Author's Note: Hey everyone! Thank you all for reviewing! Sorry this took so long, college is back in full swing! I want to clarify here that the last chapter was not the end as a few thought. I agree that would have been way anticlimactic. Trust me Rex is in for some problems here. On with the story!

It was a Friday, so after Rex worked out his frustrations in the training simulation Six had set up, he went to cure some of the more tame E.V.O.s that Providence had lined up for him. Holiday had checked him over thoroughly beforehand, but as his nanite code had written itself back to its original state, she gave the O.K. She was still being cautious though, so she was watching from the observation room. So far he had cured an old woman, a dog, a mother, and one unruly hamster E.V.O.

"How's it going so far?" Six asked as he walked up next to her and looked down at Rex through the glass, two coffees in hand.

She took one gratefully and sipped before answering. "It's going well, not even any incurables.

"And the training?"

"He destroyed every machine it threw at him so you could say that went well too except destroying all of Providence's specialized training equipment wasn't really the goal," she said with a wry smile. She took a second to watch as a man was cured and reunited with his family before saying, "He was in a much better mood afterwards though."

"I'll be sure to let White know what Rex's mood was when he finds out how much he cost Providence doing that," Six answered dryly.

Holiday huffed a laugh at that and they both stood there watching until the last E.V.O. was brought in for Rex to cure. It was humanoid, blue and scaly, with long limbs and a large mouth that was clearly growling at Rex.

Six stepped closer to the glass and seemed to be peering at the E.V.O., studying something about it.

"What is it?" Holiday asked looking for something wrong as she stepped forward too.

"There's something on the back of the E.V.O.s leg, look."

As Rex reached forward to cure the E.V.O., Holiday scrambled for the comms button on the control panel in front of her as she recognized the handprint symbol belonging to only one person. "Rex! Do not cure that E.V.O.!"

But it was too late, Rex had already started the cure before he heard the message and it was already shrinking to a normal human male.

Holiday and Six ran down the stairs to the room and up to Rex as he stood there in confusion. "Why? What was the problem? I couldn't stop mid-cure and that man seemed fine."

"That was one of Van Kleiss's E.V.O.s," Six stated.

"It felt like normal when I cured him, though. And it went-" His hands flew to his head suddenly and his eyes screwed up tight in pain and his teeth were clenched.

"Rex what's happening?!" Holiday yelled as she grasped onto his shoulders.

"I don't-! AUGH!" He screamed as he fell forward onto his knees. Blue circuit lines began to erupt from his head and his eyes opened in the now familiar glowing blue to look at the two anxious adults.

"Back-up protocol engaged, nanite code conversion in process, stand by," He said in a robotic voice before slumping forward, passed out cold.

"Let's get him to the lab!"

Holiday's scans, that she had taken now ten of, had all the same results. Rex's nanites were back to the code Van Kleiss had implemented the first time around and now the slowing of the nanite flow near Rex's brain was worse than before.

"How did this get missed?" Six asked anger leaking into his stoic appearance. "How did one of Van Kleiss's E.V.O.s end up in that line-up?"

Rex was once again laying on a medical table and they were waiting for him to wake up. He hadn't stirred once so far and it had been over an hour.

Holiday was clicking through all the data she had gathered and was just staring at the screen looking furious. "Van Kleiss must have been spying on us somehow to know that Rex's nanites had tried to fix the problem but all of that data is encrypted and only you, me, and White had clearance for most of the information I had collected. Could we have a mole?"

"If we do, I'll find them," Six said.

White appeared on the large screen in the lab then. "Six, I made a comprehensive list of all Providence employees who accessed any computer in the lab in the last 36 hours or were involved in the capturing and curing of that E.V.O. Find that mole now."

Six took the piece of paper that printed out and scanned it before nodding to White and heading to the door. "Call me when he wakes up."

Six decided to call all personnel on the list to one room so they could do the work for him by pointing fingers. He was confident no one would want to be against him. He had not met most of the people on the list personally but Six had a reputation that everyone paid attention to.

He walked into the room after they had all been seated at the large table. He noted that they all looked at each other nervously but he kept his head down, making a show of checking off the list in his hands before he stopped at the head of the table and looked up. He paused for a moment, making their fear spike as he stared them all down, before he said, "Today, Agent Rex is in the med center, unconscious and unresponsive because someone neglected to inform Doctor Holiday that one of the E.V.O.s up for a cure today was made by Van Kleiss. This one here." He showed them all a large picture of the E.V.O. in question. A few of them gulped and he assumed they were the ones in charge of the cure today, so he rounded on those first. "How did that E.V.O. get missed?"

A brave soul spoke up shakily, "Well Sir, it's hard to check every inch for a mark… Sir." The man gulped as Six placed an icy glare on him.

"The hand print is not small," he paused to look down at the list, "Anderson. I was able to see it from the observation deck," he adjusted his shades slightly, "with sunglasses on."

"Sir," A woman spoke up this time. Doctor James, he noted. "That particular E.V.O. gave us quite a bit of trouble and it was difficult to keep it still for the regular check-"

Six held up a hand to silence her. "Is that your excuse for this critical blunder? It was difficult to hold it still?" He ended up hissing the last of his sentence, the rage clear in his voice and everyone at the table flinched.

"Hobbes, Regell, Manchester, Carter, and Rodriguez, you all have accessed the lab computers in the past 36 hours. Why?"

I was doing routine maintenance on the malware Providence has on it's computer systems, Sir," Hobbes spoke first, "Rodriguez is my assistant and was helping me."

