She blinked rapidly trying to interpret what Edward said. "You don't want to be my friend?"

"No, no I don't," he returned with a shake of his head. "As I see it, we hurdled that milestone months ago. I don't see any reason to move a hundred steps backward." Pushing her hair out of her eyes, he cleared his throat as he continued, "I gave up my whole existence to be here. I want you and our babies. So, no I don't want to be just your friend."

"What exactly are you saying?" She wanted to know, as the last of the sleepiness faded.

"I'm saying it's all or nothing." His tongue tripped on the words as his chest drew tight. He didn't want Bella to decide he wasn't what she wanted, and there was that very real possibility. "Either we make a real go of this or we don't. I don't want any in between."

Bella nestled into the pillows as she stared up at Edward. It was all or nothing. If she told him she wasn't ready, he'd get up and leave her room. If she told him she was willing to make a real go of their relationship, what then?

Of course, he was sitting here in her bedroom in the middle of the night. Bella had wanted Edward since Christmas. She'd wanted him to determine she was what he wanted. He'd done all of that, and chosen her over his career, something else she'd wanted.

Slowly she pulled the blanket out from under him and held the opening up. A sliver of fear shot through her, but she shoved the hesitation away. Gesturing for him to get under the covers, she whispered, "I want it all."

Edward maintained eye contact with Bella as he pulled the shirt over his head. He'd been in such a hurry to get over here, he'd foregone putting boxers on and now, as he unsnapped his jeans, they slid down revealing his lean hips.

From the second he'd entered her room her scent tantalized his senses, encouraging the raging hard-on he now sported. While he was fine with delaying a physical relationship if that's what Bella chose, he wouldn't hide her effects on his body. So without an ounce of shame, he climbed under the covers and rolled over to face her.

His fingers played over her cheek, and his thumb drifted over her bottom lip. "You are beautiful."

Bella had never been so aroused in her life. She hadn't been lying when she'd said she had been in the midst of a very sexy dream. How many women were so lucky as to wake up to be face to face with the star of those dreams?

Her entire body was on fire, her loins pulsating with a need she'd been ignoring for months. With Edward in her bed—not even an inch away—how the fuck could she resist her baser urges. Cupping his hair roughened cheek, her thumb coasted over his jaw as she stared into his eyes. Her lips tingled, and her breath turned to short pants as she inhaled. "Can I have a kiss goodnight?"

"You can," he murmured, closing the distance between them. He barely finished speaking when Bella's lips captured his. With a hungry groan, he took control of the situation, his lips parting over hers. His arm went around her thickening waist and with light pressure urged her closer.

Insatiable need slammed through him at his first taste of her. Each kiss blew air on the brush fire sweeping through him, Edward moaned, thrusting his tongue deep in her mouth. "God, I have fucking missed you." When Bella bit his lip in response, he growled, his fingers curling in her hair. "You haven't changed a bit. I fucking love it."

He was about to capture her mouth again when the truth smacked him right in the face. He couldn't stand being away from her. She was like a magnet with her whimsy, pulling him in and spinning her silken web around him. The taste of her tongue and lips were addicting to the point of madness, and he couldn't get enough of her. He'd forsaken his livelihood because there was nowhere on earth he'd rather be.

He was in love with Bella Swan.

She grunted impatiently as Edward stared down at her with a twinkle in his eyes. She wasn't sure what the hell that look on his face was, but the raging need pulsing through her veins was too intense to ignore. "Edward, kiss me. Please … please don't stop."

Slowly, watching her closely, he moved forward and kissed her. The hunger, the undeniable longing, and passion were very much present, yet the meaning was completely changed. Edward caressed the swell of her belly as his lips played over hers. Fire burned down his spine as her fingers twisted in his hair.

Breaking away from her kiss, he planted kiss after kiss along the curve of her jaw, nibbling her chin. Breathlessly, he pulled back even as her nails dug into his shoulders. "Baby, can I kiss my babies goodnight?"

Tears sprang to Bella's eyes. Emotion clawed her throat and closed off her ability to speak. Through the sheen of tears, Bella nodded, watching closely when he threw the blankets back and moved down on the bed until his face was level with her belly.

Considering she was dressed for bed, she'd worn an oversized shirt and panties. Gradually Edward lifted the shirt, his hands enveloping her belly as he leaned in and pressed kisses on her abdomen. Tears dripped from the corners of her eyes as she witnessed his affection for his children. Overcome with emotion Bella felt herself tip right over the edge.

She'd wanted Edward for months, there was no doubt about that. He was handsome, smart, persistent, and sometimes he was sweeter than milk chocolate on a warm summer night, but this—him kissing her babies—sent her flying. That's the exact moment she fell head over heels in love with the father of her babies.
