Chapter 127
As Heartland is rebuilding, Yuya and his siblings are now walking around the park. Vivian says, "Looks like the progress is going well..."
Yuni says, "I know, I am glad to see Heartland starting to return to normal. This is the Heartland that we like to see..."
Yuya says, "But still, we need to be careful of the Number Monsters..."
"I know what you mean." Katrina says.
As they continue further, they find a lot of cats running past them. Katrina asks, "What's going on? How are there so many cats?"
"Let's see." Yuni says as they rush towards the direction of the cats, and then they bump into four people as well.
"Ow..." Yuya and his siblings look up and see that they bump into Yuri, Sona, Serena, and Sora. Yuya asks, "What are you guys doing here?"
Yuri says, "We are about to ask the same question. But it seems that Serena has sensed some cats nearby."
"Yeah, it is quite weird, so we are here to check it out." Serena says.
"I see...we also noticed the cats rushing through this direction, so we are trying to see what's going on as well." Yuni says.
As they continue to search, they arrive at a mansion. As they head inside, they find a cat maid who is bowing at them. "Welcome home, meow."
"Welcome...home? I don't think we have met before..." Yuni says.
The maid says, "Please follow me, masters and mistresses, meow."
They follow the maid as they move forward, but they stop as they hear the door locked. Sora rushes towards the door and tries to open it, but failed. "Oh no! We're in a trap!"
Just then, a lot of cats are surrounding them, and the maid says, "You have fallen into my trap. Black Mist sama asks me to get rid of you guys, and you are not going to get away, meow."
"Black Mist...I knew it, you are a Number Monster, right?" Yuni demands, and the Cat Maid says, "You can refer me as the cat maid, and I have the number that you want."
As they see her activating her Duel Disk, Yuni says, "I'll the one battles, don't worry."
As she activates her Duel Disk, the Field Magic Crossover appears and cards are scattering around the field.
"Duel!" (Yuni:4000)(Cat Maid:4000)
"I'll get the first turn, meow." Cat Maid says, "I use Magic Card: Cat Invitation, with this card, I can add a "Cat" or a "Neko" monster from my deck to my hand."
As she draws a card, she says, "Then I use Continuous Magic: Cat Rally, when a "Neko" or "Cat" monster is Normal Summoned, I can Special Summon 1 Level 3 or lower "Neko" or "Cat" monster from my hand. Now I summon Level 2 Neko Maid. (ATK:600/DEF:800 LV:2)
As a white cat with a maid that looks like a cat maid herself appears on the field, Cat Maid says, "With the effect of Cat Rally, I can special summon another Neko Maid, meow."
As the other monster appears, Cat Maid says, "I'll tell you that both of my monsters' effects is that when this card is in face-up Attack Position, you can't target monsters for attacks except for this one, meow."
"I see...so I can't attack either one of them...that is a nice strategy." Yuni says.
"I set one card and end my turn." Cat Maid says.
"That is not going to stop me. My turn!" After drawing a card, she says, "I use Scale 2 Soccer Player and Scale 8 Nightmare Prisoner to set the Pendulum Scale!"
As two monsters rise to the air, Yuni says, "With this, I can summon monsters from Level 4 to 7! Swing! Pendulum of my heart! Listen to my call and show us the way! Pendulum Summon! Come! My monsters! Smile Fairy Shooting Swimmer. (ATK:500/DEF:1500 LV:4) and then Smile Fairy Baseball Batter (ATK:2400/DEF:1200 LV:5 PS:8)
As both monsters appear on the field, Yuni says, "Soccer Player's effect! I can give you damage equal to half of my other Pendulum monster's ATK!"
Cat Maid is hit by the attack as it takes damage. (Cat Maid:4000-3150) Yuni smiles and says, "Now that's a good start, I'll use Continuous Magic: Random Level Smile Maker, I choose my Shooting Swimmer, making it as Level 5."
As the monster is now Level 5, Sora says, "I guess she is going for Xyz Summon..."
"Numbers can only be destroyed by numbers, so let's see what kind of monster she will summon..." Yuri says.
"Shooting Swimmer's effect, I pay 200 LP to draw a card, I pay 400 to draw 2 cards!" (Yuni:4000-3600)
After drawing two cards, Astral says, "Looks like you're going to use that card."
"I know. I use Magic Card, Xyz Summon Carnival! With the effect of Shooting Swimmer, now I have 2 cards in my hands. I can summon 2 Xyz Monsters using the same materials on my field! "I use Numbers 61's Volcasaurus' effect! By detaching one Overlay Unit, I choose your Neko Maid and destroy it! Not to mention you take damage equal to its ATK! Magmax!"
The roar from the number monster shoots out magma, but Cat Maid says, "I use Trap Card, Quick Xyz! I can Xyz Summon a monster using materials on my field. I overlay both of my Neko Maid!"
