i completely over estimated my skills of writing so i'm sorry it's taken me so long to update. i've been pretty busy surprisingly, so i don't know when i'll get the next chapter out. sorry this ones so short.

chapter eighteen:

after drying off and getting clothed, hermione and draco sat and enjoyed a hearty lunch. they had had sex twice in a day already, and the sun had only been up for three hours. draco had dueled marcus only an hour ago, and they had bathed.

they hadn't even had a chance to eat breakfast, only eating cheese in the bath. so naturally both were starved.

the left over pizza from their trip to the amazon was now being wolfed down by two very hungry young adults.

hermione was dressed in a thin crop top, her black bra showing against the pale, off white material. her jeans were ripped in different places, her pale skin shining out.

her hair was pulled up into a tight pony tail, a few naturally curled strands of hair resting against her facial features.

draco was dressed in his usual outfit: a black dress shirt, buttoned up to the top, accompanied by crisp, black dress pants.

they were sitting at the island in the kitchen, their mouths stuffed as they hungrily stuffed their faces with steaming pizza.

"how are your bruises?" hermione asked quietly as they watched a movie.

they had finished lunch and had decided to sit down and watch a movie. they were entangled in each others bodies, finally enjoying the peacefulness of their hotel.

dracos arms were around the waist of hermione, whose back was to him and her hands gripping his arms. they laid together on the couch, their legs extending over the edge.

nat was curled up underneath the coffee table, taking a much needed nap after being exhausted by the commotion that her owners had presented throughout the morning.

they had turned on one of the star wars movies.

"they're fine. a little painful at times." draco said softly as he caressed her hair.

"your hands feel nice."

"that's good."

"mm." hermione said as his fingertips pressed on her scalp and massaged.

hermione sat on the floor, draco above her on the couch, his hands massaging at her shoulders and neck. her head leaned on his leg and her arms were at her side. her legs were extended and nat was curled up against one of her ankles.

the movie was almost at its end and the pair were beginning to become sleepy.

hermione was focusing on the feel of his hands as they worked their magic on her knotted shoulders.

draco was focusing on the movie, the scene before him action packed.

hermione slowly drifted into a peaceful slumber.

hermione stood before dumbledores desk, his figure sitting in his chair per usual. his blackened hand rested on the desk while his other hand wrapped delicately around a goblet.

"hermione, my smart, amazing witch. you're doing so good, don't give up. keep pushing forward, good things are coming your way." he said, his soft voice reverberating through the room, seemingly going through and circulating throughout hermione.

the image swirled, and the picture distorted. the image turned black and white, wisps of black trailing through the scene.

suddenly, the image became clear. hermione was laying next to draco, their figures lying on the ground in the middle of a field. the night sky shown above them, stars illuminating through the blackness of the sky.

"you know how some people come into your life and you just know that they're the one? then they're just… not?" draco said softly from beside her, his eyes never leaving the night sky. "i think that's a broken happily ever after.

"i think sometimes people come along and we love them, like best friends, and others are lovers. i think divorces are just broken happily ever afters.

"i don't think anyone 'deserves' a happily ever after. i think it's just how much you work at your relationship with your happy ever after.

"best friends and lovers are basically the same thing, aren't they? you would die for both; both would die for you. neither would ever betray the other, unless their happily ever after ends.

"i think that's what breaks a happy ever after; when someone else comes along and meets the person who completes one of their happy ever afters.

"and i mean what constitutes shattering someone's heart once they've given it to you on a platter? like what makes you think that you have the honest right to go behind someone's back - someone that's put their trust in you to be faithful to them - and break their heart by being with someone else?

"yeah it really is sad to think about, but it's a thing that lots of people have to deal with.

"some people just have such bad morals that they just abandon all faith in their relationship without even breaking up with the other person before starting a relationship with someone else behind their lovers back.

"and you know, i think a lot of people cut themselves to bleed just so that they know they're alive. i don't know if that makes any sense, but like sometimes people are so numb inside that they doubt that they're even alive. like people can just see through them and like they're invisible.

