Ginny woke up and lazily stretched her arms out before dropping them, with one dangling off the side of her bed. She looked around her room, as she realised that she left her curtains wide open last night, leaving a dream- like setting upon her room. Ginny smiled lightly to herself, looking at the beautiful colours that danced around her room. She was snapped back into reality when her eyes stopped on the fold-out bed that had been set up a few feet from her own.

Ginny leaped out of bed and looked at the clock which read 9:47am. '13 MINUTES??' Ginny thought to herself, before beginning to panic. She calmed herself down and took a second glance at the room. Luckily she had stayed conscious long enough to tidy the majority of her room last night, and only needed to lift a few things here or there. 'That's 3 minutes gone...' Ginny stopped and looked at her room now, quite contempt and proud of its current state. She then had one more realisation and grabbed a towel from her closet as quick as she could before bounding down the hallway into the bathroom.

'Showers only take five minutes... showers only take five minutes...' Ginny kept repeating this phrase over and over in her head, as her showers are quite often more like 90 minutes. Ginny stretched her hand out to check the water temperature, and was cut by the thought that that doesn't matter right now. She regretted this decision when she jumped in and found the water to be extremely hot.

She let out a short-lived squeak as the water first hit her body, but she soon adjusted to the temperature, realising she had even less time now. Ginny cleaned herself and her hair quicker than she could've even expected. '7 minutes... YES!' Ginny punched the air as she had just enough time to get dressed and look the best she could for greeting Hermione. Ginny smiled gently to herself at just the thought of her name. Ginny and Hermione had been friends for quite sometime, but during Ginny's fourth year (Hermione's fifth) they had become quite close, and almost inseparable. But ever since second year Ginny's feelings for Hermione had changed significantly. She hadn't quite realised how until she saw Hermione in a two piece bathing suit during a school trip.

Ginny glanced at the clock that displayed 9:57, before opening the door to get ready for Hermione's arrival. The towel Ginny was using was the one she got last year, and because she had a growth spurt over the course of fourth year, it didn't quite fit, as it only came to half way down her thighs, and just about covered her breasts. Because of this she glanced around the hallways before making a dash to her room. As she got to her room she turned the handle swiftly and leaped inside, still dripping wet. Ginny turned and was frozen in her tracks as she made eye contact with Hermione who was now stood a couple of feet away from the girl. Ginny's eyes lit up momentarily before she remembered her state of undress, which caused her to blush and turn her head away so the older witch wouldn't see her. Hermione's eyes carefully scanned every inch of Ginny's body as she slightly bit her lip until she remembered who she was looking at and she quickly looked back up to lock eyes with the girl, but she had turned her head away.

"Oh, sorry" Hermione said quickly before turning away, to give Ginny a sense of privacy. "No, no it's fine. I just wasn't expecting you yet, otherwise I may be in a... different state" Gonny's heart fluttered as she heard Hermione giggle. She rushed over to her dresser and lifted out her clothes before throwing them on and turning to face Hermione saying "All done!" Hermione turned back around, silently, and smiled at Ginny, who was about to throw herself back down on her bed, before realising Hermione probably needed help unpacking. They swapped stories about their Summers so far as they unpacked Hermione's things. Just as they had finished Hermione looked up at the almost fifth year with a puzzled look. As Ginny spotted her she responded with the same look back at her. "So... have you been seeing anyone over the Summer?" As she said this she didn't make eye contact and instead moved to sit down one the bed. Ginny looked at her, wondering what to say before blurting out the truth, "Honestly no, I've just been playing quidditch with the boys all Summer" Ginny wasn't sure but Hermione almost looked relieved at this statement. "What about you?" Ginny asked hoping for an immediate no. Hermione's faced tensed more at this statement.

"Ginny, I've been in France for the past 2 weeks."

Ginny stared back at her.

"And...?"

"No!"

Ginny sighed with relief before settling on the bed with Hermione.

"Although thing is concerning me about this trip..."

"What is it?"

"Your brother..."

This time it was Gonny's turn to tense up. She knew he had had a crush on her ever since he first met her, as he never even tried to hide it, but even the mention of him from Hermione's mouth made her shudder.

"...what about him?"

"I think we both know the answer to that."

Ginny prayed, to whoever she could remember, that the grown would open up and swallow her whole.

"Well... why are you concerned?"

"Because I don't feel the same."

Ginny stated at the girl who was just a few inches smaller than her.

"Really?"

"Of course- he's my best friend I've never felt that way about him."

"Oh thank God." Ginny whispered under her breath. "Do you think he's going to do something?"

"Definitely. He's been acting strange the whole Summer- I know he's been building up to something."

"Oh"

"I just don't know how to let him down easy, without ruining our friendship."

Seeing Hermione so sad and stressed was killing Ginny, but she knew she needed to focus on helping her, and not her own feelings.

"Maybe you should just tell him the truth... that you don't like him that way and you don't want to ruin your friendship because he's so important to you."

"I was thinking that would be the best way to do it, but it's Ron... I have no idea how he'll react"

Ginny looked at her, puzzled. It felt like Hermione was withholding something. She had known the witch long enough to know when she was lying.

"What is it?"

"What do you mean?"

"What aren't you saying?"

Hermione's silence felt deafening.

"There's nothing."

Ginny knew she wouldn't be able to get it out of her right now, so she gave a light sigh and was about to resume a normal conversation when her mother called them both down for lunch. Ginny glanced over at Hermione and nudged her shoulder.

"Hermione, it'll be ok, and if he gets mad then he shouldn't be your friend in the first place. You can't help what you do or don't feel- he should understand that ok?"

Before she could prepare herself, Hermione flung her arms around Ginny and hugged her tightly. Ginny could feel the girl slight sniffle as she nuzzled her face into the crook of her neck.

"Thank you, Gin. It means the world to me that you're here... you mean the world to me."

Ginny hugged the girl in tightly, before whispering into her ear, "I'll always be here for you, 'Mione. No matter how many brothers get in the way... you're always gonna come first."

Neither of the girls wanted to move from their position. They could've stayed there all day. But Hermione broke the hug and looked up and Ginny, who, when she saw the tears on Hermione's face, lifted her hand up to wipe them away with her thumb. Ginny smiled gently at Hermione and looked up to lock eyes with her. They both stared at each other not saying a word, while being less than a foot apart.

"Lunch!!!"

The call startled both the girls enough to leap back from their position, as Hermione jumped off of the bed and began to head towards the door, pulling it open before stopping in the doorway and looking back to Ginny to give her a warm smile, which spoke a million words, before heading out the door towards lunch. Ginny stared at the spot Hermione had just been in and couldn't help the smile that made its way across her lips.
