Love in it's Hardest Times

"Professor Dumbledore!" ,James called him.
"Yes James?" ,Dumbledore said striding towards James.
"Professor Dumbledore I just wanted to ask if you could take care of Harry when we go into hiding. I just want him to be as safe as possible," James asked Dumbledore.
Dumbledore agreed saying, "Of course James my boy. I'll take care of Harry." And strided away.
…
"Lily! He said yes," James told her.
"Okay," Lily replied looking relieved. She wanted Harry as safe as possible.

They delivered Harry to Dumbledore and they waited for Voldemort to come. But Voldemort did not come. Lily and James were shocked. Dumbledore had told them Voldemort would be coming today.
"James," Lily suddenly said looking horrified. "What if Voldemort wasn't after us.? What if the prophecy wasn't true? What if Dumbledore made it all up to take Harry for himself?"
James jumped up and went to the fireplace screaming, "Dumbledore's office" was gone.

"Stop Dumbledore!" ,James screamed.
Dumbledore saw James and quickly hid the papers he had been filling out.
"What was that?" ,James asked.
"What James?" Dumbledore asked, pretending to look clueless.
"The papers that you were just filling out," James said.
When Dumbledore did not answer James called, "Accio Dumbledore's papers" and the papers flew to James.
Dumbledore's papers were adoption sheets for Harry James Potter. James was outraged. He couldn't believe that Dumbledore would do such a thing.
James yelled, "Avada Kedavra" and Dumbledore fell to the floor dead.
Just at that moment Lily came through Dumbledore's fireplace.
"James…" she whispered horrified.
"Lily. I'm going to have to change my identity. And fake Dumbledore's death as part of a death eater rade. I'm going to have to pretend to die because Voldemort came to our house. I'm going to fake Dumbledore's will so that he passes Hogwarts to my new identity. I'm sorry. Really sorry. We're going to have to act like we don't know each other. I'm sorry but it's for the best. " Kissing Lily on the cheek he left.
Lily fell down sobbing. Then, she grabbed Harry and returned home. At the Potter's residence there was a letter that James had left for Lily it said:
To, My Sweet Lily Flower
I'm really sorry. I can not visit. But know that I am watching over you and Harry. Don't tell anybody about this even Sirius and Remus. Please. Dumbledore tried to put Harry for adoption and I just couldn't hold my anger. I'll understand if you hate me now. Remember that I'll always love you and Harry.

Lily hugged Harry. She couldn't believe it. Memories flashed by. Memories of the perfect year the three of them had spent together. A year she could never forget.