"sometimes it's hard to know that you're alive, you know? sometimes it just takes a little something, even if it's not the healthiest behavior to take up, but just something to know that you're alive and not just a mortal ghost."

"a mortal ghost?" hermione asked softly.

"yes. someone who no one pays any attention to; someone who gets underestimated and neglected constantly; someone who is always alone. they're like a ghost, everyone just sees right through them, but they're mortal."

"you're right."

the image swirled, and the picture distorted. the image turned black and white, wisps of black trailing through the scene.

hermione stood on a hill standing right next to draco, her hand intertwined with dracos, their fingers locked together.

her gaze was locked on the scenery before her, the beautiful evening sky during the sunset being lit with oranges, pinks and blues. the trees lined together in the distance and lined a playground a little ways away from the hill.

hermione heard a soft cooing come from draco as he took his hand from hermiones. that's when hermione noticed what draco had in his arms: a baby.

the baby had blue eyes, small wisps of brown-red hair to match hermiones and the features of draco. draco held the baby with one arm, his other hand on the baby's chest. he cooed to the baby girl quietly as he swayed back and forth.

hermione woke up slowly, her gaze blurry as the lights and sounds emanating from the tv registered in her half awake brain. her head was on dracos leg still, and he was leaned back, his arms crisscrossed on his chest as he stared intently at the tv.

hermiones sleepy limbs struggled to make precise movements as she got up and slid onto the couch next to him.

she laid down, her head in his lap and her legs curled in a ball by the arm of the couch. his hands tangled into her hair, tugging gently at it as he ran his fingers through it. she sighed contently as she remembered her dream.

she remembered the way draco looked with the baby in his arms, her smile widening.

"what're you smiling about?" draco whispered to her.

"just a dream i had." hermione answered softly, her smile audible in her words.

"oh?"

"it was about us. you had a baby in your arms."

"oh."

hermione wiggled around so she was facing up at her boyfriend, who was looking down at her with a smile.

"you want kids then, mate." draco said softly as his fingers trailed her cheekbones.

"yes."

"how many?"

"two."

"two?"

"yes, so that one will never be lonely."

"genders?"

"one girl and one boy."

"oh?"

"so that you never have to say you live with all girls and me vice versa. and so that we each have someone to have common interests with."

"a house or apartment?"

"house. a big one, but not too big."

"i like that."

"one with a huge master bedroom for us, two bedrooms for the kids, and a bathroom for each bedroom. an office for us to share, and maybe a playroom for the kids. definitely have to have a huge kitchen with a dining room attached. and a huge living room, that's a must."

"you've sure thought about this for a while."

"i've always wanted a family, just never really found the right person."

"what about ron?"

"i mean we kissed, and i thought he was the one, but after the war i realized he was never the one for me."

"harry?"

"he's the chosen one, a know-it-all like me has no chance with him even if he did like me."

"and a stuck up rich boy shouldn't be with a know-it-all."

"society at its core."

"indeed."

hermione stared at the man as his face contorted into a look of contemplation.

"what are you thinking about?"

"how i ever ended up with someone as amazing as you." draco said after a long pause.

"speak for yourself. this know-it-all ended up with the boy whose been her mortal enemy for the entirety of her life."

"and this prat ended up with a know-it-all." draco concluded.

this faces met in a kiss of pure love, all of the love they could muster being shoved onto the others lips. their lips moved around each other's, no tongues venturing out of their place of rest.

when they finally parted, they breathed heavily from the exhilaration of the kiss.

"you're a great kisser, 'minoe." draco said as he looked directly into her soft eyes.

"ditto."

"how did i manage without you again?"

"you didn't."

"ah, yes."

as they kissed once more, a soft rapping was heard at the door. nat raised her head and the couple sighed collectively as hermione got up to go answer the door.

"hel- mr. steeple, are you alright?" hermione started until she saw who was at the door and the look of despair on his face.

"hermione, i'm sorry to interrupt," the old man paused, something obviously tearing at his heart strings as he spoke. "there's been an accident."