"What? Xyz Summon on my turn?" Yuni is surprised, and then she says, "Appear! Numbers 29! Cute cat that attracts your mind! Mannequin Cat! (ATK:2000/DEF:900 RNK:2 OVU:2)
The purple female cat appears with the Number 29 on its leg, Katrina says, "That's the Number monster? It doesn't look that scary..."
"But its effect is not that good as well..." Yuya mutters.
"If you think you can escape Volcasaurus' effect, then you can't escape the battle! I attack your Numbers 29 with my Volcasaurus!"
Just then, much to their surprise, two kittens bring Cat Maid some Action Cards, and the Cat Maid pets them. "Good kitties..." She takes one Action Card and says, "I use Action Magic: Evasion,
The mirror blocks the upcoming Magma, much to their surprise. Yuya says, "Those kittens sure are horror..."
Yuni says, "I end my turn. That was so close..."
Cat Maid says, "Now let me show you what my Mannequin Cat can do. By detaching one overlay unit, I have you summon your Shooting Swimmer from your graveyard."
"What? Summon her monster from the graveyard?" Serena asks in confusion, Yuni says, "I know what she's planning. If a monster is Special Summoned to her opponent's field, while she controls Mannequin Cat, then she can target one monster I control, and special summon a monster with the same type or attribute from her hand, Deck, or Graveyard."
"And I am going to summon Water Attribute: Drizzle Cat." (ATK:3000/DEF:2500 LV:8)
As the blue cat with the cloud of rain on its head appears, Cat Maid says, "Drizzle Cat will protect my field from any damage." She turns to one of her kittens and takes the Action Card, "Action Magic: Bi-Attack. I can double my Drizzle Cat's ATK, so it can attack your Volcasaurus. Let that fire of your dragon put off, meow." (ATK:3000-6000)
Yuni says, "Numbers monsters can only be destroyed by Number monsters, so that won't stop me."
But Yuni still takes damage as she gets blasted by a giant pump of water. (Yuni:3600-100)
Sona says, "This is not very good, she has only 100 LP left..."
Cat Maid says, "I end my turn with a set card, meow."
Yuni gets back up and says, "It is my turn." She draws the card and looks at the field. "Because of the wall of rain, I can't use Soccer Player's effect. But I'll make that rain into steam with my monsters! Freezergon's ability, when I control another Xyz Monster on the field, once per turn, I can choose to detach its overlay unit to use my monster's effect! So I detach it to use Volcasaurus' effect! Magmax!"
Cat Maid is surprised to see that the ice dinosaur is helping the monster as Drizzle Cat is destroyed, she also gives a large pitched meow. (Cat Maid:3150-150)
"And this is the end, Volcasaurus can't attack directly while using its effect, but it can attack your Manquenn Cat! This is the end! Finish it, Volcasaurus!"
The fire dinosaur monster shoots out a ball of flame, and then it hits both the monster and Cat Maid, it gives a large terrifying meow as it falls to the ground. (Cat Maid:150-0)
After the duel ends, the cat maid is nowhere in sight, instead, they see a white kitten lying on the ground with the number card on it. Yuni walks towards the cat and picks the card.
"It seems like Numbers 96 Black Mist turn this cat into a human-like appearance, after it loses the duel, it has returned to normal..." Astral observes.
"That feels weird...I mean, ever since we lost a lot of our Number Monsters, I now realize how important they are..." Yuni says as Yuya picks up the kitten and hugs it, only to be scratched by its claws.
"Owww..." Yuya groans in pain. Yuni sighs and she rubs the kitten's ears. "Geez, brother. You hug too tight, it feels uncomfortable..."
"Core doesn't think so..." Yuya mutters as the others also sigh.
Serena looks around to see a lot of kittens who are now shaking, as they are a little afraid of them. "What are we going to do with this place? There sure are a lot of cats..."
Vivian asks, "Perhaps we can ask Akaba Reiji to do something with this place? I mean, they are probably stray cats who find this place as a hiding spot from Academia..."
Sora asks, "How about taking every one of them to your mom? She likes pets."
"Absolutely not!" Yuya and Yuni yell in unison. Yuni says, "We already have a lot of pets to take care of."
Then she hears a sad meow from the kitten Yuni is holding, and she says, "Maybe we can have this one instead. She is also a good fighter after all."
"Are you sure? I mean, why do I think it is funny to have a kitten in the Lancers?" Yuri asks.
"We already have my doll Cologne, so I don't think it is a problem." Katrina says as they all laugh. But before they leave, they see a bluebird flying past with a wand that has 49 on it.
"I think I saw another Number." Yuni says as she rushes outside, and Yuya sighs, "Here we go again..."
And here is a new chapter, I know it has been a while, but I have been thinking of further duels as we are about to go to the Fusion Dimension Arc, not to mention some of the duels need some time to think. I hope this short chapter will satisfy you. The next chapter will be more Numbers.