Rodriguez was nodding rapidly, clearly fearful of the agent he had heard a lot about since his employment a few months ago.

"I was fixing one of the coordinate computers in the lab, I work in the Tech department. I don't know anything about this E.V.O., I swear!" Carter said in a rush with her hands up in front of her, in the universal sign of surrender.

Doctor Manchester spoke next, "Sir, I was accessing medical files for a few of the soldiers after they got injured in E.V.O. attacks."

"And you, Regell?" Six asked. The rest of the employee's stories made sense with what was written on the sheet he was holding so far.

"I was there during the capture of the E.V.O., it put up quite the fight but we subdued it early this morning and captured it for Rex to cure later," the man said in a placating tone that only made Six angrier than he already was. The man seemed to notice this and gulped before continuing in a pleading manner. "I never saw that mark on it though, I swear!" He too was holding his hands up in surrender. Why did they all think that made them more believable?

"Okay, but why did you access a computer terminal early this morning, at 4:37 a.m.?"

"What?! I did no such thing!"

Six strode to his seat quickly and showed him the paper he was clenching his hand down on, practically shoving it in the man's face. "Then why does this list that White Knight personally gave me say that you did?"

The man stared wide-eyed at the paper before spluttering, "But, but… I was asleep! This can't have been me!"

"Can anyone vouch for you going to your room and staying there the whole night?" Six asked, voice dangerously low.

"I didn't do anything!"

"You're the one that was there taking down that E.V.O.! You definitely should have noticed the mark on it's leg if you were fighting it and the access to the computer proves it! You're a spy!" Anderson shouted at Regell.

"What? How could you all not have noticed it if you were doing a body check?!"

Six looked up from Regell suddenly and turned his head toward Anderson. "How did you know where the mark was? According to you, you didn't see it before."

Anderson sputtered slightly, "It- it was in the picture you showed us!"

"This picture?" Six held it up again. "It's a front view of the E.V.O. You can't see any mark in this picture.

The man fidgeted for a second before bursting up out of his seat and running to the door and out into the hallway.

Six straightened his tie as the commotion in the hallway could be heard of numerous guns being cocked and the skidding of Anderson's shoes made it clear the man had nowhere to run. "The rest of you stay here. White Knight will be appearing on the screen for a talk," Six said as he walked calmly to the door.

Anderson was restrained by four grunts, trying to struggle but to no avail. A circle of grunts surrounded him with guns cocked so he had nowhere to run. They let Six into the circle before closing again.

Six whipped out a katana and held it to his throat. "Why did you do it?"

"You think there aren't people here that would betray Providence in a heartbeat? Providence treats its employees like shit. I put my life on the line day after day and who gets all the glory? That E.V.O. freak! That stupid kid we put all of our faith into! Van Kleiss promised me a hell of a lot of money for such a simple task. All I had to do was let him know how his toxin was affecting the brat."

Six growled and held the blade closer, earning a small nick in Anderson's neck, forging him to move his head back farther. "That kid will be as empty and naïve as when you found him when Van Kleiss has his way, and you and that doctor won't be able to stop it. And then Providence will be ruined without it's little hero."

It took all of his might not to kill the man then and there, but they might need him for further questioning so he said, "Take him away and put him in a cell where Breach won't be able to get to him. Though I doubt Van Kleiss will want this failure back," he practically spat.

He watched the grunts take him away and the hallway cleared out. He took a moment to lean his back against the wall and sigh.

"Holiday to Six."

"Six here."

"Rex is awake."

"On my way."

"And the mole?"

"Taken care of."

Rex was sitting up, holding an icepack to his head. "Sorry, Rex but your nanites are breaking down every medication I've tried. You're just going to have to wait this out," Holiday was saying.

"Eh, it's alright. A headache won't kill me. So my nanites are all messed up again?"

"I'm afraid so, hopefully Six got some information out of Van Kleiss's spy."

"Wait Van Kleiss planted a mole?!" Rex jumped off the table, dropping the icepack which slid across the floor and stopped at Six's feet. "Where is he, Six? I want to talk to him!" he growled, trying to get past Six who grabbed his arm and led him back to the table despite his protests.

"Don't worry, I took care of it. He's in a cell and on constant watch for Breach in case she shows up to retrieve him." He handed Rex the icepack back, who took it and placed it on his head with a huff.

"Did he tell you anything?" Holiday asked.

There was no point in sugar-coating it. "He confirmed that the goal is to wipe your memory, Rex."

Rex was silent for a moment. "Could my nanites just rewrite the code again?"

"I don't think that's going to work this time," Holiday said, putting a hand on his knee. "I watched your nanites try a few times while you were asleep. They never got far before they were overridden again. That's why you were out for so long."

"So what? I'm supposed to just sit here and wait for it to happen?" Rex asked bitterly.

"No. Like I told you before, you're just going to live," Six said "Holiday and I will monitor you the same as before and we will figure out how to stop this."

Holiday nodded in confirmation and Rex sighed. "Okay."

"Well it is Friday," Holiday said. "Are you up for some meat loaf and mashed potatoes?"

Rex grinned. "Always!"

"Speaking of, where has the monkey been?" Six asked and he quirked an eyebrow as Rex shrugged with a very unconvincing poker face.

"Okay, okay," Rex said in defeat as Six continued to stare him down. "He didn't tell me where he was going and said he needed 'Bobo time,' whatever that means." Rex's face split into a smirk then. "I guess you'll have to make dinner, Six."

Holiday smiled and stood up, taking the icepack from Rex. "Come on then, let's go eat."

"I don't even like this meal," Six said as they walked out of the lab.
