Assignment 5: Etymology: Some Fascinating Word Origins: Task #5: Sandwich - Write about friends enjoying a day together.
"Harry, could we go into Honeydukes?" Hermione asked, stopping him by the arm. He had been watching Draco, and he nodded, stopping outside the door. The three friends went into the shop, and Harry felt himself once again fascinated by everything that was surrounding him.
Harry never believed he would be in this position, he could see candies and sweets in every colour of the rainbow, students dressed in their various house colours bustling through the rows, picking up sweets like nougat and fudges.
"I could use a snack," Ron said, eyeing the chocolate frogs with longing.
"Ron, chocolate isn't good for you, you know," Hermione teased lightly.
Harry picked up a basket, and tossed a hand full of chocolate frogs into the basket. His eyes landed on Valentine's candy hearts, and he tried to sneak a box in between the other treasures, but Hermione's brown eyes looked at him quizzically, but she didn't comment on the odd choice. Harry had never been a fan of them, and he had recently started buying them more and more. Harry was thankful she didn't ask, he wasn't ready to reveal it quite yet, but it seemed like Ron either didn't notice, or didn't care.
Harry made his way to the amarula fudge, that was his and Hermione's favourite, and tossed a couple of them into his basket as well. Today was about having a nice day out with his friends, and he never had friends to spoil before. It was a lovely feeling.
"Ron, anything else?" Harry prodded. He knew that his friend was insecure about his family not having money, but Harry tried his best to make it seem like he was asking if there was anything else he needed, instead of what Ron wanted.
"Some liquorice wands?" Ron said, his eyes held a longing as he took in the sweets.
"Oh, right, can't forget those," Harry insisted, grabbing a hand full of those as well. The doorbell jingled, and as some of the students left Honeydukes, Harry saw the gelled blond hair, and the silver grey eyes of Draco Malfoy, and their eyes met for only a second across the busy sweet shop.
"I think that's everything," Harry said. "You too want to go get a butterbeer?"
He walked over to the payment counter, making sure he packed all his goods into his backpack before the three friends headed to the The Three Broomsticks, and with one more look behind him, Harry closed the shop door, and sighed. Today was about Hermione and Ron, and the three of them were going to have the best day ever.
