is thinking or if it has anything interesting to share." Platinum answered after clearing her throat.
"What? Ah sure?" the woman unconsciously answered, "Although, I doubt that is necessary. Anyone can guess what it wants." She mumbled the last part softly to herself.
The healer came up to the stage glanced at the front row of seats. A frown creased her eyebrows as she looked at the odd public. She looked up at Regigigas and touched its arm. Her eyes closed, and she stayed quiet for a while until she turned back. "It's dreaming about Diamond's cooking," she announced flatly.
The crowd stayed silent until a strange laughing squeak erupted. The people on the podium turned around to see three small similar-looking blue creatures sitting next to Sun. They appeared to be very amused by the performance.
"Ah," Yellow mumbled unsurprisingly.
Irisviel frowned. She was certain that she had never seen them before. However, their appearance was strangely familiar. "They look a bit like..."
"I assume these are the beings of spirit." Rider answered Irisviel's question. "I had not even detected them."
Uxie, Azelf and Mesprit each floated from their seats when their laughter died down. They greeted Platinum and the others by waving their tail then came to sit on Regigigas' arm.
Yellow let out a sign, guessing she had to convey to the others what their business was. She reached out to them, and Mesprit wrapped its tail around her arm. "Ah!" Yellow gasped. When she came back to her senses, the trainer turned towards the others. "Uh, how do I say this. They came here out of curiosity, and while they felt sorry for Regigigas, it was also funny to see how 'Platinum was very entho- Ah, I can't do this." The woman declared. She turned around to her junior, obviously not pleased. "They see us as a laughing stock! I'm sure if it was not for Emerald and Gold's stupid bet, even mister Archer would have gotten fed up with this!"
Platinum gasped at her Senior's sudden outburst. "Wait, bet? What bet?" The heiress asked.
Diamond and Pearl tried to silence their senior, but she did not listen. "We made a bet to see who is the first person to collapse during this lecture. While your knowledge is admirable and I fully support group activities. But you are a bit too enthusiastic, and lunchtime has passed already. You can have a Pokémon battle if you want to see a legendary up close. We have plenty of people here who have a legendary Pokémon with them." Yellow explained, sending gazes at Blue, Black, Saber and Y.
Platinum stayed quiet for a while, obviously thinking about what she was told yet. "I have to admit, I am disappointed that you have not included me in your bet." The heiress admitted to everyone's surprise. "My apologies, well then I will wrap this up quickly. We will have the lecture on the coming of humans tomorrow."
The Pokédex holders groaned in disappointment.
"For now," Platinum interrupted the crowd, "We shall have a belated lunch outside."
As on cue, Regigigas moved. Not bothered by the debris it left behind, the Pokémon went through the wall waiting for the food prepared by its trainer.
Archer's laughter killed whatever silence the room could have, while everyone else just stared speechless at the large hole in the wall.
"Ah, LIGHT!" Black followed suit as he ran outside. He looked like a person who had found salvation.
"Ahem, lectures will be rescheduled until further notice. Please, enjoy your lunch."
The room became quickly devoid of people, leaving Platinum, Moon, Diamond, Pearl and the three spirits. The heiress felt deeply disappointed at her own failure. "I have let myself down." She confessed.
"Please do not be sad my lady." Lancer approached the woman. "While I do agree it was quite confusing, I actually enjoyed it." The man confessed, "I look forward to your future lectures.
Pearl nodded, "Well, it's a lot of information, and everyone could see that you were enjoying it.
"Whether I enjoy it or not, it is futile if I drive the majority of my class insane." the woman grumbled.
"Sister, they were insane, even before the lecture. Pretty sure senior Gold would have paid attention if it were a lecture about women in bikinis." Moon pointed out before she began to clean up the mess.
Lancer coughed awkwardly at Moon's direct remark. "I would say you have a very vigorous and honest way of living."
Pearl almost choked as he tried to hold in his laughter. His gaze went to Silver, who had just exited the logistics room. The trainer walked out casually through the hole as he began to count the money he made for today's dreary work. Yes, very honest.
Platinum observed her sister. Maybe she was right after all. She knew very well how her seniors behaved, it was already an accomplishment that she was able to speak without getting interrupted.
"Well, you have surprised me mongrel. Never have I seen or heard something as tedious as this. Your eccentric behaviour and knowledge are admirable and it was surprisingly interesting as well."
Platinum had not noticed Archer approaching her. "Thank you for coming and my apologies, I will promise to do better next time. "Platinum bowed.
"Do you regret your actions today?" Archer asked her. His attention was oddly on Uxie.
The heiress looked up, confused at his question. "No, I do not. I planned this activity for learning purposes."
"Then, do not apologise." He chastised her, "You are the only one to decide whether today's efforts were fruitful or not."
The man left with those words. While they sounded harsh, Platinum felt motivated by his harsh words. Mistakes are to be made so that they can learn from them. "I will mister Archer! Thank you very much for your generous advice!" The heiress yelled.
With new conviction, the woman decided to help her sister and friend in fixing the building. She will work hard to make the next activity even better.
