Written for Hogwarts - Assignment #5 - Epidemic- Task #4 - Terrorism: Write about a Wizarding Terrorist. (Voldemort, Grindelwald, or make a new one, it's up to you).
There was a new Dark Lord. His name was Thanatos, and he was a devout follower of Voldemort, who was furious after his fall. It did not take him long to rise, especially with how the government was being run.
Wizards had become arrogant. They had not changed, even after the things Voldemort had done. Death Eaters still ran the government, the Minister of Magic bribed as soon as they came into office, and muggle-borns and magical creatures were still discriminated against.
Harry stopped caring a long time ago. After being used for years, taken for granted, and laughed at, Harry was done. As far as he was concerned, this Dark Lord was not his problem. The government had not heeded his warnings and they could burn for all he cared.
With this mindset, Harry packed up and moved to France. With him, he brought his wife, his friends, and a surprising amount of people who had fought against Voldemort. It seems they had stopped caring too.
The most surprising addition, in Harry's opinion, was Draco. Thinking back, Harry wasn't that surprised. Draco had been a reluctant follower, and he had seen so many misdeeds to last anyone a lifetime. He refused to be a follower once more. His wife Astoria was like-minded to him and they brought the Malfoy line to an end, taking the Greengrass name instead.
Draco said, when they talked years later, that the Malfoy family died when Voldemort did. How could he take pride in a family who only followed the bigger power? Harry would see Malfoy often, and he could even say they became friends.
Back in Britain, the few who stayed, suffered. Law after law passed that limited the people while Thanatos' power grew ever more. The people had resigned a long time ago. This was their fate now.
Harry heard of what became of Britain in passing. He didn't care anymore as he was busy teaching DADA at a school Hermione founded. Along with raising three children, Harry didn't have time to concern himself with his past.
With Hermione as Headmistress, himself as Deputy Headmaster, and Ron as the Head of one of their Houses, they kept themselves busy. The D.A. along with people like Kingsley, Bill, and others filled teaching positions or found jobs in government, shops, or quidditch. They too didn't care about what happened to Britain.
And what became of Britain? Two years after Harry left, Thanatos took over. Despite his views, they considered him a savior who saved Britain from a corrupt government. It would take a long time for people to realize what a dictator he was. Britain didn't have many smart witches or wizards anymore.
When Harry died at 118, he had no regrets. He said goodbye to his children, grandchildren, and even some great grandchildren before greeting Death like an old friend and reuniting with those who had already passed.
