After the war, Hermione went searching for her parents in Australia, hoping to restore their memories. When she finally tracked them down, she was shocked to find out that they had died in a muggle car crash only months before. That night she had lay in her hotel room crying herself to sleep as she realised that they had died never knowing that they even had a daughter.
When she got back to England she and Ron started dating, but soon realised that it just didn't feel like they loved each other in that way. A few weeks later they broke up after both agreeing that they were more like brother and sister.
A couple of months after that Hermione started feeling really lonely in her tiny flat. Obviously, as the golden girl, she could afford something much better but she would feel even more lonely in such a big house. After talking with Molly a bit they decided that Hermione would move into the burrow along with Harry.
Obviously they both offered to pay rent, but Molly and Arthur refused it completely. In the end they compromised by Harry and Hermione using some of the money they received as an award for the defeat of Voldemort to renovate the Burrow.
It no longer was a precariously balanced tower of wooden huts and was now a medium sized wooden house. It still had a large tower of what was the original burrow going up through the middle of the house, but there was more space on the ground floor and it was a lot more stable.
1 year later
After just over a year living at the burrow, Molly thought they should make it official and adopt Hermione and Harry into the family.
That same day the went down to the courtrooms, signed the papers, then it was done. They were officially Weasleys.
Btw in this Harry us actually gay, and Hermione bisexual even though it doesn't mention it. I'm currently working on another fic in the same universe/fic world which will be a bellamione/drarry.
